Author's Note: I'm so sorry about the long wait for the next chapter. I had things come up over the past few weeks and school just started for me three weeks ago so I'm going to be pretty busy for awhile. I have to start hitting the books seriously this year, since next year I'll be a senior in high-school. I'm going to be also editing the first eight chapters, so you can hopefully expect better chapters in the next few months. I am going to try to post a new chapter or two when I don't have to watch my brothers or do homework. I would also like to thank Bunny. W. K. for your advice,I really appreciate your advice, I was so happy that one of my favorite fanfiction authors reviewed my story. Also I need help in deciding who Kagome gets paired with, I can't choose between Kag/Leonardo or Kag/Ezio, or Ezio/Kag/Leonardo. There is a pole now up to vote! If anyone wants a different character to be paired with Kagome, feel free to tell me in a PM or a Review. Now on with the long awaited Chapter 9!

Chapter 9: Coming Home

On the way back to Monteriggioni, the two assassins riding horses back. Ezio looks at Kagome who has been silent so far on their travel back, with concern. The seventeen year old sighs and looks ahead as the horses gallop towards their destination. Ezio suddenly smirks as he thinks of a plan for Kagome to talk to him, and glances at said partner-in-crime.

"Hey, Kagome?"

Kagome who was enjoying the peace and quiet, flickers her blue-grey eyes towards him before looking forward and sighing "So much for peace and quiet…" she thinks sourly. "What now Ezio?"

"Could you tell me more about your life before you came here?" he questions, curiosity shining in his hazel eyes.

Kagome blinks twice at him, surprised at the question, "What do you want to know? I've already told you about them."

"I wish to know more about your family, your Mother and Grandfather." he answers her question.

Kagome looks away before smiling slightly, "Well, my mother was the kindest and most understanding person I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Anything I did she was one hundred percent behind me." her smile turns wistful as she remembers her mother and grandfather. "My grandpa on the other hand was very old, he was the head priest at our shrine, anyway he was always slapping sutras on things claiming that they were possessed by 'demons' as he like to say." Kagome chuckles as she remembers her grandpa slapping sutras on a certain silver-haired, amber eyed half-demon. She looks at Ezio again to see him looking at her with a small, barely noticeable smile.

"What's with the look?"

Kagome's question suddenly snapped Ezio out of his thoughts of more happier times with his family. "Nothing."

The walls of Monteriggioni come into view as the horses keep a steady gallop towards them.

Kagome suddenly sighs drawing Ezio's attention. Ezio lifts an eyebrow at the sound. "I want a bath. And I want to sleep for the next week." Ezio shakes his head amused at her before making his horse walk towards the stables. Kagome follows his lead and dismounts, handing the reins to the stable hand the came towards them.

Ezio looks at Kagome "We should go see Uncle Mario." Kagome agrees with him and the two enter the city, towards the Auditore Villa. As the two reach the steps they see Mario and his mercenaries by the training ring talking and laughing loudly, the two assassins heads towards them.

"And here they are! Our campioni, Ezio and Kagome!" Mario boasts with pride when he sees the two teens. "All hail, Ezio and Kagome!" the men cheer. Ezio smirks and says amused, "I see you wasted no time starting the celebration."

"And why not?! You two have done us a great service, nipote! With Vieri dead, la Toscana will grow quiet once more. Do you know what that means?"

"Basta lavorare!"

"Si passa tutto il giorno a bere!"

"E a puttane!"

Everyone looks at the man in confusion, while Kagome just glared at the man. The man looks at everyone before saying, "What?! It's true!" Everyone laughs except Kagome, who looks more annoyed than amused. Mario starts waking and passes Kagome and Ezio and looks over his shoulder and motions them for them to follow, "Come, Ezio, Kagome walk with me." Kagome and Ezio glance at each other, Kagome shrugs and the two follow him.

"Yes Uncle?" Ezio tells him. As they walk towards the Villa, Mario talks to the two about what earlier at San Gimignano."The Pazzi answer to another; a Spaniard." Kagome informs the Master Assassin. Mario nods his head, as he already knowing the information Kagome had given him, "He is Rodrigo Borgia, one of the most powerful men in all of Europe and leader of the Templar Order."

Ezio clenches his fists, "Which makes him responsible for the murder of my father and brothers."

"Yes and Souta's death as well. And he will kill you too, given the chance." Kagome peeks up at Mario from under her eyelashes at the mention of her little brother. Her heart clenches painfully in her chest. "Souta…."

"Then I must stand against him if I wish to be free...But not until every other Templar has fallen to my blade. Father's list will guide me." Ezio's hazel, gets a determined look in them as he looks at his uncle's back. As they walk through the doors of the Villa, Mario questions the seventeen year olds, "Where will you two go next?"

Ezio frowns in thought before answering, "Firenze. Francesco de' Pazzi will share the fate of his son." Mario nods his head in acceptance, "A sensible next step. No doubt he intends evil for the city." The Assassins stop at the bottom of the stairs and Mario turns around to face the two teens. "Alright. That's enough grim talk for one night, I'll be in my study if you need me." With that said Mario leaves the two and goes to his study.

Kagome looks at Ezio, "You should read the letter Mario gave you. It must be important." Ezio nods his head and takes out the letter, "It's addressed to Francesco de' Pazzi…Messer Francesco, I have done as requested and spoken with your son. I agree with your assessment, though only in part. Yes, Vieri is brash and prone to act without forethought." At this Kagome snorts amused. Ezio gives her an amused look before continuing, "And he has a habit of treating the mercenari like playthings. I've received reports of at least three men being disfigured as a result. But I do not think him, as you put it, beyond repair. Rather, I believe the solution to be a simple matter. He seeks your approval. Your attention. These outbursts of his are a result of insecurities born out of a sense of inadequacy. He speaks of you often and fondly and expresses a desire to be closer to you. So if he is loud and foul and angry - I believe it is simply because he wants to be noticed. He wants to be loved. Act as you see fit on the information I've given you here. But I must ask that we end this correspondence. Were he to discover the nature of our conversations, I fear what might become of in Confidence, Fra' Giocondo…"

"Well, that's interesting...anyway, you go talk to Mario. While I go see Claudia and your Mother." Kagome sniffs and wrinkles her nose, "And take a bath." Ezio nods his head and goes to his uncle's study. Kagome shakes her head before going to see Claudia. Kagome steps in front of the large desk with a raised eyebrow. "So this is what Mario has you doing?" Claudia lifts her head and pouts at the older girl. "Yes. This is what happens to when you complain you are bored around Uncle Mario." Kagome sits on the corner of the desk and takes the red ribbon out of her hair. She runs a hand through her hair, she wince when she runs through a knot.

"So, how is it being partners with Ezio?"

"It's Ezio, how do you think it is?" Kagome asks dryly. The younger girl laughs and reaches to pat her thigh in mock sympathy. Kagome chuckles and shakes her head while standing up. "I'm going to take a bath and then sleep for the next week. I swear if your brother wakes me up, I just might use my badass assassin skills on him." Claudia snorts before waving her off and going back to her work. The assassin sticks her tongue out and then quickly runs out of the room from the death glare she received from the action.

Kagome sighs loudly as she walks up the stairs. She walks into the room where Maria is praying and sits on the bed next to her. "Maria, I promised Giovanni and Federico while they were training me to keep you, Claudia and Ezio safe. I promise with my life that I will keep Ezio safe while we're hunting Templars." The teen grabs the closest hand and squeezes it, "I'll protect him, so don't have to worry." Maria places her other hand on Kagome's and squeezes her hand in a thank you. Kagome smiles softly and stands up. "I'll talk to you later Maria."

~Time Skip~

A few days later we see our two young assassin's in front of a familiar building. Kagome grins as she walks ahead of Ezio who's still looking at the building. Kagome knocks twice before opening the door and stepping inside. Leonardo is bent over his desk before he turns around to see Kagome walking towards him with Ezio closing the door.

"Kagome….? Ezio….? You are still alive!" Leonardo exclaims as he rushes to embrace his two friends, Ezio first, then Kagome who happily returns the embrace. Kagome smiles largely at the inventor, "It's good to you too, Leonardo." Ezio puts his hand on Kagome's shoulder and smiles at Leonardo."

"Look at this place! The past two years have been kind to you." Ezio grins. Leonardo looks away from Kagome to look at Ezio, "But you are not the same at all, are you...?" Ezio shakes his head slightly before putting his hand on Leonardo's shoulder. "I was hoping you might be able to help us with something."

The inventor nods his head, "Anything for you, my friends!" Kagome smiles at the inventor again.
