So next chapter up! Hope you like it this is the chapter that took me so long to wright, we probably all know how Yusuke's fight goes so I didn't dwell to much on what happens in the actual fight.

Chapter 24 Yusuke's Fight

Sesshomaru and Rin sat together on the sofa watching the fights of demons they had little interest in. Yusuke's fight with Yomi was about to begin and the commentators were spending a lot of time talking about the two fighters; comparing their accomplishments and techniques. Yomi, of course, had much more to be talked about since he was centuries old but Yusuke could not be forgotten in spite of his age and limited experience.

The knock on the door caught Rin's attention and she called for who ever it was to come in.

"Lord Sesshomaru, Lady Rin." Hokushin bowed to them and two others followed him in and bowed. It really was funny how they all looked so alike with the bald heads and identical outfits. Hokushin continued as he straitened, "We brought food for every one from the West."

Rin stood smiling and took the cloth rapped bundle offered to her, "Thank you, Hokushin." she said and nodded to the other two. Taking the bundle to the table behind the sofa next to the window she started opening it setting out the three stacked trays for her and Sesshomaru to eat from, as well as the two half trays of rice for each of them. Hokushin was speaking to Sesshomaru behind her and she listened as she worked.

"Lord Sesshomaru what do you think Yusuke's chances are for this fight with Lord Yomi?" Hokushin asked.

"It depends on his mental state. The boy is strong; stronger then he knows but if he can't tap into that power it does him no good."

"Has he been able to use his human spirit energy?" Rin asked.

Hokushin shook his head. "He has been trying but I don't think so."

"Hmm," Rin sighed.

Sesshomaru stood and motioned a dismissal to the western guards as he walked over and took a seat at the table.

The three bald demons bowed and left the room.

Sesshomaru walked back to the sofa when Yusuke's fight was announced. Rin prepared the tea and handing her mate his cup settled next to him as Yusuke and Yomi approached each other and waited for the fight to begin.

Yusuke powered up and tried to over whelm Yomi who stood his ground and pushed back with his own energy. But it was quickly proven that Yomi was stronger almost pushing Yusuke over the edge of the platform and out of bounds before pulling back and letting Yusuke punch him in the face.

"Well that was unexpected." Rin said.

"Hn."

As the fight truly began Yomi quickly took the upper hand.

Sesshomaru felt Rin tense in worry as they watched Yusuke not just take blows but clearly not fight back at all.

"Yusuke…" she whispered, "why isn't he fighting?"

"A man needs a reason to fight, Yusuke has lost sight of his reason." Sesshomaru said tightening his arm around his mate's shoulders. "This is as good a time as any for him to be reminded of it."

"In the middle of a death match?" Rin was starting to get exasperated at his calm.

"That is when the reason is needed most."

Yusuke didn't react to any of the physical or spiritual blows Yomi was raining on him. Then suddenly Yusuke's expression changed as something seemed to occur to him, and he finally struck back at Yomi landing another punch to the face.

"His demon blood has taken over, but he's still in control of himself. I thought half demons lost control?" Rin asked looking to her mate.

"Most half demons need something to help keep their demon blood at bay, like InuYasha's sword, but Yusuke is an atavism. He is a human that has taken on characteristics of his demon ancestors. And there is also the aid of his training that gives him grater control over his energies." Sesshomaru explained.

As the fight continued Yomi brought up a barrier protecting himself from all of Yusuke's demon energy attacks.

"Foolish boy energy attacks are useless at this point." Sesshomaru scoffed.

Rin smiled, "I don't know it might just be clever."

"In what way?"

"Yusuke has not been able to use his considerable spirit energy for over a year; but if he can expend all of his demon energy his body might default back to his human spirit energy out of reflex." As Rin spoke Yusuke shot blast after blast at Yomi's barrier, and slowly small bits of energy were starting to get through.

Once all of his demon energy was gone Yusuke sent a large blast of spirit energy at Yomi, causing a massive explosion.

"You were right," Sesshomaru snorted.

"Hmm, about what?" Rin asked, looking up at him.

"He is like InuYasha."

Rin giggled.

As the smoke cleared Yusuke and Yomi proceeded to happily try and beat the living crap out of each other. Soon Yusuke started to glow with a power that was neither his demon energy nor his human spirit energy.

"Of all the things to inherit." Sesshomaru smiled.

"What is that energy?"

"It's the product of a technique that is unique to our blood line. The technique is called Kaio-ken it doubles ones energy, it takes a great deal of training to trigger it at will but sometimes it happens naturally." Sesshomaru explained, "I didn't think he would have an affinity for such a technique but it seems I've under estimated him."

"Does that mean you're going to train him?" Rin smiled up at her mate.

"Perhaps."

The two fighters charged at each other both putting all their remaining energy into a final blow.

Rin sighed as Yusuke went down and Yomi was announced the winner. "Well, at least he's alive right… he is alive right?"

Sesshomaru grabbed Rin's wrist as she started for the door.

"Rin they are checking him now we will know sooner if we wait for them to announce it." He pulled her back down to sit between his knees on the edge of the sofa, his arms around her waist and his chin resting on her shoulder as they waited and watched.

Yomi soon joined Yusuke on the ground and they were checked by one of the camera fox girls. She turned to face the camera, "Both Lord Yomi and Lord Yusuke are alive. They will be transported back for medical attention."

"Oh thank God." Rin breathed as she relaxed back into her mate.

"Hn. Come, we will wait for Yusuke at the infirmary." Sesshomaru and Rin stood and left the viewing room.
