The three of us aimed our guns at the door and a few moments later it opened. We ran out of the elevator with our weapons ready to fire.

- Who the hell has the funding to build something like this? – Piers muttered.

- Crazy scientists who want to take over the world by turning humans into walking dead creatures. – I answered sarcastically as we followed Chris further into the underwater facility.

- It's got Neo-Umbrella written all over it. – Chris retorted. – Be careful. Knowing them, there'll be some surprises.

We opened a huge door which led us into a control room filled with monitors.

- Captain! – Piers said as he motioned into one of the monitors. There we saw Jake and Sherry, both locked up in some sort of device, back to back.

- OK, let's set the two birds free. – I said as I started working with the panels, trying to find the one that would release the both of them. – I think I got it! – I exclaimed and on the panel appeared the word "Unlock".

- Good job. – Piers said, but then suddenly the monitor turned red and the alarm went off.

- They found us! – Chris yelled.

- We gotta go! – Piers shouted out as he ushered me to the door. – Captain, can you pin-point their location?

- They're in some sort of research bay. – Chris answered. – We can get there from the lower levels. Let's go get 'em!

The door that we came in through was locked so we looked for another way out. We saw an opening next to us, so we crawled in. it took us a few moments to crawl through it and we got out. Chris was the first, and then it was Piers and then me.

- Piers! I need you to scope out an area for me! – Chris ordered.

With help from Chris, Piers got over the gap that was separating us from some kind of huge storage. There was a huge ventilation shaft that we could use to reach an elevator of some sort. Unfortunately, the ventilator was on. *Nothing is ever easy with this mission.*

- We can't get into the ducts with these blades going. – I pointed out, showing Chris the ventilator.

- Piers, see if you can turn them off from up there. – Chris said into the earpiece.

- Roger that. – Piers answered and a few moments later the ventilator stopped spinning.

- I'm going in. – Chris said as he was ready to jump down. We heard gunfire on Piers' side of the room.

- Ah, for Christ's sake! – Piers yelled out as he returned fire.

- You go, I'll help him out. – I said as I used Ada's grapple gun to get to the other side.

- Piers and I took cover behind some crates and fired at the hostiles that were coming our way.

- I'll see what I find here. – Chris said over the earpiece. – Wait for my command.

- Roger that. – Both of us answered in unison as we continued firing.

- Piers, Minnie, I've got another set of blades in the way. – Chris told us.

- I'm on it. – I answered. – Just give me a minute. Piers, cover me. – I ran to the lever, bullets flying over my head and pulled it down. – It's off, Chris. You're good to go.

I returned to Piers and kept firing at our enemies. It was starting to get too hot with all the creatures coming at us. No matter how much we would kill, more would just come. And then, finally, Chris' voice appeared over the earpiece.

- I've restored power to the elevator.

- Copy. – Piers answered. – We'll rendezvous with you ahead.

- I'm in the elevator. – Chris said. – Headed your way.

- Copy that, Captain. – Piers answered. – Come on, let's get to the elevator or they'll slaughter us here.

- Couldn't agree more. – I replied and we dashed for the elevator on the other side of the room.

When we reached the elevator, dodging all the bullets that were fired at us, the door opened and we ran in. Chris quickly pressed the button, the door closed leaving all the hostiles behind them and we started going down. Once we got down and out of the elevator, we approached a door that Piers and Chris had to force open. When we entered the room, we were greeted by more hostiles. They were the same robotic type that we had first encountered on the carrier. After we had finally taken them out we were able to move further. We had reached another elevator and took it to go down as well. We got out into a room that looked similar to the one that Jake and Sherry were held at. *We must be close.* There was a door, but behind it was water. A bit further into the water I saw another door.

- We have to get over there, somehow. – I muttered. Chris and Piers pulled the levers by the door and a voice appeared.

- Engaging airlock. Connection to research block initiated. Please wait until the connection is complete.

We turned around to the sound of footsteps behind us. We saw the robotic creatures piling up. One of them pulled a lever and a lot of cocoons appeared from behind small doors all around the room. *That's just great.*

- Hello, stranger. – A woman's voice said over the speakers.

- Ada?! – Chris was confused, as was I. Ada wouldn't do this and the… other Ada was dead.

- Yup. It's me. – The voice replied. – Or should I say… was me. Consider this my little parting gift to you. If you've made it this far, I'm assuming you are BSAA. Not that it matters. You still won't stop my plan. No one can. One missile and this world will be transformed into a new "Eden". For my last… greatest creation.

- The message is recorded. – I said shooting at the creatures. – It has to be Carla.

- Who the fuck is Carla, Minnie?! – Chris yelled out.

- It's a very… very long story, Chris. – I answered dodging bullets and taking cover. – And now really isn't the time for that.

- When we get out of here, you'll have a lot of explaining to do, Minnie. – Piers said, also taking cover and professionally shooting down enemies with his sniper rifle.

- He will thrive in the ashes of the burning cities… - The voice continued. - … Conquering all that remains after the fall. He will reign as king of the new era!

The cocoons hatched and the gorilla thing creatures came running at us.

- Something tells me this "new creation" isn't a pillow pet. – Piers commented, destroying the shell of one of those creatures. – Any ideas, Minnie?

- None. – I said shooting down the creature with the destroyed shell. – Ada didn't tell me anything about Carla's plans.

- Again with the "Carla". – Chris muttered. – Piers! Can you get through to HQ?!

- No. – Piers answered. – Not unless we get topside.

- So we're on our own. – Chris commented.

- Wouldn't be the first time. – I replied taking down a few more of the creatures after Piers destroyed their shells.

- All right. Let's get Jake and Sherry the hell outta here! – Chris ordered. – Come on!

- Connection complete. Pressurizing area, now. – A report came over the speakers. – Please wait until air pressure levels have normalized.

- Jesus! Can't things go any faster?! – I yelled out furious, shooting down the robotic creature, trying to pull another lever down.

- Don't let it pull the lever! – Chris yelled out. – Last thing we need is more cocoons!

- Shit! They keep coming! – Piers retorted dodging a hit from the hostile.

- I've had just about enough of this. – I stated as I shot the grapple gun at the ceiling and pulled myself up in the air.

I held tightly at the gun's handle so I wouldn't fall and kept firing at the creatures from above. This way, they couldn't hit me, but I had a perfect view of all the room.

- Pressure normalized. – The voice said. – Connection procedures complete. Disengaging the safety lock.

I lowered myself down with the gun and ran to the door with both men behind me. We ran through the door, leaving the creatures behind us. Once through the door we saw Jake and Sherry running towards us. I looked closely at Jake and, fair enough, he resembled Wesker.

- Chris! – Sherry exclaimed with relief.

- Glad to see you're OK. – Chris told her.

- Wait, was that you who just freed us? – She asked.

- Looks like you guys saved the day again. – Jake said irritated. Chris looked closely at him.

- I can see your father in you. – He stated.

- How did you know where… - Sherry started, but was cut off by Jake.

- Wait, hold on a second. So you knew him?

- Yeah, I did. – Chris answered.

- And he isn't the only one. – I added looking hard at Jake.

- I'm the one that killed him. – Chris said calmly. Jake looked at Sherry, then took out his gun and aimed it at Chris. In an instant Piers had his gun aimed at Jake.

- It was you? – Jake asked.

- That's right. – Chris spoke out.

- Chris! – Piers tried to get his Captain's attention, letting him know that he is ready to shoot the red-head in front of him.

- You better put a leash on that puppy. – Jake said calmly. I chuckled silently. These were the exact same words I told Chris about Piers when we first met in Edonia.

- This is between me and him. – Chris said calming down Piers, who in exchange lowered his gun. – Go ahead, shoot. – Chris walked closer to the gun aimed at him. – You have every right to. Just promise that you'll survive. The world depends on it.

- Who the hell are you to tell me what to do?! – Jake yelled out.

- Stop it! – Sherry told him.

- Put your gun down! – Piers yelled out, raising his gun at Jake once again. – Now!

- No offence, Sherry. – I mumbled as I aimed my gun directly to her head. – Drop the gun, Jake, or the blonde here drops dead!

- Tell me, were you just… - It was as if Jake didn't even see or hear us. - …following orders, or was it personal?

- Both. – Chris answered.

- Chris, stop this stupid game! – I yelled at the soldier.

- Jake, please stop! – Sherry said looking with fear at me.

- …Before I put a bullet in your head! – Piers pressed on.

- Just put your gun down. – Sherry continued.

- If you fire that gun, there will be two corpses, Jake! – I yelled.

Jake yelled out and shot his gun. I was ready to pull the trigger of my gun, but I saw that Chris was still standing. Jake missed him on purpose and only grazed Chris' cheek. I let out a sigh of relief and lowered my gun. I didn't want to shoot Sherry in the first place, but if Jake would've done anything to Chris, he would have to also carry the guilt of Sherry's death.

- There are more important things at stake than you and me. – Jake said. Suddenly the facility started shaking and pieces on concrete started crumbling down.

- We gotta go! – I yelled out.

- Jake! – Sherry tried to get his attention.

- I know! – Jake yelled back.

- Guys! – Sherry yelled out. – I think this is some sort of lift! There's one over there, too! Let's get outta here!

Hi, guys! Yeah, I know, this chapter was a short one, but I had to sort the story some way and this seemed to be the best thing to do. This chapter probably wasn't very "active" because of all the shooting scenes, but I can promise you that the next chapter will be longer and a lot more interesting ^_^ (well, at least to me it was ^_^). Also, thank you for all the reviews. I hope you enjoy, so you know the drill, read and review, guys, I'd really appreciate it ^_^

P.S. As I probably mentioned earlier, the story is coming to an end (there are only a couple of chapters left T_T), and I'm still debating on the way I should end it (the very last chapter, AKA epilogue), so if you guys have any ideas, please feel free to share them with me ^_^
