"Are you sure you don't want to take him to a vet?" Tara asked as she changed out Harley's bandages. I sighed and shook my head as Happy slept behind me on the couch. He had one arm under his head and one arm around our daughter. Freya was lying against his chest, sleeping peacefully.
"I wish we could but they would jump to conclusions and think we were either fighting him or just straight abusing him." I said with a frown. Tara nodded slowly, realizing I was right about the conclusions the vet would jump to.
Harley had pulled through the night and seemed to be improving slowly. The bleeding from his various cuts had finally slowed down, so now we only had the two bullet wounds to contend with. He tried to act like everything was fine, but he couldn't even stand up by himself.
Wolfgang was hanging around and watching Harley carefully. He would pop his front paws up on the couch and sniff him every so often. Tara patted the younger puppy on the head before giving me a reassuring smile and heading back towards Jax's dorm. I took a deep breath and stroked Harley's soft ears.
"Can't sleep?" Lauren's voice was soft as she walked over to me. I shook my head and stood up slowly to avoid disturbing Happy or Freya. Lauren had some serious bruising on one of her cheeks and she looked tired.
"How'd you guess? You need to rest, doll." She nodded and looked over at Happy and Freya snoozing away. I smiled and pulled her into a gentle hug. She buried her face in my shoulder and I could feel her silent sobs.
"I thought I'd never see you all again. All I could think about was Ryder growing up without me." She was soaking my shoulder with her tears as Harley tried to raise his head up and check on us. I scratched him right above his tail before leading Lauren further away from the healing dog and my sleeping family.
"You're home now, Lauren. They're going to make sure nothing like this ever happens again. You, Ryder and Chibs are going to be fine. I promise." I knew Happy would disapprove of my promise, considering it wasn't something I could guarantee, but Lauren needed something to hold on to. She wiped her tears away angrily with her palms as she nodded her head.
"Okay, Katerina. Okay." She sounded like she was still trying to convince her self, but I nodded anyways. I walked behind the bar and grabbed a bottle of whiskey and two glasses before heading over to one of the high top tables. She laughed a little and followed me to drown our sorrows at four o'clock in the morning.
"Wake up, Kat." It was Happy's raspy voice to wake me up from his bed I didn't remember going to. Freya was waving her hands and giggling as I rolled over and groaned. I yawned and smiled up at them.
"I love you, Happy." I said as I laced my fingers in between his. He smirked and bent down to kiss my forehead. I brought my lips up to catch his quickly. He growled and deepened the kiss as Freya slapped her hands on the snake tattoo on his scalp.
"Your daughter is a cock blocker." Happy said as he looked over at her smiling face. He couldn't keep a straight face and I caught his mouth curving into a smirk. I climbed out of bed and reached out to take her. He kissed her cheeks and forehead before passing her over to me.
"Where are you headed?" I asked as he checked to make sure both of his magazines were fully loaded. He kissed me quickly and shook his head.
"Nowhere dangerous, Kat. Tig took off and Jax is worried he's doing something stupid and Tigish. I shouldn't be long. We're still on lockdown, so don't leave without me." I nodded and followed him out to the clubhouse. The room was packed out with women and children as we weaved our way over to Harley's couch. Wolfgang was sleeping with his head on Harley's stomach. I smirked as Harley made eye contact with me and huffed.
SOASOASOASOASOASOASOASOASOA SOASOASOASOASOASOASOA
I took Freya out of the car seat as Katerina climbed out of the driver's seat in a knee length black dress and some type of black mesh thing over her face. Her hair was twisted into a tight bun and I couldn't help noticing how beautiful she was. I kissed her briefly as we walked over to the gravesite.
"I'll hold her." Katerina said as we got a little closer. I looked over at Freya's sleepy eyes and nodded as I passed her into Kat's arms. We continued on with my hand on my wife's lower back and my Glock weighing heavy in my shoulder holster.
The past few months didn't even seem real anymore. After we got Lauren back, Tig's daughter was murdered, Jax, Tig, Chibs and Opie got arrested on shit charges and now we were putting Opie in the ground. He sacrificed himself for Jax and the club for the last time and I knew that it was killing Jax.
"Hey, brother." I nodded silently at Tig's welcome as I stopped to stand beside him. Katerina and Freya took the seat directly in front of me and next to Kiara. The younger woman took her older sister's hand and looked over at her with tears streaming down her face. I gave Freya my ring that she was reaching out for and watched her as she tried to put it in her mouth.
The service was short and to the point. I tossed some dirt on the casket that had been lowered into the grave before turning to leave with Katerina and Freya. She leaned into my side as we walked back to the Armada.
"Happy, I don't want to be Lyla. I don't want to have to explain to Freya why you weren't around while she was growing up." Katerina said as I started the suv. I glanced over at her and leaned against the door.
"Kat, I'm not leaving you or Freya." I made eye contact with her and waited until she nodded before starting down the gravel drive. Ever since Opie had died, she had been on edge about something happening to me. To be honest, I knew that things were getting hairy now that the club was up against Pope.
"We're leaving next week, Kat." I told her as I opened the passenger door for her. Her face dropped as she nodded. I couldn't help the smirk as I shook my head. "You forget I promised you a trip this summer?"
"Happy, seriously? We're going now?" She asked incredulously. I nodded and followed her inside the house. Harley bounded up to the door with a tennis ball and a wagging tail.
"Might not have time for a while if we don't go now, Kat." She nodded and gave me a small smile before going to put Freya down. I grabbed a couple of beers out of the refrigerator and headed to the couch as Harley brought the ball back to me. I tossed it down the hall and smirked as he ran and then silently walked to get the ball after getting a stern look from Katerina.
"You're beautiful, woman." I handed her a beer as she took of what she'd told me was a birdcage. I still thought it looked like mesh over her face but I wasn't the fashion expert in the house. She sat down next to me and threw her legs over my lap. I smirked and kissed her knee.
"You don't have to compliment me to get laid, Hap. What time is Chibs coming over?" She asked as she ran her foot over my crotch. I took her beer and put it down on the coffee table. She smirked and moved to straddle me.
"We've got a couple hours." I growled as she teased me with her mouth on my neck. I let my head fall back as her teeth scraped across my skin. She traced her tongue from my Adam's apple to the underside of my chin.
"I like this." She said as she kissed the short hair around my chin and mouth. I smirked and caught her mouth with my lips before pulling on her bottom lip with my teeth. She moaned and pressed her body onto me.
"You're mine, Kat. Don't ever forget that shit." I growled as I slid my hand under her dress. She nodded and spun her tongue in unison with my own. My fingers found her to be more than ready as I worked them inside of her at a steady pace.
"Happy, I need you. Please." She moaned in soft pants. I nodded and pressed her to me as I stood up. Her legs wrapped around me as I headed into the garage. She pulled back and raised an eyebrow at me. I grinned mischievously and closed the door behind me.
"Leave your heels on, Kat." I started undoing my belt as she laughed and unzipped her dress. I watched her as she stepped out of the dress and tossed it onto the hood of her 350z. I motioned for her to give me her underwear and stuffed it in my back pocket like a bandanna.
"You never cease to amaze me, baby." She purred as she stood in front of me, completely naked except for the four inch heels she was in. I smirked and nodded as I gently pushed her towards my bike. The rain was pounding on the metal roof and made for a pretty good excuse to have my bike in the garage.
"I've wanted to do this since I met you." I growled as I guided her hands onto the seat and her ass up towards me. She pulled the tie out of her hair and let it fall over her shoulder as I ran my hand up and down her body.
"Oh, fuck." Her voice was almost a scream as I slammed into her faster and harder. I closed my eyes and savored the way she tightened around me in rapid pulses. The wetter and tighter she got, the harder it was for me to hold back. As soon as she threw her head back and her hair cascaded down her back, I lost it.
"Fuck, Kat. So fucking good." I growled as I spilled into her. She moaned and angled up towards me the way she knew I loved. It extended the pleasure to almost a painful point.
"I thought you said they were coming over in a couple hours, Happy!" Katerina shoved my shoulder as I zipped my jeans. The sound of a bike and a car pulling into our driveway had her fighting mad. I smirked and caught her by her naked waist.
"I lied so you'd let me fuck you." I admitted with a quick bite to her shoulder. She scowled at me and reached out to hit my shoulder. I moved away quickly, amused at the thought of how she'd react when she remembered I had her underwear in my pocket.
"Hey, come in." I said as I opened the door with one hand and shoved her thong down into my pocket where no one could see it. Chibs gave me a quick hug as he walked inside ahead of Lauren and Ryder. I ruffled the little boy's hair as he smiled up at me.
SOASOASOASOASOASOASOASOASOA SOASOASOASOASOASOASOA
"Hey guys." I said as I walked through the kitchen in order to get into our room to change and put some panties on. Lauren gave me a knowing look and smirked as Chibs just nodded without looking at me. I changed into a pair of white shorts and a black halter-top quickly before headed back into the living room.
"You're an ass." I whispered to Happy as I kissed him on the cheek. He nodded with a cocky smile as he continued pulling tattoo equipment out of his toolbox. Harley shoved his head into my hand as I made silly faces at Ryder to make him giggle.
"So, where are you putting it?" I asked Lauren as she put Ryder down onto Freya's play mat. She smiled and shrugged her shoulders.
"He's being secretive about it and said he chooses where it goes." She said with a little laugh as Chibs looked back and nodded. I rolled my eyes and moved past them to get a fresh beer since mine had gotten warm during our rendezvous in the garage.
"Shirt off, woman." Chibs said with a wink. Lauren gave me a quick look and swallowed hard. I laughed and motioned for her to continue.
"Sit backwards in the chair." Happy said as he rolled over on his stool. Lauren swallowed hard as she did as he said. The tattoo shop was out of the question after all the heat the club was getting with Pope, so Happy had resolved to pushing ink in our kitchen or at the clubhouse.
"You're a big baby." I said with a laugh as Lauren winced and hissed at the needles scraping across her skin. The crow was on her left shoulder and Happy was stopping every few seconds when she flinched.
"You keep moving and I'm not gonna have time to finish this." Happy growled as he glanced over at Chibs. I smirked, but kept my mouth shut. Lauren didn't know it but her ol' man was getting Ryder's name added above his daughter's name and Lauren's birthday on his ribs underneath his heart.
It may have taken a kidnapping but Chibs and Lauren were finally back to a good place. He'd gone as far as filing divorce papers the day after Lauren was back in his arms. Fiona had refused to sign them, but the gesture was enough to end the ongoing fight between my best friend and Happy's brother.
