PIERS' POV.
There was a jet in front of us. Our only escape from the sinking ship. But one of us wouldn't make it out of here. I doubt it that Minnie knows how to fly a jet and I'm not too good at it, which leaves Chris to fly this thing. So this means either I or Minnie will have to stay behind. And I wasn't about to let her die. No. not her.
Before I could speak out my mind, I heard Minnie grunt. Captain and I turned our heads only to see the small girl lying on the floor.
- Minnie? – I said approaching her.
I didn't have time to even walk up to her when a woman in a red blouse appeared next to Minnie. It took me a few moments to understand that it was Ada Wong who was standing next to her. *How the fuck is this possible?!* was the only thought in my head.
- You're dead. – Chris spoke up just as shocked. – I saw how you died. This is impossible.
- No, boys. – She spoke. It was the same voice. – You killed the woman that was responsible for the deaths of your comrades and the terrorizing of my baby sister. – She kneeled down and gently picked up Minnie in her hands. – But that woman was not Ada Wong.
- Leave her alone! – I yelled out aiming my gun at the woman.
- Stay away! – Captain did the same.
- Listen here! – The woman said, still holding Minnie in her hands. – As I see it, there are only 2 seats in that plane, so one of you will have to be left behind. So, I'm helping you out. I'm taking Minnie with me. – She turned her head directly at me. – Don't worry, Romeo, I'll bring back your Juliette safe and sound. – With that she shot her grapple gun and flew away with Minnie in her hold.
- NO! – Chris and I yelled out, shooting at the woman, but missing her.
- Captain, what do we do now? – I asked quickly. – We can't leave Minnie! That woman was supposed to be dead!
- Don't worry, we won't leave her. – Chris said. – But first we have to get out of here. Let's get it fired up!
We ran into the jet. Captain took the front seat and I sat behind him, thinking about Minnie all the time. We took off and flew away from the carrier. *Don't worry, Minnie, we're coming for you. I'm coming for you.*
MINNIE'S POV.
It felt like a marching band was playing inside of my head. I wanted to move but my hands weren't listening to me. Finally, I opened my eyes to see that I was sitting on a chair with my arms tied behind my back.
- What the fuck? – I tried to free myself, but everything was in vain.
- I'm glad to see that you woke up. – I heard a woman's voice and from the shadows appeared a person I didn't expect to see. Ada Wong.
- But you're… you're dead. – I stuttered.
- Obviously I'm not. – She said calmly, putting another chair in front of me and sitting down.
- But on the ship… I saw it with my own eyes… how you…
- It wasn't me, Minnie. It was Carla.
- Who?
- Long story. – She sighed. – Just…
- Long story my ass! – I cut her off. – Don't you think you owe me an explanation after everything that you did?! You killed innocent people! You killed my friends! Turned them into monsters!
- It wasn't me! It was Carla!
- Who the fuck is Carla and why does she look exactly like you then?!
- Carla was a researcher working for Simmons. She is the one that created the C-Virus. She looks like me because of Simmons. I've worked with Simmons many years ago and he became infatuated with me. After I refused to work with him anymore he wanted to have a copy of me. So he used the fact that Carla was in love with him against her. He injected her with the C-Virus and 4 years ago, a new Ada Wong was born. Simmons did everything he could to make Carla look, act and even think like me. Back in Edonia you've encountered the result of his training. It wasn't me in Edonia, Minnie, trust me. You know I wouldn't intentionally hurt you.
- Oh yeah?! Well then how do you call the fact of leaving your 4-year-old sister in the hands of researchers to conduct experiments on?! Huh?!
- Minnie, I didn't know. I had a job to do and I was certain that those people would take care of you. If I had known what they will do to you, I wouldn't have ever left you there. Believe me.
- I don't, Ada. I have absolutely no reason to believe you.
- I know that we're usually on different sides, but I want you to know that I never wanted to hurt you. Not when I left you at Rockfort Island, not when we met in Spain, not now.
- Then why the fuck did you tie me up?!
- I've been around long enough to take precautions. Especially when dealing with the people who want to kill me. – She narrowed her eyes at me. I knew that she was talking about my wish to put a bullet in her head.
- Why did you come here? If what you say about Carla is true, why are you helping us?
- I saw your name in one of Simmons' mission reports. I decided to dig into this and I found a few things that I didn't like. Especially the fact that you were involved here, because Simmons wanted to catch my attention. Also, there is a cure for the C-Virus, and I'm trying my best to make sure that the cure will be made, so that Simmons' plans would tumble down.
- A cure for the C-Virus?
- Yeah. I'm pretty sure you've met him. – I didn't understand what she was talking about. – Jake Muller.
- Muller? The mercenary? – Ada nodded. – What's so special about him?
- His blood. He has a very… special type of blood. He is immune to the C-Virus, so his blood can be used to make a cure for the virus.
- Special blood? Is he some sort of lab rat like me?
- He's Wesker's son, Minnie.
*Wesker? Where have I heard…* And then it hit me. Everything suddenly became clear. Wesker was my head researcher when I was locked up in Rockfort Island. Before Chris and Claire saved me, I would see Wesker once in a while. He was convinced that I was his greatest creation and weapon and he always tried to get me back, before Chris killed him. I still sometimes see the blond haired man with black sunglasses in my nightmares. *So that's why Jake looked familiar to me and Chris. He looks like Wesker.*
Suddenly I heard a radio turn on and Chris' voice appeared.
- Negative. We've lost one of our own. We have to get her back first. – I looked quizzically at Ada. She took out a radio.
- Where's my earpiece? – I asked. She took out a black device from her pocket. My earpiece.
- If your comrade was in the city, she's probably dead, agent Redfield. – A woman spoke over the radio.
- Listen here, lady. – It was Piers. – I don't know who you are and honestly I don't care. But I can guarantee you that Minnie Sledge is still alive and we will find her! So if you want for us to rescue those two, first help us find her!
- But there's no time. – The same woman answered. – Agent Birkin and Jake Muller are very important for the sake of the world. They need to be rescued from the facility. If…
- First – we find Minnie Sledge, and then we go after those two. End of discussion. – Chris said.
- I need to contact them, Ada. – I said. – They need to know I'm safe. If what you said is true, then Jake needs to be rescued, and they won't do it unless they know I'm alright.
- Chris, you have to save them. – Now, it was Leon. I looked at Ada pleadingly. She just sighed and put the radio to my ear.
- Chris, Piers, I'm alright. – I said. – We have no time to lose. Go to the facility, I'll meet you there. – Before I could say anything more Ada took the radio away from my ear.
- What do you think you're doing? – She exclaimed. – You'll meet them there? Are you stupid?! You almost got killed hanging around those men! The whole city is crawling with zombies, thanks to Carla's missile. I didn't do my job as a sister when you were a child, so I'm doing it now. You're not going there!
- Listen here, Ada. 6 months ago Chris disappeared because of what happened in Edonia. I thought I lost him then for good. Maybe you're sorry for what happened 18 years ago, but you can't change the fact that it happened. And Chris was my only family back then, together with Claire. And they still are. I will not lose Chris once again without a fight. I will be there and the only thing you can do is help me get there. I will not leave him, nor will I leave Piers.
- Now we're talking, kid. – Ada smirked. She stood up, walked behind me and untied my hands. – You really care about him, don't you?
- Of course I do. – I answered standing up. – After all, he is the one that got me off that Island.
- I wasn't talking about Redfield, Minnie. – She said fishing out a vial filled with red liquid from hr pocket.
- What? – I looked at her confused. She tossed me my earpiece.
- The sniper. – She explained smugly. I felt my cheeks heat up.
- You know, Ada. It's a bit too late to act like a good older sister. – I said putting the earpiece into my ear and having the chance to communicate with Chris and Piers. – Chris, this is Minnie. I'm alright. Where's the rallying point?
- Minnie! – I heard Piers let out a sigh. – We thought something happened when the connection broke. Where are you?
- I don't know. Just tell me where Jake and Sherry are held. I'll meet you there.
- They're on an underwater oil field in the Chinese waters. – I turned to Ada and she nodded.
- I'll be there. – I said.
- Minnie. – Piers spoke. – Good to know you're alive.
- Thanks. – I smiled. – Over and out. – I turned to Ada. – Will you tell me where it is?
- I'll take you there, kid. Here. – She extended the vial with the red liquid to me.
- What is this? – I asked taking the vial.
- A sample of Muller's blood. It's useless like that, but knowing that your blood is different too, it should work as an antidote for you. If by any chance you get infected with the C-Virus, use it. – She also gave me a syringe. I didn't know what to say. This was the woman I hated my whole life. And now, she's doing everything to protect me. – OK, no time to lose. Let's go. – She walked to the door and I followed her. – Your rifle was left at the carrier, so take this instead. – Ada gave me a Bear Commander. – Took it from a soldier. Pretty sure he won't need it in the condition I found him.
We walked out the door and were greeted by complete chaos. People were running around in panic, zombies were at every corner of the streets; people were screaming when the zombies would attack them and eat their flesh. The view was horrible.
- How will we get through this whole mess? – I asked horrified.
- We'll do it my style, sunshine. – With that Ada put her arm around my waist and shot her grapple gun.
In an instant we were in the air, flying over the heads of the people, who were running for their lives, and zombies, who were eating and killing everyone in their path. In a few moments we landed by the pier, next to a water motorcycle. She climbed onto it and motioned for me to sit behind her.
- Hold on tight. – She exclaimed as she turned on the engine and we started moving over the water.
About 20 minutes later an oil field was visible in the distance. *We're almost there.* I thought anxiously. After 10 more minutes we were next to it and Ada stopped the motorcycle. The oil field was huge.
- How the fuck am I going to get up there? – I said out loud. I heard an engine above my head and a few moments later I saw a jet land on top of the oil field. *They're here.*
- Use this. – Ada said, handing me her grapple gun.
- Won't you need it?
- Just stay alive, kid. If something happens to you, the dynamic duo above us will think that hell is a summer resort after I get through with them.
I aimed the newly received gun above my head, but before shooting it, I looked at Ada for one last time.
- Thanks, Ada. – With that, I shot the gun. The hook caught the edge of the highest platform and pulled me up. In a matter of seconds I was in the air and grabbed the edge of the platform. – Jesus Christ! – I exclaimed struggling to pull up. – How does she do it so easily?
Once on the platform I heard someone yell out my name. I turned around and saw Chris and Piers running towards me.
- Minnie, are you okay?! – Piers asked grabbing me by the arms and inspecting me. – What did she do to you?
- Did she hurt you? – Now it was Chris. – How the fuck is she still alive?!
- Woah, guys, calm down. I'm fine, she didn't hurt me. As for the whole death thing, it's rather complicated but I will explain everything later. Now we have to save Sherry and… Muller.
- OK. Let's get moving then. – Chris said with suspicion in his face, but trusting me on what I said.
All of us ran to the huge elevator and Chris pulled the lever to open the door. When it did, we entered the elevator and pushed the button to go down. This was probably the first calm moment in a while and the fatigue kicked in. I leaned against Piers who was standing next to me and closed my eyes. I felt Piers tense a bit from our contact.
- Can't remember the last time I've been this tired. – I muttered.
- It's still not too late to go back. – Chris said and my eyes shot open.
- And leave you two alone to get into more trouble than you already are? I don't think so. – I tried joking.
- We were trained for these kinds of missions, Minnie. – Piers said softly. I looked at him and playfully punched him in the arm.
- You're not getting rid of me that easily, pup. – I said smugly, resuming my previous position of leaning against Piers. I received a quiet chuckle from the sniper, but Chris had a dull expression on his face and was thinking about something intensively.
- What is it, Chris? – I asked standing up straight.
- It's Jake. – Chris answered grimly. – Did you know that he's…
- Wesker's son. – I cut him off. – Yeah, I know. Ada told me. You had your fight with him, I had mine. But that doesn't change the fact that we have to do what we came here to do.
- There's irony for you. – Piers said as he reloaded his gun. – A man who spent his entire life trying to destroy the world, and now… his son is the only one who can save it.
- And here I am coming to rescue him. – Chris added.
- The man who killed his father. – Piers continued. – Like I said – irony.
- I don't know, maybe it's fate. – Chris said and after these words light flooded the elevator and we saw that we were going deep underwater, where a whole facility was built. – It's been 3 years since I killed Wesker. I can't let this war follow me forever.
- Chris. – I said softly, understanding where this was going.
- After we rescue Jake, I'm turning in my gun. – Chris said assuredly. I just lowered my head knowing that my suspicions were right.
- What?! – Piers exclaimed shocked. – Wait a minute…
- It's about time someone took my place. – Chris cut the younger soldier off. – And I'd be honored if it was you.
- I… I don't think I'm ready for that. – Piers stuttered. *Piers Nivans stuttering? Now that's a first.* I laughed in my head.
- You've made it this far, haven't you? – Chris said.
- Hey, pup. – I spoke out. – You're probably the best person for the job. And you should know that I don't say things like that easily. – I winked and smiled at him reassuringly. Both Chris and Piers let out a laugh.
- Besides, if this troublemaker ever gets to work with the BSAA again, I'll know that you'll be there to get her ass out of trouble. – Chris laughed a bit and Piers threw me a small smile. The elevator stopped in the lowest level. – Alright, let's go.
Hi, guys! Here's another chapter ^_^ First of all, thank you for the reviews and thanks for reading my story ^_^ I know that in the game Ada stays in the carrier to fight the mutated Carla, but I had to change that fact in order to write my story further. So please don't judge me for this. Also I wanted to let you know that there are only a few chapters left and the story will end T_T Although, I'm still working on the ending. I have a few options and I'm trying to choose out of them. So if any of you have any ideas for the ending, please let me know, maybe we'll work something out together ^_^
P.S. I can't promise you that I will post another chapter this year, since the New Year is just a couple of days away. So if we don't chat before the New Year, have a great holiday ^_^
