"Where's Muscleman?" Mordecai asked. There was a short silence. "And Pops?" Rigby asked, the silence continued. "They're both dead." HFG sighed. Skips shook his head in sadness.
"Grief had already struck us on the first day. With two friends already dead. We both knew that it was just the beginning."

Mordecai saw Felix's reanimated corpse slowly crawling towards him. He knew he had to decide to leave him, or put him out of his misery. He raised the gun, his wing shaking. He lowered it and wiped a few tears away. "Let's go." He said, approaching the car.
"You have to make choices to survive. However, some choices are too hard to make for yourselves."
SRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSSSRRSRSSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRS
"I can't raise our child on my own…please…wake up…" Micheal begged, his cheeks stained with tears. He felt Carly's body move underneath his hands and glanced down at it. "No!" Mordecai shouted, as Carly pulled her husband down and bit his neck. "NO!" Sean screamed.
"We all have lost people, and we're going to continue losing more. There is nothing anyone can do about it."
SRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSSRSRRSSRRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRS
Sean stabbed the kidnapper in the back, watching him fall to the floor. Sean looked at the knife and shook his head. "Let's go!" He whispered loudly.
"Raising a kid in the apocalypse is harder than you think. You have to protect them, and teach them to survive on their own at the same time."
SRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRSSRRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRRSSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSR
Rigby pulled Alpha in for a hug, before glancing over at Sean. "He looks like me." Alpha said, following Rigby's glance. Sean smiled and looked back up at them. "What happened to his parents?" Alpha asked, glancing at the raccoon. Rigby looked down at the floor and shook his head.
"You're happy for the first few seconds when you meet an old friend. However, further down the line, sometimes you wish you hadn't met them in the first place."
SRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRSSRRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRRSSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSR
After their daring escape, the duo walked down the long stretch of road. "I don't think we should've given that girl the supplies. We needed them." Mordecai looked over at Rigby. Rigby shook his head and looked back up at the taller one. "It may be the apocalypse, but that doesn't mean we can't help people." Rigby responded.
"Fortunately for us, being friendly hadn't cost us yet. However I knew it would come back to bite us."
SRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRRSRSRSRRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSR
"Thomas!" Rigby shouted, as Thomas broke through the ice. The silence was almost deafening. Rigby drooped his head down and sighed. "He's gone." He muttered.
"Being careful is the primary thing to survival. The weak ones will die first, while the strong will remain alive."
SRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRSSRRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRRSSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSR
"Hey…" Sean greeted. Luke looked over at him, before getting out of the bush. "We won't hurt you." Sean looked at him. Luke glanced at the rest of the group, before looking over a Sean again, with a frightened face.
"Love at first sight. It happens to all of us, but it has no place during the apocalypse."
SRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRSSRRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRRSSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSR
Alpha pulled the trigger and the bullet went straight through Axel's brain. "What the fuck?!" Vivian screamed, as she watched her companion collapse to the ground. Alpha felt immediate grief, as he dropped the gun. The gun hit the floor, sending an entire echo through the dark store.
"When people are scared. They get reckless. The walkers won't be the death of you, yourselves will."
SRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRSSRRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRRSSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSR
Vivian reached for the gun on Mordecai's hip and held it up to Alpha's head. "No!" Margaret pushed him out of the way, moving forward while doing so. The whole group stood there, shocked. As the bullet fired from Mordecai's pistol pierced the robin's brain.
After an intense argument, the remaining group members trudged into the snow. Rigby looked back at Vivian, and watched her get eaten by the walkers that had surrounded her. He shook his head and continued walking.
"When a group can't keep itself together, it falls apart. And unfortunately when it falls apart, people can die."
SRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRSSRRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRRSSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSR
"Welcome to the farm!" Cody greeted, as the group exited the truck. "Nice place!" Rigby exclaimed, eyeing the farmhouse and the surrounding barns.
"Things that look good aren't always as good as they seem. The farm we visited however, was no such place."
SRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRSSRRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRRSSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSR
Luke smiled at Sean, before reaching forward to kiss him. There was no time for the other one to react. Their lips connected and they both smiled. Luke pulled away, remaining silent.
"Remaining focused is vital to keeping yourself alive. Even if that means abandoning the people you love."
SRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRSSRRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRRSSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSR
Cody's head exploded on impact, as the pellet pierced his skull. The insides of his head splattered all over the interior. Rigby had little time to react. He scooched over to the steering wheel and regained control of the vehicle.
"If the leader falls, somebody has to step up. Otherwise the group will fall apart. A group without a leader, is like snow without cold."
SRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRS
Rigby wrapped his arms around Mordecai. "My fate is sealed." He sighed. Mordecai remained silent. He glanced at the dead walker at the door and tears began to fall from his eyes.
"People think that there is a cure. People believe they will find a cure for the disease. But people die chasing impossible things. I should know."
SRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRRSRSSRRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRSRRSRSRSRSRSRRSSRRSRSRSRSRSRSRSR
A/N; Now that you have read a little refresher, let's get on with the story.
Rigby pulled away from his taller friend and looked him straight in the eye. "What are we gonna tell the others?" Rigby asked, covering the bite with his paw.
"I…I don't know man…" Mordecai shook his head. "There has to be something we can do…you can't die." Mordecai denied.
"Mordecai. Getting bitten means death. I'm going to die." Rigby bluntly explained. "I'm sorry man, we can't do anything." Rigby sighed.
"I'm sorry…it's just so…surreal." Mordecai held his head. "I just need a second." Mordecai sighed.
"Mordecai. We have two children out there who are counting on us. We need to go out there and make sure they're alright." Rigby walked over to the door and pushed it back open.
"But…" Mordecai attempted to argue with him. Rigby looked over at him, with a saddened face. Rigby pushed the walker out of the way and went back into the shop. "Wait for me!" Mordecai quickly ran after him.
"Look!" Rigby pointed to the front of the store. There were walkers at the door, trying to get in. Luckily, they weren't smart enough to pass through the whole in the window. "We can pass through the window silently, then we can get into the car without alerting any of the walkers." Rigby said, pointing over to the window.
"Can you do that in your condition?" Mordecai asked. Rigby gave him a dirty look. "Sorry." Mordecai sighed. Rigby shook his head and glanced back at the door.
"Do you think-…" The two men heard the sound of an engine being started. "The hell?" Rigby exclaimed, stepping back a little. "Is that the truck?" Rigby asked.
Mordecai looked back over at Rigby. "It sounds like it. We should go check-…" Suddenly, the truck smashed through the front door of the store, squishing the walkers that were banging on the door. "The fuck!?" Mordecai shouted.
"Get the fuck in!" Rigby noticed Alpha and Sean in the front of the truck. Mordecai checked his backpack, then glanced at Rigby's. "We've got enough supplies, let's just get the hell out of here." Mordecai said, running to the truck. Rigby followed him. On the way to the truck, a walker grabbed Rigby's leg. Rigby was quick to react and stomped its head. Rigby quickly opened the back door and jumped into the back seat with Mordecai.
"GO!" Sean shouted. Alpha looked behind him, through the back windscreen and reversed out of the store. Alpha turned to the left and glanced at the road ahead of him. "Where are we going?" Alpha asked, a slight bit of panic in his voice.
"Just go straight!" Mordecai exclaimed. Alpha pushed his foot down on the accelerator and the truck began speeding through the town. The truck was extremely loud, and not very fast. It put them at a massive disadvantage, due to the quantity of walkers that had surrounded them. Rigby looked through the back of the truck and saw a massive horde of walkers pursuing them.
"Can this thing go any faster?" Luke asked, peering over the front seat. Sean looked back at him and shook his head. "Damn it." Luke sighed.
Mordecai looked over at Rigby, who had covered his bite with the sleeve of his jacket. Mordecai gave him a worried look. Rigby looked back at him and frowned.
"What the fuck!?" Alpha suddenly shouted. He applied both of his feet onto the brake to stop the car. There was a massive line of cars blocking the way out of the town. "Hold on! We're gonna have to take an alternate route!" Alpha warned. He turned the truck to the left and began travelling down a different road.
Alpha saw the end of the road in front of him. He noticed a small space in-between two houses that was big enough for the truck to fit through. "Okay, hold on!" Alpha warned again. The truck drove over the curb and onto the grass. The truck passed through the space and onto another dead-end road.
"I think you can slow the truck down now." Sean said. Alpha nodded and began slowing the truck down. "Which way do we go now?" Sean asked, looking back at Mordecai.
"It's this next left, by memory." Rigby said, pointing out the front of the car. Alpha nodded and turned the truck to the left. A few minutes later, the group found themselves outside of the town. Luke crawled over the front seat and sat beside Sean. Alpha glanced over the back seat and saw Mordecai cradling Rigby in his arms.
"He's oddly quiet." Alpha said, looking up at Mordecai. Mordecai just looked back at him and frowned. "You guys should get some sleep. Hey Sean, get the map out from the glove compartment, would you?" Alpha asked. Sean nodded and reached over to the compartment in front of him.
He opened it and pulled out the foldable map. He shut the compartment and unfolded the map. "Where are we now?" Alpha asked, not taking his eyes off the road.
"We just left Rock Springs." Sean replied.
"Do you still have your compass on you?" Alpha asked, looking over at Sean for a moment, before turning back to the road.
"Yeah! I do!" Sean exclaimed. He reached into his pocket, but his paw came out the other side. "Oh fuck." Sean cursed. "There's a hole in my pocket. The compass must've fallen out." Sean groaned.
"Damn it." Alpha sighed. "Oh wait! Nevermind, there's a sign right there." Alpha slowed the truck down so Sean could see it. Sean and Luke glanced over at the sign. "We're on route 191. Wasn't that the route that Rigby said we should be going on?" Sean asked.
"Yes, he did." Alpha replied. "So that means we're going the right way?" Alpha sped the truck up again.
"Seems like it." Sean replied, looking at the map. "It says here that we'll drive through a place called Eden." Sean noted. "That's not far away from where we are." Sean added.
"Good, we can probably stop there for supplies." Alpha breathed a sigh of relief. "And to be honest. I'm fucking starving." Alpha sighed.
"We all are." Luke shook his head. "Man, what I'd do for a good ol' home-cooked meal." Luke frowned.
"I could go for a steak right now." Sean shrugged.
"Oh man, I don't remember the last time I had a fully cooked steak." Alpha smirked. "It'd surely be better than the canned crap we've got." Alpha added, glancing over at Luke. Luke turned around and reached into the back seat.
"What're you doing?" Sean asked, with a hint of curiosity. Luke remained silent and reached for his back. He picked it up and practically threw it on his lap.
"Well…I found this a while back…" Luke said, as he opened the backpack. "I think it's almost past its use-by date though." Luke added.
"How do you know?" Sean asked. "It's not like any of us know what the date is." Sean gave Luke a sceptical look.
"Well, I know." Luke replied, pulling out a small wristwatch.
"You never told me you had a watch." Sean smirked.
"It stopped working a while back. Though, Cody was nice enough to give me some batteries for it." Luke smiled. "It doesn't just tell the time aswell. It tells what the date is, and how fast we are going." Luke explained.
"A watch telling us how fast we're going? That's stupid." Alpha chuckled. "I used to have a GPS for my old car a while back. It pissed the hell out of me, but my brother; Omega insisted that I kept it, if we ever went for a 'trip'." Alpha chuckled.
"Of course we never did, so the GPS was useless, as we barely left town." Alpha continued. "Every time I went even one mile over the speed limit, the GPS would sound an alarm and would continuously tell me to slow down." Alpha smiled. "And so this one day, Omega and I were driving around in the new car he bought. Of course he asked me to bring it with us, so I did." The wolf continued on.
"And we were driving along the highway, and the GPS wouldn't stop annoying me. The constant beeping and the voice telling me to slow down finally made me snap. So, I ripped it out of the cigarette lighter, and threw it out the window." Alpha laughed.
Luke laughed along with him. "I've never owned one personally, but I heard they're pretty irritating." Luke chuckled.
"Ha! That's an understatement, kid." Alpha smiled.
Sean looked at the two of them and smiled. "It's nice to hear people laughing." He said. "It feels like forever since I've heard somebody laugh." Sean sighed.
"Yeah, we should try to do that more often." Alpha looked at the two of them.
"Agreed." Sean and Luke said in unison. The truck continued to drive down the road, as snow began to fall again. Alpha switched on the wipers and began paying more attention to the road, while Luke and Sean turned to each other.
"There isn't much of us left." Sean muttered, peering over the back seat.
"Yeah…me…you…Alpha, Rigby…and Mordecai. Man, I miss the rest of us." Luke sighed. "Though I'd imagine you've lost more people than I have." Luke frowned.
Sean nodded. "I hate to agree with you on that one, but I guess I have." Sean sighed. Luke pulled Sean in for a hug. Sean rested his head on the shorter wolves' shoulder.
"I miss my parents." Sean pulled away from Luke and looked into his eyes.
"I do too man." Luke sighed. "I wish mine were here." Luke frowned.
"Mine too." Sean looked out the front windscreen. There were a few minutes of silence, before Sean decided to speak up.
"How did it ever come to this?" Sean asked, in a cold voice.
"What do you mean?" Luke asked, with a hint of sadness in his voice.
"Sittin' here, in a truck with four strangers." Sean sighed. "All my real family are gone. But, I have you guys." Sean continued. "I guess what I'm trying to say is…" Sean sighed. "I never thought I'd be here. I thought I would be dead." Sean frowned.
"I remember on the first day of the apocalypse. My parents and I were desperately trying to escape New York. They told me it would be fine. And they told me that it would all work out." Sean sighed. "All I can say now, is they were wrong." Sean added.
Luke remained silent and shook his head. "But I'm glad they were wrong." Sean cracked a smile. "I don't know why I am, but I know I am." Sean looked back over at Luke.
"You don't need to worry about stuff like that." Luke shook his head. "Let's just enjoy the peace we have. It won't last." Luke said.
Sean nodded and smiled at him. "You know what I was thinking?" Sean asked.
"No, I can't read your mind." Luke smirked. Sean rolled his eyes and looked at him again.
"I was thinking about the kiss back at the farmhouse." Sean said. "Was that just a one-time thing?" Sean asked.
Luke cleared his throat the scratched his neck. "Of course not." Luke chuckled. He blushed a little bit, before looking over a Sean. "We can do it again, if you wish." Luke said, chuckling a little. Alpha looked over at them and smiled.
Sean reached over and wrapped his arms around Luke's shoulders. Luke did the same and they pulled themselves into each other. Alpha looked back over at them after a minute had past.
"Alright guys, you don't want to be enjoying it too much." Alpha interrupted. Sean and Luke pulled away from each other and looked over at him. "You guys are too young for it." Alpha chuckled.
"There's no such thing as young during the apocalypse." Sean shrugged. Alpha just chuckled and looked back at the road.
"Oh! I forgot the whole point of the bag." Luke reached for his bag, which he had dropped during their kissing session. "There we go." He pulled out a bottle of alcohol.
"Where'd you find that?" Sean asked. "I found it at the hotel. It was in the fridge." Luke replied.
"It isn't cold though." He said, taking the cork out of the bottle. He looked over at Alpha. "Want a sip?" Luke asked.
Alpha glanced at the bottle. "Where did you get that?" Alpha asked.
"It doesn't matter. Do you want a sip or not?" Luke asked, becoming impatient.
"Uhm, no thanks. I gotta stay frosty. But if you got some left later, when I'm not driving, I would like some." Alpha said. Luke nodded and brought the top of the bottle to his mouth.
"You're gonna drink that stuff?" Sean asked, a little disgusted at the contents of the bottle. "It looks like crap mixed with water." Sean smirked.
"It isn't as bad as it looks. It actually doesn't taste that bad." Luke took a sip. He coughed a little after drinking it. He cleared his throat and handed the bottle to Sean. "Want a sip?" Luke asked.
"Are you sure it isn't shit?" Sean asked, not very confident about taking a sip.
"Yes, I'm sure. Otherwise I wouldn't drink it." Luke smirked. "Now go ahead." He added.
Sean sighed and put the top of the bottle in his mouth. Luke watched in awe as Sean drunk the rest of the bottle. "Goddamn!" He exclaimed. "That was your first drink?" Luke asked, amazed.
"Yeah…it wasn't bad." Sean handed it back over to him.
"You drank the whole bottle!" Luke looked at the bottle.
"He what?" Alpha looked over at them. "I was hoping I'd get a drink." Alpha sighed.
"Don't worry, I'm sure there's a liquor store in Eden." Luke shrugged. "We can grab a bunch of bottles and just have a party." Luke chuckled. The three wolves laughed, as the truck continued down the road.
Meanwhile
"Curfew begins in fifteen minutes. Be sure to be in your designated tent before curfew has begun. If you are caught outside during your curfew, you will face punishment." A lady over an intercom spoke. Eileen looked up at the intercom, while the lady continued to repeat the same message.
Eileen noticed two people dressed in average clothes walk by, both of them speaking about the nearby town. "We'll head down to Swan Valley at the crack of dawn. The sooner we do it, the sooner we can shut the city down, so we can expand." One of them said.
"Yeah, it would be useful if we had more room. It's not like we can invite more people into this place." The other one tapped the wall of the facility. The other one nodded and they walked away.
Eileen shook her head and began walking back to her tent. She adjusted her glasses as she approached the tent.
She walked through the entrance into the tent and glanced at her bed. She noticed HFG on the top bunk. "I was wondering where you were." Eileen said, walking over to the bed.
"Same here. Curfew's beginning soon, I was thinkin' that I had to go find you." HFG said, looking down at her. Eileen shrugged and sat on the edge of her bed.
"I would've been fine." Eileen shrugged. "You don't need to worry." Eileen added, taking off her shoes and lying on the bed.
"How long do you think we'll be here for?" Eileen asked.
"Hopefully a long time. Or at least until they find a cure for this thing." HFG replied. "You think they will find a cure?" The ghost asked.
"I doubt it." Eileen sighed.
"I'm just trying to keep things positive." HFG sighed.
"I know, I wasn't trying to ruin the mood." Eileen frowned. "Let's try to get some sleep, huh? I sure as hell could use another good night's sleep." Eileen covered herself with a blanket.
"I guess. Night 'Leen." HFG turned over.
Eileen reached over to the bedside table and blew out the candle resting on the top. "Night." She put her head back on the pillow and closed her eyes. Eventually, she fell asleep.
HFG looked down at her from the top bunk and cracked a small smile. "I sure as hell hope the guys are alright." HFG covered himself with the covers of the bed again and closed his eyes.
Both of them had the best sleep they'd ever had in a very long time.
