- This is HQ! We've got the location for you. Ada Wong has left the city and is heading south for the harbor. HQ to all teams, target Ada Wong has been spotted, heading south for the harbor. We want her alive.
After HQ's report we quickly made our way downstairs and exited the building. We were greeted by a bit different view than we were seeing most of the time in China. Instead of narrow streets going between buildings, in front of us was a huge lake, or river, I'm not really sure. In the water there were little Chinese boats. Since there was no other way for us to cross the water, it was obvious that the boats will be our pathway over the water.
- You two wanna follow me around, fine. – Chris spoke up. – Just make sure you stay out of my way.
- As long as you don't cross the line again, that won't be a problem. – Piers retorted. – Ada's just playing with you. When are you gonna realize that?
- I'm not stupid enough to fall for her bullshit.
- That's not the case here, Chris. – I said. – I had to deal with her a few times before; I know what she's capable of. Trust me, she's one sly manipulative bitch, who will do anything to get her way.
- You should have a little more faith in your captain. – Was Chris' answer.
With that we jumped on the first boat and started making our way through the water. At first we could only hear the gunshots but couldn't see where they were coming from. But soon enough, the J'avo with grasshopper legs appeared and our trip through the water became a bit more difficult to say the least. The fact that the boats were rocking back and forth didn't help at all. Not only was it hard to aim, but the whole rocking thing made me sea-sick. Yes, I know, it's just a small boat and I'm not even riding it, but that just the way I am. I'm more of a land person. The only activities including water that I accept is swimming, that's it. None the less, we managed to kill all of them without falling into the water ourselves and could continue on with our quest.
We turned around the corner (if you can call it that way being on the water) I saw the same blue and red material in front of us. Ada was standing on a water motorcycle.
- Ada! – Chris yelled, but then a huge chopper appeared above us, ready to shoot.
- Captain, get a hold of yourself! – Piers told him. – That helo's about to open up fire on us! We're sitting ducks out here! We need to find cover!
As if on cue the chopper started shooting at us and we ran for our lives. While dashing over the boats, the chopper right on our heels, we've encountered J'avos in our way.
- You have got to be kidding me! – I yelled out spotting them
- Don't talk! – Chris yelled back. – Just run!
And so we did. We didn't have time to try and take out the J'avos, so we did our best to run passed them and not get hit by either them or the chopper.
- We need to reach that building! – Chris ordered. I looked up to see a lot of buildings in front of me. I didn't quite understand which building Chris was talking about, so I just ran after him. And a few minutes later we jumped from the boat onto a balcony of a real Chinese style building.
- Alpha to HQ! – Chris reported. – We got a visual on Ada Wong. We're in pursuit!
- This is HQ. Ada Wong has been spotted moving down the canal. Charlie and Delta Teams, form a perimeter around Koocheng.
The good thing was that now we at least had a solid ground under our feet. The bad thing was that the chopper wasn't thinking of leaving us alone.
- All right, we can drop that chopper from here. – Chris said.
And of course, as if the armored chopper wasn't enough of a problem, a swarm of J'avos had made their way into the building. So now we had to drop not only the chopper, but all of the hostiles as well.
- Piers, Minnie! You two take care of the J'avos and leave the chopper to me.
- OK! – I answered.
- Roger! – Piers agreed.
And so Piers and I started killing the J'avos, while Chris tried his best to shoot the chopper down. Luckily it didn't take long and the aircraft went down in flames straight into the building, blowing up a wall in the process.
- Let's go! – Chris ushered us and ran to the opening. – We have to hurry before this whole place blows up!
- Chris and Piers jumped through the destroyed wall onto the boat and I was close behind them. But before I could jump down as well, one of the beams of the building fell down in front of me, making a barrier of flames between me and my escape route.
- Minnie! – Both Chris and Piers yelled out my name, understanding as well as I did that there was no longer any way for me to get out of the building before it explodes.
I closed my eyes and was ready to feel an extremely painful blow and just hoped that the explosion would kill me in an instant and that I wouldn't have to suffer. But before the explosion I felt an arm wrap around my waist and sweep me off the solid ground. I heard the explosion and felt the wind blow in my face, but there was no pain or burning feeling. In fact I felt as if I was flying through the air. I opened my eyes to see a red fabric in front of my face. I looked up and saw the face of a person I really didn't expect to see. Ada Wong.
- How are you holding up, kid? – She threw me a cocky smile.
- Ada? – I couldn't believe my eyes.
- I'll catch you later, sunshine. – She said as swung in front of Chris and Piers. – Here! – She yelled out to them and threw me in their direction. (Yup, I know, this was a scene from Jake/Sherry scenario, but I really liked it, so I used it ^_^)
Piers caught me and put me on the ground, as Chris aimed his gun at the woman in red and started shooting. Of course he didn't her and she flew away with the help of her grapple gun or whatever it was. But what caught my attention were her clothes. Just a few minutes earlier we ran into her when she killed Marco. She was wearing the same blue dress and a red scarf as she did back in Edonia. Now she had a red blouse and black pants on. Not to mention that before she acted as if she had seen me for the first time and tried to kill me like everyone else. And now, not only did she save my life a few moments ago, but she remembered me. She knew who I was.
- Are you OK? – Piers asked concerned.
- Yeah, I'm fine. – I answered still looking in the direction Ada had disappeared.
- Dammit! – Chris cursed, as he walked up to us. – She got away.
- Yeah. – Piers muttered looking as confused as I was. – But I don't understand. A few minutes earlier she tried to kill us and now she's protecting us? What the happened that changed her mind?
No one answered Piers' question, but I saw Chris looking intensely at me. I knew that he was trying to figure out what had just happened. And he knew very well that it had something to do with me. I turned my eyes away from him, so that I wouldn't give anything out. Chris knew my story better than anyone else. I mean, he was the one that got me out of Rockfort Island. He knew that my sister put me there, but he didn't know WHO my sister was. I never talked to anyone about her except my foster parents. Chris had asked me quite a few times about her, but every time I would just tell him that I didn't want to talk about it and he would leave the topic. Hey, it wouldn't really be a surprise that someone wouldn't want to talk about their sister after she ruined their life.
- She wasn't protecting us. – Chris finally spoke up.
- What? – Piers asked looking at Chris puzzled, as did I.
- She wasn't protecting us. – Chris repeated and clarity was visible in his eyes. – She was protecting her. – He motioned at me.
- Captain, what are you…
- Ada's your sister. – Chris cut Piers off, looking intensely at me. I was shocked. He had figured it out. But how? – In Rockfort Island. – He continued as if he had just read my mind. – When Claire and I first met you. The name on your cell door. It was 'Wong'. You're a Wong. You two are sisters.
- What?! – Now Piers was looking at me, shocked.
- Now I remember. – Chris continued. – When your uncle took you in, you changed your last name. You took your mother's maiden and your uncle's last name. Sledge.
- Is this true, Minnie? – Piers asked. The two men were looking at me, both demanding answers. I sighed in defeat.
- Yeah, it's true. – I said quietly.
- Why didn't you tell us earlier? – Chris asked.
- What? – That question made me a bit angry.
- When we first encountered her in Edonia. – Piers said. – Why didn't you tell us that she was your sister then?
- You know, Piers. – I started. – We're not on the best of terms with her. And I really wouldn't want to talk about a person who left me to be a lab rat. The only thing that we have in common is our blood relation. I never looked at her as my sister because sisters don't leave one another in places like Rockfort Island. I hate her with everything I've got and trust me, I want to kill her more than anyone else in the world, because it's personal for me. And if what you found out just now changes anything, then I'm afraid our paths will have to part right here. – I felt a hand smack me gently on the back of my head. I turned my head to see Chris' annoyed face.
- Shut up, you idiot. – He said. – No one said anything about us changing our minds about you.
- Exactly. – Piers added. – It would have been nice to know that we are after your sister, but I'm sure you had your reasons not to tell us.
- Let's get at least one thing straight, Nivans. That woman is not my sister. – I just received a chuckle from Piers to this.
- You're still ready to bring Ada to HQ? – Chris asked me.
- You bet I am.
- Then let's move.
- Copy that. – Piers said.
