Hey everyone. I was originally going to wait until after the finale to write this chapter. Thanks to Taylor, the update flowed out of me today. I really hope you all enjoy this chapter as it is mainly Olitz centered. Thank you all for reading and as always, Happy Olitzing.
"Are you ready Liv?" Abby asked as the final touches of her makeup were being applied.
"I've been ready for this day for the past eight years Abby. It's not everyday one becomes Mrs. Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III." Liv said in her best gladiator voice possible. No matter how hard she tried, Liv couldn't get rid of the fear that was quickly racing to the surface. The morning that was supposed to be filled with nothing but excitement quickly turned to dread.
What if he gets bored with me? What if he loses interest because the danger of us being caught no longer exists? What if I can't be the wife he expects me to be? What if he strays?
The final question that entered Liv's mind was more than she could take. Maybe it was the fact that she was hormonal, or maybe it was the fact that seeing as how he strayed once, the possibility of him straying again is very plausible. Either way Liv found herself no longer able to withhold the tears that threatened to fall. Sensing what Liv was feeling, Abby and Quinn cleared the room.
"I can't do this Abby. I'm not ready to become the next Ex-Mrs. Fitzgerald Grant."
Abby sat next to her clearly shaken friend and placed her hand over Liv's. Abby and Quinn had spent the entire night while Liv slept preparing for this very moment. They knew their boss, and they were quickly learning their friend. Abby knew what they were up against. For this, she called in reinforcements.
"Liv, I'll be right back." Abby said, leaving the shaken bride with a very nervous Quinn.
"I can't do this Cy. What if Liv realizes I'm not the one? What if I can't keep her satisfied in the bedroom? I mean the woman is insatiable! I mean, I'm not exactly in my 30's anymore. What if she gets bored? What if she strays? I'm not prepared to become Ex-Mr. Olivia Pope." Fitz shot out question after question, fear after fear. Cyrus knew this was coming. Well, he didn't know for sure, but he was definitely glad he agreed to join forces with Abby and the rest of Liv's team to help prepare for this exact moment.
"Fitz, first I want you to calm down. I'll be right back." Cyrus said as he left the room.
Cyrus walked out into the hallway and ran straight into Abby.
"Liv too?" He asked already knowing the answer by the look on the red heads face.
"Liv too. Are you ready?"
Cyrus nodded and it was time for them to spring into action.
Liv sat in the makeup chair trying her best not to cry. The makeup artist had already fixed the makeup her tears erased and Liv didn't want her to have to go through it again.
"Hey gorgeous, got a minute?" A voice called from the door. Liv turned around and saw none other than Stephen standing there.
"I always have time for you." Liv said trying her best to smile. Stephen seemed to have crossed the room in no more than three steps before he was at Liv's side.
"Talk to me. What's on your mind?"
"Maybe I made a mistake. Maybe you were right. Maybe I can't have him."
"Well you sure picked the worst time to tell me I was right, considering how wrong I truly was."
"What?" Liv asked, confused by Stephen's confession. Stephen took Liv's hands in his and sighed.
"Liv, I was wrong when I said you couldn't have him. I was wrong for walking out on you and Zion after you decided to be with him. I watched the two of you together when we were in Florida. You know what I saw?"
"What?"
"I saw two people that are truly made for each other. I saw two people who have surpassed the definition of love. I saw two people who gave, and sacrificed for years in hopes of being together one day. I saw two people who knocked every obstacle in their way out of the park. I saw two people that have shown me what I truly want in life. Two people that made me realize that maybe I can fix things with Georgia. Two people that gave me the strength to at least try. You are in love with him, and he is in love with you. Don't plan for things to fail, go along for the ride and enjoy every minute of it. Now, you will go out there, and you will marry the man that has put his love for you above everything. I mean are we gladiators or are we bitches?"
Liv sat looking at her friend. All hopes of keeping her makeup in tact were washed away with Stephen's words. The tears began to flow harder than they had been all morning. She needed this, she needed Stephen. When she needed him, his words, his friendship and support the most, he came through.
Liv hugged Stephen, then threw him out of the room so she could prepare to become Mrs. Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III.
Fitz sat nervously in his room trying to clear all negative thoughts from his mind. He was so deep in thought, he didn't even hear the door open.
"Mind if I come in?" the voice asked. Fitz hesitated at first, then nodded.
"So, tell me what's going on?"
"I'm afraid of letting Liv down. I'm afraid of hurting her, of disappointing her. I'm afraid of losing her."
"And you think that her agreeing to marry you is her sick twisted way of doing that?"
"No, I mean I know she's happy now, but what about long term? What if she changes her mind?"
"Fitz, you've known Olivia for eight years. I've known her from birth. She does not enter into anything lightly. She thinks long and hard about all possible avenues of her life. My daughter may be stubborn and down right frustrating at times, but she isn't stupid. She's in this for keeps."
"How do you know?"
"Because she is my child. She doesn't do anything halfway. She will commit to this marriage until she takes her last breath. I've seen you two together. It's like you breathe in sync. I was against this in the beginning, but I'm glad the two of you are taking this step."
"Thanks Eli."
"You're welcome. Now man up, finish getting dressed, and go make an honest woman out of my daughter. I have a shotgun in my car, but I have a feeling I won't need to use it." Eli said as he patted Fitz on the shoulder and walked out of the room.
Eli made his way down the hall just as Stephen was approaching the rest of the gladiators and Cyrus.
"Well?" Abby asked, not sure how much more she could take.
"We have a wedding to get to." Stephen and Eli said in unison. Both men had to admit they were skeptical when Abby had come up with the idea of having the two people they both had a rocky relationship with ease their wedding day jitters.
"It means a lot coming from any of us, but it means so much more coming from the two men that refuse to accept their union." Was what Abby said that had finally gotten everyone on board with the idea. Thankfully it worked. Crisis averted, everyone made their way to the wedding.
"Tom, can I take this blindfold off now? This is ridiculous!"
"Ma'am, the orders were for you to keep it on until just before you walk down the aisle. My hands are tied."
Liv scoffed at Tom as her hands were tied, literally. Fitz had Liv blindfolded and her hands tied to prevent her from peeking. He wasn't taking any chances with her seeing where they were. Liv felt the car come to a stop, and she heard the car door open. Tom reached for her hand, and surprisingly things were eerily quiet. Did people not show up for the wedding? Liv thought to herself. Sensing what she was thinking, Tom offered a brief response.
"We are going in through a private entrance. There are people standing around you holding cloaks so no one sees you before the president. Don't worry, we're almost there."
Liv took a deep breath and exhaled as they came to a complete stop and Tom removed Liv's blindfold and restraints. Liv opened her eyes, and saw Eli standing with her in a makeshift room that was built to conceal her from the world, and the location from her. Liv looked down and no answers were given as she saw herself standing on tiles. Liv looked up and there was a makeshift ceiling. She didn't even know if her wedding was indoor or outdoors.
"Livvie, you look gorgeous." Eli said of Liv standing in her custom made white floor length Marchesa wedding gown. Liv's hair was in a high bun with errand curls framing her face. Liv had diamonds dangling from each ear, and a 10 karat diamond necklace gracing her neck. She looked like a princess.
Eli held out his hand and Liv slipped her hand in his as the music began to play. She imagined her gladiators preceding her down the aisle with Karen and Jerry close behind, followed by Zion and Ella. Liv heard the "awws" of the crowd and knew that Zion and Ella were making their way down the aisle. Then it happened. Fitz decided he wanted to choose the song but he wanted it to be a surprise. Liv heard the piano begin to play and she recognized the song instantly.
What would I do without your smart mouth,
Drawing me in and you kicking me out.
You've got my head spinning
No kidding, I can't pin you down.
What's going on in that beautiful mind?
I'm your magical mystery ride.
And I'm sooo dizzy,
Don't know what hit me
But I'll be alright...
Liv froze as she realized she wasn't hearing John Legend's voice. It was Fitz! Fitz was singing the song she was going to walk down the aisle to! Not only did he choose All of me as the song, he was singing it directly to her! Before Liv had a moment to brace herself the curtains separated and Liv took in the hundreds of people that were standing, completely in awe of her beauty. Liv saw Fitz standing directly in front of her. She just had to make it down the aisle to him.
"Are you ready kid?" Eli asked with a squeeze of her hand.
"Let's do this."
'Right foot, left foot, repeat. You can do this' Liv thought to herself. Liv took in her surroundings. Three steps in, Liv was out of the makeshift room and was able to clearly see where they were.
Tears began flowing from Liv's eyes harder and faster as she noticed rows and rows of... roses. Their first I love you, the proposal, and now their wedding. The story of their fight to become one would be finalized in the same place it all began. In the Rose Garden.
Thoughts of Fitz's words swarmed through her head as the man she loved more than life itself serenaded her as she walked down the aisle.
"I love you, I'm in love with you, you're the love of my life. My every feeling is controlled by the look on your face. I can't breathe without you, I can't sleep without you, I exists for you."
Liv looked at Fitz as she inched her way closer. She knew she was walking slower than she should have been, but she also knew if she picked up the pace, her wobbly legs would give out on her. Liv continued her wedding march, allowing the soothing sounds of Fitz's voice to carry her away.
How many times do I have to tell you,
Even when you're crying you're beautiful too
The world is beating you down
I'm around
Through every mood.
You're my downfall,
You're my muse,
My worst distraction,
My rhythm and blues.
I can't stop singing
It's ringing
In my head for you...
Liv tried her best to see through the cloudiness of her tears, and all she could say was she was thankful for two major things right now. First, Eli had a grip on her so tight she wouldn't have fallen if she tried, and two for waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Liv and Eli made their way to the end of the aisle and stood arm in arm as Fitz finish his serenade to his soon to be bride.
Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges,
All your perfect imperfections.
Give your all to me,
I'll give my all to you.
You're my end and my beginning,
Even when I lose I'm winning
Cause I give you all...of me,
And you give me all...of you.
Liv could help but notice that Fitz's tears were flowing just as fast and just as hard as her were. Everything they'd been through did nothing other than bring them closer to this very moment. The moment where they proclaimed their love to the world in a place that had far more meaning to them than any of their guests could ever imagine. Eli kissed Liv on the cheek and placed her hand in Fitz's. Fitz looked at Liv and smiled.
"You ready?"
"Let's do this."
"Do you mind if I steal my gorgeous wife for a moment?" Fitz asked Congressman Shaw as they were twirling on the dance floor. Shaw hugged Liv and turned to begin dancing with a blonde he spotted a few seconds before. Fitz took Liv in his arms and planted the sweetest kiss on her lips.
"Let's go for a walk, Mrs. Grant." Fitz said as he grabbed Liv's hand and headed towards the exit. Liv refused to be in her gown past the throwing of the garter and the tossing of the bouquet. Once the two were out of the way, Liv changed, but instead of the couple leaving for their honeymoon at that moment, they stayed to mingle with guests, they still had four children to get settled at Cyrus and James' so they could enjoy their wedding night. Because of that, their plane wasn't set to leave until early the next morning. As Cyrus and James prepares to leave with Ella, Zion, Teddy, Karen, and Gerry, Fitz grabbed Liv's arm, and made their way out the door stopping only when they had reached the rose garden. Fitz decided it was time to spring yet another surprise on Liv.
"We aren't going home tonight."
"Then where are we-"
"The Lincoln bedroom." Fitz said with a sly smile. "I wanted our first night as husband and wife to be spent in the White House. We leave for the airport tomorrow at noon. Until then, we are here. Not to return home until after our honeymoon where I will carry you over the threshold and most likely make love to you wherever we fall."
Liv looked up at Fitz then around the rose garden, and back to Fitz. The entire day had been perfect. He had been perfect. Liv could only come up with one response as she pushed Fitz down to the ground and straddled his waist.
"Make love to me Mr. Grant."
Fitz slid his hands up Liv's thighs and smiled as he realized she was naked under her dress.
"Foregoing the panties tonight?"
"Do you object?" Liv asked as she unbuckled Fitz's belt and worked on his button and zipper to free his erection.
"Not at all." Fitz replied with a moan as Liv lowered herself onto his length, taking all of him in.
Fitz held on to Liv's hips as her movements began slow at first, then picked up to faster more urgent pace. Fitz reached up and grabbed Liv's hair, pulling her lips down to his. His hand crept between them as he began to apply pressure to her bundle of nerves, quickly sending her over the edge. Fitz's mouth pressed against Liv's muffled all of their screams as he too followed over the same cliff just moments later.
Liv's head collapsed against Fitz's chest and Fitz smiled as she began kissing his chin.
"Fitz, this was the most perfect day. Never in a million years did I think our wedding day would be this... magical. We said our first 'I love you here. You proposed to me here. We wed here.-"
"We consummated our marriage here." Fitz added.
"You are amazing. How did I get so lucky as to have you in my life?"
"Easy, you allowed yourself to be inappropriate." Fitz said with a playful grin.
"Mr. Grant."
"Yes Mrs. Grant?"
"Take me to bed."
