A/N: Hey guys. So, chapters have not been coming as quickly as planned, but I'm working on it. Hopefully I'll get this one and my shapeshifter chapter out before I go on vacation, but we'll see.
Updates on my vampires/story (kinda a spoiler ish):
The vampires more animal-like and eyes glow instead of turning black
Alice doesn't automatically get visions (cept for that first time), but she likes to surf through the future
No Quiletes, but there are wolves. And they don't mess with Alice's visions
Chapter Two
Bella
I was slowly aware of trees moving past me. Or was it me moving. I stopped running and examined my surroundings.
Sunshine filtered through leaves and warmed my skin. Skin. I tenderly moved both of my arms in front of my face. No fur. No claws. I stretched my sore muscles, curling my toes into the dirt and soil beneath me. I slowly inhaled, noting the smells of the forest.
What was that? Breathing in again, I detected a slight tinge of raspberries in the air. My eyes widened in shock. It happened again.
Slowly smiling, I walked forward, uncaring of my nudeness, enjoying the peace that surrounded me.
All of a sudden, I hit a wall of stench, masking all other smells. I desperately tried to backpedal, to find the smell of raspberries and warmth again, but was too late.
I registered the musky odor of dog and man as I fell, before I was consumed again.
Alice
I sighed, falling dramatically onto my bed. I was not having a very good week.
The first day of school went terribly. After Jasper nearly bit off some boy's hand for trying to touch Nash, no one bothered them. But even after a week of brushing them off, the bastards all thought that they somehow had a chance at getting me. Then, on top of that, we had to deal with some stupid mutts.

I was out hunting alone. All the hormonal boys were getting to me.
I ran my hand along the hanging foliage that surrounded the path I hunted on as I ran. Shaking off all thought, I closed my eyes and focused on the smells and flavors in the air around me. Ignoring the scent of the trees and earth, I dissected all of the animal trails around me. There was rabbit, squirrels, some deer, and a deep predatory scent, surrounded by the smell of almost human blood, distinctly powder sugar flavored. I frowned. Some hiker had probably been attacked by the predator. The thought saddened me more than I thought it would.
Wanting to make sure an injured hiker wasn't stranded in the middle of nowhere, I followed after the bear like scent, considering whether I should track it down instead of those deer from earlier, when all of a sudden, I heard a low growl erupt from several yards in front of me, behind the brush.
I crouched down, expecting the bear to come lumbering out, but imagine my surprise when instead of a medium sized bear, I get a horse sized wolf slinking out to stand in front of me.
I growled as it approached, crouching further and baring my fangs while I shifted forward on all fours, preparing to spring. The thing growled louder at my display, glaring viciously at me. I met its yellowy eyes with my glowing topaz ones, and hissed when I saw the intelligence there. It must be some sort of werewolf.
However, as soon as it saw my eyes, it stopped growling and tilted its head, calming the vampire inside of me.
I straightened up and reined in my hissing, closing my mouth, but my growling still rumbled quietly in my chest. After a couple minutes of just standing there, glaring at it, I got fed up.
"What do you want, werewolf?" I sneered.
It looked at me for a second more before turning around and disappearing back behind the brush. After a moment, I heard some rustling and felt a shiver run down my spine.
The man that stepped in front of me was big. He looked to be around twenty, with the muscles of a body builder. He was about 6'2" with lightly tanned skin and short, dirty blonde hair. He was wearing only a pair of loose fitting track shorts that slung low on his hips.
While I had been examining him, he looked me over from head to toe, stopping at places that made me bare my teeth and hiss, glaring at his smirk. Filthy mutt.
He shook his head and glanced at my eyes again.
"Why are your eyes gold?" he asked.
I looked at him suspiciously before replying.
"They're this color because I only drink the blood of animals."
He looked surprised at my answer.
"I didn't know that was possible," he murmured looking down. "I guess I can't attack you then, although if I find out you hurt anyone, you're dead, leech."
I scoffed. "Like you could hurt me. You would be dead before you tried. Although, there are two more with me, both who also drink animal blood. You stay away from us, and I can guarantee we'll stay away from you and any of your pack if you have one."
He thought for a moment. "It's a deal."
He held out his hand before dropping it, shaking his head and laughing.
I watched him disappear behind the trees, before finally turning around to return home and report my finds to Jasper and Nash, all thoughts of the strange bear and human forgotten

After I told Jasper and Nash what happened, they almost went down to the mutt's territory just to teach him a lesson, but in the end I got them to let it go. No need to spare any more effort on them than necessary. Especially with everything else going on in our lives at the moment. Apparently the hiker I smelled wasn't the only human that was being worried about. Several kids at school and whole families even had been found slaughtered in their homes.
I sighed remember the visions I had had. I wasn't able to see any of the attacks, but I did see the discoveries and they were gruesome. Whatever it was that attacked them didn't pick them on purpose, otherwise I would've been able to see it, but there was just so much violence. All of the bodies were mauled beyond repair, ripped to pieces with their blood painting the walls. Long claw marks were gouged into every part of the houses.
We had a coven meeting to discuss the attacks, and all we could come up with was that the Monster was in the area. The strange bear-like sense only helped the idea.
I rolled over onto my side, staring out of the window at the forest that surrounded our little piece of paradise. Which I guess isn't so paradisey anymore. In the last decade or so, the government has been putting up more of an effort to track and exterminate the monster. Although they completely ignore the prophecy, I have to admit that they're trying to put up a good fight. They've developed millions of weapons and defenses, and the Monster has destroyed or been virtually immune to each and every one.
I heard movement from downstairs. Jasper and Nash must be back from town. They went to shop and pick up the mail. Mostly for appearances.
"Alice!" I heard Jasper yell.
Sighing, I got up. "I'm coming!"
I walked over to my door, opened it, and zoomed downstairs. I found Jasper and Nash staring fearfully at a letter in the pile in Jasper's arms.
I shook my head. "What's with the letter? It's not gonna bite-"
I froze as I saw the logo inked onto the envelope. It was the Volturi crest. I'm not at all surprised that they are aware of our move, but it's what in the package that frightens all of us.
Not only is the US government attempting to rid the world of the monster, but so is the vampire government, the Volturi. In our travels, our coven has heard rumors that the Volturi was ordering vampires living near suspected Monster attacks to find it and attempt to stop it. Unlike the pathetic human government, the Volturi hadn't forgotten the prophecy, but they believed only a vampire would be able to stop it.
I slowly took the letter from Jasper's hands, opening it, and started to read it aloud.
'Dear Whitlocks and Brandon,
How was your move? How nice of you, convenient of you to move right where the Monster now is. By the power of the three kings, you have been drafted to locate and control the Monster. If you fail to do so, you will be executed. If you succeed, you are to bring it immediately to Volterra, where whichever one of you managed to tame it will be honorably accepted into the guard. I hope to see you soon.
-Aro'
I looked up and saw Nash slowly change forms, both her and Jasper's eyes glowing a dull red.
"It'll be okay guys," I managed to say. "I mean, between the three of us, how could we fail, right?"
Jasper gave me a sad smile for the effort. Sighing, he switched to his fighting persona.
"We'll go to one more week of school, and then begin the search that weekend. That'll give us enough time for preparation."
After he spoke, I ran up to my room. Slamming the door behind me, I collapsed onto my bed, curling up into the covers. It seems I'm fated to die. Never to meet my mate, never to learn of love, nevermore to live. We were going to be mauled by some monstrous beast with the smell of a predatory bear. All I could wish for was the chance to somehow escape this nightmare that had befallen me.
A/N: Yay, finally finished with another chapter. I'm so sorry I didn't get it done before vacation! I meant to email it to myself, but forgot to… Anyway, let me know what you think. Oh, and think of the book society like this. The world has been subjected to the Monster for hundreds of years. It has advanced very far weapon wise. And there were no major wars because of the worlds combined effort to defeat the Monster. So that means Nash and Jasper weren't changed to fight the vampire wars… I'm just gonna let you guys think on that. Until next time!
