Demons of the Past: Part 1: Chapter 7: The Meeting Of Demon And Princess

We do not own MLP, any OC's, Excluding Pyrojack, are of our own Creating.

Recap: "Nopony said we were going to Canterlot by hoof." The orange unicorn said with a cocky smirk. Pyro already felt drained from his trip here, but getting to Canterlot as soon as possible was important. He took a deep breath, his horn began to glow a deep orange that crackled like a flame. "Just think about how fast I got here." Soon the magic enveloped both of them and they were moved, by magic, to Canterlot. The area that had held the unicorn and the Pegasus was bare, except the black scorch mark on the ground.

The first thing Pyro did when they arrived in Canterlot was faint. He left Slash standing awkwardly a bit, trying to figure out how to deal with the situation. After a bit, though, the orange unicorn came around.

"Never should have used that much magic energy..." He huffed as he got up. "Need to take you to Luna... Then I can sleep..." He breathed out.

Slash walked up next to him, allowing him to use his flank as support.

They were silent for most of the walk, because Slash was deep in thought and Pyro was using all his energy to stay conscious.

The grey Pegasus looked around the castle grounds morosely. He had always wanted to see Canterlot in general, but the circumstances... His hurting Twilight made his experience worse.

"Turn right here..." Pyro panted out, looking worse for the wear.

They navigated the twisting halls of the palace, till they were in front of two blue doors with

"This is Luna's room... Could you knock? I'm not really feeling up to it..." He said with a halfhearted laugh.

Slash nodded, feeling downright nervous about this entire affair.

He raised a hoof, and knocked.

Luna stood hidden in shadow at the back of the throne room. Her sister or the Pegasus known as Vendetta noticed her presence.

"I sensed him yesterday, princess. He has most defiantly arisen. How, I do not know. I swear on the fate of Equestria, however, I will send him back to his damn grave." The tough white Pegasus said angrily, stomping his hoof down.

Celestia sighed. "It must be the work of Immortal Intoxication- it was a mistake to let her escape. One I will not make twice."

"Do you know if Dracola has returned as well? Although less of a threat then Death Bringer, she still is a great adversary."

Celestia shook her head.

"I checked her seal this morning. Still locked up tight as ever. It hadn't weakened a bit. I'm sure Immortal intoxication wants Death to rise up as the true ruler of the Demon ponies, and he can't do that if the true Queen is there." Celestia said as she sat on her throne.

Vendettas grit his teeth in annoyance. He never had patience anymore. "Goddammit! He's just flying around out there! What I would give to give him a new scar to match his old one, and, I don't know, slice his rotten neck into little slices."

"Calm yourself, Vendetta. There will be time for vengeance later, right now we just need to locate where the rebellion of the Demon Ponies are hiding out." The white Alicorn said distastly.

Luna sighed. She hadn't learned a thing from ease dropping on these two. She slipped out quietly.

She was extremely tired. She had hardly ever stayed up quite this late before, except for the rare occasion. And for what? To get some useless information?

Her mane moved majestically behind her as she wandered down the hall and saw a grey Pegasus holding up a nearly unconscious Pyro.

She sped up a bit. "Pyrojack you fool. What did he do?" She addressed the Pegasus who shuffled his wings nervously. He felt the need to bow to her; she was a princess after all.

"He brought me here..." He spoke softly. Pyro smiled. "I brought you Death Slasher, I'm sure he is the one. Almost went nuts- hurt a few mares..."

Slash looked down ashamedly.

"Come inside, you must be tired from holding up my oaf of an apprentice." She said jokingly. "And I told you, Pyro to not use that long distance teleportation spell twice in one day, which I'm assuming you did."

Pyro looked down. "Sorry M'lady."

The princess gave him a warm smile and ushered them inside her room. The hallways were no place to discuss matters like these.

When they got inside, Pyro collapsed on a bed and fell asleep immediately. He would not be eking anytime soon.

Luna gave a small smile, and using her magic she brought a blanket over and put on the orange unicorn.

"He should have just brought you by train," she said. "But it is no matter, your here now. Please have a seat.

Slash sat, but was very nervous. It must have been a great honor to meet a princess like this.

"So, Death Bringer, w-"

"It's Death Slasher..." Slash cut her off, then immediately regretted it. He didn't want to disrespect her.

"Slasher? I thought your last name was Bringer..."

Slash looked down. "Well, I don't know what you know, princess, but whatever it is, I don't know it... I have no memory from before seven years ago. Even the beginning if that time I'd fuzzy for me..." Slash admitted, inadvertently shuffling his wings nervously.

Luna sighed. "From what I gathered, before these seven years you remember, you were dead... Or something. Killed by my sister and a Pegasus named Vendetta." She began. The name Vendetta brought over Slash, a feeling of mocking laughter, and hate.

"You were the worst... Put down for good reason... I wasn't around at this time... For, reasons."

Luna didn't know if Slash knew if her time spent exiled, but she wasn't feeling quite up to sharing.

"I heard Tia and Vendetta talking, saying an 'immortal Intoxication' brought you back to lead them... But I do 'to know how true this is." She said.

Slash looked down. "I know for a fact I kind of lost it yesterday... I think I hurt someone close to me..." Slash said sorrowfully.

Luna brought over a tray with tea on it.

"Here, have some..." She offered, hoping it would cheer up the depressed Pegasus.

Slash took a cup, sipping the sweat, minty tea.

"Very nice..."

They sat in silence for a bit, but it was broken when the blue Alicorn cleared her throat.

Slash set his cup down. "So why did you want to see me... I really don't trust myself for anything... Being near you... Or Twilight..." He said the last part very quietly, his voice on the verge of cracking.

"My sisters are planning on killing you and your race. I know it's selfish of me to say this... But I want to protect them... They are beings of the night... Ponies who feel the moonlight as if it were my sister's sun." She took a breath. "I may be signing my death warrant... But I want you to stay close to me so we can monitor this situation... So one day, maybe we can..." She paused. "I sound silly, saying that maybe... Just maybe, I could help reform a race that is known for bloodshed and darkness... I might have gone crazy."

Slash wanted to comfort her, but his chest began to ache. He moaned; bring a hoof up to his temple.

The voice, usually taunting, was a bit, if just a bit, softer.

Tell her the darkness will fall no matter what. Tell her the days of unity are soon to end, no matter what shall happen. Also, tell her I will bathe in the blood of those it brings... It laughed.

The grey Stallion felt the pain leave, and looked into the worried eyes of the princess.

"It was... Him..." Slash said, panting. "He said darkness will... Fall no matter what... That the days of unity will end no matter what..." He didn't know why he was doing what the dark voice was telling, but he felt it was for the best. He however left off the last part, he was sure it would unnerve to Alicorn.

Luna looked troubled. "Please... Join my guard... That way you'll get some battle training, and you can be close to me. I fear the words I assume come from Death Bringer are very true... We are on the brink of war, and I want your help."

Slash stood. "I will. I will join your guard and protect you no matter what, because Princess, I know for a fact now that when I needed you most, your moon brought light into my vision. You have protected me."

Luna gave a small smile and very gently touched her muzzle to his on the side. "You have my blessings in your training. It will be tough, and many back down, though I'm sure you won't."

Slash gave a smile.

"You need to keep our personal relationship a secret, if any on the guard, save for Pyro finds out I recruited you personally they could get suspicious, it's important we keep your past a secret. To them, Death Bringer never existed."

"I wish to me he never existed..." Slash mumbled.

Luna cleared her throat, not really amused, but sympathetic.

"Keep it a secret," she said stiffly.

Slash nodded.

"Also, try to keep some chest armor on... To hide the scar... If Vendetta or Tia find out about you, the kingdom is as good as done for."

The grey Pegasus bowed. "Of course." He said.

"Good. I'll have a guard take you to the training barracks where tomorrow you'll begin your training. Usually, you would have to pass a test to get in, but I'll let that pass."

Luna summoned a guard, who was prepared to lead Slash out.

"Good luck, Death Slasher."

The dare devil bowed to her once more then followed the guard out. Luna looked out at her sister's sun and sighed. She really hoped she was doing the right thing. Slowly, she made her way to her bed and fell asleep.

Twilight had woken up under the watchful eye of Fluttershy. Though the pale yellow mare was asleep.

The unicorn sat up and looked out the window. She didn't know why she was crying, but the tears flowed.

Remembering little, she tried to shake off the feeling that is was Slash that attacked her. All she could see was that scar she had become so accustomed too, and the feeling of no air being allowed to enter her lunges.

Between sobs, she vowed to get an answer from the Pegasus, and a lengthy one at that. She wished it was all just a dream. Deep down, however, she knew it wasn't.
