Demons of the Past: Part 1: Chapter 4: The Book

Do not own MLP. Or Pyro.

Recap: "You can read this!?" She said getting closer to his face.

"Uh yeah, I know a lot of languages,"

Twilight perked up.

"Can you help me translate these books? It would mean a lot... I don't know why but I feel it's important."

The colt smiled. "Sure thing." He said holding out his hoof. She smiled and took it. "I'm Twilight Sparkle, Celestia's apprentice." The orange unicorn gave a surprised expression then smiled warmly once again. "It is a pleasure to meet you; I am Pyrojack, apprentice of Princess Luna."

-—

Twilight stood, mouth open. "Luna took an apprentice?"

Pyro grinned and scratched his mane. "Yeah..."

"..."

They stood in awkward silence for a bit, and then pyro sat down in front of the books. "Well shall I get started?" He asked, opening the book with a bit of orange magic that flickered like flame.

Twilight joined him next to the books. "Begin when you're ready."

Pyro looked at the books for a bit. "Some I the passages are crossed out, warning, this story may have some plot holes."

"It's fine. Just read it."

"Unknown to all earth ponies, Pegasus ponies and unicorn ponies..."

-—

Unknown to all earth, Pegasus, and unicorn ponies, there existed another race that was hidden in the lies of history. This other race was known as Demon Ponies. They have the form of all the races, earth, Pegasus and unicorn, because when born, they are seem regular.

But to no matter, they are destined to be taken in by the others of the race and transformed into this other "race."

All demon ponies are mostly colorless, grey black or white, and have twisted forms. Horns twisting back, wings of leather. Not to be taken as bat ponies. They are much, much, worse. - Their queen's name is Dracola; she is the only alicorn of their race. -

The true objective of the demon ponies seem unknown, but they seem to only want bloodshed and carnage - awakening stone, used to coax out a demon ponies true form and tear them away from their old bodies, if they do not turn by choice, most often they don't, it seems ponies lose the good part of their soul when turned into a Demon pony -

Came the darkest of all demon ponies, so dark and twisted, he was sought to be eliminated by his own race - could destroy any normal pony with a blink of his eye and did not flinch a bit. Often fought the Princess of the sun. - only known weapon, razor wings, - Death - This "Demon of demons" was eventually taken out when the Queen herself and many higher class demons got together and Ambushed the Colt. He was buried in the Everfree forest, where the ground was sown with Cross water. - The only thing they had done well was getting rid of the Demon of Demons. - prophesy foretold of an end by his hooves. Luckily he was ended before it could be carried out. - Over the centuries, after the demon of demons fall, the demon ponies began to die out and fade into the shadows of history, becoming an old Mare's tale - Magic under -

"That's odd," Pyro claimed as he tilted his head, and stood up.

He levitated the books with his orange magic.

"What?" Twilight said looking up, confused.

"There seems like there should be more in these books. But most of the second half of the books is just blank.

"What do you mean?" The purple mare said standing up and tilting her head to the side, exam anime the pages. As Pyro flipped through them, she noticed they were indeed blank.

"Look!" Pyro said drooping them to the page the last writing was.

The words were fading, one letter at a time, just melting away into white.

"There disappearing... What in Celestia's kingdom..."

Soon, the page was blank and the next page began to fade away.

"Why...?" They said as they stared at the book.

The book just sat there, the words fading before their eyes, and there was nothing they could do.

A shimmer caught Pyro's eye.

"Is that?"

He leaned down and saw that the edges of the three books glowed slightly with grey magic.

"A unicorn pony is doing this!" He said rashly. He then turned back to Twilight. "Search the library for who is doing this!" He said as he trumped through the library looking for any unicorns using magic, but for the most part it was empty.

Twilight did the same, and the few other ponies who were there shushed them. After minutes of pointless searching, the two apprentices met in front of the books, panting.

"I didn't find anything..." Breathe out Pyro heavily.

"You?"

Twilight shook her head.

The orange colt looked back at the book and cursed.

"It's all gone. All of the text in the three books..."

He stopped his hoof on the ground in agitation.

"Any pony who DARES erase a book will have me to deal with!" He said nostrils flaring.

"L-look." Twilight said looking at the books, hoof extended.

The books where all opened up half way and on each page, the same words.

"You may seek the words,

But you will not find them here,

They have been erased. You have learned too much already.

You only have this shell of a book, a new slate, where a new history will be written in blood."

Death Slasher dipped, narrowly dodging a branch. He passed another, and another, and another. His heart was beating and he could feel every part of his body. His eyes narrowed as he shot up, into the air. He beat hard with his wings. PonyVille was being a small mass under him. He would get higher this time, he had to. He needed to. His ego wouldn't let him not. He felt the wind pull his cheeks back, and he clenched his teeth.

He was flying strait up, beside a mountain, looking for that one spot where, yes! The white mark he made last time was now below him, meaning he passed what he had done last time. He kept going, and finally the top of the mountain was behind him, getting farther away.

Every single muscle in his body ached and he could take it no more.

He simply stopped,

Let himself fall down, down. He didn't flap. Just let himself free fall.

It was simply, a very strange feeling. One he loved.

Adrenalin.

Oh how he lived for it.

Live to feel alive.

And at that moment he did truly feel alive. Very, very alive.

Alive? You feel Alive? You're not even REAL. You're a façade. The FAKE and you're not even alive anyway. YOUR DEAD.

A voice. It called out to him. Slash's ear twitched and he opened his closed eyes just a bit, emerald eyes almost glowing. He was much closer to the ground now.

But, he could not move.

A chuckle from inside...

It was as if the voice paralyzed it.

For the first time in a while, he was having second thoughts.

I'll have you. Soon.

At that last second, he was freed from the paralysis and he snapped his wings open and managed to land into a pond. It was a loud, large splash, and Slash had to drag himself out of the water. He panted on the beach for a bit.

He was very, very sore. Every bone in his body ached, along with his lungs. But most of all, his scar ached.

He clenched his teeth and let himself fall unconscious. He didn't notice the black that branched from the center if his chest. Right where the stone had been placed. It continued to move out till the area around it was tainted and the branched veins covered his legs, neck and part if his back. The stone came to surface, and a glimmer of yellow shone before the veins moved back into his center and pushed the stone back in. Slash's erotic heart beat slowed.

Pyro and Twilight charged down the corridors at full speed, past glass windows that showed the triumphs over the years the Elements of harmony and other ponies made. Twilight thought that maybe this was the beginning of a new, bigger, grander quest and she gave a small smile. Maybe this was something for the elements of harmony once more... Then she realized needing the elements were not good, it meant equestrian was in grave danger. This new threat, whatever it was, was more dark then the land could tolerate.

The only thing she could think was that these "demon ponies" had returned, who else would not what them reading the ins and outs of their races lifestyle, and history.

Finally the two unicorns made it to the end of the long hallway and stopped in front of the door. "You ready?" He said. "Yeah..." She agreed, sucking in a large amount of air to get her breathing back under control.

They pushed the door open, entering the large hall.

Princess Celestia sat on her throne, a scroll levitating in front of her.

She looked up when the two apprentices enters the hall and bowed.

"Ah, Twilight, hello. And Pyrojack! Finally got your head out of those books I see." She gave a smile to assure she was joking. "What can I help you with?"

"Princess, we need to show you something..."

"Go ahead..."

Pyro pulled out the three books and sent them over to the white Alicorn.

"These are the books I came to translate, and with Pyro's help we were actually reading them!" Twilight said excitedly.

"And what where they about?" Celestia asked, furrowing a brow.

"Well this race called demon ponies. And-"

"You don't actually believe in them do you?" Celestia said with a now raised eyebrow.

"They are just an old mare's tale."

"Well we weren't really believing it until, well, the words started to disappear! Right in front of our eyes."

Twilight took a breath, and Pyro continued for her. "We saw the magic effecting the book, and when all the words were gone, new ones appeared."

Celestia opened the books then and read them.

Her eyes flashed with horror, but quickly hid her emotions once more.

She turned to the guard next to her.

"Get me Vendetta, please."

"Of course, princess." Then he ran out.

Twilight and Pyro looked at each other, confused.

"I want you two to go back to your normal activities, Twilight goes back to Pony Ville and has some fun with your friends, and you don't need to worry about this. Pyro, tell Luna I need to see her."

"Of course, M'lady" Pyro said hesitantly, then turned away. When they were out of earshot, Pyro cursed. "I can't believe she's ignoring this!" He said stomping a hoof. "I don't care; I'm still going to research this... Want to join me?"

Twilight looked down. "I Dunno... Celestia told me to go back to Ponyville... She'll wonder why I have not left."

"Do you have a way to communicate long distance?"

"Well I have Spike, the dragon... But he only knows how to send letters to Celestia."

"..."

"Well I have a spell I know that can send small objects to faraway places... I could give you the scroll with the spell; you could learn it and we could communicate through letters that way." Pyro said with an excited step in his voice.

"Sounds like a plan." Twilight said, giving Pyro a smile.

"Crap! I got to go get Lady Luna!" He said charging away, tail flying behind him like a wild fire.

"Meet me in the library in an hour! I'll have the spell. May Luna watch over you!" He called back to her.

"And Celestia you!" She replied.

She turned away and ran straight into a large colt.

He had copper armor covering most I his chest, neck and head. His pelt was white, and housed an array if scars. His wings where tucked neatly to his sides, but the feathers looked worn. His mane was not visible under his helmet, but his tail was a dark navy blue that almost appeared black.

When Twilight looked up into his eyes, she gasped.

He was wearing an eye patch, but it was obvious it was scarred heavily underneath. His unharmed eye, a deep blue, stated down at her.

His entire appearance was scary, but his eye topped it off.

It stared at her, menacingly.

"S-sorry..." She said with a small voice backing away.

He snorted, then kept walking, entering Celestia's throne room.

Twilight got up, and ran.

In the throne room, Celestia looked up from the demonic tales book and sighed.

"Vendetta."

"My princess." He said bowing.

"I have reason to believe the Demon ponies are rising up once more,"

She said walking down off her throne.

Vendetta sucked in a quick breath.

"He is not back? Is he?"

He asked, looking forward into Celestia's eyes.

"Don't be absurd. You and me both saw him going into the ground. You were the one who felt the killing blow. It's not Death Bringer, but," she sent the books to him, laying them on the floor.

"This is proof enough, that they indeed are rising up again."

He read it, then grinned. "It's been so long since I've had a demon pony's blood on my hooves."
