An hour passed and I was stuck, sat at a beautiful computer set up with nothing to do. Melina had buggered off to go create her bug which she informed would take a while since she is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to her work. She'd probably spend the next twenty four hours working on it and trying it out on different systems.
I was already bored. When I signed up for this, I hadn't quite expected to be so bored so early. There was also the fact that I had no idea what to do, Aiden Pearce was god knows where, Raymond had popped out to go pick up a few bits of hardwire he needed and Tobias was singing to himself in the corner while tapping furiously into his keyboard.
I was beginning to believe that a nap was probably my best option when my phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out of my pocket and found a new text from the man I met earlier.
"Not to sound desperate or anything but are you free for lunch or even just for coffee today? I've got one thing on my mind and that thing is you. Jordi."
I smiled sweetly. I mean, I wasn't the type to just meet strangers and become so comfortable around them in the first few minutes of chatting but something about Jordi. I don't know whether it was the fact that he looked much more mature than any person who'd made a move on me before or the fact that he'd only just met me yet spoke like we were old friends. It made it a lot easier for me to text him back.
"I can meet up for a couple of hours if you like. Meet in the Wards Plaza in an hour?"
My phone buzzed almost a second after I'd pressed send.
"Can't wait. See you then. Jordi."
I giggled a little aloud by mistake and instantly- like she had super sonic hearing or something- Melina was staring at me with that look in her eye that suggested I'd be in deep shit if I didn't just come right out and say what was making me happy.
'Do you need anything, Mel?' I asked, standing up from my desk and strolling over to her. 'Drink, food, clothes?'
'I'm a bit chilly.' She mumbled unsure. 'You couldn't be a doll and get one of the jumpers for me, could you?'
'Of course.' I smiled and walked over to the corner of the room where I'd ditched the bag. The happier I made Melina now the less likely she was going to notice my disappearance I plan to make in the next twenty minutes. I grabbed a jumper from the top of the bag and brought it back over to her, staring over her shoulder at the screen as she growled in irritation.
'So, what's the plan, Stan?' I giggled into her ear. 'What's the news, Suze? What's the deal, Beale? What's-'
'Clark. I'm trying to work, come on.' Melina growled, pulling the jumper over her head. 'It's hard enough that Maroon 5 over there is singing out of his nose, I don't need you getting on my nerves too.'
'Sorry, darling.' I giggled. 'Would you like a shot of whiskey to calm your nerves? Or maybe a good old-fashioned tea?'
'Not right now.' She mumbled, her attention returning fully to her screen. 'Maybe in a bit. Did you buy tea bags because they literally have no drinks here.'
'I'll run out and buy some in a tick. I'll leave you to focus.' I walked away without another word and returned to my computer space. I switched on the monitor and had a quick explore of the set up. A hacking system had already been placed on my laptop and a whole paragraph of text kept running across my screen.
I pressed a few buttons and quickly opened up social media and logged in to Facebook. My profile was practically bare, all it had was my name and a couple of picture. I only had about 40 friends simply because I wasn't close to many people and I deleted a lot of people I knew off Facebook a long time ago so that they had no connection to me.
I tapped around for about forty minutes before shutting down the screen and standing up. I tried to be all nonchalant, looking up at the ceiling and holding my hands behind my back as I made my way over to the gym bag of shopping where I'd also left my handbag. I picked it up and slung it over my shoulder before shuffling over to the exit.
Neither Melina nor Tobias mentioned my swift exit as I quickly jogged out and then up the long corridor that lead away and up back to the streets.
I practically sprinted over to my car and jumped in without a second thought and speeded off to the main road and towards the main shopping centre of The Wards. I wasn't a large fan of this area, if I ever went out I mainly stayed in Pawnee simply because it was a "keep yourself to yourself" area and nobody bothered me. If I had to go somewhere outside of that it would be the Loop simply because, if I was going out, I'd go all out. Might as well go to the place where there's literally everything in a two block radius.
I drove until I reached a parking lot, then skidded my little deathtrap as neatly as I could between the lines and jumped out. I bet I looked a right state, no sleep in over twenty four hours, wearing clothes I'd thrown on this morning in a hurry with only a two-latte-coffee buzz keeping my eyes open.
The walk to the plaza only took a few minutes and I chose to sat bang splat in the middle surrounded by the greenness of the plant pots around the complex. I pulled out my phone but there was no text from Jordi, so I just kept it there for a comfort as I waited.
I'd expected to be called by Melina already telling me I was an asshole to leave her when she was working so hard. I was glad she hadn't called though and was even happier when I saw Jordi appear from the distance and head over towards me.
His grey armani suit was gone and now replaced with a black tuxedo that looked like something I'd seen out of a James Bond movie.
'Hi.' Jordi winked when he reached me. 'You look lovely.'
'Not as good as you, Jordi Bond, I didn't know there was going to be a dress code.' I joked as he plucked my hand from my side, brought it up to his lips and kissed it gently. I shivered a little at the unfamiliar sensation but smiled none the less.
'Well, one thing you'll learn about me really quick is that there is no time where a suit shouldn't be worn...' He smirked. 'I especially like to wear Hugo Boss to bed.'
'Oh right, well mark me down as impressed. There's nothing wrong with a sharply dressed man in a suit.' I measured myself up next to him and grimaced. He must have been a whole head and a half taller than me and he seemed to be slouching a fair bit in his suit.
'Follow me, I've picked out the perfect place for us. Have you eaten? I'd gone ahead and presumed you had agreed to lunch so booked us at a restaurant.'
'You booked a table an hour before you wanted to use it? That's cutting it close.' I joked. 'You should give them more time to prepare surely.'
'The owner owes me a few favours and his restaurant is one of my favourites so I couldn't not ask for his help here.' Jordi slowly headed towards the exit of the plaza with me strolling beside him. I was moving fairly slowly beside him so I could only imagine how slow he felt he was walking with those long ass legs of his.
'What does someone have to do to be owed a few favours from a restaurant owner? I think I want in on that line of business.'
'You've gotta be one hell of a fashion guru, which as it happens, I am.' He ran his fingers through his lengthy black hair. 'I mean, if vogue was hiring, they'd be begging for me.'
The two of us made our way down a short road before Jordi stopped me in front of a large restaurant and led me in slowly. The entire place smelt like tomatoes and cheese and I couldn't help but moan a little in pleasure at the deliciousness.
'Where is everyone?' I asked when I saw literally no one inside the place. I peered around at the dozens of empty tables frowning intensely.
'I told you I booked us a restaurant and that's what I did.'
'... You surely don't mean you booked the whole place.' I gawped. '... For a greet we planned literally an hour ago- how did you- I mean, when did you-'
'I have my ways, darling, I just wanted to impress you for our first date is all. I thought that a whole restaurant was the best way to do it. Now let's sit down, I'm starving.'
The place was beautiful, it was lit up all bright with white and gold chandeliers and lamps all across the room. The walls and flooring were red and the tables were all decorated with matching tablecloths.
Jordi led me to a table in the middle and helped me into my chair. Before settling into his own across from me, we each pulled a menu from the middle and scanned through it. Everything was written in Italian, even the descriptions so I was at a lost. All I had were a few cognates like l'hamburger,il caffe, il barbecue, etc.
I was kind of just in the mood for a pizza though, a big cheese one hoarded with different types of meat. I definitely liked italian cured meats like pepperoni. I continued to scan until I did actually see "pizza" written in bold letters. Everything below that was a mystery to me though. God damn to myself, I am the most uncultured swine I know.
'I'm so hungry!' Jordi licked his lips at the menu. 'Everything looks so good, I want it all.'
'Who says you can't buy it all?' I winked. I mean, if he could rent out a whole restaurant an hour before he wanted to use it I'm pretty sure he can knock off most of the price of the food.
'My gym membership.' Jordi smirked up at me. 'No, I'm in the mood for something… Cheesy. Would you think less of me if I wanted a Pizza?'
I laughed. 'It would be wrong to, considering I wanted a Pizza too. My only issue is I don't speak italian.'
'What were you after?'
'Meat Pizza.' I blushed. The restaurant was very hot, I shrugged out of my jacket and fanned myself with the menu for a second.
As if on cue, a waiter appeared from the kitchen and made his way over to us. He looked young, maybe sixteen or seventeen years old with a nose the size of Wales. He didn't smile or greet us in anyway when he reached us, just stood there as Jordi stared up at him, I could see he was hiding a glare to the young man.
'Vorremmo una pizza di formaggio e una pizza di carne.' Jordi suddenly broke out into italian. I had no idea what he was saying other than Pizza but it sounded very italian.
'Ma' va te ne a fanculo.' The young boy spoke back. He wrote something down in a little notebook then made his way back to the kitchen.
'What did he say?' I smiled sweetly.
'He said right away, sir.' Jordi winked. 'I got one with cheese and one with meat just so you know. I love coming to this place, the people are so polite and kind and the food is, oh, to die for.'
'It smells delicious.' I laughed. 'So… Let's get the dice rolling, tell me something about yourself.'
