A/N: Here's the next part of the task. Hope you guys like it! Thanks to my two reviewers who are always there, Nathy22 and Marizactz. Let me know what you think. Funny side note (at least to me) I almost wanted to call the Champions Victors...clearly ready for Catching Fire!
Chapter 22 The Second Task Part 2
Scorpius took a deep breath and steadied himself. He started thinking about the instructions the Sorting Hat gave him and began to figure out which potion bottle he should choose.
'Two are nettle wine and poison is always on its left side, which means poison is in the first potion bottle and nettle wine is in the second,' Scorpius thought, "Now to just figure out what the other five are. Ok, think, Scorpius, think."
Scorpius paced the platform with the potion bottles. He snuck a look at Hermione Weasley and she smiled kindly and winked at Scorpius, 'Come on, Scor, you can figure it out,' Hermione thought.
'Different are those who stand at either end, so the last one could be the potion, but the Sorting Hat said neither are my friend. So the first, second and last are out, righ? Ugh, I can't concentrate. Ok, focus, what would Lily say in this situation? She would tell me I should listen better since I'm a boy and I don't do it well in the first place.' Scorpius smiled.
'Neither dwarf nor giant holds death inside…and second left and second right are twins…uh, that leaves three, four and five as possible solutions."
Scorpius walked towards the table with his decision in mind. "Mr. Malfoy, please choose your bottle." Hermione instructed Scorpius.
Scorpius chose the short blue bottle and as he drank the potion his only thought was, 'Please don't let this kill me. I don't want to have wasted my last kiss with Lily.' And with the thought of the red-haired Lily on his mind, he drank. And nothing happened.
Hermione smiled, "Mr. Malfoy, you chose the third potion bottle which is correct. Congratulations, you move onto the final round of the second task. Unfortunately, you're not finished with this task yet," then Hermione whispered to Scorpius, "And did you really think after Harry's Triwizard Tournament do you think we would intentionally try to kill you?" And Hermione winked and lead Scorpius to his next round.
"Mr. Malfoy, here we are for your second part of the second task," Scorpius saw a huge chess board and smiled internally. If they were playing Wizards Chess then he should have this won easily. Scorpius frequently played Al in Wizards Chess, although he lost most days…okay, every time he played Al he lost. Which might not mean much to anyone not privy to the Weasley-Potter clan, but Albus Severus Potter is the only member of the family to have beaten Ron Weasley at Wizards Chess. Needless to say, Scorpius felt confident.
Hermione started again, "Mr. Malfoy, you must compete against an unknown player. Your standing in the finals of this task while depend upon the results of the first part and how far you make it through the Wizards Chess. If you lose in the middle of the game, you will not necessarily mean you will not finish in a higher place at the end. Good luck."
Scorpius settled up to the large chess board. He stood in the middle of his back row surveying his first move. (A/N: Note, I have no idea how to play chess, let alone Wizard's Chess…so bare with me. I may skip over parts).
Soon, Scorpius called out his first move and only hoped the other player was worse than Al, but it only took about five seconds for the unknown player to decimate Scorpius' piece. 'Well, Merlin's beard, that didn't start out well,' thought Scorpius.
Ten minutes passed and Scorpius felt confident in his pieces left, but as the next five minutes passed his confidence faded as his Queen was taken and Scorpius was announce to be finished. Feeling defeated, Scorpius hung his head as he listened to Hermione's next instructions.
"Mr. Malfoy, congratulations on finishing the second task of the Triwizard Tourament. If you follow me, I will lead you to tent as we await the results."
Scorpius settled back onto his bench from earlier although, no one from earlier was inside. He wondered where Marko and Loren went. 'Eh, what do I care?' And Scorpius hung his head back and closed his eyes.
Little did Scorpius know, but a small Gryffindor girl was making her way into the tent as quietly as possible.
Boldly, Lily walked over to her boyfriend and straddled him while he sat on the bench. Lily felt Scorpius flinched underneath her weight as he snapped his head to meet the face of the very forward person sitting on his lap. Thankfully, Lily saw the famous Malfoy smirk cross his face. "What are you doing in here, Flower? I thought this was off limits right now?"
Lily leaned down and kissed Scorpius, letting her tongue linger softly across his bottom lip, tasting the sweetness of his lips. She pulled away from him and the sad look on Scorpius' face melted Lily into a puddle that she was sure was laying on the floor at his feet.
"Scorpius Malfoy, when are you going to get this through your pretty little, blonde head, when your father is the Savoir of the Wizarding World, your aunt is running the Triwizard Tournament and you're the Savoir's youngest child and only daughter, you can get almost anything you want which includes alone time with your boyfriend after he finished a grueling task during the famous Triwizard Tournament."
Lily kissed her boyfriend again, short and sweet. Scorpius tried to pull away to smart off towards Lily, but she seemed very forceful in her affections.
"Lils. Lils," Scorpius tried to mumble through their kiss, "Lily, and how is it that we are alone in this tent without Marko and Loren?"
Lily smiled shyly, "Maybe I suggested the two of them should catch some alone time as well." Scorpius looked puzzled. He didn't understand what Lily was saying. "Scorpius, have you been so wrapped up in your own life that you haven't noticed the looks shared and touches between Marko and Loren? They totally have the hots for each other."
"Huh, really, I had no idea. Seriously?" Lily nodded and threw her head back with laughter.
"Men, they can be so daft."
Scorpius pulled Lily closer to him, "And where did we leave off before the ridiculous conversation about other people's dating lives? I think we were somewhere about here," and Scorpius trailed kisses down Lily's neck.
"Oh, Scor, oh," Lily moaned. She was lost in his kiss as he eventually worked his way up to claim Lily's mouth. The world had stopped. It was Lily Luna Potter and Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy as the only two people in the world. They were lost in each other, until a subtle cough broke them away from each other.
Lily flushed red as she saw her aunt walk in the tent. Scorpius laughed knowing how easily embarrassed she was. "Excuse me Lily, but I need Scorpius to the platform we have the results of the task. Lily, you may come with us, but you can't stand on the platform." They followed Hermione out.
Lily slipped her hand into Scorpius' she knew he was nervous. She could feel it in her bones. Scorpius brought her hand up to his lips and touched his lips to her skin. He wasn't sure if she knew how much her presence calmed him, but he would try to tell her for the rest of his life if she let him.
Eventually the Lily had to let go of Scorpius' hand and she smiled as he climbed onto the podium to join the other Champions.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, this task come down to seconds between the winners. Champions, you completed exceptionally well."
A/N: Who won? Duh duh duh…thanks for reading! Let me know what you think?
