Chapter 9

Demyx woke up the next morning, not to his usual alarm, but instead to an incessant pounding on his door. He pulled the pillow over his head, trying to knock out the sound. As he found himself being lulled back into sleep, he felt the pillow being ripped from his grasp.

He opened his eyes slowly, seeing a sleep-blurred face and red hair. "Axel… Go away, 'm sleeping…" He murmured. "Time to get up, Demyx. We have some training to do." Demyx felt something made of leather being thrown on him. "I'll give you five minutes to get up and get dressed before I dump a bucket of ice water on you."

With that, Axel walked out into the hallway, closing the door behind him. Demyx groaned as he sat up, he didn't quite know Axel well enough to decide if he would follow through on his threat. So, he got up and inspected the closet to find his uniform.

He opened the closet doors to find a fault the color black. There were black tank tops, black jeans, black coats, black gloves, and black boots. They got dressed slowly, thinking about how much he was beginning to hate the color black. It was dull, lifeless. A little color wouldn't hurt, would it?

Soon, his door opened and Axel walked back in. It seemed he wasn't kidding as Demyx noticed the bucket in his hands. "I guess you actually followed orders," he chuckled, "bravo." Demyx couldn't stop himself and before you knew it, the words were out, "why is everything so black-and-white here? Where's all the color?"

Axel leaned back on his heels and put his hands in the back pockets of his jeans as he pondered the question. He didn't have his coat or gloves on, seeing as he had left them in the arena while training that morning. "I'm not sure, never really thought about it before. But if it's color you're wanting, we could decorate your room or something after training."

Demyx brightened up thought of seeing something other than the bare white walls of his bedroom. "Yeah, that'd be nice." "Alright, kid, follow me. First things first, we need to figure out your element." Axel opened a portal and walked through, Demyx followed him, wondering what would be on the other side.

They came out and what looked like a sort of garden. There was a small pond, lots of greenery, and lit torches. It was amazing. "So, you're going to try to manifest your element. Just close your eyes and call on your power."

Demyx closed his eyes and tried to focus until he felt something very wet touch his hand. He opened his eyes to see water slowly rising out of the pool and gathering in his grasp. The water felt warm to him, the kind of warm you feel in spring where nothing is too hot or too cold.

"It seems like you control water. All right, next we need to see what your weapon is." "Weapon?" Axel just smirked at him, "what are you deaf or something? Yes, a weapon. Mine are chakrams." And in a burst of fire, Axel's chakrams were in his hands.

"Now you try. Just visualize your need for a weapon and it should appear." Demyx didn't know what to expect but he did as he was told. He hoped and prayed for a weapon and a few seconds later his sitar appeared in his hands.

Axel stared at him, confused, "your weapon… Is a musical instrument?" Demyx a shrugged, "I guess so."
