A/N: Remember when I said there shouldn't be any writer's block…? Heheh. Well.

And for today's anecdote, I finally got a really nice bridle with a set of braided reins and Lila breaks them after about three weeks. Good for her. In other news, she's made amazing leaps and bounds in her training. She has potential to go to the A Circuit for the Hunter/Jumpers, most likely higher since she has the passion for it. Not to mention the fact that I've seen her canter in a circle in her paddock and then clear the four and a half foot fence into the pasture on the other side.

I was also considering starting a new blog related to my fics and my KaZe Adventures in Drabbling. I love KaZe Drabbling, and I wanted to have a section for people to give me drabble prompts so I can do them on request, as well as feature some artwork I've been dabbling with recently, post cute GIFs, and leave updates on chapter progress. Would anyone support it?

Your Heaven

Chapter Five – Feeling Good

Sunlight poured in through the naked windows, illuminating Zero's very drab bedroom and the two bodies who were curled in what would appear to anyone else as a very uncomfortable and compromising position. Zero was the first to awaken, refusing to open his eyes with the way the morning light glared into his room and scrutinized not only the way he was wrapped up in Kaname's arms, but also his actions in the events of the night before. Like it was any of anyone else's business, and Zero scoffed quietly, turning his head into the still deeply sleeping Kaname's firm chest. The older man was warm, the sound of his life force pounding away in his chest was soothing.

For just a second, though, Zero did open his eyes and let them wander down Kaname's flawless body, wondering how he managed to be so beautiful with perfect, even skin and not a scar in sight. His gaze roamed among the flat plains of Kaname's stomach and then back up to his face. Though it was clad in two-day-old stubble, Zero could clearly see the careful craftsmanship that was used to put this man together. Everything about him was proportionate, neat, and fit together flawlessly, from his full lips to his long eyelashes and sculpted brows. A lock of his chocolate-coloured hair curled around and stuck to his cheek. Zero reached up before he could stop himself and brushed it away; a thought occurred to him that… he had probably seen Kaname at his worst, and just maybe he was the only one who had. Kaname seemed like one of those guys that had it all together and kept emotion out of it; last night, for whatever reason, he'd hit the breaking point, and of all people Zero was there to sweep up the pieces.

Well… not that it mattered. When Kaname woke up, he would shower, have his breakfast, and then maybe he would see him again the next time he came in for bentos and energy drinks. He'd fall into a vicious cycle once again, but Zero wouldn't be there to play doctor next time. He didn't have to. He shouldn't want to. He did. Something about Kaname made him want to.

He closed his eyes and forced the thoughts from his head—he was just sexually attracted anyway; after all, they'd just met and knew nothing about each other. And he didn't want to know either. Finalizing this, he turned over, hiding his eyes in the crook of his elbow and finally falling back to sleep.

A few hours later, Kaito returned from the woman's apartment just a few blocks away from there where he'd spent the night in the company of his go-to girl. Satisfied, he hung up his keys and tossed his things off into the closet. When he came through the kitchen to make a peanut butter and jam sandwich and then went to flop down on the couch, he noticed that there was an extra jacket placed carefully over top of Zero's and it was expensive. So… either Zero had stolen it or…. But it couldn't be…. Zero with company just wasn't something that was comprehensibly possible. Abandoning the sandwich on the coffee table, Kaito took careful steps, toe-first to make the least amount of noise possible and ducked around the corner when he'd made it all the way to Zero's room.

The sight was shocking.

The silverette lay with his back to a handsome brunette's chest, both of them breathing softly in time with one another unconsciously. This foreign contaminant, as Kaito thought of him, had his arm secured around Zero's thin white body to hold him close and Zero had long since falling asleep, had moved one hand down to lace fingers with Kaname. It was too much for Kaito to handle by himself and he slapped the doorframe a few times to rouse the sleepy lovers from their dormant state.

"Rise and shine, sleeping beauties!"

What fully roused the two wasn't Kaito's incessant banging or his voice which grated into their minds to destroy the peace they'd secured themselves in sleep. It was a quick but bright flash followed by a sharp beep. Zero opened his eyes to see Kaito aiming his phone's camera in their direction and pushed himself to sit up, shoving Kaname away completely. "What the fuck are you doing?"

"Facebook, obviously." He shrugged with a hint of a devilish smirk, backing as far away as he could as Zero crossed the room in a few angry strides. As he held his hands up in defense, Zero snatched the phone, deleted the pictures, then shoved it back into Kaito's hands and slammed the door in his face. He went about the room, pulling on a pair of boxers and a loose-fitting long-sleeved shirt, grumbling angrily while Kaname slipped quietly off the edge of the bed to collect his things off the floor. There was a sharp pain in his back that he instinctively reached up to knead at and Zero noticed, glancing at the spot that Kaname had previously been laying.

"There's a broken spring in the bed. You probably laid on it."

Kaname grunted out some semblance of a chuckle, though his knitted brows clearly said he was irritated and fighting off the effects of a hangover. "Yes, I feel that."

There was a drawn out silence that lasted a few minutes as Zero retrieved the bottle of lube off the floor and placed it back in the side table, then tied the bag in his garbage can and began to replace it. It was just affirmation of what had happened the night before, and though they both knew they were better off to forget, it probably wasn't going to happen any time soon. Zero could still feel a bit of a sting in his ass when he sat down to pull his socks off and toss them in the hamper. Kaname couldn't even look at Zero without remembering that he had a kind of sick taste in his mouth, worse than just needing to brush his teeth, and that pounding in his head that told him he'd drank too much… just not enough to erase the sound of Zero's panting in his ear. He liked the idea of the silverette all undone at his pleasure and mouldable in his fingers, like putty. But Zero came off as the kind of guy that was single for a reason. Probably one-night stands were normal for him, and that was probably all he wanted. It wasn't a particularly sore spot for Kaname, but he was grateful for the night that had opened a door for him and moved him one step closer to forgetting Yuuki and getting on with his life.

One more step.

That was something else. Binge drinking, then rebound sex…. Then what? It wasn't that he was naively following Zero's drunken rambling; he was just curious. It seemed like the heavy alcohol intake had removed a great deal of the edge even though now he felt like shit and was promising himself that he was never going to drink like that again; and actually, the sex had released the tension in his muscles and he felt relaxed if not a little undecided upon where he stood regarding his feelings of physical romance with those of the same gender. Maybe it was just drunken rambling, or maybe it was something that Zero had either observed in life or had whittled down to a science after some bad experiences; but if it was working, then he wanted to know. What was that third step? He looked up and began to ask, but the door was just shutting with Zero on the opposite side as he did so and Kaname frowned, running a hand over the hair that had grown on his jaw.

Well, maybe it didn't matter as much as he was making it seem.

When Kaname slipped out of the room in his shirt and boxers, he heard the shower running and couldn't keep himself from imagining Zero completely wet, caressed by billowing clouds of steam. There was a slight thought of pushing him up against the wall and repeating periods three and four of last night's game, over and over this time. Now that Kaname felt a little more awake and refreshed, he figured he could take it a few rounds without hassle… the worst part was that he wanted it.

Zero on the other hand stood there like a drowned rat with water streaming over his face, silver hair slicked down into his eyes. He reached around to feel his sore ass and frowned as hard as he possibly could because he'd only had to deal with this the first handful of times he'd had sex; this wasn't right, and he didn't like it. Kaname was going to be on his mind every time he felt that sting, and he really didn't want to think about him any more than he already was; there was no reason for it. So what? The guy had gone through a hard time and he wasn't at all the kind of person Zero thought he was. That didn't mean that he needed to resonate within Zero's mind any longer. He'd made up his mind long ago; nothing would ever matter to him except for exacting his revenge—he would be damned if Kaname was going to get in the way of that.

It took him almost a half an hour to finish in the shower and by then his pale skin was tinged pink. He came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist and walked across the hall into his room, hoping Kaname would already be gone. No, there he was, sitting patiently on the bed, still in his shirt and underwear, wearing a very flat expression. Instead of indulging the brunette and asking him what that damned look was about, Zero pulled the towel from his mostly dry waist and tossed it into his hamper, slipping on a pair of black briefs and then heading to his closet for a t-shirt and a pair of dark blue denim jeans. He could feel Kaname's eyes on him the whole time, and frankly it was making him uncomfortable. Didn't this guy know the etiquette of a one-night stand? He really needed to be gone already.

It took Zero a moment to get annoyed enough to say something about it. "Don't you have somewhere to be?"

Kaname responded with a small smile that wasn't at all friendly. "Your room mate has informed me that I am welcome to stay as long as I wish. Either way, I need to shower before I leave in case I'm caught sneaking out of this dump, so I can keep some dignity intact. And I had something to ask you, so I would have had to wait anyway."

"Is that so." It wasn't a question. It was in fact, quite bitter as Zero busied himself in the closet with his back turned to the older male. Somehow he felt even more vulnerable this way.

"It is."

"Ask away."

"What's the third step?"

"Excuse me?" Zero had to look over his shoulder at this point, because he was completely confused. What the Hell what this guy talking about? Third step— Oh. Yeah, he'd been pretty plastered that night. The three steps to getting over… whatever. Something. Zero wasn't quite sure anymore, but he knew that these were the things that had worked for him in the past, minus step one because the last few years he hadn't had access to that one. What was funny about this was that Kaname was intensely curious and he could just about hear it in his voice rather than see it in his eyes. He could tell that this very important figure in a large company was a hard man to read, kept mostly to himself, was tenacious, took challenges head on (literally in Zero's case) and it made him successful in almost everything. It was just funny that someone who so outwardly had all his shit together could be so broken and reliant on self-destructive habits.

"There's binge drinking, then there's rebound sex. What is number three?"

Zero tried to disguise a chuckle as a cough and an exasperated sigh, but Kaname the ever perceptive noticed and Zero turned back to face the closet with a hard frown. "That's stupid. Obviously it's—"

Whatever left the silverette's mouth next was completely silenced by the ear-piercing screech of the smoke alarm in the hallway, which had the two men rushing out in unison to see what was happening. Kaname was more alerted to the fact that there may be a fire in the building that was sorely under code, while Zero was certain that Kaito was burning something; this was affirmed by the black smoke pouring out of the kitchen, the sight of which made Kaname stop in the middle of the hall to watch as Zero bravely plowed onward, waving the smoke away as he looked for the source of the problem. Sure enough there was a frying pan on the stove with what appeared to be a grilled cheese, or at least the ashen remnants of one, nested happily amongst a lovely orange flame. Zero groaned, taking a bag of flour from a nearby cupboard to drown the fire in while the smoke detector continued to wail in agony. When Zero exited the kitchen complete with sour expression, Kaname decided it was best to follow along and help him to open all the windows and wave the smoke out with a throw pillow from the couch.

Before long, the smoke detector had shut the Hell up and Zero had tossed the whole frying pan knowing that there was no way it was ever going to be good enough to use again. In the end, after discovering that Kaito had left with the stove still on, for whatever reason, the silverette flopped himself down on the couch, groaning in exasperation. "It wasn't just this time, either. He just leaves huge messes for me to take care of all the fucking time."

"Why do you even live with him?" Kaname sat next to him, one leg crossed over the other with a mug of tea that Zero had made him after he'd been through the shower and was now fully clothed, his shirt left with the first three buttons open. There was no way Zero could possibly look at him like this; he kept his eyes locked on the television's black screen, refusing to turn away. Having scrubbed off the scent of liquor and subject his face to a clean shave, Kaname turned out to be almost twice what Zero had given him credit for—there had to be some kind of law against this, really. Under the stubble he'd been collecting, no doubt out of lack of motivation, Kaname still looked young—too young in fact for Zero to easily believe what he'd claimed about the position he held in his career.

Still, ignoring it as much as he possibly could, Zero shrugged in response; it was the most noncommittal answer he could give while wondering the same thing himself. If he needed a new roommate, there were probably tons of ads in the paper, and really no excuse to stay living with an asshole with a bad sense of humour, a lazy streak, and an astounding knack for womanizing. But in the end, the rent was cheap, there was food in the fridge, and Kaito had given him a bed to use, which was more than he could probably say for a lot of other people. In fact, how many people did he know that would willingly take in a known killer who'd just been released from jail? Kaito wasn't originally from the area, so he either didn't know or couldn't care about the kinds of things that the locals accused him of, and for that Zero was thankful. So the honest answer to the question was because Kaito had accepted even his flaws without judgement, and though Zero wasn't exactly fond of him as a person, he was happy to feel some form of acceptance where he hadn't in such a long time.

Kaname waited for a real answer, received none after a long moment and sighed, "You don't have to tell me then." Even though he was sorely disappointed, he knew it wasn't his place; instead of pressing he just stood, collecting his jacket off the back of the couch, much to the surprise of the silverette whose expression clearly read that he wasn't too certain he wanted Kaname to leave just yet. They didn't know each other, and this place was honestly too disgusting for Kaname to feel entirely comfortable, but… he hoped sincerely he could see Zero again after this. There was a connection between them, where they just clicked and it didn't feel like they had to work to get an understanding across, even when they spent time in silence. He'd woken up that morning with Zero fitting perfectly into his embrace, like he'd known he would…. He remembered all the times he'd have to explain himself to Yuuki, squirm and wriggle into the perfect sleeping position, have her break the silence with a whine about something or other…. When he looked back on it, though he loved her, everything he'd done with Yuuki… their marriage, the sex, the kids, the whole relationship… all of it felt forced.

"Later," Zero said shortly as Kaname pulled on his shoes and left, but he didn't offer anymore. Though it was a standard dismissal, Kaname couldn't help but nod once to himself, almost smiling—Zero hadn't said good bye; and whether the silver-haired young man had realised it or not, this meant that it couldn't be, wouldn't be over.

Unwittingly, Zero had invited Kaname back into his life, not even thinking about the consequences it would bring.

Hotxhotguy: I'm definitely going to do it, yes; lol! To answer your question, I'm going to say… well, when a woman, in a flurry of loneliness, anger, sexual frustration, and confusion decides to leave her husband, it's not likely that she'd leave her kids as well, especially when she's a stay at home mom. Since the oldest is ten, she wouldn't have been able to leave them alone anyway. Kaname, as a good father, is still going to love his kids no matter how much he begins to resent their mother for being a bitch. So far, my only plan for them is to make a quick cameo in the last chapter and basically star in two of the side stories. They'll be mentioned throughout the series though, I reckon.

Reapercchi: Thank you, thank you~ Smokey. Like… smoked black forest ham…. Damn, I'd almost forgotten how hungry I was. And yes; that whole scene was probably my favourite part to write in that chapter. Zero drunkenly bashing Yuuki and telling Kaname off at the same time while inadvertently trying to comfort him? Come on, that's totally my wet dream. :D

Ben4Kevin: Ahahaha, no one likes him anyway. Don't feel bad. And who could honestly regret sleeping with either one of them? They're damn sexy. In a miniskirt. /shot
