Sal slowly approached the group with a devilish smile. He had waited so long to get his revenge, to get back at the wolves who imprisoned him in a cave. The days he spent thinking of what he would do to them. He thought about being creative and torturing them, but then he thought that they would just escape. So he decided to do it the easy way. Kill them all on the spot, quick and easy.
Of course his plan had changed over the years when he realized that all his old enemies, save for Smitty, would be long dead. But he could still sence the presence of their decendents. So he figured he'd just go for the next best thing. He was going to have so much pleasure in doing this.
As Sal approached them, the group all were backing up slowly. They knew if they tried to run he'd just appear right next to them and kill them on the spot. There was nothing they would be able to do. They were about to be killed by an enemy that was supposed to be killed off long ago. Someone that no one ever expected to see in their life-time. None of the were prepared for this. Especially not Smitty. He stood in front of everyone, especially his mate, protectively. If they were all about to die, he would be the first.
Sal took notice in this and smirked. "I see you found another mate, and she's pregnant by the looks of it. It will be fun tearing the fetus from her womb." He said sadisticly.
Everyone nearly threw up as he placed that picture in their heads. Smitty bared his fangs and his fur bristled. "You'll have to kill me before you lay a paw on any one of these wolves." He snarled.
Sal chuckles,"That was what I intend to do." He said as he prepared to pounce on Smitty. But Smitty was ready for this. He knew that this was his final stand, that nothing could save them now. So he might as well do what he's done most of his life, fight!
But it seemed that Smitty had been wrong about nothing being able to help him. Because right before either Sal or Smitty attacked one another, a giant blast of light came crashing down right in between then. A light so bright they were all forced to shield their eyes. The light lasted only for a few moments and then it vanished just as quickly as it appeared.
After he was sure the light had faded away Smitty uncovered his eyes and saw something he could not believe. In front of him stood his three best friends. All of them standing tall like the great wolves they are.
Sal stared ahead at them with wide eyes. 'How can this be possible?' He thought to himself. He knew resurrection was possible, but only under special circumstances, and a big sacrifice has to be made. Someone bent the rules, someone found a loop hole.
All three of the newly resurrected wolves turned to Sal and barred their fangs. Before anything could happen Sal decided to fight another day. So he dissappeard. Once he did, the screaming around the pack subsided, meaning either all Sal's minions went with him, or all the wolves are dead.
Luckily, wolves started making their way back to the pack. Not many though, meaning Sal nearly wiped out an entire pack in less than twenty minutes. A pack of 21 reduced down to 11. This included all the pups, Smitty and his mate and three others. They came back all beaten up and bloody. The female of the group was crying heavily as one of the guys was trying to comfort her, even though he didn't seem to be coping any better.
But Smitty payed them no attention. He was focused on the three new guest that just dropped in. He looked at them in awe and amazement. The three looked at their old friend and smiled. They haven't seen each other in 117 years. It doesn't seem that long when you're dead, but to Smitty it has felt like an eternity.
Then Humphrey gave Smitty a weird look. "What the heck are you wearing?" He asked.
"What do you mean 'what am I wearing', it's a cloak. I think it looks cool on me." Smitty retorted.
Humphrey and the other two just rolled their eyes.
"Over a hundred years and that's the first thing you have to say to me." Smitty said.
They all just stood there for a second staring at each other. That's when they all just broke out laughing and ran over to each other. They all embraced one another. The others looked at them like they were crazy. A maniac just came into their pack and almost killed them all.
"What's wrong with you wolves?" One of the survivors yelled. "Everyone's dead and your just laughing and hugging."
Humphrey turned to him with a cold glare. "When you've seen as much death as I have it dosn't really affect you that much anymore." He told them. Then he went right back to talking with Smitty.
"How are you guys even here? You should be dead." Smitty pointed out.
"Let's just say my brother knows a few tricks." Humphrey said which received a nod from Smitty.
"He always was a crafty one." Smitty said.
Humphrey laughed,"You can say that again."
Smitty then turned his attention over to the other two, Andy and David.
"And it's great to see you two. Its been so long."
"Yes it has old friend. Its great to see your face." Davis said.
"Is he happier than usual, I don't remember him ever being this happy." Andy said skepticaly.
David elbowed him in the ribs. "Ow! Wow, haven't felt pain in awhile." Andy said rubbing his side.
Smitty just laughed. "Yah, I guess I'm happier than usual. I guess that happens when you settle down and get a mate."
The three of them looked shocked, to say the least, when they heard Smitty had a mate. "That's something I thought I'd never hear." Andy said.
"Yah, no kidding. So where is she?" David asked.
Smitty motioned for Lindsay to come over. Slowly and cautiously she made her way over to the group.
"Lindsay, I would like you to meet some really old friends of mine: Humphrey, David and Andy. Guys, this is my mate Lindsay." Smitty said introducing them.
Lindsay's jaw dropped as she shook paws with the great wolves. "Its really nice to meet you." Humphrey said.
"Same." Lindsay said, still in a state of shock.
"I see your expecting." David said pointing to Lindsay's stomach.
"Yep, any week now." Smitty said.
"Congrats Bro. I'm glad your happy." Andy Congratulated.
"As happy as someone can get in a place like this." Smitty replied.
"Hey, are we going to talk about what just happened?" That same survivor shouted.
They all turned to him. Upon further inspection they could all see what condition he was in. He had claw marks all over his body, and he was caked in blood. He had obviously been crying, but right now he stood tall to protect his pride.
"Sal, that's what happened." Humphrey said.
"You mean that demon from those old stories. How could that be true. Its said he was killed by Humphrey the Great." He said.
Humphrey sighed. "That's not exactly what happened."
"And how do you know. You're not even apart of this pack. Where did you come from."
"You're right, I'm not from this pack, I own this pack. I am Humphrey and I along with two of the other greats have come back to save Jasper."
The stranger looked him up and down and then became wide eyed. All the stories he was told perfectly described this wolf and the others.
'could they be...' He thought.
"Yes, we are." Humphrey said.
Everyone looked at them in awe. Things got a lot more interrsting.
