A/N: Here's the conclusion to Christmas with the Malfoys. Let me know what you think.
Chapter 25 Malfoy Family Christmas
Lily rubbed her swollen and red eyes, still sitting in disbelieve that Draco Malfoy came after her. Lily couldn't let Lucius Malfoy talk about her family that way, but now Lily was embarrassed that she had made such a scene at her boyfriend's family home. 'What a cottonheaded ninny-muggin!" Lily thought.
She turned to Draco, who was sitting silently next to her, "Mr. Malfoy, I'm so incredibly sorry to have ruined your Christmas dinner." Lily began to sob again thinking about the terrible impression Scorpius' family must have of her.
In this moment, Draco knew he would have enjoyed having a daughter. The Malfoy genes always seemed to produce boys, but in this moment he wished he had his own daughter to comfort. Draco did the next best thing. He gathered Lily into his arms, trying his best to console her.
"Lily, you have no reason to apologize. It is I who should apologize to you. Astoria and I had hoped for better behavior from my father, however we were clearly mistaken. I am truly sorry for his words and behavior as well as Asotria and I for letting the words continue as long as it did." Draco squeexed Lily a little tighter, reinforcing the comfort he hoped to bestow to her.
"How are Scorpius and I going to stand a chance when we can't even make it five minutes into our first family dinner?"
Draco mentally cursed his father. He had worked hard to rebuild his relationship with Scorpius and he thought it was going well, especially since Scorpius had returned from Hogwarts for break. He and Scorpius had even spent an evening in his study talking about life as they both drank some firewhiskey, of course unbeknownst to Astoria. Draco felt like a proud father after Scorpius asked his father had known Astoria was the one. Draco had the feeling that Scorpius' thoughts of Lily mirrored his of Astoria and he was overjoyed to share that knowledge with his only son. Now he felt was the perfect time to share a secret with Lily.
"Lily, I have something of a secret to tell you. For the past few months, your father and I have had a standing meeting at local pubs. We've been doing our best to keep it out of the news that the Death Eater Malfoy and Savior Potter were becoming friends." Lily was surprised. She didn't even hear any hint of malice in his tone. But more importantly, she couldn't believe these two men would get together and meet regularly. Her mouth dropped open in astonishment.
"Don't look so surprise, Lily, your father and I actually seemed to have more in common than even we first thought. Only our wives know about the meetings, and no you. It's actually been nice to know and talk to someone outside of my extended family or former Death Eaters and I'm sure your father likes talking to someone not directly related to a Weasley." Draco smirked and Lily knew that smirk all too well since she saw it frequently from her boyfriend. Lily wanted to protest Draco's comment about Weasleys, but he interrupted her.
"Lily, I'm glad Scorpius has you. I can see the way he lights up when you're in the room with him. And when he comes home for breaks or writes to Astoria, you're all he talks about. He includes you in everything he does and says. I'm quite sure he would be angry with me for telling you this, but I won't be surprised if your last name ends up changing to Malfoy one day." Draco knew he was being forward, but it was the truth. They were young, but Scorpius would graduate from Hogwarts this year. "I know you two are both so young and your father would have killed me for my last statement, but, Lily, Astoria and I already consider you family."
Lily smiled at Draco's kind words and was surprised at his frankness. She wrapped her arms around Draco's neck. Draco quickly covered his shock and returned the hug immediately. He then pulled back to mention one more thought, "Now the two of us are going to return to the dining room to finish, or really start, our delicious dinner. And if my father doesn't like it, he can return to his own home. I've lived far too long under fear from my father to not realize the importance to stand up for my own son. So, what do you say about returning to the house?
Lily nodded and rose from the bench. Draco offered his arm to Lily and she accepted it.
"Mr. Malfoy, can I ask you one question?" Lily smiled as Draco nodded. "Were you really punched by my Aunt Hermione while you were at Hogwarts?"
Draco groaned and stopped the two of them dead in their tracks. "How do you know -," another groan escaped from Draco, "I'm going to kill your father." Lily laughed out loud again as the two made their way towards the dining room.
Meanwhile, back in the Malfoy dining room….
Scorpius was fighting off more curses from his so called Grandfather as he tried his best to land a curse of his owns. Scorpius could hear his mother trying to yell for the men to stop, but Scorpius was only focused on the words coming from Lucius.
"Dare to taint the Malfoy line with that foul blood and disgusting flaming hair. What a disgrace to the pure Malfoy name," Lucius shouted over the flying curses.
"Oh, Grandfather, I look forward to the reputation I bring to the Malfoy name as I try to repair the damage you did with your years under Voldemort. What a shame that you were so scared of a man that you let him take over your own home, Grandfather," every time Scorpius said the word Grandfather, he put as much hate and disdain into his tone. "I am my own man, with my own mind and I will not take orders from anyone, least of all you. Your ideals are old, you are old. I will date whoever I please. There. Is. Nothing. You. Can. Do. About. It!" Scorpius talked slowly, hoping Lucius had heard anything he said.
Astoria had quite enough and had no help from Narciss. Instead, Narcissa had pushed her chair back to the corner of the room, with her arms crossed over her chest. Astoria then transfigured a goblet into a dividing wall. She addressed her mother-in-law first.
"Narcissa, I do believe it is time for you and Lucius to leave. As much fun as this has been, we will not be able to finish our dinner together." Narcissa finally vacated her chair, shooting daggers at Lucius.
She whispered to Astoria, "Dear, I am sorry this night was ruined. I had looked forward to talking with Lily, but you know nothing I would have said to him would have changed the outcome. Please give my apologies to Lily and Draco. I'm sorry," Narcissa turned towards Lucius, "Get up! We are going home."
"Narcissa, how can we leave this house knowing what she is allowing our grandson to do?" Lucius stood his ground.
"You mean the grandson you just sent curse after curse at?" Astoria was the one to respond, "Get out of my house now, before I have house elves forcefully remove you." Scorpius beamed proudly at his mother. He was so proud of her.
"Oh, Grandfather, you can get I'd love to have a whole household full of red-headed children running around Malfoy Manor bearing the exact same surname!" Scorpius shouted at a retreating Lucius, at Scorpius' words he though he stopped only to then be shoved out the door by his wife.
Lily and Draco had made their way to the dining room around that same time and judging by the color of Lily's cheeks, she had heard Scorpius' last comment.
Laughter filled the Malfoy dining room for the first time ever, as far as Draco could remember and Astoria was the loudest one.
"Oh, Lily, I have so many embarrassing stories to share with you about Scorpius. There was the one time asked Lucius where babies come from. Scorpius was five and I think that was the last civil conversation the two of them had." The table laughed again, "Or there was the one time Scorpius walked in on Draco and I in an uncompromising position," Draco winked at his wife, while Scorpius rolled his eyes.
"Mum, let's cool it on the stories about my childhood. It's taken me years to get over the sight of you and dad. I was thinking I could show Lily around the house?" Scorpius asked, appealing to his mother's desire to make a good impression on Lily.
"Of course, darling, show Lily around. It's a shame you won't get to see the grounds while it was light out, but you'll just have to come back again." Astoria's smile made Lily feel warm and welcomed despite the disasterous start to the evening.
Scorpius grabbed Lily's hand encouraging her to follow him out through the room. As the two were just reaching the door, Astoria called out, "But don't you two dare try to start marking those red-headed Malfoys!" Now both young lovers blushed and ran from the room. Scorpius dragged Lily up a staircase mad of beautiful white marble. Lily thought she would have liked running her hand over the banister, but Scorpius gave her no time as they ran upstairs.
Scorpius lead Lily through the third door down the main hallway. As Lily stepped in, she noticed the red and yellow colors covering the room. Lily knew immediately where they were, but her boyfriend gave her no time to think as he pushed her up against his closed, bedroom door. He began kissing her in the crook of her neck, then he pressed his warm lips against her throat. He continued to trail warm kissed up and down her neck, her face and down her arms. Lily tried to return the kisses, but Scorpius was making it clear she was his focus right now. He finally pulled away, only for Lily to miss the intimate contact.
Scorpius grabbed Lily on both sides of her arms, holding her gaze. Lily felt the depth of the emotion Scorpius was putting forth, but she wasn't sure why. "Lily, are you okay? I'm sorry about how Lucius treated you tonight. Had I known he was going to behave that poorly, I wouldn't have brought you here." Scorpius cast his gaze down, unable to look at Lily. He had failed to protect her from Lucius and he was angriest at himself. "I should have protected you better. I can't believe I let my mother talk me into bringing you here."
Lily tugged Scorpius' chin back up to meet her eyes. "You stupid, stubborn and amazing man. How many times do I have to tell you that I can take care of myself? I'm not helpless, but I do appreciate your protection," Lily rubbed her fingers lightly up and down Scorpius' cheek, "Honey, I do appreciate your unfounded and bull-headed need to think you need to protect me all the time. Are you able to see the future, Scorpius, because I hadn't heard you were amazing at Divinitation?" It was a rhetorical question and Lily took her hand and forced over Scorpius' mouth, realizing he had planned on answering the question. "You can't see the future. You could not have known your grandfather would have acted so immature in person."
Scorpius tried to mumble through Lily's hand that was still firmly covering his mouth. Lily shook her head, "No, you are not allowed to be right. You are going to listen to me. You are Scorpius Malfoy," Lily could feel him smirk underneath her hand, "and you are dating Lily Potter. Two families notorious for not liking each other, right?" Scorpius nodded. "Then you know we are going to face some challenges for people who still have old fashioned opinions about blood status. But if you promise me that you will stick by my side and I promise you to always be at your side, then I know no one will stand a chance against us. I love you and I won't let anyone, not even Lucius Malfoy, stop me from doing that." Lily removed her hand and Scorpius' smirk was still plastered on his face.
"Am I allowed to talk now?" He asked smugly. "I love you, too." Scorpius then captured Lily's mouth in his, attempting to make up for the disaster that was dinner. Scorpius and Lily then lost another twenty minutes, scrunched up together against Scorpius' bedroom door.
They walked hand in hand down the stairs and Lily still had one question left, "How did the subject of our potential red-headed children come up anyway?"
A/N: I always like reading how the Malfoys react to Lily and I hope you liked mine. Let me know. And Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving because I'm going to eat as much pumpkin and apple pie as possible.
