Kyouka paced around her room, fiddling around with her brand-new ring.
To say that her mind was racing would be an understatement.
Tomorrow, everyone is going to summer camp, and lo and behold, the deadline Ochako gave her to confess to Izuku was coming up a week from today, and it would be near the end of camp.
Kyouka felt frustrated at herself that she's spent all this time sitting on her ass and not making any significant moves.
The biggest opportunity she had was at the party on I-Island, but that opportunity was quickly ruined when the villains attacked.
Sure, she had a bit of a chance on Izuku's birthday when they were on the bridge together, but she got cold feet in the end and felt like it wasn't the right time yet.
Maybe a confession on her birthday could've worked, but her dad would've surely ruined it.
'I'm so stupid! Now the only opportunity I have is at camp!'
Can camp really set the mood for a proper confession?
It might be possible if the two of them end up alone around a campfire or have a nice walk in the forest together at night and somehow come across a romantic ray of moonlight.
But what if she takes too long during camp and passes the deadline?
What if Ochako ends up taking advantage of whatever mood she might miss out on?
What if they end up in a relationship by the time camp ends and Kyouka is left all alone?
Will 8 years of loving Izuku go down the drain because of this one girl and her own cowardice?
Perhaps some practice can help give her an idea of how to properly confess to him.
Confused, she cleared her throat and began to rehearse possible confessions while looking at a framed picture of her and Izuku that was on her desk.
"Can we be more than friends, Izuku?"
"I kind of like you, Izuku."
"Izuku, I love you."
"I've always loved you, Izuku."
"Will you be my boyfriend, Izuku?"
"Izuku Midoriya. I, Kyouka Jirou, am in love with you."
"Please love me, Izuku."
"You. Me. Date."
"Let us form an intimate relationship."
"Izuku, I've been watching you for years even since we were little kids and I've always loved yo-Nope."
"I'd be honored to sign a lovers contract with you."
"We'll be good together like bread and butter."
"Will you be my personal hero?"
"I loveth thee."
"Let's get hitched right this instant!"
"Take me, Izuku~!"
After she shouted that out loud, she heard her mom call out her name, and she slapped her hands over her mouth.
Kyouka then dropped to her bed and put a pillow over her face to let out a frustrated scream as she kicked the air.
'WHAT DO I SAY?! WHY IS THIS SO HARD?!'
Kyouka couldn't understand why this was so difficult for her.
She has loved this boy ever since they were 8 years old. Surely, she should have some idea of how to confess to him.
But nothing. Absolutely nothing.
It was always about finding the right moment for her and speaking from her heart at the moment, but that moment just hasn't come yet.
Or maybe the moment has already happened many times before, and she missed all of them. What if she missed her last available moment? Will everything be over if that were the case?
Another thing that scared her was the possibility of rejection.
Kyouka realized she could've asked Izuku to go out with her back in their early days in middle school when his self-esteem was at its lowest, but she felt like that would be taking advantage of him.
When she confesses, she wants him to accept out of his own heart instead out of desperation. That isn't the kind of relationship she wants to be in.
It has to be genuine or else it isn't real.
"You know what? I'll know what to say when the time comes. I won't force out a random confession, but I'll promise myself that this confession will come during camp." Kyouka raised her fist to the ceiling, looking at her purple shining ring, focusing on the green music note. "Izuku, soon you will know what's in my heart. I'll quit keeping all these feelings inside of me."
The young girl brought her fist to her face and planted a gentle kiss on her ring.
'Your heart will be mine, Izuku Midoriya.'
The Next Day
Class 1-A were gathered in front of the bus, everyone looking ready and excited for their trip to camp.
However, one student in particular, looked like he could barely stand as he leaned against the bus.
Kyouka twirled around her earphone jack, letting out a sigh as she narrowed her eyes at her hero. "If you end up sleeping here, you might get left behind, you know."
Izuku yawned as he straightened his body and tried moving slightly away from the bus, scratching the back of his head. "Right…Sorry, I'm super tired right now. All Might invited me over to the beach late at night for some training and…I only got like an hour of sleep." The boy yawned again. "…But the silver lining is…" He let out another yawn. "…I think I made some significant improvements in firing some air blasts along with my kicks."
Kyouka crossed her arms, gently pressing her earphone jack against his forehead. "Do I have to leave right now and remind All Might that he should treat your sleep schedule more delicately? Cause it sounds like I do."
Internally, she cursed herself for having taken off her choker late at night and not checking her app. She would've been able to tell that Izuku's heartbeat was rising to high levels so late, then track him to the beach so she could put an early stop to their training and force Izuku to go to bed.
'I haven't talked directly to or even approached All Might in a couple of months, but now might seem like an appropriate occasion. I may be a tad grateful that he's actually training Izuku personally, but it doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants.'
Izuku shook his head, stifling a yawn. "…No, it wasn't his fault. We stopped training at 1 in the morning and he insisted I go home to sleep, but I chose to stay a few extra hours. I got way too into training that I didn't even notice the…" He let out a yawn. "…Time."
Kyouka facepalmed, running her hands down her face. "Izuku, what do I keep telling you?"
"…Always keep my health in check, and that includes sleeping."
"That's right. You've been doing so good lately, so why did you feel the need to push yourself last night?"
"Don't know…" Izuku's eyes fluttered, threatening to close before he used his fingers to stretch his eyelids open a little. "It just felt necessary to me that night. I won't do it again."
"Do you swear? Because to be brutally honest, I hate when you do that."
Izuku smiled at her and held his necklace with his left hand before slightly raising his right hand. "I, Izuku Midoriya, swear that I will not make myself lose unnecessary amounts of sleep. Unless given expression permission from Kyouka Jirou."
Kyouka deadpanned at him. "I'm happy you swore to me, but did you have to include that last part? It's not like I have any plans on giving you permission for that."
"Nothing wrong with wanting to ask once in a while just in case." Izuku rubbed the back of his neck. "But…with how I feel now, I think I might just stop with these all-nighters. I'm starting to regret them."
"Starting?"
"…"
"…"
"…"
The silence between them was abruptly broken up by Izuku letting out a drawn-out yawn.
"You seriously need a nap on the bus." Kyouka facepalmed before looking at her phone to check out the time. "Thankfully, we should be heading out soon."
Izuku yawned. "That's a relief…I'll take any minute of shut-eye I can get right now."
Kyouka heard multiple pairs of footsteps getting closer, so she looked behind Izuku and saw Class 1-B approaching with Monoma right in front, which gave her a face of disgust and concern.
Even one peep from that asswhipe might give her hero a headache with how tired he is. There's no way she's letting that happen.
Gotta keep him safe.
"In the bus now, Izuku. Take your nap early."
"Huh? But shouldn't I wait until everyone else gets on?"
"Go!" Kyouka shoved him toward the open doors of the vehicle.
He let out a tired groan, but didn't say anything else as he obeyed and dragged his body into the bus, sitting down and falling asleep instantaneously.
Monoma took a huge step forward, running his hand through his hair. "Aw, look at Class 1-A, acting like they don't have failures in their class! I heard from a little birdie that Midoriya and Bakugo failed!"
Kyouka's eye twitched, using her earphone jack to catch Itsuka's hand from chopping his neck.
"Aren't they supposed to be the strongest in your class?! If they failed, then what hope do any of you have?! Where is Midoriya, anyway? I bet he's hiding somewhere, ashamed of his fail-"
"Monoma…" Kyouka stepped in front of Monoma's line of sight, making the boy's mouth shut in an instant.
Setsuna smirked. "Holy crap, I don't think Kendo has ever made Monoma shut up like that before."
"Terrifying." Reiko said, her attention completely captured by Kyouka.
Juzo nodded. "You said it. Yo, we should bring her over to our class to shut him up whenever he goes on one of his rants."
"Now, I think my hearing might be a little off because I could've sworn that I heard you bad-mouthing Izuku, and you wouldn't do that after the guidelines you were provided with the last time we spoke, right?" Kyouka's earphone jacks slowly rose, a shadow casting over her eyes. "I thought you were aware of what'll happen to you if any of those guidelines were broken…Or were you not? Because I could always remind you."
A sinister smile crept on her face as she slowly walked over to Monoma, the boy's entire body trembling.
Memories of what happened to him the last time the two of them were alone flashed in his mind. 'I never want to experience that kind of suffering again!'
Monoma frantically shook his head. "I-I did not say anything about Midoriya! I was only insulting Bakugo and how much of an imbecile he is!"
Kyouka crossed her arms, smirking. "Good boy. I'll let you off easy this time. Remember to keep those guidelines in mind." Her earphone jacks were pointed at his eyes. "And don't think you can break them when I'm not around…I could always be listening even when you least expect it."
Monoma nodded before retreating back into his classmates, standing behind all of them.
Itsuka let out a whistle, glancing back at Monoma before looking at Kyouka. "So, what did you do to him? I've been meaning to ask and Monoma never talks about it."
Kyouka patted Itsuka's shoulder. "Best that you don't know. Trust me."
"I know that I'm okay with you teaching him a lesson here and there, but don't go overboard, okay? He's still my classmate, and I'd appreciate it if he was mentally stabl-" She paused for a moment, remembering who exactly Monoma is. "Not mentally broken by the end of the year." Itsuka narrowed her eyes at Kyouka, but she noticed that Kyouka was closely studying her, looking up and down her body. "Is something the matter?"
"Hm, you're the exact same height as Izuku…How about that." Kyouka cocked an eyebrow.
Itsuka sweatdropped. "Were you not listening to what I was saying?"
"Say what?" Kyouka snapped back to reality, making eye contact with Itsuka.
"Just…Just don't go overboard with Monoma. Understand?"
"Yeah, yeah, I got it." Kyouka mumbled. "But you try to keep that guy on a tight leash if you don't want him in danger."
Kyouka then walked away from Itsuka, starting to talk to Momo and Tokoyami. Itsuka placed her hand on her face, letting out a quiet groan. "I mean, she has a point about Monoma needing to be held back, but I don't know if I'd say to keep him on a leash. He's not a dog. Then again…"
Out of nowhere, Sero stepped in front of Itsuka. "Good luck trying to make her do something. From my experience, Jirou can almost do whatever she wants."
Itsuka slightly jumped but kept her composure. "You let her walk all over you?"
"It's either that or suffer a fate worse than being in Hell itself." Sero said nonchalantly.
Itsuka was taken aback by this statement. "How can you be so casual about that?"
"Because, uh…" Sero tried to think of a logical explanation, but he fell short, his expression turning hopeless. "Oh my god, what's happened to me? Have I lost all my dignity?"
Sero began to mutter to himself, recalling all his encounters with Kyouka ever since his first day at U.A while Itsuka took a step back. "I'll let you handle those issues on your own right now. But maybe seek therapy."
Momo then rang a cowbell, smiling at her classmates. "It's time for us to enter the bus, everyone! Please pick your seat in a calm manner and by special request from a certain student, Bakugo must stay as far away from Midoriya as possible!"
Katsuki flipped off Momo. "Oh, screw you!"
Itsuka smiled at Momo before turning to her classmates. "You heard her, guys. One or two of you please go get Monoma from his hiding place and bring him into the bus."
While Ibara and Juzo pried Monoma from the bush, loud chatter was heard from inside 1-A's bus.
"Bakugo, what do you think you're doing sitting next to Izuku?!"
"I'm not letting anyone tell me where I can't sit, Earlobes! I'd rather sit next to this nerd than obey you!"
"Aizawa, can you have him moved?"
"Zzzz…"
"...Momo?"
"I'm afraid I can't do that. Kyouka. Let us sit behind them, and you can keep watch over Midoriya from there."
"What are you so worried about, Jirou? Think Bakugo is gonna prank Midoriya while he's asleep? I don't think he'd stoop so low to get him while he's sleeping. That kind of move would not be very manly."
"Wouldn't put him past it."
"May I ask all of you to keep it down in here? I wish to get my beauty sleep."
"Sure Aoyama, but where did you get that sleeping bag and oil diffuser?"
"No questions, Todoroki. Let me sleep now…"
"Ugh, you better not try anything Bakugo. I got my eyes on you."
"What, you some kind of freak stalker? Tch, not like I care."
"Who're you calling stalker?!"
The entire bus greatly rattled with that last shout as Reiko sweatdropped, tilting her head. "That bus sounds like a scary place to be. I kinda like it."
"Is it me or was Jirou way too defensive about being called a stalker?" Awase looked at his classmates, but no one seemed to take notice. But what he didn't notice was that Yui gave a small nod.
Itsuka had her enlarged hand wrapped around Monoma as she let out a nervous laugh. "I sincerely hope this camp doesn't get too bizarre with those guys around."
The sun was starting to set upon the forested mountain, a gentle orange glow showering over the land.
The entirety of Class 1-A stumbled out of the forest, everyone covered in dirt, twigs, and leaves.
They had just finished fighting through multiple of these Earth Beasts after being thrown into the forest, fighting for almost 8 hours straight.
Kyouka was leaning against Izuku, grabbing onto his arm so she wouldn't fall over. She may not have fought as much compared to some of her classmates, but it was a pain to keep running forward and crouching down constantly in order to properly listen to where those beasts were.
She tried to deal with one of those beasts herself when one charged at her, but the best she could manage was blowing off a few pieces of its body with her earphone jacks.
When she was about to be attacked, Tenya kicked its head off before Momo blew it away with a cannon.
Admittedly, she was a little disappointed in herself that she couldn't handle one of those monsters on her own, but it's not like her quirk is the best suited for combat anyway.
"It's strange …Fighting those beasts woke me up entirely, but at the same time, I feel exhausted more than ever before…" Izuku groaned out as he limped forward. "Is this karma from staying up all night?"
Kyouka almost fell over, but she tightened her hold on her hero. "It's possible, but I doubt karma makes everyone suffer for a lack of sleep."
If this was any other situation, either one of these lovestruck teens would be flustered by how much she was holding onto him, but they were both way too tired to think about that.
Aoyama fell to the ground, his hands over his gut. "My poor tummy…" A bird landed on his head as Kirishima and Tenya helped him get up, supporting his arms. "I give my thanks…"
"You'll feel better soon, man." Kirishima grinned tiredly at him as his stomach growled loudly.
Tenya nodded, his stomach growling as well. "Indeed. A nice meal will put us right back into shape."
Ahead of all the students was the lodge they would be staying at and in front of the lodge, Aizawa, and two members of the Wild, Wild Pussycats, Mandalay and Pixie-Bob, were waiting for them. The latter is the one who created those damned beasts and threw everyone into the forest.
"I'm never going to camp again! Hell, I'm never going outside again!" Sato swore, dropping to his knees and punching the ground.
"Weren't we supposed to only be there for only about 3 hours?" Shoto asked, stopping for a breather with his hands on his knees.
"It woulda been faster if you all weaklings didn't hold me back." Katsuki scoffed, trying to hide his panting as he had a grip on his own arm, feeling pain course through it.
"You be quiet, Bakugo! Not all of us were born with super awesome quirks!" Mineta shouted.
Mandalay giggled. "Oops. Looks like we based the time off of how long it would take us. Our bad."
"So mean!" Mina whined.
Momo sighed; wiping sweat off her forehead. "So, what I'm hearing is that the twenty of us don't equal even half of a pro. Fantastic news…"
Pixie-Bob stepped forward, smiling at the students.
"Meow, meow, meow! Don't worry, you all did much better than I expected! I was expecting at least one or two of you to come back with a broken limb! But you all wowed me! Especially you four!" She pointed at Izuku, Katsuki, Shoto, and Tenya. "I can tell you're all experienced in physical activities…" The hero licked her lips before leaping at the boys. "I can't wait to-"
Before Pixie-Bob said anything else or could make contact, two earphone jacks got jammed into her ears, sending her crashing onto the ground.
"Meeeooow…" Pixie-Bob laid on the ground, her body twitching from the pain in her ears.
"You totally deserved that." Mandalay crossed her arms. "With what you probably had in mind, I think it was best that you were stopped."
Aizawa sweatdropped, facepalming. "Normally, I would scold Jirou for attacking another Pro Hero, but it felt warranted this time around…But what she's trying to do now might be a little overkill."
Kyouka's teeth grinded together as she tried to walk over to Pixie-Bob to stomp on the woman's body, but was held back by Izuku and Tenya. "Let go of me. I just wanna talk to her."
'Trying to directly steal Izuku from right under my nose when I'm planning on confessing this week?! Yeah, right! A broken jaw won't make you look so pretty, you hag!'
"Jirou, we all appreciate you defending our honor and chastities, but there is no need to hurt her!" Tenya pleaded, struggling to hold her back.
Izuku nodded, using whatever remaining strength he had left to make sure his best friend didn't cause too much trouble. "Kyouka, I will treat you to something from a vending machine the next time we see one!"
And just like that, Kyouka stopped her advances and let out a huff before nodding in agreement. "Fine."
Izuku and Tenya sighed in relief before Izuku looked at Mandalay and noticed a small boy right beside her, pointing at him. "Hey, what's that kid doing here? Who is he?"
"Oh, he's my nephew and he lives here with us." Mandalay introduced the boy, gesturing her hand toward him. "Kota, be nice and say hi to everyone. We'll be with them for the next week so learn to get acquainted with them."
Izuku walked over to Kota, giving the child a friendly smile and holding out a hand. "Hello. My name's Izuku Midoriya from U.A's hero course. Nice to meetcha."
Kota quickly threw a punch aimed right for Izuku's crotch, but before it could make contact, he felt a hand grab onto his wrist. The boy then looked up to see a demonic purple-haired girl glaring down at him.
"What do you think you're doing?" Kyouka asked the little brat as she kept a tight grip on his wrist, some leftover adrenaline from taking care of Pixie-Bob still flowing through her body.
Kota only looked up at her with a cold glare of his own that pierced into her eyes. Getting this kind of look from such a small child might've stunned anyone else and freaked them out, but Kyouka had her own response in mind.
"Have some manners, brat." Kyouka chopped the top of Kota's head, right down the middle of his hat, crumpling it. The chop didn't have much strength put into it, but it was enough to sting.
"Ow!" Kota held his hands over his head.
"I let you off easy cause you're a kid, but don't think that you can try something like that again." Kyouka warned before her eyes closed and she began to fall backward, all of her energy leaving her body all at once.
'No harm is coming to Izuku's family jewels under my watch…'
She almost hit the ground until Izuku caught her and looked over at Mandalay. "Sorry for the trouble."
Mandalay shook her head. "It's fine. I'm glad that you weren't harmed, and I feel guilty that I didn't do anything to stop him myself."
Izuku then turned to Kota, a smile still on his face. "I hope we can get along eventually."
Kota scoffed, walking away as he kept his hands on his head. "Whatever. I don't want to make friends with some wannabe heroes. Especially those that are willing to hurt a child."
Izuku's smile faded away, not quite satisfied by that response. "I get the feeling he doesn't like us…"
A small smile cracked onto Katsuki's face. "I dig that kid's style."
"You would like a bratty kid like yourself..." Kyouka weakly uttered out with a smirk as Katsuki started to shout obscenities at her which she thankfully managed to tune out.
'If only I could go back in time and give Bakugo a hard smack or two to the head when he was a child. Could teach that little brat some lessons and make him pay for his past and future actions…Hell yeah, beating up child Bakugo…' With that last thought, Kyouka fell unconscious in Izuku's arms with a pleasant smile on her face.
Kaminari looked in the distance and held up a finger. "We here at U.A do not condone child violence. We do, however, find it hilarious."
Sero lightly smacked the back of his head. "Who are you speaking to?"
Kyouka, Ochako, and Mina were sitting in a circle and playing a game of Uno in a room right beside where the other girls were sleeping.
This single round has been going on for over 50 minutes, but it looked like it was going to end any minute now with Kyouka having two cards left, Ochako having two, and Mina having one.
"Hehe! I win!" Mina was ready to slam down her last card until she was face to face with Kyouka's earphone jack.
"Someone didn't call Uno. Victory denied." Kyouka stated with a smug face. "Draw two cards."
"Gah! That rule is so crazy stupid! It should be hit with the ban hammer!" Mina shouted in frustration before getting shushed by Kyouka and Ochako.
"We don't wanna wake up the entire camp, Ashido." Ochako put down her second to last card. "Uno."
"And I'd rather not deal with Mr. Aizawa throwing us into the forest in the middle of the night as punishment." Kyouka glanced at Mina begrudgingly drawing her cards before putting down her second to last card as well. "Uno."
Mina stuck out her tongue at them. "I know, jeez. But I hope I screw both you guys over with this." A Cheshire grin formed on her face before she put down a Wild Card. "Hope none of ya got a green card."
Even after the color changed to green, both Kyouka and Ochako kept their poker faces on. Now it was Ochako's turn to play, but before she could even act, a door to their room slid open.
The girls turned toward the sound to see Itsuka, Ibara, Reiko, Setsuna, and Yui walking in.
Itsuka waved at them with a wide smile on her face. "Hey guys, I hope we aren't interrupting anything."
Before Kyouka or Ochako could respond, Mina swiped their respective cards and shuffled them back into the deck with a mischievous look on her face. "Not at all. Too bad our game ended in a draw though."
"Sore loser." Kyouka grumbled, shooting a glare at the pink girl.
"Too bad. I was excited for an epic battle to the death between me and Jirou." Ochako sighed before looking at the 1-B girls. "So, what are you all doing here?"
"We couldn't really sleep so we decided to walk around the place for the fun of it." Setsuna chimed in. "Camp is hella boring right now."
"Says you. I bet you guys didn't have to fight through a hoard of dirt monsters for so many hours." Kyouka said, pouting.
"I wish you were right about that." Itsuka stretched her arms, remembering her class's experience in the forest. "We were on the other side of the forest and had to deal with our own set of dirt monsters after Tiger smacked all of us into the forest. It seems that Pixie-Bob was working on two classes at once. It's impressive how she can multitask like that in such a large area. But we didn't get back until like half an hour after you guys. You can bet that Monoma was real butthurt about that."
"Anal is more like it." Setsuna raised her hand for a high five, in which Itsuka shook her head along with the other three girls, making her frown. "Lame."
"Where are the other girls in your class?" Mina asked. "I thought there were more of you."
"Komori and Pony were too exhausted to keep going, so we sent them to bed. What about you guys? I notice Yaomomo isn't here along with the other two." Itsuka cocked an eyebrow.
"It was the same for them." Ochako said before noticing Reiko looking around the room, paying extra attention to the corners. "Yanagi? Do you see something?"
"I was hoping to come across any ghosts in the room." Reiko stated, making Kyouka slightly jump. "I did some research on this place and found that this land used to contain a small village thousands of years ago before all of its inhabitants were massacred and their homes were burned to the ground with no remains left. It might be possible that the spirits of those inhabitants wander this land, seeking vengeance on the ancestors of the ones who wronged them."
Ibara placed her hand on her chest, sighing. "And I'm making sure she does not disturb any of the peaceful souls residing in this land."
"Th-That's silly. You should know that ghosts don't exist." Kyouka stammered, beads of sweat forming on her face. "U-Uraraka, Ashido, you agree with me, right?"
As she turned to face her classmates, she was face to face with Yui who was crouching down at her level.
Kyouka stayed silent for a few moments, the two girls blinking at each other, a deathly silence between them.
The silence was killed by Kyouka letting out a high-pitched scream and stabbing both of Yui's eyes with her earphone jacks. "H-How did you get there?!"
Yui turned toward Setsuna, and gave her a thumbs up, completely unfazed by the earphone jacks jammed into her eyeballs. "Like that?"
Setsuna broke down into laughter, slapping her knee. "That was freaking gold, Yui! You might've made Jirou piss herself!"
"I did not!" Kyouka exclaimed, her entire face and ears being bright red.
Ochako and Mina started to shush the two loud girls and Setsuna tried to stifle her laughter, putting her hand over her mouth as tears welled up in her eyes. "Oh god…My bad…Whoo…That was so much more hilarious than I could've expected." She then glanced at Kyouka's pants for a second before giving a thumbs up. "Congrats. Your pants look to be dry and clean in my eyes. I'd be embarrassed for you if you made a mess of yourself in front of everyone."
"You're not bringing back that stupid bladder rumor, are you?" Kyouka asked with a low tone, her earphone jacks slowly rising. "Because I have no qualms about that rumor coming back from Hell, so I can shove it back in with as much brutality as I did before."
"Is this a bad time to say that's what she said?" Setsuna whispered to Reiko, earning her a nod. "Got it."
Setsuna was then met with two earphone jacks pointed right at her face with Kyouka looking very unamused. "I heard that. So do I have to teach you a lesson like I did with Monoma? Because there's no way I'm dealing with being known as the infamous overactive bladder at U.A again."
"Whoa cool it, I'm not like Monoma. I just wanted to have some fun and it's not like you were our main target. I just told Yui to go for whoever looked the most distracted. You were simply an unfortunate victim." Setsuna waved her wands in defense.
Kyouka retracted her earphone jacks before widening her eyes in the realization of the noise they had just made. "We didn't wake anyone up, right?" She plugged her earphone jack into the floor, checking if anyone had woken up or not. The only person who seemed to wake up was Vlad King who only let out a few grumbles before falling back to sleep, making the girl sigh in relief. "We're in the clear."
"Phew, I was scared your teacher was gonna come in and put us through hell." Setsuna sat down beside Kyouka. The other girls sat down as well with Yui staying by Kyouka's other side.
"Is he as scary as we all hear?" Reiko asked, her eyebrows raised in interest.
"The reality might be worse than the rumors." Mina grimaced, pulling her knees to her chest. "The horrors we've witnessed…"
"Can we not speak ill about an instructor who does his best to train aspiring heroes? It's an awfully disrespectful act to commit." Ibara asked with a small frown on her face. "In fact, we should all go up to our respective instructors and give them thanks for providing us the wonderful opportunity to train at this beautiful camp."
"Give them thanks?" Ochako looked confused by that suggestion. "To be honest, I think Mr. Aizawa would be weirded out by such a nice gesture. Not offended, but weirded out."
"That man needs to take a chill pill once in a while. You think he'd chill out if he got laid? He might accept a thank you then." Mina stated, making everyone's faces go red, except for Setsuna and Yui. No one could believe that she said that so casually without a hint of hesitation.
Ibara let out a gasp, holding her hand over our mouth. "H-How dare you speak of something so impure, regarding our instructor. Suggesting that he needs to copulate with someone in order to 'chill out' is something deserving of repentance. Besides, from what I'm aware of, Mr. Aizawa isn't married, so he wouldn't be able to have any type of copulation anytime soon."
"…"
"…"
"…"
"…"
"…"
"…"
"…"
"What is it? Is Mr. Aizawa married after all?"
Mina patted Ibara's back. "Oh, you adorable, angelic soul. Maybe we should be calling you Angelbeat instead. What do you think, Jirou?"
"No."
"C'mon, it would kinda fu-"
"No."
"Ugh, fine."
"Angelbeat? Is that your hero name, Jirou?" Ibara asked, staring intently at Kyouka.
"It is. What's it to you?"
"I pray that you commit only the most righteous acts of heroism when you don that name." Ibara clasped her hands together.
"Of course…" Kyouka looked to the side, avoiding as much eye contact as possible, not wanting to make things awkward. "I rescued a cat one time, if that helps."
"That's wonderful to hear. You're on the virtuous path already." Ibara gave an angelic smile of approval.
"Changing the subject, what are your guys' hero names?" Kyouka quickly looked at the other 1-B girls.
"I am called Maria."
"Emily here."
"Call me Lizardy."
"Rule."
"The name's Battle Fist."
"I'm Uravity."
"Pinky! Wow, I totes love all our names!" Mina explained before getting shushed by all the girls. "Oopsie. But it's so nice to finally be relaxed after going through so much today."
"I don't know. The hot springs from earlier relieved all of my tense muscles and the cramps in my hands." Reiko leaned back, closing her eyes to relive the hot springs. "I felt like my body melted into those waters."
"Very relaxing." Yui smiled.
"On that note, did anything happen during your time at the hot springs?" Ochako asked.
Itsuka shook her head. "Other than Monoma's rants about your class disturbing everyone's peace, nothing happened. Why are you asking?"
"We heard some crazy racket on the boy's side. Dekiru and Mineta seemed to have some kind of argument that was followed by a heated battle that lasted longer than you would expect coming from Mineta." Ochako explained, clashing her hands together multiple times to represent an exaggerated battle between Izuku and Mineta while making action sound effects with her mouth.
This continued on for about a minute until everyone realized that Ochako was too absorbed in her action fantasy and Kyouka cleared her throat. "It then ended with that Kota kid falling down onto the boy's side from how much their fight shook the wall, but Izuku caught him right on time. But if you ask me, that kid could use a bump to the head to get set straight." She twirled around her earphone jack. "Like in that one anime where this baby is a complete murderous psychopath, but he falls off a cliff and hits his head, becoming a kind person. Granted, he became really stupid, but still a kind person nonetheless."
"That wasn't canon. His backstory got retconned in the manga." Setsuna stated with a proud smile.
"...Thank you, Tokage." Kyouka rolled her eyes, dismissing Setsuna's statement. "Anyway, that kid needs to learn some manners, and quick. Because trust me when I say that kids who are assholes when they're kids, stay like that when they grow up. It's a simple fact."
Her mind went over to Katsuki, remembering how ever since she first met him when she was 8 years old, he's been nothing but horrible to the people around him, especially Izuku. There's no fixing a guy like him in a million years unless he either gets amnesia or is brainwashed. A girl can dream.
"That isn't true, Jirou. People can change at any point in their lives. Whether they're a child, a teenager, or a full-grown adult. Not a single person is completely incapable of change." Itsuka argued, not believing in Kyouka's black and white view.
"Hey, I know people can change. You can get more confident or shy as you grow older. Your personal interests can change and you can change your life goals. And I understand that villains can even be rehabilitated and turn their life around. It's not something that often happens, but it happens. But I'm not talking about whether someone becomes a hero or a villain. Your character is still pretty much the same, just aligned with the right side of the law."
Itsuka crossed her arms. "People change all the time, and that especially includes their character. I'm confident that at least a couple of us in this room might have changed since we were children."
"Oh yeah? Let's test that theory of yours. Has anyone's character fundamentally changed since they were a kid?" Kyouka asked, looking at everyone else. "Anyone?"
All the girls stayed quiet at this question, not sure how to respond until Reiko slightly raised her hand. "As a child, I thought jump scares were clever techniques in horror cinema before realizing that they are mostly used as cheap tricks to get easy scares out of viewers."
"There you have it." Kyouka looked back at Itsuka. "Any rebuttals?"
Itsuka grit her teeth, but she relaxed herself and gestured her hand toward a few of the girls. "Well, what need is there to change about us? I don't think any of us are overly flawed." Another argument popped into her head. "There's Monoma too. I doubt he was always this bratty about rival classes, and I'm sure that once we all graduate, he'll completely let go of his grudge against your class."
"Like I said, personal interests can change, but I bet he was bratty about classes in elementary that performed better than his class and I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he held a grudge over every single Pro Hero that's ranked higher than he is. Because that's just the kind of person he is. See me in 4 years and confirm that I'm correct." A cocky smirk formed on Kyouka's face.
"Look, I accept that my confidence was misguided when I thought some of us in this room had changed, but I still haven't changed my mind. No matter how horrible someone may be as a child, as a teenager, or as an adult, there is plenty of room for them to grow as a person and possibly become better than some of those around them. However…it's not like I can change your opinion on this since you seem to be so adamant about that belief." Itsuka held her hand to Kyouka. "So, agree to disagree, okay?"
Kyouka looked at Itsuka's hand for a few seconds before shaking it. "Okay."
But secretly, both girls were looking forward to proving the other one wrong one day. It would be a satisfying victory.
"Hmm, what can we talk about now?" Mina tapped her chin before snapping her fingers. "How about romance? Jirou, Uraraka, you two start!"
Mina pointed at her two classmates, but their spots were now vacant, and she heard the door leading to where everyone else was sleeping open and close. Those two girls didn't give Mina a chance to utter out another word before things got awkward.
"Weird. Why did those two dip out so fast?" Setsuna rested her face on her palm. "They got some sort of romantic drama between them?"
Mina appeared right beside Setsuna, resting her arm on the other girl's shoulder. "Ooh, I have so much to tell ya. You ready for a spicy story?"
"As much as I'd love to hear gossip about two of our fellow students, I think it's time I turn in." Itsuka stood up and looked at her classmates. "Any you coming with?"
Setsuna shook her head, keeping her attention on Mina. "Nah, I'm good. She's got me invested now."
Reiko nodded in agreement, scooting closer to Mina. "I'm the same. Jirou has piqued my interest more than anyone I've ever met and I'd like to learn more about her."
Ibara stood up, smiling softly at Itsuka. "I shall accompany you, Kendo. These three look as if they'll be speaking of abhorrent topics any second now and I want no part of it."
"Fair enough. So how about you, Yui?" Itsuka tried to look at Yui, but the girl was nowhere to be seen. But that didn't make any sense because she last saw Yui right before Ashido brought up romance. Her eyes widened in horror at the realization of where she could be. "Oh no…"
"What is it?" Mina asked, seeing that Itsuka was headed towards where her classmates were sleeping.
But before Itsuka could respond and reach her destination, a high-pitched scream was heard, the loudest scream they have ever heard.
"DON'T SLEEP NEXT TO ME, GHOST! BEGONE!"
The Next Day
The night of the second day at camp was filled with silence, the only sounds coming from a few owls and the cicadas in the forest.
Every single student in camp was completely exhausted out of their minds from the ruthless training they'd been doing since 5:30AM up until the sun was setting. Then they were forced to make their own meals, but at least the meals they made turned out well.
But at the end of the day, all anyone wanted to do was sleep and most of them got their wish when it was lights out for everyone.
Unfortunately, some students weren't so lucky. Izuku, Katsuki, Kirishima, Sato, Kaminari, Mina, Sero, Mineta, and Monoma were kept up by Aizawa and Vlad King until 2:00AM.
Those students were still dressed in their gym uniforms, way too exhausted to change. Izuku was currently sprawled out across his futon, sound asleep with some drool trickling down his open mouth.
The muscles in his body started to switch, his body tossing and turning. This continued on for a few minutes until his body shot up and the doors that led to the outdoors were busted down, and sent flying outside.
Izuku was now sitting up, his breathing heavy as he stared at his right arm, starting to tightly grab onto it. He could see the energy of One For All coursing through his arm before it faded away moments later.
The futon he was sleeping on was in complete tatters too. He looked around to see if he accidentally hurt anyone or not, but everyone looked fine other than seeing a lot of them starting to wake up.
'I'm sorry, everyone, but I can't focus on you all right now. I have to focus on that dream…'
Usually, when he has dreams, he would only be able to remember bits and pieces of it with blurred details, but he could recall this dream so vividly without a single detail blurred in his mind.
It started when he found himself right next to this beautiful woman with a fierce expression on her face. And going beyond her were people he didn't recognize, but he remembered seeing these figures back at the Sports Festival.
These are the vestiges of One For All and they were a lot clearer than they were before. Except there were two figures that were still very blurred.
However, he wasn't able to talk and could only move his right hand while the rest of his body was enveloped in this weird-looking black mass of energy.
Then they all vanished, and there were two men in front of him now, both with white hair. From how they spoke to each other, they were brothers.
He didn't recognize either of the voices, but if he had to make a guess based on what he's been told by All Might and the fact that the dream was most likely caused by One For All, the two men were All For One and the first user of One For All.
It had to be some kind of memory from the first user, but why was it being shown to him?
At least now he had an idea of how All For One sounds, assuming his voice is still the same after all these years. Too bad he didn't have his phone on him in the dream to record the voice.
Yeah, like that would work…
Moving on, the two brothers seemed to be having an intense argument, the first user telling All For One that he was abusing his power.
But All For One refuted this by presenting two men, one quirkless and the other having a mutant quirk. Both of the men wanted that to change. So All For One took the quirk of one man and gave a quirk to the other, both now happy with their situation and pledging loyalty to him.
The first user angrily charged at his brother but was stopped by this bodyguard. However, All For One doesn't harm his younger brother, claiming that he still loves him, despite not having a quirk.
The scene changed to a dystopian setting of quirkless people and people with quirks being against each other until All For One unified them under his rule.
The scene changed once again to the first user, who was imprisoned in this dark room until All For One came in, resulting in another argument between the two.
The memory ended with All For One forcing a quirk onto his younger brother.
Everything around him went white until the first user appeared in front of him, walking closer, reaching for his hand. But behind the first user, the rest of the users were reaching out as well.
He apparently could've been shown more, but he can only use 20% of One For All. He was then told that they were long past the singularity point and that he wasn't alone.
When both of their hands finally touched, he was abruptly woken up and here he is now, having no clue what that dream could have meant and trying to wrap his head around it.
"What was th-"
A pillow suddenly hit his face and as it slid down, he saw Katsuki holding another pillow, ready to throw it. "Go get Ponytail to make us new doors or fix 'em yourself, moron! Mosquitoes are starting to get in!"
Izuku opened his mouth to say something, but a pillow hit his face again. "At least let me give you an answer first!"
Izuku threw a pillow at Katsuki, but it missed and hit Sero instead.
"Why me?!" Sero threw a pillow back, but he hit Tokoyami.
"I have no interest in this. I'm still sleepy." Tokoyami groaned and closed his eyes, but Dark Shadow came out and threw pillows at both Kaminari and Shoji.
It all turned into a chain reaction of every boy getting hit at least once, and the entire room became a war zone.
Shoto looked side to side, seeing pillows fly by him and two pillows then hitting both sides of his head, sandwiching him before he yawned. "Is it too much to ask for a nice, peaceful good night's sleep? I don't believe I'm asking for much."
"How is your hair so perfect after waking up and getting hit like that?" Kirishima asked before a pillow hit his gut.
Shoto cupped his chin to think of a possible answer. "Genetics?"
"Idiots! The door!" Katsuki used an explosion to throw another pillow at Izuku, but Izuku ducked at the last second as the door to the room opened behind him, revealing Aizawa.
"What's all the commotion abou-" A pillow hit Aizawa directly in the face, the force of it making the man stumble back a few steps before he steadied himself.
The entire room was dead silent as they watched the man slowly pry the pillow off of his face and were met with red glowing eyes staring into every one of their souls.
"All you boys, outside. You're all starting your training 1 hour early. You seem to have enough energy coursing through your bodies." Aizawa tossed the pillow to the side.
"But we only got 2 hours of sleep and it's 4 in the mornin'." Kaminari whined, gesturing toward his fellow exam failures. "Cut us some slack."
"Let us sleep for 1 more hour at least." Kirishima threw his head back onto a pillow, but his head was caught by a scarf before it could land on the soft surface.
"Don't make me repeat myself."
All the boys ended up being wrapped up in his scarf and were dragged out of the broken doors, looking like captured wild animals.
Almost all the boys complained, not wanting to start their training just yet, while Tenya rationalized this action. "Excellent thinking, Mr. Aizawa! It is never too early to start training your body!"
Now the ones who were whining, turned on Tenya, giving him a mouthful, but Izuku stayed silent the entire time, his mind going back to his dream.
'I have to talk to All Might about this, the first chance I get. Whatever I witnessed has to be important and he must know something about it all. After all, he's seen those vestiges once before.'
A/N
Chapter 59 is done! Next chapter we finally reach 60, which I'm excited for because the 60s will contain certain chapters I've been really waiting to write for many months now.
I will admit that the next chapter might take quite a while because before I even start writing it, I'd like to properly plan out the entire arc instead of winging it like I usually do. But who knows, maybe I'll be lucky and take less than a month. We'll see what happens.
Also, I was going to include the training portion of camp in this chapter, but it ultimately felt unnecessary to me. Plus, I have plans to include bits of it in the next chapter.
I didn't show anything regarding Kota's past and his hiding spot either, but you guys pretty much know the gist of it so yeah.
Now for the reviews!
TOPCAT-59: Never trust anyone who seems too nice for their own good. Never.
Ability King KK: I have ideas for All Might's first interaction with the parents. And thankfully, Izuku's family jewels are safe. For now...
WendyMarvel12: Marriage might still be a little too soon for them even if Kyouka might disagree.
Cyber-RK18: I plan to keep the camp arc simple and get to the action fairly soon. But I at least had Uno.
Bucio: Trust me when I say that I'm excited about one specific change that'll occur over the summer. I think others may like it as well. Hope you'll be included in that group.
Reviews are all done!
That's the end of this chapter! Feel free to leave a review!
