Hi guys! Here's a new chapter, and I hope you'll like it!

Chapter 9-The Chosen One is rising

Max rushed inside, still not believing what he had just heard- Phoebe was back!

He closed the door behind him, looking desperately around the the Thundermans sitting room- Was it a joke? Or was Phoebe really back home?-all these questions were swirling inside his head continuously when the backyard door opened and Phoebe came in, followed by Billy, Nora, Barb and Hank, whose faces were shining with happiness of seeing their elder sister alright… physically…

Max was stunned and he unconsciously let his mouth drop.

'Max!', Phoebe exclaimed, running towards him and hugging him tightly. 'It's so nice to see you!', she said, but Max didn't reply, he still had the slight feeling that something was not right, only he wasn't sure what.

'Aren't you happy to see me?', Phoebe asked, taking some steps backwards in order to study Max's puzzled-looking face.

'Of course I am!', he exclaimed, sounding a little bit off tone, but the other five Thundermans were far too happy to pay attention to his face.

'Yeah, well excuse me, I gotta, you know, uhm…', Max started to say, but instead of finishing his sentence, he opened the hatch and slid down, landing gently on his bed. He let himself land on his back, sighing deeply.

'Is there any problem, Max?', Dr. Colosso asked, 'Or should I call you Chosen One?', the talking bunny added, not helping himself from sounding a little taunting.

Max jumped off his bed and approached Dr. Colosso's cage at a fast pace.

'Dr. Colosso, you've been a good friend, someone that understood and taught me… to be evil…', Max said, slowly, carefully choosing his words.

'So now I get the teacher costume?!', Dr. Colosso exclaimed, barely hiding his excitement.

'No. Look what I want to say is that despite the fact that so many things happened with me being the Chosen One and all, I don't consider myself good, but I want to stop people from suffering. So because you managed to understand me so many years, I ask you to understand me now, as well.', Max said, his voice emitting no emotion at all, but as Dr. Colosso did not make any attempt to reply, Max felt the urge to continue: 'You'll have to choose today whether you are going to stay by my side or against me! If you'll choose my side, nothing will happen, if you choose to join Darkness, I will free you and I'll-I'll turn you back into a human being…', the teenager said , hardly preventing his tears to flow all over his face.

'Well, then my choice is clear!', Dr. Colosso exclaimed in a joyful voice.

Max said nothing, he only unlocked the door of the cage.

'Why are you opening that door?', Dr. Colosso said, slightly grinning. 'I'm stying!', the bunny added and both him and Max burst into laughing. 'Max, I've always known that you weren't destined to Darkness, but I was just playing with you. I am sure you will be the greatest superhero of all times!'

Max smiled.

'Thanks!'

'My pleasure, Sir, I mean, Max!'

Max's smiled faded instantly.

'May I ask you a little favor?'

'Anything, Max!', the bunny replied.

'I want you to spy on Phoebe!', the teenager exclaimed, not bothering to hide his embarrassment that he was asking a bunny to spy on his sister.

At Villain U…

'So? What do you think of my plan?', Dark Mayhem asked, looking at the person behind the bars of the cell.

'It's really lame!', the person said, and by her voice you could've sworn it was Phoebe speaking.

'There, there, let's not be censorious…', Dark Mayhem replied, walking around the room. 'As a conscience, you should be honest, I heard Phoebe used to be honest. Am I right?'

'As a conscience, I'm supposed to be in her, I mean, my body!', the person said, jumping angrily on her feet, and in that very moment you could've seen that she was Phoebe, but she looked faint, transparent.

'And I am supposed to rule the world, but as you may see, I don't.', Dark Mayhem said, slightly gripping one of the cell bars that kept him and Phoebe aside.

'You are a fool!', Phoebe's conscience said, raising her voice. You're messing up with the balance of the world-', she started to say, but Dark Mayhem interrupted her.

'I have to say, you are very wrong, dearie… Firstly, I am messing up with your world, and secondly, what do I need balance for?', he said, his voice sounding a little more acid.

'Because the balance affects us all, too much Darkness will destroy everything and nothing else will be left to be ruled, while too much Light will make life-'

'Yes, yes.', Dark Mayhem said in a bored manner, interrupting the faint replica of Phoebe. 'I'll free you… Well, immediately after I kill Max, so you can feel the pain!', the masked man replied, walking out of the room.

Phoebe's conscience sat down again, trying to act less hotheadedly. She had no possibility of escape-the cell was protected with energy that was powerful enough to keep her there, but then, an idea struck her- what if there were two of her? The cell wouldn't support two Phoebes, right? But no, she wasn't able to duplicate herself, all Phoebe could do was to separate a small part of herself and then bind the part with Phoebe…

Next day at Hiddenville…

'Isn't he superhot?', Max heard with his superhearing the group of girls standing somewhere opposite of him and abstained himself from smiling.

'Yeah, I know, he's cute and supersmart too!', a girl said, almost shouting, and Max soon realized that Sarah was the one speaking.

'Yeah, you're right, he's hot and all, but such a pity he has such a dumb sister like Phoebe!', the Chosen One heard Tara say, but he hadn't had time to say something to the girls, as they started to part ways to their classes, so he waited- until in the hallway was no one else apart from him and Tara.

'My sister's not dumb!', Max cried out, approaching Tara, his cheeks turning into a cherry colour.

Tara started to back away, fear obvious in her hazel eyes.

'Leave her alone', Cole said appearing from nowhere and interposing between his sister and Max.

'Or what?', the Chosen One asked, with defiance in his voice.

'Or I'll kill you!', Cole said, pulling out a gun and pointing it towards Max's chest.

The brown-haired teenager made no attempt to retreat, instead he came even nearer; that's when Cole fired, but Max dodged the bullet successfully, the latter deflecting into a locker behind Max, making such a loud noise that the whole school was startled.

Max was overwhelmed- someone has just tried to shoot him! And then, he started to loose conscience…

Max's eyes snapped open again, but surprisingly, everyone was standing where they originally were, but the Campbells looked rather surprised and they were completely entitled to be so as Max's eyes looked different; they were bright blue and looked like rays of light were going to burst out of them.

'We will not tolerate your treason!', Max said, although it wasn't his voice speaking and sounded like hundreds of voice were speaking at the same time .

Cole and Tara took a step back, their eyes opened in pure bewilderment and fear.

But before the Campbells could've done something, Max hit the ground with his foot, and the floor started to shake violently, forming sharp wrinkles around the two siblings. But Max's offense did not stop here, as he started to draw gestures that looked as if he was bending something and moments later, Cole and Tara realized that the Chosen One was manipulating water!

Max professionally drove the water around the stunned Campbells, making it float on thin air and then transforming it in dozens of sharp icicles, all pointed to Cole and Tara's necks. Now it was impossible for them to move.

Then, Max continued his offensive, making thousands of ball of fire appear, surely having the purpose of killing Cole and Tara.

'Max, stop it now!', Phoebe's voice made heard as she ran in the hallway, standing between Max-whose eyes were still glowing in a bluish light-and the Campbells-who were frightened more than ever-followed by crowds of curious pupils.

'Sorry, we can't do that!', Max replied, but again the voice did not belong to him. Then, using his molecular density manipulation, he passed through Phoebe and came nearer the doomed Campbells. The Chosen One raised his right hand and mimed gripping something invisible, then it was when the icicles started to come closer to Cole and Tara…

In the meanwhile, somewhere near the Nuuk, Greenland…

'Ma'am, come quickly please!', a fair headed boy said, coming in a bright lit room, where a tool blonde woman was sitting in an armchair.

'Why, what happened?', she asked quirking her eyebrows inquiringly.

'The statues in the sanctuary are all emitting a strange bluish light, ma'am!', the boy exclaimed.

'I see…', the woman replied. 'Prepare me my plane, I'm leaving.'

'Where to?', the boy asked, not bothering to hide his bewilderment.

'Metorburg.'

Somewhere in Antarctica…

'So they've just started doing this?', a black haired man asked, looking at some statues, whose eyes were all glowing in a blinding bluish light.

'Prepare my fleet and get all our soldiers on board and set course to Metorburg. If the prophecy is right, the Chosen One will need all the help possible.', the man said, addressing a woman dressed in a deep blue uniform.

Somewhere in Eastern China…

'Ma'am, the statues started to glow again!', a white-haired man said slowly, waiting for a reply.

'Then the Chosen One has risen again!', she exclaimed, giving orders to have her plane started and prepared to leave for Metroburg.

At the Superheroes' Council…

'Sir, the statues, they-they started glowing, uhm…', a young pale man said, panting.

Superman jumped on his feet, in a worried manner.

'Get Batman and tell them to meet me in a small town called Hiddenville.', he said flying through an open window, without waiting for a reply.

Back at Hiddenville High…

Phoebe tried to throw Max on his back by using her telekinesis, but the Chosen One dodged it without problems.

'I knew that there was Darkness in you!', Max exclaimed angrily.

Phoebe hadn't got a moment to waste; every moment was crucial, and opening her mouth she blew over her brother, trying to freeze him. The result was quite different though as Max, predicting Phoebe's move, redirected the ice onto herself, making her slip on ice. Immediately, Max pinned her on the icy floor, making her scream from the shock she felt when her skin was pressed on cold surface.

Then, Max turned nonchalantly to the now embracing Campbell siblings, ready to end them once for all. But suddenly, he felt that something was penetrating his right shoulder and in seconds, he fell unconsciously on the floor, the sharp pieces of earth, ice and the balls of fire vanishing on instant and allowing the shocked siblings stand up. The hold of Phoebe disappeared too and soon she was standing up, too, still shuddering from the contact with ice. Max's twin looked around, trying to ignore the crowds of students glaring at her in wonder, secretly hoping that Cherry wasn't among them, searching for the shooter of the tiny arrow that contained the tranquillizer and then, she found him: standing in the entrance of Hiddenville High school was Superman, looking more disappointed than ever…

Some days later...

Phoebe threw herself on the bed in her room, pointing her eyes at the white ceiling, thinking about the past few days, that have been more or less like hell.

-Flashback-

'Look Cherry, I know I should've told you that i have superpowers but my parents-'

'That's so cool!', Cherry exclaimed, taking Phoebe's hands into hers. 'What powers do you have?'

Phoebe smiled, feeling that the blue sofa in the Thundermans' sitting room was more comfortable than ever; she was so excited to finally tell Cherry everything!

'Well, I have three or four abilities, like heat breath, ice breath, telekinesis, you know.', she replied, trying to sound nonchalant.

'Does everyone in your family have superpowers?!', Cherry asked, getting more excited than before.

Phoebe nodded.

'Then, uhm...', the blonde girl started to say, her cheeks reddening slightly. 'Then what superpowers does Max have?'

Phoebe looked at Cherry attentively before replying: 'Well, I'm not sure, he has about fourteen or fifteen discovered, I don't know them all...',

-Back to the present-

Pitifully not all her school-mates proved as understanding and tolerant as Cherry did. Phoebe had been called superfreak, monster and psycho several times since people found out the truth about her and Max, that she wasn't even able to count the occurrences. And of course, Cole broke up with her, although Phoebe couldn't blame him; after all, Max nearly killed him and his sister.

Her social life in Hiddenville has ended, and now she and her whole family had to return to Metroburg where luckily Hank got a job at the Superheroes' Council. And Max was to blame for all this! If there was a way to revenge on him...

Phoebe jumped off her bed, grabbing her iPhone in the process, starting to dial frenetically.

'Hey, Cherry!', she exclaimed loudly into the phone speaker. 'Can you come over in... let's say 5 minutes?'

'Sure. Why?', Cherry asked, without suspecting a thing.

'I have something super important to tell you... about Max!'

'I'M COMING!', Cherry had yelled and hung up.

Phoebe smirked.

'I'm counting on you to make the show!', Phoebe exclaimed, being sure that she had the best payback plan ever.
