A/N: Hello everybody and happy New Year. I know that I said the second Friday but lately I had a lot that was going on. Anyways that doesn't excuse the promise that I made to you all. So without further ado, here is chapter eleven. Calvin, the disclaimers please! Please excuse some of the grammatical mistakes.
Calvin: (sighs) PokeFan102, does not own Pokémon. He only owns the plot, region, and certain OC's. Here is chapter eleven.
Crossing Enemy Lines
(Shadé's POV)
So far this journey has been easy. Even with my loss at the Central City Gym. I never liked Ron ever since he tormented my brother but that is beside the point.
It took us a couple of days to finally get to Capital City. Since then I have been taking care of Chimchar until we get to Lapshire City. I don't want to let him go but I have too. I've grown attached to this chimp.
"Come on Eevee," Calvin shouted at his new Pokémon.
Eevee happily yelped in excitement and tackled Calvin to the ground. It is nice to see that his attitude is getting better. He thinks I haven't notice that his attitude was depressing until recently. I notice everything.
Traveling around would give you that kind of knowledge. I've meet so many great people and it's only been a month. I can't wait to challenge this gym and see what it is all about. Hopefully this one will go smoothly.
"Calvin, can you hurry up? I'm trying to win my next badge," Jerry growled impatiently.
And then there is Jerry. He is super annoying and always complaining. I expect it since he's been spoiled all his life. He does work hard, don't get me wrong, but his attitude is terrible. I've never met somebody so pessimistic in my life.
Which brings me to Kenny? Kenny is the polar opposite of Jerry. Whereas Jerry is cranky, impatient, rude, and pessimistic, Kenny is sweet, kind, and nice. Although he can be very forgetful and childlike, I like having him around.
"For once, I have to agree Calvin. We have to get a move on," I said.
Calvin pouted and returned Eevee back to her Poké Ball. I know he was having a mini training session but I do want to get my next gym badge.
We arrive at the gym and there is a sign that says 'Come back later'. Jerry growled beside me before storming off in a random direction.
"Where are you going?" I asked him.
"I have no idea. We came here for nothing!" Jerry seethed.
"Actually we can go check out the canyons. I heard it was some cool Pokémon around there," Kenny suggested.
Jerry growled and stormed off towards the Pokémon Center. The three of us followed behind him as we let him cool off.
As soon as we enter the Pokémon Center, I heard a groan come from Calvin. What is he growing about now? I look at the receptionist desk and found Kelli and Luc standing there.
"Hey guys," I greeted happily.
Luc and Kelli turned around and gave me a grin. Luc's grinned wider once he saw the irritated look on Calvin's face. I never understood what Calvin doesn't like about Luc but that isn't my business.
"What you guys doing here?" Calvin asked.
"We came to participate in the Capital City Contest and afterwards Luc is challenging the gym," Kelli answered.
Calvin's face fell into a grin and he gave Kelli the thumbs up. I don't know what that is about but I can't stand to sit through another contest.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Pokémon Coordinators. I could never be one however. All that dazzling a crowd and putting on a show is boring to me.
Growing up, I had to sit through watching reruns of my mom's old contest days. I was never interested in them from being a little girl. My mom was disappointed when he found out I wasn't going to follow in her footsteps since I was the only girl.
On the other hand, my father was ecstatic. Since Calvin took an interest in contest and I in battles it worked out perfectly. We even joke about watching Calvin's contest from time to time but not in his face. Dear Arceus, we know how sensitive that boy is.
Anyway, Calvin, Luc, and Kelli are in deep conversation until Calvin said something that threw off my train of thought.
"What do you mean you're not entering this contest?" I asked.
"Eevee needs more practice and there is a Contest Hall in Lapshire City so I'll be fine until then. We can go there right after your gym battle," Calvin grinned.
That struck me as odd but I'm not complaining. As long as I don't have to sit through another contest then I'm fine. I lucked out last time by taking care of Chimchar.
"So we are going to the ruins," Jerry asked from behind us.
"Obviously," I sassed.
Jerry rolled his eyes and continued to walk out the door. That kid seriously gets on my nerves when it comes to things like this. I don't understand how he is able to be so nonchalant about things.
"Okay guys let's head to the ruins," I said.
-xXx-
I wouldn't have suggested we go if the walk wasn't so far from the city. We been walking for a long time and my legs are starting to cramp up. This is the first time for me since I'm usually fit.
We finally had to stop as we reach a dead end. I looked over the cliff to find rushing water at the bottom. I really don't feel like turning around.
"Hey guys, did you know the legend of the Capital Canyons?" Kenny asked.
We shook our heads and waited for him to explain. Kenny usually has an idea of everything in Torgé since this is his native land.
"Long ago it was said that the legendary golem, Regirock, use to rest here after the Great War. Many archeologists tried to find the ruins but had no such luck. Maybe we could look too," Kenny suggested.
"If professional archeologists couldn't find it, what makes you think we could," Jerry sassed.
I rolled my eyes and resist the urge to argue with Jerry. I can see that Calvin is tired of us arguing over nothing. I'm going to try out of the love for my brother.
"Hey what's that?" Calvin asked.
We looked at the direction he was pointing to find a helicopter. The helicopter looked as though it was just parked her. I wonder who it belonged to.
Suddenly a man in a team shadow uniform appeared before us. He looked baffled before drawing a Poké Ball.
"What are you kids doing here?" He asked.
"What are you doing here?" Jerry sassed back.
"You shouldn't sass me little boy. Ghastly, teach him a lesson," the henchman said.
"Tailow, I choose you!" Jerry said.
"Ghastly use Toxic!" The henchman said.
"Tailow use Air Slash!" Jerry said.
Ghastly spun around in a circle to release a poisonous sludge at us but the sludge was sliced away by Tailow's Air Slash. However, the toxic melted the rock around us that was soon crumbling to pieces.
"You guys, I think we need too..." Kenny said but was cut off by the rocks around us shattering.
Right below us was the nothing but air. I screamed to the top of my lungs as I knew this was our ultimate doom. I never thought I would've died at eleven but that just proves that anything can happen. This really sucks.
"Banjee use Gravity now!" Kenny yelled as we free fell.
Banjee's eyes glowed and suddenly we were slowing down. I don't know how but we were still going to end up in the water if we don't do something.
"Tailow return. Swampert, I choose you!" Jerry said.
"Samurott, I choose you!" Calvin said.
Two Poké Balls were thrown and two large water-type Pokémon emerged. I landed on the back of Samurott just in time. If it wasn't for the boy's quick thinking, we would be dead.
I look to the top to see the henchman smirking at us. He is lucky that were not up there because he could kindly answer to my fist.
The current was extremely strong and we had no choice but to ride it out. It was very fast and we almost crashed into rocks several times. I looked to my left and saw a cave opening. Maybe we could wait in there until we can get some help.
"You guys, we could go into the cave. It looks safe," I suggested.
"Samurott, you heard her," Calvin commanded.
"You too Swampert!" Jerry commanded as well.
The Water Pokémon swam to the water cave and the current stop. Once we were inside we saw a patch of land but it started to get darker than before. Soon I could see as we made it to land.
"I could help. Wraps, I choose you," Kenny said.
Kenny thru a Poké Ball and a Tangela appeared. Tangela opened its eyes before giving Kenny a lazy look.
"Wraps use Flash!" Kenny said.
Tangela, or Wraps, body flashed a light green and the cave was suddenly illuminated in light. I didn't see a trace of Pokémon anywhere so far. Calvin and Jerry soon returned their Pokémon before thanking them.
"Help me!"
"Did you guys hear that?" I panicked.
"I didn't hear anything. Are you okay?" Kenny asked in confusion.
"Yes but I know I heard something!" I exclaimed.
"Maybe it was your imagination," Jerry said in a bored tone.
"Never mind," I signed in frustration.
I just ignored the voices and kept walking. The cave we were walking in seems endless until we arrived at a giant opening. They're readings on the wall.
"Beware. Only people with a heart of stone can go through. The ancients must be protected by all means," Kenny read out loud.
"I think this means to turn around," Calvin muttered.
"Help me please"
There is the voice again. I clenched on to Chimchar as the voice was leading me through the entrance. An unknown force was pulling me further and further.
Once I passed the entrance, the sight was horrifying. Team Shadow grunts were everywhere and being knocked left and right by a Steelix.
In the center of the intense battle, I saw that blue-haired guy from Professor Redwood's lab and some blond hair man dressed in camouflage shorts and hiking boots.
"Corsala use Bubblebeam!" The blond-haired guy screamed.
"Cloyster, counter with your own Bubblebeam!"
A pink Pokémon with many coral branches opened its mouth and a barrage of bubbles attacked Cloyster. Cloyster closed it she'll to endure the attack and the fired more rapid bubbles back at Corsala.
"Hey it's some kids over here. Let's get rid of them," a grunt said.
"I'm not a kid!" Kenny and Calvin yelled in unity.
"Whatever, Haunter use Shadow Ball!" A grunt said.
"Banjee, counter with your own Shadow Ball!" Kenny yelled.
"Piplup use Bubblebeam!" Calvin yelled.
Two shadow spheres crashes into each other but Haunter was bombarded with a barrage of bubbles.
"Pichu get in there!" Jerry shouted.
"You too Leafeon!" I said.
"There more than that come from Haunter use Night Shade!" A female grunt said.
"Skunky use Sludge!" Another grunt said.
I had to think fast. Both Haunter and Skunky are Poison-types so Leafeon's at a disadvantage.
"I'm going after the blue-haired guy. Shadé come with me. I think Jerry and Kenny has this covered," Calvin said.
I nodded my head and followed after him. We ran up to where a Cloyster was battling a Corsala. The battle looked intense and neither side was budging. Suddenly the blond hair guy looked at us and glared.
Suddenly Chimchar started panicking in my arms and jumped out. He then stood behind me as if he was hiding from something.
"What are you kids doing here?" He boomed.
Calvin and I jumped in surprise before answering. Obviously from his tone, he is one of the good guys.
"We're here to help. Team Shadow must not prevail," I answered.
"You children are really starting to become a pain in my ass. Heatmor, show them no mercy," the guy said throwing another Poké Ball.
Out came a red lizard type Pokémon with a long tongue. I didn't know what type it was but I must be careful. Calvin looked at me before turning his attention back to the battle.
"Piplup use Bubblebeam!" Calvin said.
"Leafeon use Energy Ball!" I said.
Piplup opened his mouth a released a frenzy of bubble that struck Heatmor down. While Heatmor was down, the energy ball that Leafeon created crashed into him as well. Huh, that was easier than I thought it was going to be.
Heatmor stood up like nothing happened, which shocked me. Heatmor opened its mouth a huge stream of flames was coming right for us.
"Piplup, counter with Water Pulse. Togepi use Metronome!"
"Leafeon dodge it then use Leaf Blade!" I shouted.
Piplup twirled around a huge water sphere launched at Heatmor. Togepi wiggled her fingers and suddenly her hands was surrounded by water and she leaped out of Calvin's arms. Leafeon charged for Heatmor with her head leaf extending and glowing green.
Heatmor endured all the attacks and looked as if he didn't have a scratch. But how could this be. We hit Heatmor with everything that we had.
"Heatmor are you done with these children?" The blue-haired guy smirked.
I growled under my breath in frustration. I didn't know what to do next since I was out of ideas. I know there is some way I could get my point across.
"Corsala, finish with Head Smash!" The blond-hair guy said.
The blue-haired guy wasn't paying attention so Corsala smashed into his Cloyster with raw power and knocked it out. The blue-haired guy growled with anger before returning his Pokémon.
"Heatmor, let's go. Regirock await us!" The blue-hair guy said and ran off.
Regirock? What does Regirock have to do with anything? I need to follow him to find out.
"Calvin we need to follow him now!" I said running after the guy.
Calvin and the blond-haired guy was right behind me. Some other grunts trailed behind us so the blond-hair guy offered to get rid of them. I had no complaints.
We reach the end of the pathway where a stone pillar was perched in the center. The blue-haired guy had a malicious smile before turning towards it.
"Legend says if the grovel stone is broken the Regirock shall appear before us. Only a heart of stone can command it," he repeated.
"Help me."
"Well let's not see that happen! Leafeon use Energy Ball!" I shouted.
"Piplup use Ice Beam and Togepi use Metronome!" Calvin shouted.
"Heatmor use Heat Wave!" He said.
The heat wave pierced through the ice beam and energy ball and was coming straight at us. Togepi waved her arms and a storm cloud flew above us all releasing hail. When things could get worst, three Nosepass appeared and started launching electrical attacks everywhere.
"Togepi use Safeguard!" Calvin commanded.
Togepi raised her arms and a large green sphere surrounded us. The electrical attacks bounced off and started attacking Heatmor. Heatmor breathed a huge red flame that knocked the Nosepass into unconsciousness.
Something is very unsettling about that Heatmor's power. It almost matches Chimchar's when I seen him battle before. I looked behind my leg to still Chimchar cowering in fear. I picked up the Chimp Pokémon and cradled him in my arms to sooth him.
"Calvin the safeguard is breaking," I said as the barrier started to crack.
"I know! Togepi more power please?" Calvin pleaded.
Togepi jumped out of his arms and started to glow a faint white. Then the white light consumed her whole body as she started to get bigger. Calvin's eyes were glistening in tears as I know what was happening. Togepi was evolving.
Togepi grew slight large in size and her head, arms, and body extended. From her back, little wings sprouted and she was seen fluttering. Calvin instantly reached out to hug his newly evolved Togetic but I had to slap him into reality.
"I know you're happy and all that good stuff but we are trying to win an important battle sir!" I yelled.
"Heatmor, finish these kids! Qwilfish, let's get us a Regirock!" The blue-haired guy said.
"Shadé you go after him. I'll handle Heatmor. Blaziken and Samurott, let's finish this!" Calvin said.
I didn't have time to watch as I confront the guy. He commanded his Qwilfish to attack the pillar but I called out the rest of my team to try and stop him. My timing couldn't get worst as more grunts were pouring left and right at us.
"Leafeon use Energy Ball!"
"Mime Jr. use Confusion!"
"Beldum use Take-Down!"
"Tirtouga use Water Gun!"
"Happiny use Copycat!"
Grunts and Pokémon were getting attacked left and right. I charged straight at the blue-haired guy as the pillar was starting to crack.
"Little girl, you seem all out of Pokémon. What are you going to do!" He sneered.
Chimchar leaped out of my arms and launched a spiraling stream of flames at the guy. He ducked out the way and commanded his Qwilfish to retaliate. Qwilfish and Chimchar was exchanging blows for blows until one attack missed and hit the pillar, breaking it.
"Come now Regirock!" The guy yelled.
The pillar started to glow until it took a humanoid form. The form morphed into a grey figure with orange rock arms and stubby feet. In the center was 'h' on its face. Oh crap, I don't know what to do now.
"Now engaging in capture cage one!" The guy said.
A laser cage fell from the sky and was about to capture drop but something was pulling me protect Regirock.
"Leafeon cut it with Leaf Blade. Mr. Mime, slow it down with Confusion!" I said.
As they were performing their attacks, I ran to Regirock. Chimchar stood in front of me as the blue haired guy growled in frustration. He looked over and saw that his Heatmor was knocked out, pissing him off more.
"You brats won't ruin our plans," he said.
"Oh Bruce!" A feminine voice rang.
The blue haired guy, who I learned was Bruce paled. He suddenly turned his head to glare at a red curly haired woman with petrifying green eyes that matched his. They looked almost identical.
"Angelica, you aren't needed here!" He growled.
"On contraire dear brother. Boss man sent me here to assist you," she laughed maliciously.
Leafeon had a hard time trying to break the cage and it eventually trapped Regirock, Chimchar, and I. I can't let us go down like this but I don't have any Pokémon left. The cage went higher until it crashed into the ceiling and up into the canyon.
"Regirock I'm going to get you out of here. Don't worry!" I said as I pat Chimchar's head.
"Regi!" It said in a deep voice.
"Don't worry!" I said evenly.
"We can't bring the girl with us. Murkrow use Shadow Ball!" Angelica said.
Murkrow flew into the air and launched a huge shadowy spear at the cage. I covered my face to wait for the attack but it never came. Chimchar was repelling it back with a Fire Spin that matched its power.
"Thank you but you must go. I know you tried and I'm eternally grateful. Until next time Shadé," the same voice from earlier said.
I didn't have time to ask anything before Regirock pushed me out of the cage. Chimchar jumped behind me and tried to save me but it's not working out.
"Murkrow use Wing Attack!"
So this is it. I get pushed out a cage to fall to my doom. To suddenly die a tragic death. Oh the irony and déjà vú. Goodbye cruel world. If you couldn't tell, this is sarcasm.
Suddenly a felt a pair of arms catch me and is free traveling upwards. I open my eyes to see Calvin's Blaziken and Chimchar perched on my shoulder and determined. Chimchar launched a barrage of flames at Murkrow and it went tumbling down.
Blaziken clutched onto the rock wall and looked as the cage retracted into the Helicopter.
"I'm sorry I couldn't save you," I whispered.
"You're already forgiven," a voice whispered.
"Until next time brats!" Bruce exclaimed and retreated inside the helicopter.
-xXx-
"That was completely dangerous if you children," the blond hair guy said.
"No offense but who are you?" Jerry asked in bored tone.
The blond haired guy raised an eyebrow and replied saying, "My name is Zachary Jones and I am the Capital City Gym Leader!"
My eyes opened widely as I gapped at him. It would make sense since the gym was closed earlier.
"Sorry about him. He's always like this," Calvin apologized.
"Don't worry about. As reckless as you children are, I have to admit that you're all pretty strong. Especially to take down that many grunts," Zachary complimented.
I scooped Chimchar in my arms and nuzzled him. "I didn't know you were quite the battler!" I told him. Chimchar nuzzled me back and gave a happy cry.
"So what do we do about Team Shadow?" Kenny ask.
"We wait. They took Regirock but I don't know why but I'm going to find out," Zachary said.
"Oh and before I forget. Zachary, I challenge you to a gun battle!" I said as I looked into his eyes sternly.
Zachary challenged my stare and nodded his head. "Be there early little girl and I'll see what you're made of?" He smirked.
I smirked right back at him. From what I've seen he has rock Pokémon. He has no idea what's in store for him.
