Legacy of Travas

Chapter 27: A familiar essence within

The room was pitch-black and the winged being could not see anything, not even within close range. But that soon began to change when the being notices a faint, blurry light beginning to appear. As it began to clear, the being examines his surroundings to see he was back in his quarters. But when he turns to the left, he notices that his green vampuric companion, Vorador, was resting on a chair nearby. However, the green vampire, too, began to awaken and look upon his now awake sire while sighing in relief.

"Janos… thank God you're alright", Vorador spoke softly while Janos looks upon himself before looking at him.

"What… what happened? And how did I end up in my chambers", Janos asked, unsure of what had happened over the past few days.

"Infernum defeated you and casted you down into a field of fire", Vorador answered. "But while Travas, Umah, and Aramantha were battling against the wolf demon, the remainder of us took you to the chambers and treated your wounds as best we could. Miraculously, however, you've managed to make a fast recovery despite you falling into a coma".

"I see…" Janos replied while looking upon his remaining injuries before looking back at Vorador again. "But how long was I unconscious, and what makes of the others at this very hour", he asked.

"You have been resting in your chambers for nearly a week", Vorador answered. "As for Travas and Umah, they're on Alopex taking care of a few matters while the others are either training or roaming around Nosgoth. However, it is time I've made contact with the others and tell them you've awakened at last", he continued, clearing his mind and closing his eyes. Thus, he began to focus onto the minds of the other vampires in Nosgoth to tell them the news they have waited eagerly and patiently for.

*Amongst the Pillars of Nosgoth*

The fields where the decaying Pillars lie seem peaceful and somewhat life giving despite the poised corruption Nosgoth had faced over the centuries. But near the Pillars, a family of three waits nearby their parked jet as the gray vulpin, Johnny, holds onto a box full of clothes while the human mother, Alexia, holds onto a guitar case. While their vulpin child, Dylan, plays in the field nearby his parents, a bright light suddenly appears as the family cover their eyes immediately. But when it dissipates, they looked upon the same spot it appeared and discover it was the vampuric couple, with their belongings attached to the hover bike, returning from the same place the family had been recently.

"Travas, welcome back to Nosgoth", Johnny greeted, setting the box of clothing down and hugging his kithood friend.

"It's great to see you guys again. And thank God you're alright and free, Johnny", Travas replied while letting go of his friend. "So what was the court claim", he asked.

"Not guilty", Johnny answered. "And I have to tell you, Travas, a lot of people in court were shocked after they found out I got married and had a kid during my expedition", he claimed while chuckling.

"And it's a good thing you weren't convicted after using such a deadly projectile", Umah said as Johnny handed her the box containing Travas clothing while Alexia hands Travas his B.C. Rich Avenger guitar kept within its case. "I thank you for carrying these items back home, you guys".

"It's no problem", Alexia replied. "I'm just thankful that Johnny hasn't been arrested and you two weren't hurt. But there is something I was meaning to ask you, Umah".

"Oh, right! You wanted to know why Travas and I were on Alopex, am I correct", Umah asked.

"Right", Alexia answered while nodding.

"To answer that, Travas and I teleported to Alopex a couple of days after he had a vision regarding his father", Umah explained.

"And in his visions, General Travas was…" Johnny spoke curiously before Alexia covers their son's ears.

"Apparently, the general decided to have an affair with Scarlet's Principal, Fiona Downing, upon which we confronted him before he was able to continue with his erotic behavior and release his essence into her womb", Umah continued explaining as Johnny and Alexia looked at her with shock and disgust.

"Oh, God, I've heard it before… but that's still sick", Alexia exclaimed.

"That sick bastard", Johnny exclaimed as he also recognizes who Scarlet's principal was. "Wait… wasn't she the one that was killed about four days ago", he asked.

"The very same, Johnny, and she also happened to be the younger sister of the late Sun Demon, Adrian Downing", Umah answered. "And it's a good thing I've managed to assassinate her before she were to kill Travas' father after he finished the deed in filling her womb", she continued.

"But before we killed Scarlet's principal, we discovered that my father was somehow put under her control because of her scent. It was then I found out he didn't voluntarily commit the act despite him still being aware of it", Travas added before Alexia begins shaking her head with disgust.

"This is just too much for me to handle right now", Alexia claimed while shaking her head briefly. "But thank you for letting us know what was going on", she continued. "Oh, we have to get back to Meridian and settle back into our home. It was great seeing you two again. Take care", she exclaimed as she, Johnny, and Dylan head for the Jeep nearby, getting in as they slowly drive away from the Pillars. But a moment after the family left and was no longer in sight, Umah and Travas began to hear something faint within their minds, focusing on it in order to find out who it was.

"Travas, Umah, I sense you both have returned from Alopex", Vorador spoke within their minds as Umah and Travas smile softly upon hearing his voice.

"It's great to hear from you again, Vorador", Umah said in 'the Whisper'.

"Same here", Travas also spoke in 'the Whisper'. "And what makes of Janos' condition. Is he alright?"

"As a matter of fact, he has awakened from his coma just a few minutes ago", Vorador answered, causing both Travas and Umah to smile at each other before focusing back to Vorador's voice. "However, it is necessary that you two return to the Citadel at once. Janos wants to speak with you concerning your time on Alopex", he spoke in a slight serious manner, relieving the smiles off of the couple's faces and turning them into calm, concerned gestures. "I will see you within the Underground Chamber shortly", he continued, thus disconnecting from 'the Whisper' and leaving the two to look upon each other with calm, worried expressions on their faces.

"Well… we might as well get this over with", Travas said, turning to face the direction in which the Vampire Citadel lies.

"I agree, and we better prepare to explain everything to him when we arrive", Umah replied as she began to summon forth energy to teleport them towards the Citadel. But before she finalizes the technique, the Soul Reaver began to glow a strange, blue colored light while the aura began to engulf the blade. In that moment, the blade began to almost violently shake as the sword's sudden reaction sent shockwaves to the couple as they look upon what had just happened.

"What the hell", Travas exclaimed, gripping onto the sword by means of keeping it under control. However, the blade began to compete against the wielder, turning against its owner while the vulpin continued to find ways to keep the sword from trying to strike him down. But within about five seconds, the sword began to calm down as the aura dissipates from the blade itself, allowing Travas to regain control over the sword while putting it back into its case behind his back.

"Travas, are you alright", Umah asked worryingly, but calmly.

"Yeah… I'm alright", Travas answered. "But let's get to sanctuary right away before the sword tries acting on its own again" he continued.

"Of course", Umah replied, finally performing the teleportation technique as a bright purple colored aura engulfed them and their belongings, disappearing from the place in which the decaying Pillars lie. And before they knew it, they were within the heart of the Underground Chamber of the Citadel… and standing within seven feet of their position was both Vorador and the one that needed to talk to them regarding their trip to Alopex.

"It's great to see you again, Janos", Travas greeted as he went to shake his hand and Umah went to hug him. "And I can tell you've managed to make a good recovery

"Of course, but now isn't the time to discuss about my condition. There are questions I need to ask you both regarding your trip to Alopex", Janos spoke seriously, yet calmly while placing his hands into his dark blue boot-cut jeans' pockets. "One of them is that I wish to know the reason why you journeyed back towards Alopex while I was in suffering from a coma", he asked while Travas sighs calmly and looks upon his sire.

"Alright, but it may take a bit of time to explain the entire thing", Travas claimed.

"It does not matter on how long your explanation is. But do your best to explain as much as you can", Janos replied, causing Travas to nod.

"Very well… the reason why Umah and I went to Alopex was because of a vision I had recently about my father", Travas explained.

"What was the vision about", Janos asked, looking upon Travas in a curious, yet slight serious manner.

"As sickening as this may sound, he apparently had conducted sexual relations with Scarlet's School Principal, Fiona Downing by means of bribing Scarlet out of expulsion or into a lesser form of punishment. But when we got there, we found out that he was under the kitsune's control despite him being aware of his actions", Travas continued as his explanation caught the attention of Vorador.

"Hold on, you mentioned a woman named 'Fiona Downing', by chance", Vorador asked.

"Yeah… you know her", Travas replied curiously.

"Unfortunately I do", Vorador claimed. "She's the younger sister of the late Sun Demon, Adrian Downing, the very same kitsune demon you had assassinated four years ago", he continued while Janos watches closely before looking back at the vulpin nearby.

"And you said that she was the Principal of your younger sibling's School", Janos asked.

"Yes", Travas answered. "But apparently while Umah and I were fighting Kain at the time I had the vision, both Johnny's family and mine were caught in a shooting that two gunmen provoked at the Solarfox Strikeforce Military Ball. And apparently, Johnny used a flay projectile to kill the second one, and as a result was arrested for using the deadly projectile", he explained, causing the two vampires' eyes to widen in shock. "Thankfully, however, Umah managed to pay his bail bonds and the Judge ruled that he was found not guilty after reviewing the evidence and eye witness cases", the vulpin added.

"Since when did he learn to use such an artifact", Janos asked, with Vorador turning to face his sire with a slightly embarrassed facial gesture on his face.

"That… would be my doing, Janos", Vorador spoke while softly chuckling in an embarrassed tone.

"Although it may have been extreme for him to use such an artifact, he and his family need some time to rest", Umah said while looking towards Janos. "We also have some strange news to tell you both, and this may be something that you might want to investigate".

"What else has come up as of late", Janos curiously asked.

"While Travas and I were about to teleport to the Citadel moments ago, a blue colored aura began to engulf the Soul Reaver as it turned against Travas as if it tried to compete for control", Umah explained as Janos turned to face Travas.

"Travas… is this true", Janos asked.

"Apparently so", Travas answered. "It was like the sword itself was trying to acting on its own, trying to compete against me for control", he continued as Janos starts stroking his own chin, looking down with an investigative gesture. Then he turns to face Umah once again.

"Umah, you spoke of the Reaver being engulfed in a blue colored aura?" Janos asked.

"Yes", Umah answered.

"I see", Janos said before turning to face the vampuric vulpin once more. "Travas, it may be best that you left the Reaver inside the Sacred Chamber until we can uncover whatever may be hiding within the sword", he advised while Travas hands the sword to the winged vampire. And within the next moment, Janos summons forth energy and teleports out of the room and into the Sacred Chambers. As for the vampuric couple, they began to grab as many items as they could and head for the exit.

"Travas… I am curious about what kind of bike this is?" Vorador asked, looking upon the bike's structure. "I've never seen one built without wheels".

"Oh, that's actually a hover bike I owned before I was murdered and brought back as a living vampire", Travas answered before looking upon Umah and softly. "However, it's under Umah's, or should I say 'Rachael's' name", he joked as Umah playfully shoves him and smirks.

"You know, hon, the hover bike still belongs to you", Umah answered before pecking his lips quickly. "But I am thankful that it was on sale, or otherwise Johnny may have gotten killed during his imprisonment".

"Yeah, no kidding", Travas replied. "C'mon, let's go ahead and get our stuff back into our room", he continued while carrying the items towards their room. However, Umah began to poke him gently to get his attention, causing him to turn around and look at his girlfriend curiously. "Something up", he asked.

"I have a better idea", Umah claimed while summoning forth energy. But before Travas could utter a word, Umah instantly transports them back into their room. Thus, the two start to place their belongings at the appropriate spots and arrange them in the order they saw fit.

*Within the Police Station, Veron Opus, Alopex*

Everything within the city of Veron Opus began to calm down and its citizens continue on with their daily lives. But inside the Police Station, however, business seems to be in such disarray, with paperwork stacking on top of one after another and stress within some of the officers began to escalate gradually. But the one that began to become more evident with the tensions was a familiar general of high ranks and standards, Travas Starfox Sr. himself. Inside his office, he continued to work on some of the paperwork regarding the murder of Fiona Downing, upon which had taken place four days ago. Suddenly however, his work was interrupted when a familiar gray/orange mixed vulpin officer enters the room, saluting to the general as Travas Sr. does the same in return.

"Morning, General", Officer Morrison greeted while lowering his right arm to his side.

"Morning, Morrison", Travas Sr. replied in a calm, yet slightly stressful tone. "Have you heard anything regarding the whereabouts of Fiona Downing's relatives", he asked.

"No, I haven't…" Officer Morrison answered. "It's like her relatives are either nowhere to be found or deceased… and if that's the case, then the only people that would be showing up are her co-workers, friends, and the students that knew and respected her", he continued. But within a short moment, Sgt. Kennedy and Sgt. Reese enter within the general's office as he and Morrison turn to face them. "Oh hello there", he greeted, saluting the two young Sergeants as they do the same with him.

"Morning", both Sgt. Reese and Kennedy replied before turning to face the general.

"It's good to see you, too, Morrison", Sgt. Kennedy said while turning to face him. "But it might be best if you go ahead and continue with your daily assignments. Reese and I need to have a word with the general in private", he continued. But as reluctant as the officer was, he nods and salutes to the two sergeants before walking out of the room, leaving the three alone inside the office.

"I'm sure you're aware about Fiona's murder, correct", Sgt. Reese asked.

"Yes", Travas Sr. answered.

"And were you also aware of the form she was in at the time of her death, were you not", Sgt. Kennedy also asked.

"Unfortunately, yes. Though I don't know what to make of it… it's… kinda like something out of a horror movie or something of the matter", Travas Sr. claimed, lowering his head and looking down upon himself in remembrance on the night Fiona had died.

"Something troubling you", Sgt. Reese asked, showing slight concern towards the troubled general. But within a moment, the general shakes his head and faces the sergeant in front of him.

"It's nothing", Travas Sr. reassured.

"Don't lie to me, General. Tell me what's wrong", Sgt. Reese spoke firmly.

"Reese!"

"What happened", Sgt. Reese exclaimed, causing the general to sigh in frustration upon his demands.

"You wanna know what happened", Travas Sr. asked in an annoyed tone. "I was trying to negotiate with Scarlet's principal in hopes of finding a way to reduce the severity of my daughter's punishment. But then everything's goes to shit when two unidentified assassins break into her home and try to kill her. Apparently while she was fighting them off, she transforms into what one of them claimed her to be a 'Succubus' or whatever they called her. Then before she knew it, the female assassin uses a butcher-like sword and slices her throat open", Travas explained, annoyed by Reese's firm behavior.

"General, calm down", Sgt. Reese pleaded.

"I'm not done yet", Travas Sr. claimed. "And guess what happened next after she died. Both assassins start drinking her blood as a prized supplement to their accomplished murder", Travas Sr. continued explaining, causing Kennedy and Reese to look at him in an odd, but a calm, strange sense of confusion and slight horror within them. In fact, they didn't even know how they can comprehend such an explanation.

"And you're telling me that you were an eye witness to this whole mess", Sgt. Kennedy exclaimed, grabbing him by his jacket and pinning him to the wall. "Do you realize the severity of this case?! Many of the citizens are gonna think you were involved in some sort of negotiation-murder scandal", he shouted while Sgt. Reese was grabbing the fellow sergeant by his shoulders and pulling him away from the general himself.

"Kennedy, take it easy! General Starfox, calm down", Sgt. Reese ordered, wrapping his arms around the furious sergeant's shoulders. Although tensions seemed to begin escalating to high standards, both General Starfox and Sgt. Kennedy began to calm down. Thus, Reese releases the sergeant from his grip as Kennedy looks at the general with an angered, yet calm expression on his face, seeing him sigh in frustration while looking at the sergeant with a similar expression as well.

"Reese, I suggest that you take Kennedy with you and continue with your assignments at once" Travas Sr. advised, seeing them turn and head for the door.

"Yes, sir', Sgt. Reese replied while holding onto Kennedy as a precaution. "While we're at it, we're gonna go ahead and take Fiona's body to the morgue nearby and begin to make funeral arrangements for her".

"Fine, just do me a favor and get the fuck out. I'm not in the mood to be dealing with anyone else's bullshit right now", Travas Sr. demanded as the two sergeants finally exit the general's office. After the door shuts, the general gives out another sigh in frustration and falls back onto the chair, sitting on it while rubbing his forehead in a stressful manner. But in a similar notion, he began looking back at the paperwork regarding the current case, from which he knew the true identities of the 'masked' assassins he had claimed them to be in the first place.

*Inside Travas and Umah's bedroom*

Moving hastily from one place after another, object after object, the vampuric couple continued to rearrange the furniture in the way they saw fit. And after about fifteen minutes of hard work, they finally relax upon their bed, looking upon their work before looking at each other in the eyes. Then in that moment, they plant a kiss on each other's lips while holding onto each other in their arms. When they broke the kiss, Umah rested her head onto his muscular chest lovingly.

"I love you, babe", Travas spoke softly into his girlfriend's ear.

"I love you, too, Travas", Umah replied softly, kissing his cheek and resting upon his chest. But as she was resting, a few thoughts began to course her mind as Travas looked upon her curiously. "Hey, Travas, can I ask you something?"

"Ask away, hon", Travas replied.

"Before you were murdered on Alopex, how strong was your relationship between you and your father", Umah asked as Travas looked into her eyes.

"When I was a kit, I've always looked up to him as I was growing up, wanting to join the Solarfox Strikeforce like he did", Travas answered before sighing. "Why do you ask?"

"I was curious after what I've witnessed between you and your father while we were on your home world", Umah replied.

"Ah! Of course…" Travas started. "Although I've always looked up to him, some things began to change while I was in my early twenties. For instance, tensions between me and my father began to escalate and pull us apart, getting into arguments and getting into occasional fistfights", he continued to explain as he turned to look at the ceiling. "But sometime after the Tenth Annual Alopex Martial Arts Tournament, that's when everything began to change drastically", the vulpin continued, remembering the day that tensions between he and his father came to its peak.

*Flashback*

One week after the Tenth Annual Alopex Martial Arts Tournament, things within the Starfox Household seemed to be calming down. Scarlet has been playing her video games in the Living Room, Travas Sr. reading the newspaper on the reclining chair, and with Victoria cooking some Cherkin and Rice in the kitchen. Soon enough, Travas opens the door and enters upon his home while sighing quietly in depression as he passes by.

"Travas, you're home", Victoria said while going to hug him. However, she notices her son's depressed state and looks at him worryingly. "Son… what's wrong", she asked as Travas looked upon her briefly before looking away.

"It's nothing, Mom", Travas said softly as Scarlet began tugging on his Leather Jacket w/ Denim Vest, wanting to get his attention.

"Travas…! I managed to beat the boss in "Galaga' on hard mode", Scarlet said happily as Travas looks towards his sister with a soft smile, despite his depressed state.

"That's awesome, SAS", Travas spoke as he rubs her head gently before turning to his mother. "Look, I'll be in my room for a little while. Come get me when dinner is ready", he said as his mother nods in response and continues on with her cooking. Travas then walks towards his room and shuts the door behind him.

Upon entering, he takes off his Leather Jacket w/ Denim Vest and places it on the rack. He then removes other articles of clothing until he was in his gray tank top, black socks, and his black skintight leather pants. Afterwards he lies upon the bed and places his Slayer "Seasons of the Abyss" CD into the stereo and listens to it at a reasonable volume while thinking about recent events happening since the tournament the week before.

"I don't understand any of this… first, I thought that I was only being able to read minds. Now I started seeing things that don't make any sense to me at all", Travas thought in his mind, looking upon the ceiling with thoughts coursing his mind. "What did Zepherus mean by 'seeing the horror of my end'…? Does he mean that I can see things… like events in the future or something like that", he thought, questioning himself upon the recent mysteries he was suffering from.

As Travas was thinking and a certain amount of time passes, the song "Seasons of the Abyss" from Slayer began to play, deepening his thoughts as a response. But when it got close to the chorus, he hears some knocking on his bedroom door. Then, he gets off of his bed and opens the door to reveal her worried mother waiting outside.

"Son, I want to let you know that dinner will be ready in about five to seven minutes", Victoria said as the depressed vulpin nods in response. "Travas… are you sure you're okay…" she asked worryingly as he also nods in response.

"Don't worry, mom… I'll be fine", Travas answered as he gently shut the door and lied upon the mattress in his room. In response, his mother began to worry about him deeper as she headed back for the kitchen. But as Victoria was walking away, he looks upon his mother; slightly guilty that he couldn't tell her what was on his mind.

"I wish I could tell Mom was going on within my mind. But I don't know how to explain all of this to her and I feel bad for not telling her the truth", Travas thought, shutting the door to his room, lying back onto his bed and looking upon the ceiling. "Then again, if I told her… I don't even think she would've believed me anyways", he claimed within his thoughts as the song continues to play.

After a few minutes passes by, Travas places his CD back into his case and sets it near his dresser with the others. But when he was about to grab his "Alice in Chains: Facelift" CD, he hears knocking on his door. And when he opens it, he notices it was his mother waiting for him outside.

"Travas, dinner is ready", Victoria spoke as she patted her son's right shoulder while heading for the Table. Travas heads for the table shortly after Victoria arrives as she has his and her plates ready to eat. In response, Travas nods in a thankful manner as he took his plate and sat across from his father and next to Scarlet. Likewise, Victoria sits next to her mate while placing Erica in a table stool next to her.

As they continue eating dinner, Travas Sr. began to look upon the food with slight disgust while reluctantly eating it. At the same time, Travas began to notice his father's behavior and looks at him suspiciously, yet slightly curiously.

"That's odd… I've never seen Dad look at Cherkin and Rice in disgust before. Why is he acting like this?" Travas thought as Victoria begins to notice their expressions and keeps watch of them both.

"How's dinner, you two", Victoria asked as Both Travas and Travas Sr. shift their sights towards her.

"Dinner's fine", both Travas and his father answered in unison as they continued eating. However, Travas had kept an eye on his father, noticing that he was eying his food and briefly towards him. But as the two continued to eat, Travas Sr. began to eye his mate with an unsatisfied expression and quietly growls while she wasn't paying attention.

"Damnit… why the kenal does she have to cook the same fucking dish nearly three times a week? I know her paycheck hasn't come in yet, but I'm getting sick and tired of eating the same fucking dish over and over again and it's getting on my last fucking nerve. Why can't she cook something else that we actually have other than this bullshit" Travas Sr. thought while eying his wife with disgust. And in that Instant, Travas, after reading his thoughts, finally snaps and tosses his fork onto the plate with aggression, looking upon his father with an angered expression.

"Then why the kenal are you complaining about having the same damn thing if you're eating it right now", Travas yelled angrily as his father looks at him coldly.

"I never said such a thing… and what the kenal are you, Travas, some kind of mind reader or something like that?" Travas Sr. asked coldly and sarcastically, looking upon his son as he eyes his father angrily. "Damnit, son, you better answer me right now!" he shouted demandingly while slamming his right fist onto the table. Then he gets up and heads for his son while Travas does the same for his father.

"Pretty much, you old man…! I just read every word you thought in your fucking mind", Travas said angrily as Victoria and Scarlet gasp in shocking response.

"Travas", Victoria shouted angrily. "Watch your mouth… and I don't any fights between you two", she continued, yet worryingly and shockingly as she ran and got between the two, who are now facing each other nose to nose.

"So, Mr. Psychic", Travas Sr. mocked. "If you have read my mind, then what the fuck did I say in my thoughts", he asked angrily as Travas clenched his fist in preparation.

"You said that you were sick of eating the same Cherkin and Rice that Mom cooks three times a week, claiming that its bullshit and that it's getting on your fucking nerves. You damn well know that Mom hasn't been able to go shopping today since her paycheck hasn't come in yet… so how about you just SHUT THE FUCK UP AND DEAL WITH IT!" Travas shouted angrily, causing Victoria to gasp in shock while Travas Sr. was growling in rage.

"Hey, WATCH YOU FUCKING MOUTH, YOU LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT", Travas Sr. yelled angrily and aggressively as he attempts to march towards his son, but was stopped by Victoria.

"Boys, STOP IT!" Victoria screamed loudly as she tries to break them up, but her mate shoves her to the side, causing her to land upon the couch. Then he immediately and fiercely punches Travas on his left cheek, causing him to crash onto the lamp on the coffee table nearby. Soon Travas gets back up and gives his father a roundhouse kick on his father's right side of the face while wiping the blood off of the left side of his face.

As the fight continues to progress between Travas and his father, Scarlet immediately grabs Erica and heads for the Den, with tears streaming down both of their faces. Though Victoria wanted to go and comfort them both, she had to focus on trying to break up the fight between the two, who in which have cause a substantial amount of damage towards each other. It was then that, out of desperation, Travas Sr. grabs his leather belt and uses it to strangle his son, causing Travas to begin gasping for air.

"So who's the tough guy now, you son of a bitch", Travas Sr. yelled aggressively as he tightens the leather belt around his son's neck. And because of this, the vulpin continues to struggle with escaping from his father's grip.

"Damnit… gotta… get out", Travas thought while struggling to get free from his father's tightening grip.

*Present*

"Wait, your father strangled you with his belt", Umah asked.

"Yep, and believe me, that nearly took the breath out of me", Travas answered before looking back towards the ceiling. "But that wasn't the peak to the whole mess. Because when I was trying to struggle to get free, the same energy that saved me countless number of times was released from within me for the second time in my life".

*Flashback continuation*

As Travas continues trying to break free, Victoria attempts to free her son while he tries endlessly to escape from his father's tightening grip. As Victoria was struggling to get her son free, however, she notices something disturbing about Travas' narrowly-opened eyes. She discovers that his innocent green irises were slowly fading away, almost beginning to blend in with the white of his eye. Upon making this discovery, she somehow manages to figure out that her son's rage was about to explode and backs away from him almost immediately.

"What… what's happening to my son's eyes...? It's like they've changed into something more horrific than his innocent green eyes", Victoria thought within her mind as she backs away from them slightly in fear. "Travas…! LET GO OF OUR SON, NOW!" Victoria spoke loudly as the struggle continues to worsen with each passing second.

Though things seem to continue getting worse, it was then that Victoria began to notice smoke beginning to form on her son's body. And in that instant, she backs away from her son as far as she could. Within the next moment, Travas' body is suddenly engulfed in a fiery like red-purple colored energy similar to that from the Tournament the week before. This monstrosity instantly sends waves of shock to Travas Sr. as he loses grip on his belt that formerly strangulated his son. And in that moment, Travas turns to face his father, with his now pupil-less eyes, and immediately strikes a punch upon Travas Sr.'s stomach, thus taking the air out of his body. Then he throws another vicious punch on the left side of his face, sending him through the window that leads to their city block outside.

As Travas flies towards his father's direction to continue the fight, the residents around that block leave their homes to see what all of the convulsion was. But outside, Travas strikes another powerful punch on his father's face before kicking his stomach, sending him towards the space station sky. Then he flies towards his father again and performs a vicious front flip kick upon his face, causing him to crash upon a nearby field at a local park close to home. This immediately causes many local civilians near the park to panic and run from the monstrosity they now witness in their neighborhood.

"What the kenal is going on here…?! Wasn't this the same trick my son performed during the semi-finals last week", Travas Sr. thought while painfully trying to get back onto his feet-paws. Although he manages to get back up, he was met with a series of ferocious punches and kicks all over his body, sending him flying towards a nearby tree and crashing on the trunk. Again, he tries to get back onto his feet-paws, but this time, however, he presses a button on his handheld Solarfox Strikeforce insignia pad. But when Travas Sr. tries to fight back after standing up one again, his son merely catches his attacks as he watches helplessly and horrified upon his new form. "Travas… STOP", the general shouted while looking upon his son with widened, horrified eyes.

"I don't think so, you old fool", Travas replied with a growl while smirking towards his father, who immediately turns around and runs from him as fast as he could despite his limping. Unfortunately for the general, he feels some sort of essence stopping him from progressing any farther than he originally intended. But by the time he turns to face his son, who was responsible for the essence that was holding onto him, he was suddenly pulled back when Travas pulls his left hand-paw towards him, pulling his father towards him until he was about a foot away from him.

"Travas, what are you doing?!" Travas Sr. shouted fearfully, eying his son with shock and horror as his son smirks upon his frightened state.

"Maybe this might answer your question", Travas replied before throwing him towards the sky above. Then he immediately flies towards the general in the skies, holding his own hand-paws together and struck his father's back, sending him flying towards the ground. But before the impact, Travas hastily flies towards his father and hastily strikes him in the gut with his right knee, causing the general to cough up blood in the process. Then, out of aggression, he strikes his father's face fiercely with his right hand-paw, sending him flying towards the next synthetic tree and crash-landing on the root. Thus, he flies at a medium-slow pace towards his father with a smirk on his face.

*Present*

"That was when the tensions between my father and I escalated towards higher standards than we normally had during my early twenties", Travas explained, turning to see Umah's slightly shocked expression on her face. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah… just shocked", Umah answered. "With the capabilities you've recently, obtained, you could've killed your own father without a second thought".

"Perhaps", Travas replied. "But during the match, I've gotten a lot more attention than I had bargained for that day, upon which had arrived just before I was able to kill my old man… and my mother wasn't the only one that came in hopes of stopping me".

*Flashback*

While the fight continues to progress at higher levels, Travas lands upon the now damaged fields of the park just within about seven meters from his father's location. As Travas lands and starts walking towards his father, Travas Sr., though bloodied and broken, began to crawl away from his son in fear. But his efforts had soon become worthless as he can no longer move any farther than desired. He then turns to face his son's pupil-less eyes as Travas began to form some sort of energy around his hand-paws.

"Travas… please don't" Travas Sr. pleaded fearfully as his eyes widen upon the shock that his son continued to intensify the energy forming on his hand-paws… so much so that it causes the ground to shake around upon them both. But as Travas continued his fierce attack, Victoria arrives on the scene and looks upon her mate's bloodied, injured state.

"Travas STOP", Victoria screamed as she runs towards them as fast as she could. But by the time she got to her son, he manages to finalize his attack and was ready for the kill. As a response, she grabs Travas' body as an effort to stop him, but proved to be worthless as she couldn't get him to budge.

In that Moment, Travas spreads out his arms slightly above and in front of him as he prepares to kill his father while Victoria was trying to stop her son. But before he was able to throw the attack on his father, the authorities arrive and use the most powerful Taser guns they had in their possession on the ferocious vulpin, thus putting his body into immediate shock as he falls onto the ground, making him lay on the right side of his body. In that moment, the authorities approaches Travas and rolls him over on his stomach before placing his hand-paws behind his back, placing the forearm cuffs onto him.

"Travas Starfox, you are under arrest under the charge of Destruction of Property, Disturbing the Peace, and the Attempted Murder of a high-ranking Solarfox Strikeforce Official", a young vulpin Officer stated as he picks Travas up and throws him in the back of the V.O.P.D. van just within a few feet from their location. Then almost immediately, the authorities take Travas towards the Veron Opus Police Department while the paramedics took the general to the Veron Opus Hospital.

*Present*

"And I assume this was the first time you had been placed under arrest after the battle had come to an abrupt stop by the authorities", Umah asked curiously.

"Actually, that was my second time I got arrested by the authorities", Travas answered while turning his body to the right side to face her.

"Second time…? Then what were you arrested for the first time", Umah asked curiously once again.

"The first time I was arrested was after I defeated my opponent, Zepherus, a Hylden warrior, during the semi-final match" Travas answered while sighing softly "Unfortunately, however, I killed him as a result and was disqualified from the tournament", he continued while turning onto his back, looking up at the ceiling while placing his hand-paws underneath the pillows to help support his head. "But continuing with my story from earlier, I was taken into solitary confinement while my mother was grabbing my siblings and taking them to the Police Station to bail me out.

*Flashback*

After about a twenty to thirty minute drive towards the Police Department, the authorities arrive and unlock the doors to the hover van containing Travas within. They pull him out of the van and take him through the back doors, taking him into the check-in station and performing any procedures needed. After about another minute or two, they take him out of the check-in station and take him into the solitary confinement room. Thus, they shove him into a room that was fifteen feet by twenty feet wide, containing only a bed, toilet, mirror, and sink. The next thing that the injured vulpin did was sit into the cold floor while curling into a ball, burying his head into his knees and wrapping his arms around his legs.

"Great, first I get into a brutal fight with my own Dad and nearly kill him. Now I've been arrested and placed in solitary confinement", Travas thought to himself while tightening his grip on his legs tightly. "What am I becoming", he thought. But within a few minutes a young male accountant unlocks the door and opens it, causing the vulpin to look upon the accountant with surprise despite his depression.

"Well, Travas, it seems your family managed to bail you out", the accountant spoke as Travas stood up onto his feet, continuing to look upon him in surprise.

"Wait… my family", Travas spoke surprisingly. "I… I thought that they're-"

"It seems they came here to bail you out, Travas", the accountant interrupted while placing fore-arm cuffs on the injured vulpin before shrugging. "But despite the trouble you've caused at the park... you're free to go", he said while grabbing a hold of his arm, taking him out of solitary confinement and towards the exit.

Within a course of a minute or two, the Accountant enters the lobby with Travas in his possession, though he was slightly bruised and bloodied, in his hand-paws as he un-cuffs him from his forearm-cuffs. After Travas was un-cuffed, Victoria and her kits run to him and hug him in relief, though his mother was unpleased of his actions from earlier. But nevertheless, they now head towards the hospital even though Travas was reluctant on going.

After about ten minutes of driving, the family arrives to the hospital upon where Travas Sr. was being treated for his injuries. They arrive to the counter to meet a gray vixen accountant who was somewhere in her twenties.

"Excuse me, Miss, but do you know what room my mate, General Travas Starfox Sr. is being kept in for treatment of his injuries", Victoria asked as Travas sighed in frustration and anger.

"Damnit, that's the last thing I wanna do at this time", Travas thought as Victoria turned to face him while the Accountant began searching among the databases for her mate's room.

"Travas, I don't want to hear anything aggressive from you, nor any fighting from you two. Do I make myself clear", Victoria whispered in her son's ear as the Accountant turns to face them.

"Mrs. Starfox, your mate is located in Room B-204 on the second floor", the Vixen Accountant answered as the family heads upstairs for the room.

Upon Arrival, they see that Travas Sr. had suffered a horrific amount of damage, which includes five broken ribs, his left leg and right arm fractured heavily, a bloodied and bruised face, and stitching over his right cheek. Though Victoria, Scarlet, and Erica walk towards their father in a worrying manner, Travas walks towards the farthest seat he could find and sat there, looking upon the floor with an expression showing that he could care less about his own father. However, Victoria catches this and walks towards him, both worried and annoyed about him.

"Travas… I understand you're not in the mood to talk to your father or anyone else for that matter. But right now, all I ask is for you remain close with your siblings and provide comfort for them after causing the damage you caused against your father. That's all I'm asking you to do…" Victoria said as Travas looked upon her in the eye. "Please…" she begged her son as he lets out a sigh in calm frustration. Shortly, Travas nods and heads for his saddened siblings and sits next to them despite him being reluctant about being anywhere near his old man.

Although the entire hospital visit was tense and uncomforting, the family manages to endure it with ease and without any further trouble from both father and son. After a few hours of visiting, the family leaves Travas Sr.'s hospital room and begins to head home for the remainder of the night. On the way to the car, Victoria starts to keep a close eye on her son, Travas, to ensure he doesn't get into any further trouble. Once they enter the car, the family starts driving home for the night.

As Victoria was driving, she notices her son looking out of the passenger's side window in depression and began to worry about him. As soon as she stops at a red light, she pats her son's left shoulder as Travas turns to face his mother, seeing her softly smile at him. Thus, the expression on Victoria's face gave some comfort to him as he softly smiles back at his mother. Once the light turned green, Victoria continued to drive home so that the rest of her family could continue on with their daily lives.

*Flashback End*

"After we left the hospital, me and the rest of my family continued on with our lives despite the tensions my father and I had", Travas continued explaining as Umah scoots towards him and places her left hand on his cheek.

"And I assume you and your father got into a few more confrontations after he returned from the hospital", Umah asked curiously as Travas softly smiled at her.

"Actually, we surprisingly didn't", Travas admitted. "We've actually made our amends not too long after the whole mess occurred", he continued before he slightly turned away and his soft smile faded into a more, slightly depressed one. "Although we've made our amends, it would be the last few weeks I've spent with my family until I was murdered by three felin thugs right in front of my own sister four years ago", he explained as Umah gently pulls his head towards him, planting a kiss on his muzzle lips.

As a response to Umah's gift, the vulpin holds her in his arms and returns the kiss, rolling to the right until he was on top of her. The female vampire, in turn, wraps her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss only slightly. But as they continue, they began to hear a knock on their door, causing the couple to turn their heads towards the bedroom entrance at once, seeing Janos waiting by the door.

"Have I disturbed your privacy", Janos asked, softly smiling and chuckling upon seeing them holding each other in their arms.

"Um… no, not at all", the couple answered as Travas starts rubbing his head with his right hand-paw and Umah bashfully holds onto her mouth with her slightly clenched right hand.

"I see…" Janos replied. "I came to tell you that the Reaver has been placed into the Sacred Chambers for safe keeping along with some of the other vampires keeping a watchful eye on the sword. We cannot afford the Sword to turn against us and try to kill our clan. And as a precaution, it is best that we cease using the blade until we uncover whatever may lie within the blade", he continued.

"Understood" the couple spoke while nodding in response, thus the winged vampire leaves their room to continue on with whatever duties he had left to do. In a similar manner Travas and Umah look at each other and smirk, quickly stripping themselves from their garments and continuing their guilty pleasures underneath the covers.

*Veron Opus, Alopex, later in the evening*

The evening has set in upon the residents residing among Alopex, causing many to return home and others to begin their night shifts. As for a familiar, yet stressed out vulpin general, he begins to drive back home to his family, who were waiting for him at home eagerly. Unfortunately however, his stress levels began to increase as he was met with oncoming traffic. Thus, he was forced to wait as he continues to progress at a slower rate than he had originally planned to.

Back at the Starfox Family Home, Victoria was cooking some Spaghetti with cherkin in the kitchen while the kits were finishing up their homework. After about half an hour later, Victoria began to set the table up while the kits were putting away their school materials. And within another moment, the door opens as the family turns to see the general entering their home and walking downstairs. Thus he enters the living room as they notice him in a frustrated mood, causing the kits to slightly steer clear from him as a precaution.

"Hon, what's wrong", Victoria asked worryingly, approaching him as he looks at her and sighs in a frustrated manner.

"Very frustrated and stressed out", Travas Sr. answered as he heads for their room. Then Victoria began to follow him as the kits stay in the den. Then she enters their room and shuts the door before turning to face the stressed vulpin.

"Travas…? Did something happen at work", Victoria asked worryingly, placing her right hand-paw on his left shoulder. "Hon… what's wrong?"

"Too much going through my mind at the moment", Travas Sr. replied, sighing in frustration before turning to face his worried mate. "I understand that you're concerned… but I need some time to myself. Go on ahead and eat dinner without me. I'll be down soon", he continued, turning away from the worried vixen. Then, reluctantly, Victoria nods in response and turns away from him, leaving the general within the room alone and in thought.

But after she left, Travas Sr. looks into the Fiona Downing Murder Case file and looks upon a photo of the dead principal, looking horrifically at the gruesome way she had died thanks to his now vampuric son's girlfriend. But what was truly bothering him the most was what he had done with her on the night she was murdered despite him being under her control at the time. All he could do now was place the photo of her body back into the file and look upon himself in the mirror across from him remorsefully.

"Oh dear maker, what have I done", Travas Sr. thought to himself while shaking his head and covering his eyes with his right hand. Though still distressed by the recent events, he sighs heavily and heads out of his room, meeting up in the dining room to have a much needed meal with his family.

*The Vampire Citadel, Nosgoth, 1:00 am*

Nightfall has come upon the land of Nosgoth once again. Many of its people rest deeply within their beds while some others begin their nightshifts. The same goes for some of the vampires in the Citadel, beginning their nightshifts to watch over the Reaver after it had begun to act strangely against Travas earlier that day. One of those vampires that began their nightshift happens to be Aramantha, who is watching over the Reaver from within the Sacred Chamber. But within a moment, she notices the sword glowing from within the glass container while it tried to break free from its prison.

"This isn't good… I have to go wake the others before it gets worse", Aramantha thought as she began sprinting out of the Chambers and towards Janos' Room. Upon arrival, she opens the door and hastily runs to the sleeping vampire, shaking him until he awoke. "Sire, the blade's trying to break free from its prison", she yelled as Janos rubs his eyes before falling back asleep. "JANOS, WAKE UP!" she screamed, causing the winged vampire to jolt upward before looking at the furious female vampire.

"Alright, alright, I'm up, I'm up", Janos spoke while getting out of bed, putting on a gray tank top to go with his black pajama pants. "Is the Reaver acting on its own will again", he asked, following Aramantha hastily towards the Sacred Chamber.

"Yes", Aramantha answered.

"How long ago did it start happening?" Janos asked again.

"It happened just a few moments ago sire", Aramantha answered, opening the doors to the Sacred Chamber. Thus, she points to the Soul Reaver, engulfed in a blue colored aura, trying to get out of its prison. "And it's still trying to escape as we speak".

"I don't understand… the Reaver wasn't forged to act upon its own will", Janos thought before turning to face Aramantha once more. "Aramantha, we must hurry and awaken the others right away".

"Understood, sire", Aramantha replied. Thus the two head back towards the Main Chambers with haste. One after another, the vampires began to awaken after hearing the urgent calls of both Janos and Aramantha. Soon, everyone gathers into the Main Chambers as Janos and Aramantha wait anxiously at the door for the others to follow.

"Janos… What's going on", Doyle asked while yawning.

"Is something bothering you both as of late", Umah asked with a yawn while holding onto Travas, who had also yawns slightly.

"We must go to the Sacred Chamber at once! The Reaver is acting on its own will again", Janos yelled as he and Aramantha sprint towards the Sacred Chamber, with the other vampires following pursuit just within a few meters behind the two. And within a short minute, they arrive at the entrance of the Sacred Chamber, with Janos opening the door to reveal the Reaver trying to break free from its glassy prison.

"Janos, when did this start happening", Travas asked urgently while watching the Reaver's attempts at breaking free become a lot more fiercer.

"According to Aramantha, she spoke of the Reaver trying to-", Janos tried to explain until he was interrupted by the sound of the sword breaking free from its prison. The blade then aims towards Travas and thus, flies after him as Travas got into his battle stance. Before the blade could pierce the vulpin's torso, he immediately dodges the blade with little effort and grabs onto the handle.

As the vulpin catches the Reaver by the handle, the sword began to struggle in getting free like a parasite trying to compete for control. All Travas could do at this point was use his left forearm to hold off and push the blade back as far as he could. In a similar manner, the other vampires could only keep a watchful eye on the blade, preparing for any sudden movements it might make.

"C'mon, Travas… you can do this" Umah thought within her mind while watching her beloved fend off against the blade's ravenous appetite.

"Why are you doing this to me…?" Travas thought, trying to focus his mind onto the sword and trying to pinpoint the source of the problem. "What is the problem…? Tell me… what is troubling you", he continued thinking, closing his eyes after finding the right amount of strength to hold off against the Soul Reaver's fury. But as the environment around him blackens to the point he can see nothing, a light begins to shine above a figure that wasn't too far from his position. The vulpin became curious and began to walk closer towards the mysterious figure until he was about three meters away from him.

As Travas looks upon the figure's features, he sees that the being had purple-blue colored skin and ruined wings on his back. The figure also had black hair with the front part curving into two hook-like bangs. He also wore some kind of brown colored cowl with two white colored distorted cane-shaped designs on the front along with golden-copper boots with the toes exposed and mummified arm wrap covering his forearms and part of his hands. Finally, when the figure turns his bony head to face the vulpin, he opens his black eye-lids and looks upon Travas with his pupil-less eyes. All the vulpin could do at that point was look upon the mysterious figure with a sense of familiarity and a calm sense of shock. Thus, the vulpin shakes his head and closes his eyes briefly, only to reopen them and discover he was back in the Sacred Chamber and the Reaver was calm once again.

"Travas… are you alright", Umah asked.

"Yeah… I'm alright" Travas answered as Janos looked upon him.

"It seems that the energy within the blade has subsided", Janos spoke before turning to the others. "Without a doubt, it seems that there is something within-"

"Someone", Travas interrupted calmly, causing the others to look upon him curiously.

"Travas… what do you mean", Janos asked, approaching the vulpin with curiosity coursing his mind.

"There's someone imprisoned within the Reaver", Travas claimed, turning to face the winged vampire. "Although he's familiar to an extent, I'm not exactly sure who he is. But I think you might know him, Janos".

"Wait… what do you mean someone's imprisoned within the blade", Janos asked as Travas hands the Reaver to him, holding onto it evenly with both hand-paws.

"You have to trust me on this, Janos", Travas replied. "I need you to hold onto the sword and focus your mind within the blade. Then you will see who it is I'm talking about", he continued as Janos grabs a hold of the Reaver with both hands, one on the handle and the other on the blade.

As Travas mentioned a moment before, the winged being takes a deep breath and closes his eyes, clearing his mind of all curiosity roaming within his thoughts. In that moment, the pure darkness soon forms a light shining upon a mysterious figure just a few meters away from him. Like Travas, he looks upon the being's features similar to what Travas had seen… and from someone he knew from his past. And before he knew it, the name pops into his head. Thus, the winged vampire opens his eyes and returned to the Sacred Chamber, with only one and only word he could utter.

"Raziel…"

A/N:

Seems Janos has reawakened from his coma just a bit before the Broderick family, Travas and Umah arrive back home. The winged vampire wasn't entirely happy with the couple going to Alopex, he understood why they had to go (Especially due to what happened at Friona's Apartment and with getting Johnny Out of Jail). However, they did tell their sire regarding the Soul Reaver acting on it's own in a rather violent manner. So the only solution to this was to rid the sword of the essence (With Travas telling Umah the story regarding the events that happened a week after the tournament, but from his perspective on it). Later that night, the vulpin discovers that the essence trying to attack him wasn't something magical, but that of a person trying to break free. And once he and Janos examine the essence within, he was identified as 'Raziel'. Will they be able to get him to break free... or Raziel be stuck within the blade forever. FInd out in the next installment of 'Legacy of Travas'.
