November passed relatively quickly for everyone at Hogwarts. December had arrived and the holidays were upon them. It was Saturday and Hermione had gotten up early that morning to take a run before breakfast; even though it was a little cold. She had taken up this habit quite recently. She liked the idea of being up before everyone else so she could have a little alone time. She usually packed a book, went for a run, and rested out by a tree and read out of her book for a few minutes before she went in to eat. This morning in particular was very nice, in her opinion.
She had just sat down by the tree and pulled out her copy of Hogwarts: A History (Which she had read a hundred times over). She was flipping through the pages when something had fallen out. It was a small crumpled piece of parchment that had been slid between the pages. Hermione looked at it questioningly, but opened it anyway. It read:
Well,
If you're reading this, I expect you've found my little note. I'm actually writing this during the summer. You and Ginny are out in the garden with Mum, and since we'll both be really busy this year, I figured I'd leave you a little something seeing as how I might not get to write as often as we'd both like. I knew it would be good to hide the note in this book, because it's your favorite. I hope your classes go well for you. I'm certain they will. I'm so proud of you for going back to school, even if it is a bit strange. Although we're still together right now, I know that I'll miss you more than ever when you leave. I know I'm really not the best at showing my feelings, but I just want you to know how much you mean to me. Honestly, you're amazing and I love you so much. They say when you find the perfect one; they make you want to be better. You do make me want to do better; to strive to be the best Ron I can be. You also bring out the best side of me and I can't thank you enough. Everything about you is perfect to me. Blimey, Hermione Granger. You've caused me to write a whole letter, and I didn't even mind! Haha. In all seriousness, I hope when you find this note, you get even a glimpse of how much I love you. I had better go now. Enjoy your day!
Love always,
Ron xx
Hermione was beside herself. The happiness she felt was unbelievable. She couldn't believe that Ron took his time so long ago to write her a note. Blimey, she missed him. A small tear slid down her cheek, but it was certainly a happy tear. After a few minutes, she gathered up all of her things and hurried back to the castle.

That morning at breakfast, Ginny noticed that something was off. Dean and Seamus were unusually quiet, Neville was sitting with the Hufflepuffs, and Hermione hadn't even showed up yet. Something was up. She turned her attention to Seamus and Dean.
"Oi!" They looked up at her quickly, coming out of a deep conversation. "Have either of you seen Hermione?"
They both shook their heads. "Haven't seen her. She's probably already eaten." Dean suggested.
Nevertheless, she went to go and find her. Ginny checked the library first, but Hermione wasn't there. Next was the common room. Hermione wasn't there either.
"Surely she's not still in bed." She climbed the stairs to Hermione's suite and opened the door. She walked in and saw Hermione laying on her bed.
"Hermione…what are you doing still in bed? Breakfast is nearly over. We're supposed to go to Hogsmeade today, remember?"
Hermione looked at her, still not getting up from bed. "Yes…I know. I've actually been up for a while. I just needed some rest is all." Hermione unknowingly glanced over at a small cauldron that was brewing on her bedside table. Ginny approached it suspiciously.
"Um…and what may I ask…*sniff*…is…*sniff*…blimey." Ginny's eyes widened slightly in wonder. "What is this, Hermione?"
"What do you smell, Ginny?" Hermione smirked.
Ginny continued to take it in. "Well…if I'm not mad I smell…Broomsticks and…Mum's famous homemade bread and….and…" she stopped, her cheeks turning a faint pink.
"Go on…" Hermione said with a smile, sitting up.
"And Harry's cologne. Wait a minute…that's amortentia! Hermione what are you thinking brewing that!? What are you up to?"
"Oh, relax." She laughed quietly. "I'm not going to use it on anyone. I just enjoy the smell…and apparently so do you."
Ginny threw a pillow at her and sat down. "Sod off. Why the sudden need for such scents?"
Hermione reached under her pillow and handed Ginny the note that Ron had written her.
"Whoa…" Ginny said after finishing it. "It's definitely true. I've never seen my brother write such a letter haha. I know you miss him.
"I really do, Ginny. But you know me. I like to over analyze things and now I'm worried."
"Whatever for?"
"Well, this note was written about five or six months ago now. Plus, we haven't seen each other in so long."
"Your point?"
"My point being…what if…I don't know…what if after all we've been through, one day he just decides he doesn't want me anymore? I mean, after I get done with school and go into my career, and he gets done with his training and becomes an Auror…what if we get too busy or something and just grow apart?"
Ginny giggled slightly. "Blimey we're such girls. I swear, we could be sisters. Don't fret Hermione…I've had the same worries. If I know my brother, and I do, nothing will tear you two apart. I just know it. There's something special about you all. The way you look at each other; it just let's everyone know that the love you share couldn't be more real. Even if you all did hate one another at first." They both laughed at these words. "Just relax. I think you're getting anxious is all. Now come on," She stood up and pulled Hermione up. "Let's go get some food before it's all gone."

After they had returned from Hogsmeade that night, Ginny, Hermione, Dean, Seamus, and Luna all sat around the fireplace in the Gryffindor common room. They were just having small conversation when Neville and Hannah stumbled through the portrait hole. They all looked back at them.
"Oh…hi guys. We were just getting back in." He smiled.
"Won't you come join us?" Luna asked.
The two of them approached the group slowly. "Actually…" Hannah started.
"We have something we need to tell you all." Neville added. "Hannah and I…um…well we're a couple now."
Everyone's face morphed into a huge grin as they got up and started to hug their friends.
"I knew it!" Ginny squealed.
"This is lovely!" Luna added with grin.
"We all guessed it!" Hermione told Neville, Laughing. Hannah found their excitement amusing.
"I told him you all probably already knew." She told the girls.
"Alright, let them breathe, guys haha. Shall we get back to our lounging about?" Ginny asked, motioning for them all to sit back down.
During all of the commotion, Dean and Seamus couldn't help but keep glancing at each other. They could've been telepathic. Dean motioned his eyes to Seamus, and he reluctantly nodded his head. With this, Dean stood up nervously and cleared his throat.
"Everyone… I have something to say." He couldn't look them in the eyes just yet.
They all looked worried. Neville spoke.
"What is it, Dean? You can tell us."
"I just…don't know how any of you will react. It may cause you to not be friends with me anymore. But, I consider you all to be my closest friends so it's not fair to keep it from you any longer."
"Go ahead, Dean." Luna told him, sounding supportive.
"Okay…the thing is…well…what I'm trying to say,"
Seamus stood up and walked over next to Dean. "What he's trying to say is... We're together. Dean and I…we're a couple. We fancy each other." Both the boys' faces turned red, awaiting reaction. After moments of silence, they looked up at their friends who all had smiles on their faces.
"Well, it's about time." Ginny said with a grin.
Dean and Seamus looked flabbergasted. "What?" "Come again?"
"Guys…we all already knew. Or at least expected." Neville told them.
Dean and Seamus looked at all of their friends.
"Wait but…how long?" Seamus asked.
"Well, just this year…about since term started. But you all have always been so close. Ever since first year." Hermione said.
"I could sense it." Luna told them with a smile. "Just the way you both looked at each other would be enough to know how much love is within you. I guess it was important for you two to figure it out on your own."
Dean and Seamus couldn't help but grin.
"Alright now, get in here everyone. Group hug!" Neville motioned them all in. The love the group of friends shared was marvelous. As everyone let go, Neville said one last thing. "In all seriousness guys, we're really proud of you. What you did…it's not easy. Just know that this changes nothing, and we're still going to be here for you both through everything."
