REVISED 7/25/2013.

It took Kirsten and Harry five minutes to reach Gryffindor Tower after passing the damn security trolls. Kirsten couldn't get rid of Professor Trelawney's words from resounding in her head.

Specifically about the Simurgh's role.

She spotted Ron and Hermione in the corner heads pulled together.

"Professor Trelawney—" Harry panted, causing the two Gryffindors to look up, "just told us—"

He stopped abruptly, noticing the expressions they were both wearing.

"Buckbeak lost," Ron said weakly. "Hagrid's just sent us this."

Harry took the parchment from his hands and Kirsten leaned in close to him to read. The handwriting was hardly legible and her heart plummeted at what she read.

Lost appeal. They're going to execute at sunset. Nothing you can do. Don't come down. I don't want you to see it.

Hagrid

She felt slightly bad for not being surprised by the outcome. But she had a reason to. With the way the Minister of Magic treated her it was no surprise that the Ministry would treat Buckbeak in this fashion. Especially since he happened to attack a Malfoy.

That wasn't going to stop Kirsten from seeing Hagrid though.

"We've got to go," Harry said at once. "He can't just sit there on his own, waiting for the executioner!"

"Sunset, though," Ron told him, staring out the window with a glazed look on his face. "We'd never be allowed…'specially you, Harry…"

Kirsten watched as Harry sunk his head into his hands and tilted her head in confusion.

Doesn't he have the Invisibility Cloak?

"If only we had the Invisibility Cloak…"

That answered her question.

"Where is it?" Hermione asked quickly. Harry told both Kirsten and Hermione that he left it in the passageway to Hogsmeade, underneath the one-eyed witch.

"…if Snape sees me anywhere near there again, I'm in serious trouble," he finished.

So that's what led Snape calling her and Remus to his office that day.

"That's true," Hermione agreed, getting to her feet. "If he sees you."

Her brown eyes met Kirsten's and the bushy haired witch raised an eyebrow. "Let's go, Kirsten."

A sly grin slipped onto Kirsten's face as she realized what Hermione wanted to do. And in the next instant the two girls disappeared out of the portrait hole, leaving a startled Ron and Harry.

It didn't take long for the black haired witch to show Hermione the passageway and the two witches slipped back into the common room, Hermione carrying the silvery cloak under her robes.

"Hermione, I don't know what's gotten into you lately!" Ron said, astounded. "First you hit Malfoy, then you walk out on Professor Trelawney—"

"I'm beginning to think you have something to do with all this. Influence wise, I mean," Harry muttered to Kirsten. She winked at the green eyed boy next to her as she watched the flattered look crossing Hermione's features with pride.

After dinner and the increasingly annoying glares she received from a certain group of Slytherins — not necessarily her fault that Parkinson tried and failed to curse her, earning a harsh detention of lines — Kirsten, Harry, Ron, and Hermione skulked off into an empty chamber.

Thump, thump. Thump, thump. Thump, thump.

Kirsten winced as the sounds of multiple heartbeats coursed through her head. Her head was throbbing painfully even when she could hear most of them fading into the background. But there was still several heartbeats that she could hear. The heartbeats that happened to belong to the people beside her.

She felt something was off.

Through all the pain, she felt heartbeats that sounded familiar to the ones beside her.

She had to bite her lip to keep from clutching her head in pain. To keep from the blood lust that would rise from her agony.

Instead she tried her hardest to focus on the two heartbeats that sounded so familiar...

"Ki, what's wrong?"

The voice belonged to Ron. Kirsten turned to face him, biting her lip even harder.

"Nothing," she bit out. She tried to twist her lips into a smile, but dropped as she saw perplexed looks they gave her.

She may or may not have looked like a deranged lunatic.

"Terrible headache...I'll see you at Hagrid's."

They didn't look convinced.

"You—"

"Yes!"

That definitely got them going.

It wasn't long till she heard their heartbeats fade only to be able to hear the other two familiar. Taking a deep breath, she tried the relaxing and focusing technique Remus had been trying to teach her.

She heard it all right.

She knew where it was coming from as well.

And there was no mistaking who those two heartbeats belonged too.

It was just the third one that had her for a second.

Kirsten placed her hand on top of her heart and frowned.

It was hers.

But how the hell could she be in two places at —

Oh.

She wanted to beat hell out of herself for even going down that train of thought.

She didn't know exactly how but it was what helped Hermione all year...

Kirsten shook her head and realized that heartbeats were no longer pounding in her head. Steadily getting to her feet, the fourteen year old began to walk down the corridor. Her eyes locked onto the closet where she heard the heartbeats from earlier.

Walking down even closer towards the closet, Kirsten didn't miss chocolate brown eyes peering through the crack of the door and couldn't help but smirk.

So Hermione really did use whatever it was.

It didn't take Kirsten long to get to the entrance doors, dragging herself away from a spot where she could be seen. She slumped down next to an overgrown bush that could safely hide her and decided to wait for Harry, Hermione, and Ron to return.

She sure didn't want to admit it out loud but that whole focusing and relaxing technique took a toll on her even if she wasn't close to mastering it. Leaning her head against the castle wall, Kirsten looked up at the sky.

"We'll run to the forest and save Buckbeak from there," an oddly familiar voice reached Kirsten's ears. Her eyes snapped back into reality at the voice and she turned her head in the direction it came from.

"If anyone sees us — Kirsten!"

What the hell?

It happened the second her name rang out that she saw a blur of a tall black haired teenager running from the entrance of the castle and straight to the forest. Seconds only passed when two other familiar figures rushed past the form of the tall witch. The taller of the two looked back at her with emerald green eyes and she couldn't help but wave at him.

Kirsten may have figured out what was going on but she wasn't going to say that it wasn't weird at all to see herself running into the Forbidden Forest. But her mind went back to what she heard herself say.

Save Buckbeak?

A small smile crept onto her lips as she thought about what might be taking place. Approximately five minutes passed when she saw Professor Dumbledore, Fudge, a feeble old man, and another man with a sharpened axe hooked onto his side, leave the castle to take the trail to Hagrid's home.

None of the men noticed the young witch sitting beside the castle and she wanted to roll her eyes at how sadly unaware they were. It was at that moment that the old headmaster decided to turn his head to look at her. She froze on the spot and wanted to take back what she said. It was then that she realized the old wizard gave her a crooked smile before turning his head back forward. She hoped he was smiling.

Well, besides Dumbledore.

Maybe he didn't see her...

Kirsten's mind was whirling at the outrageous events that happened in the span of the day. First that prediction with Trelawney, Buckbeak's set execution, hearing her heartbeat along with Harry and Hermione's, Dumbledore possibly seeing her and not saying a word, and now what?

"What crazy thing'll happen next?" Kirsten muttered under her breath.

"Scabbers, keep still. What's the matter with you, you stupid rat? Stay still — OUCH! He bit me!"

Kirsten's eyes widened as she heard Ron hiss those words.

Scabbers!?

The black haired witch scanned the area but didn't see them.

They must still be under the cloak.

She needed to get to them.

"Ron, be quiet!" she heard Hermione whisper urgently. "Fudge'll be out here in a minute —"

"He—won't—stay—put—"

"What's the matter with him?"

Kirsten looked around desperately to figure out where they were but couldn't spot them.

"Crookshanks!" Hermione moaned. "No, go away, Crookshanks! Go away!"

She narrowed her eyes as it zoomed in on the feline. From where she was sitting, Kirsten was surprised to be able to see his yellow eyes against the darkened sky, the sun now gone beyond the horizon.

"Scabbers—NO!"

Her eyes didn't miss a small figure hit the ground from out of nowhere.

"Ron!"

In the next instant, Hermione, Ron, and Harry were visible to her eyes. Ron raced to Scabbers grabbing a hold of him. But she didn't care about meeting up with them that now. Not after witnessing Scabbers still alive.

She tried pushing herself off the ground to try and race in the Ron and Scabbers' direction, only to see the sight of an enormous, jet black dog bounding toward the group of four.

Sirius.

The bearlike dog leaped and slammed square into Harry's chest only to pounce at Ron. Kirsten ran quickly toward the scene but stopped as something caught her eye.

Heading in Hermione's direction was an entirely large branch ready to slam into the bushy haired witch. Kirsten could feel her heart pounding loudly in her ears, adrenaline coursing through her veins.

The oddest sensation filled her at the moment as she stared at the branch that looked to be moving slow motion. She changed her course and ran straight into Hermione, shoving her down onto the ground.

Kirsten rolled off of her and got up only to see the same branch swinging back to hit her. She bent her back into a back bend that she didn't know she was capable of so quickly. Her eyes narrowed as she saw one of the enormous branches about to hit Harry. But she knew she was too far away to save him herself.

"Harry! Get down!"

And that's exactly what he did.

But she didn't realize until last second that the branch wasn't going to swing back at him, but was rushing straight towards her.

"Shi—"

It slammed straight into her stomach, knocking the breath out of her. Pain shot throughout her body, but not for long as her eyes rolled back.

The commotion around her fading away from view.
