Chapter 12
Everyone in the Organization knew if you were looking for Axel, you would most likely find him with Demyx. Over the past couple of months the two had bonded becoming as close as brothers. Axel always put up with Demyx's incessant music playing, had his back in battle, and always defended him to the higher ups in the Organization. Demyx was the only one who could deal with Axel's flares of temper and could almost always tell when something was off with his friend. But this all changed with the thirteenth member joined the Organization.
Demyx was a little annoyed when he found out that a meeting had been called by Xemnas. Their weekly meeting had been the day before and he had thought that he was through hearing their "great" leader ramble on about his ever-growing love for Kingdom Hearts. So, he opened a portal and ended up right in his seat in the circular, marble throne room.
It seemed everyone else had beat him there, except for Axel, who he hadn't seen all morning. His thoughts were interrupted by a deep voice, "The glory of Kingdom Hearts is to be graciously acknowledged on this magnificent occasion. Let us all welcome one of the keyblade's chosen." The doors swung open to reveal a young boy, who looked about the age of fourteen. His hair was a light shade of blonde almost perceived a bright yellow and it spiked off to the right. His blue eyes held almost no emotion as he stared down at his boot clad feet.
Axel was right behind the boy, evidently escorting him in. "If you introduce him, VIII." The redhead raised an eyebrow questioningly, opening his mouth to challenge Xemnas. He obviously thought better of himself as he instead snapped his mouth closed and put a hand on the newbie's shoulder. "This here is our thirteenth member, Roxas, who Superior has assigned as my charge. Do not harass him while I am mentoring him or you will most likely get a flaming chakram up your ass."
Demyx watched in awe as instead of reprimanding Axel, Xemnas just dismissed them all, probably going off to talk to the moon yet again. He used a dark corridor to get down onto the floor, "Ax, I didn't see you earlier. Wanna go-?" But Axel cut him off, waving him away, "I don't have time to talk, Dem. Have to go help this kid learn some defense." And with that, Axel went into his own dark corridor, taking the blonde newcomer with him. Demyx felt a look of confusion come over his features, seeing as this was the first time Axel had ever blown him off, and it hurt, like a blow to the stomach.
But it wouldn't be the last time it happened. Over the next few months, Demyx rarely saw Axel, and when he did, it wasn't long enough to talk. He was beginning to feel like Axel had replaced him with the new kid.
