A Case of the Blues: Chapter 11
"Where is he?" Beth asked, fear lining her voice as she searched the apartment for Jimmy. "Is he still here?"
"Don't worry Bethy, I dragged him outside into the carpark. He woke up and left. He isn't here," Maggie assured her, flicking through the channels on the TV.
Beth had a gig tonight that she had forgotten about until just now. It was nothing big, just another small diner in the middle of nowhere, but she didn't mind. She loved to sing and although she'd never admit it, she quite liked the attention. She had returned to her apartment that she shared with Maggie to pick out an outfit and get made up ready for the performance. She wished she could tell Daryl that she would be singing tonight, but she wouldn't have time to return to the cabin to tell him. Wait…
"Mags?"
"Hmm?" She replied, not bothering to turn her attention away from the TV.
"I don't even know where Daryl lives," she wondered to herself.
Maggie didn't reply using words; instead she turned and faced Beth with a look that said wow, really, what a fantastic relationship. Beth just glared back.
"Well, who knows, he might turn up at your gig tonight," Maggie teased, turning her attention back to the reality TV show.
Beth ignored her and walked into her bedroom, deciding it was about time to start getting ready. She began by choosing her outfit for the night. She rummaged through her wardrobe and settled on a jet black skin tight dress with a slit in the side. She laid it out on the bed and picked out a pair of black heels to match. Smiling to herself, she headed into the bathroom. She put her hair back into a ponytail and began to work on her make up. Happy with her foundation, she put a small bit of bronzer onto her cheeks and applied some mascara. She let her hair down and shook her head, letting the blonde locks fall evenly down her back and onto her shoulders. She always thought less was more. She found some bright red lipstick and decided she would apply it later, just before she went on stage.
Beth grabbed her curlers out of her bedroom and plugged them in, waiting for them to heat up. She looked at herself in her bedroom mirror and smiled. Daryl had found her. They were finally reunited. She knew they'd meet again; she always did.
The curlers beeped, distracting her from her thoughts. She began curling her hair, grabbing a handful of hair and wrapping it around the heated iron, waiting a few seconds before letting it loose. She did this again and again until she was happy with the result.
Beth stood up, turning the curlers off and reaching for her outfit. She stepped into her dress and zipped it up the side, adjusting it accordingly. She slipped her heels on and grabbed her purse and keys.
"Maggie, I'm off in a sec," Beth shouted, heading for the front door. When she found no reply, she walked to the living room and found Maggie with wide eyes and a finger to her lips. She was stood by the window that overlooked the carpark.
"Jimmy's here…"
A/N: Dun dun duuuunnn! Okay, you guys knew we hadn't seen the last of Jimmy just yet. But don't fret; they'll get rid of him somehow, with the help of a surly redneck ;)
Also, I'm unsure as to where I want to take this story. I don't really have a storyline in my head and it's taken me days to write this chapter out, and it's still very short. If you guys have any ideas, please leave them in the reviews. Thank you for following this story and I hope you are looking forward to the next chapter!
