HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Not to me, but 27 days until my birthday. Until then Happy Birthday to Kendall and Katelyn! Kendall is 23 and Katelyn is 24 today for those who don't know. It makes me so emotional to know that they are getting older. They both were 19 and 20 when they began filming the show (as they are right now in the story.) I am so happy that they share a birthday! How cute? I feel like they were just meant to be friends (and not twins as some people will suggest because of the eyebrows.) In honor of their birthday, I wanted to give you guys a chapter that has them both and because it's been a while since my last update. So Happy Birthday to my otp, KenKat! -xoxoTak
P.S. I am still shaky on updates so bare with me!
"Hey Katelyn, can we talk?" Kendall whispered to the girl in front of him who was taking a sip of her coffee. She looked at him confused.
"Why? What's wrong?" She asked, knowing that the only time Kendall ever wanted a private conversation was when something happened between them.
Kendall didn't know how to confront her about the drunken message he left her, confessing some of his deepest darkest desires about her the night before. He rubbed the back of his neck and gave her a weird look.
"Is everything okay Kendall?" She asked, worried.
"Um… can we talk in private?" He asked, barely speaking.
She shrugged her shoulders and got up. "I'm going to go see what songs they have in the jukebox, Kendall would you like to join me?" She said, trying to play off their sudden need for privacy as a normal situation.
"Yeah, I'll help!" He jumped to his feet and paced quickly behind her. They went over to the jukebox on the other side of the diner, and barely faced one another, pretending to be looking for a song.
"What's going on?" Katelyn asked, wanting an explanation fast.
"Um I- uh…" Kendall was at a loss of words on how to apologize. Mostly because he didn't want to make himself look like an even bigger idiot by bringing it up. He didn't even know if Katelyn had listened to the voicemail. Judging from her confused expression, he didn't think she had, making his situation even worse.
"Kendall what the hell is going on?" She asked again, hands crossed across her chest, pushing her boobs up, showing small cleavage through the neckline of her shirt, distracting Kendall, and making him regret everything even more.
Katelyn stared at him with a furrowed brow. She examined the boy and he looked worn out with bags under his eyes and a reddening eyes. She didn't know what happened the night before, but she was sure he was not feeling like his full self.
Kendall sighed audibly, starting to feel the hangover worsen. He contemplated how to tell her that he sent her a voicemail last night when he was piss-drunk that revealed little too much information that he'd ever admit out loud. He sucked a sharp breath of air before speaking.
"Last night the guys and I were out clubbing, we got drunk, and I ended up making a few accidental calls saying a lot of things I never meant to say." He stared down the whole time he spoke, ashamed and nervous of her reply.
"You called me last night?" She asked confused.
"You're the only person I called." He mumbled slightly.
"I didn't get any calls. My phone's been broken for the past two days; I'm surprised you didn't know. That's why I've been so late to work, my phone was my alarm." Katelyn told Kendall with a small chuckle.
"Oh." Kendall perked up a bit, but not enough to be happy. Her phone may be broken, but her number works fine as well as the company, which will just send her the message as soon the phone is fixed.
"When you get your phone fixed, do me a favor, don't listen to that message." Kendall told her.
"Can I ask why not?"
"Trust me, it's best if you don't." He said. "It's just me drunk rambling and ranting about everything, it was mostly a butt dial, because I was talking to a park bench as I recall." Kendall played off.
Katelyn rolled her eyes. "Seriously Kendall?"
He smiled at her nervously.
She laughed. "If that was it, why'd you have to tell me in private?"
"It's embarrassing okay." He said rubbing the back of his neck.
"I guess." She said. "Soooo just curious, why'd you guys go out last night?"
"We just needed a guys night before we got too busy, you know." He answered.
"I guess that makes sense since we start filming again and you guys have the album release as well."
Kendall nodded. They both went back to join the others who had already began eating without them.
"Gee thanks for waiting!" Kendall said to the guys, whose faces were stuffed.
"Sobby but we bere ungry." Carlos said, eating.
Katelyn and Kendall sat down and ate with the others. Erin and Stephen left the group to go somewhere else as soon as they finished, leaving Katelyn behind with the guys. They all made small talk, discussing music and the show. They joked about the drama the writers kept adding between characters, especially Kendall and Jo.
"I think it adds to the comedy of it all." Katelyn said, smiling at Kendall who had been quiet on the topic.
"What do you think Kendall?" James asked the sullen boy.
"I think they should focus on getting Carlos here a girlfriend." Kendall joked, patting the Latino boy on the back who laughed at him sarcastically.
Katelyn rolled her eyes at Kendall and chose to ignore Kendall's remark. "I think Kendall's just mad because Jo might be getting a new love interest." She said.
"Hey! Jo at least still wants me in the end even if Jett gets in the way!" Kendall shot back, getting worked up over something so harmless. He was just angry that they were still talking about Kendall and Jo as if Kendall wasn't even a real person, yeah he was half a character, but his emotions were partially real for Katelyn's character and the actress herself.
They all stopped talking and Katelyn was surprised at the blond boy's attitude. She politely excused herself from the group to go to the bathroom, but it was just an excuse to let the guys talk to Kendall and calm him down. She'd do it herself, but she thought it best if she didn't constantly press him to reveal his feelings to her in order for him to move on.
"Dude what is your deal?" James said as soon as Katelyn disappeared.
"What deal?" Kendall retorted.
"You've had a bad attitude for too long Kendall. All we're trying to do is help you." Logan said.
"Well I didn't ask for the help now did I?" Kendall said.
"No, but you're gonna get it anyway." Carlos said.
"We get it Kendall, you're being a broken hearted little bitch right now, but you don't need to be an actual little bitch just because you can't fucking have her. I'm sorry, but the faster you accept it, the faster you'll go back to normal and move on and the faster she'll stop feeling guilty about hurting you when it's not her damn fault." James added, annoyed by his best friend.
They were all right. Kendall knew he was just lashing out because he was still dealing with the hear break. He didn't know how to cope without being a total wreck or being the biggest asshole ever. He knew he had to get a grip of himself before he ruined his friendship with her and had her hate him.
When Katelyn came back, Kendall apologized to her and she accepted it. She didn't want things to get weird again, even though they already felt like it with the constant apologizing and awkward hellos. She decided that it was time for her to go, not wanting to feel more awkward with the group.
"I guess I'll kiss you later then." Kendall joked, hoping to crack a smile on her face.
She did smile, but in a sad way that told him she was still uncomfortable with all that's happened between them and his admission. She shrugged her shoulders and then left. Kendall sat sadder than ever and decided he really did need to move on.
