CHAPTER 13: OLD SECRETS AND NEW ONES
"YOU DISAPPEARED NIKKY!" I hear as walk up to Logan's study door.
"Jade" I jump, my heart beating rapidly. I turn around slowly. Hannah.
"oh Hannah, is something wrong?" she nods no smiling.
"they are asking for ice cream"
"they can have ice cream Hannah, you may leave now" I didn't even hear the door open or even feel Logan step behind me.
"yes, my lord" she runs and when I say run, I mean vamp speed disappear.
"do you scare everyone in your household" I walk past him, into his study where I find Nikky sitting the black couch, her cheeks are red and have red marks of wiped tears on them.
"sit there" Logan points at a black couch near the fire place and far away from Nikky.
I sit there in silence, listening to them go on and on and on about why Nikky disappeared and why she came back with Logan's parents and Grandfather. Apparently she was feeling, how can I put this?, angry and unloved because I was moving in and because Logan and I have history?. I mean Come on!, she is married to the fuck for crying out loud and all she can think about is me stealing him? I, Jade Winters, am no man stealer.
"I want Amber back in her own room Logan" I look up with a frown, first at Nikky then at Logan.
"that's for Amber to choose" Logan looks at me, as if asking if I agree, so I nod yes.
"NO! Logan, she can't stay with that…" I hear Logan growl, a low menacing growl.
"Don't you dare Nikky, just don't" I don't think I want to be here.
"Jade, do you have a problem with Amber staying with you, and her remaining under your care" Logan looks at me, for a second I think I see something…emotion but it disappears.
"no of course not, but only if that is okay with her and Adian and of course you and Nikky" I hear snort escape from Nikky.
"it is fine with us" he gets up and walks towards a small table, pours himself some blood and then hands it to Nikky.
"Clam down and stop thinking about that shit" I just wish could see what they or he was talking about.
Suddenly there's a knock on the door, and Hannah comes in with Amber. I stand up and frown at Logan, but he just stares at me blankly, Hannah holds Amber's hand tight but she is not hurting her.
"Logan, it's past midnight, we can do this tomorrow" I walk towards Amber but someone grabs my arm, and pulls me to them , I turn my head slightly towards Logan, he nods no.
"Amber dear, do you want to stay with Adian or alone?" Amber looks at her mom for a few minutes.
"Adian"
When I told Wes what happened he just couldn't believe it to a point where he was speechless, but after some time he just kept asking why Nikky hated me so much. To tell the truth, I wish I knew, I have an idea why. After work, as I was walking to the car, my eyesight became blurry and I just couldn't breath, my body started shaking and I saw it for the first time in almost 2 months, I had a vision. Of course it looked like I was having an attack to the other people around but all I remember was Brendon picking me up and Wes shouting my name while everyone else watched with shocked.
My visions never cause such a violent effect on my body, that was the first. Most of time, they are dreams of they just come and go, like a thought but yesterday, I could feel that that was not normal. I woke up to find Amber and Adian staring at me, so I smiled and when I did, they ran out and called Hannah who then called Logan. He just stood in the doorway, he walked slowly towards me but stopped half way and asked Hannah to call Wes, Jessica and Danny, and tell them that I have woken up, and he just walked out.
I knew something was off about Logan's grandfather the moment I heard about him and the moment I saw him of course. There's a knock on my door and Logan walks in, looking at the floor. He sits at the foot of my bed.
"still like the same colours" I nod yes.
"somethings about you never change" he gives me little smile. We sit quite for a few minutes.
"what did you see?" I look at my hands.
"I don't really know"he gets up and moves closer to me.
"you do know. What did you see Jade?" he whispers, taking my hand in his.
"your Grandfather is crazy, he looked so crazy. He was leaning over me, fangs out, moving closer towards my neck. He says " I will have my throne back", and bites me. I scream in pain, and fight him, but I'm too weak. I see you on the floor a few feet away from me, with a...you are just laying there lifeless, and Nikky is holding my son by the neck while he screams for me and Amber lays on the floor with a piece of wood coming out of her chest like your parents. When he pulls away from my neck, he appears next to Nikky and…Kisses her, my eyesight starts becoming blurry. When he pulls away from her, he says "he will forget about them, in time my queen, in time". He kills us, your Grandfather kills us" Logan stands and looks at me like I'm lying, he starts pacing the room.
"Logan?" he stops.
" how sure are you?" I frown at him.
"you think I'm lying, exactly what I was expecting for you" I roll my eyes, and get out of the bed.
"what you were expecting?" I turn around and face him.
"yes. Did you tell Mickey about me?" he nods no, I groan with irritation.
"thank you, just thank you!" I pick up my iPhone and dial Mickey's number.
"why are you angry?" he grabs my hand and turns me around to face him. he pulls me closer to him, takes my iPhone out of my hand and ends the call.
"why are you so angry?" our bodies touch.
" You. You always ruin my life even more every time you show up!. You and your friends killed one of my best friends, I cried and got over that. You threatened me, and drove me to the edge of insanity. I knew what I saw was true and that you were what you are, but no one believed except my grandmother. Than too many killings where happening in White Wood and my family decided to move because everytime I saw you or heard your name I would start shaking and I wouldn't be able to breath!" I push him away, and he moves. I walk around to the other side of the bed creating distance between us.
"and then you just had to kidnap me, after you made me look crazy for months. I was living my life, a law student, with friends and just…I was free from you. But because of you I have Adian and I am the happiest I have ever been" I laugh at how crazy I sound and how crazy I'm acting.
I sit on the bed, and he sits next to me.
"I'm happy, you are happy. I always looked at you and felt, I had to make you mine. I still do. but with all the enemies I have I can't….. I am sorry" he stands and after a few seconds I hear the door close, I look at the time, 22:48.
I open the door, and watch them. Sound asleep thank goodness, I used to hear my parents argue about my state of mind, my mom would say there was nothing wrong with me and my father would ask how she knows, and she would say ask your mother Josh. i see something move in the shadows, at first I think I really am crazy but as I look closer I can actually see someone standing there. He steps forward, walking towards with his fangs out.
"oh please, put them away you don't scare and I already know who you are" I roll my eyes and open the door to my bedroom wider, he walks past me, brown hair and green eyes.
"you remember me after so long" I nod yes.
"well then, Nikky does undermine you" he smiles and I smile back.
"Amber" I look at him.
"what about Amber?" I smile at his shock.
"mind reading?" I shrug.
"no not really, I don't do such. Now why where you in my son and Logan's daughter's room?" he laughs.
"Logan's daughter…you don't know what you are dealing with Jade" I sit on the couch near my fire place.
"then what am I dealing with?" he sits on the chair opposite mine.
"I'm Jordan Porter…and I'm Amber's father" I am speechless.
"Speechless?" I nod yes.
"they think I'm died, I wanted, I still want to tell Logan about Amber but Nikky and Logan's Grandfather are up to something, and you and the kids are not safe here. They tried to kill me but I escaped with just a few injuries. I do know one thing, Nikky is crazy and Mr. McShane is just as crazy. He wants his throne back from Logan, because he was made to step down by Logan's father…you should ask him about it. That man is one of the craziest vamps known ever" I sit there shocked.
"I know I was shocked too when found them…together" I laugh out of shock.
"I know. I need to leave now, Logan's coming up the stairs to check on you" he gets up and walks towards the window.
"wait. I promise, I will look after Amber with my life, and when the time is right you come get her" he nods.
"just be safe. I will come around next week" he jumps out the window and I go into the bed.
The door opens.
Logan's POV
I open the door, she's a sleep. If only she knew.
