Chapter 14: Setting up diffrent kind of dates
It had been 5 days since the whole truth telling and to be honest I've never been this happy. Girls even say that, I've gotten a major confidence boost I haven't been that good with guys I know but dealing with this whole thing has thaught me that I have stand up for myself too. It might actually been for the best that the first boyfriend I have is one I had to fight for, so that I appreciate him more than ever, I think even my mother realizes that. I had waited for whole week to Daniel to ask me out for the date he has planned, but nothing yet... We were sitting as usual at the coffeeshop... Just talking abaut our relationships, this time no fear or planning was going on...
" So what are you guys planning this weekend?" I asked
" Well Jack said that Monica can pick me to come to their place and they're gonna meet my parents too. So I guess thats pretty much my weekend, god I'm just so happy to be able openly date him finally..." Alex said
" Then why do you sound so nervous then? Or am I just imagining things?" I asked noticing that Alex was somewhat nervous under that happines
" I don't know... Everything you have told me abaut Monica just came to me last night when I talked with Jack, Is she really as bad as you make her sound, I mean abaut neatness and stuff?
" She can be a pain in the ass sometimes I know that, but I think that Jack, Erica and Chandler will try to make it as easy for you as possible. Don't worry abaut it so much just try to be without making a mess and you'll do just fine and don't get in the way if she wants to clean those are the 2 big things... And besides she has a small kid too, she does realize that house can't be 100% clean all the time and I don't think that Monica wants to freak out her sons first serious girlfriend." I said trying relax her
" I guess you're right. I guess I just got so nervous abaut our parents meeting and going there and everything. I just wish that my parents could have come last time... So enough abaut me, what abaut you Emma are you gonna be having a date this weekend or?" Alex asked me clearly trying get her mind of things.
" Well most certainly hope so, but it's not in my power this time you know... He will ask me out when he know what he wants to do. Hey and don't worry abaut it so much you see what happend with us last week now the same thing is gonna happen with you this weekend." I said as Dan walked behind me
" Well didn't know you were this eager... Would have ran the way here otherwise. Where did that shy girl that had to think everything twice before doing anything go?" Dan teased me
" Sorry that girl has left the building. What you see now is the true colours of her, I hope you still love her becouse she most certainly still loves you."
" Well is that girl available on friday perhaps like five, if I pick her up?"
" If you stop talking abaut me in third person I will be available then." I said getting annoyed abaut talking in third person
" Fine, you have admit it was pretty fun. So you're okay if I pick you up at five?" Dan asked
" Of course, didn't I say that if I'm okay with time I'm all yours. So what kind of date is this? I mean do I have to prepear to actually do something or can I just consentrate on looking good?Just so I know what to wear, don't tell me where we are going I want to keep it as a surprise."
" Well I would say prepear to do something... I want actually spend time with you, not just be with you. Was that enough info? And by the way Emma you look damn good as you are so don't worry abaut it so much."
" Hey I want to look good, since I finally can, you know put a little extra effort in to my looks. And yeah that was just the kind of answer I was looking for."
" I guess, I have something to look forward to then. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining if you look better than normal."
" Well that's good to know. I'm surprised if you don't go speechless when you see me... " I said with teasing voice
" Have to say that coming clean to your parents did miracles on you. Confident, full of energy and happy, I've been looking forward to see this side of you again." Dan said
" Again? Do you mean that you knew that I had this side hidden somewhere?" I asked
" Well I gaught a climpse of it when we first talked. When you realized who I am, you hid it pretty well, but I have known that you will find it again as soon as you can get your parents on your side... "
" Thanks for being there for me and waiting it to come out and for helping me"
" Anytime, you know that right? To be honest when I first thought the whole idea of talking to you I was pretty sure you wouldn't go out with me. When I realized how scared you were to know who I am, I thought you would run away. But after that, time after time you've shown me that you're one girl who is everything I want you to be. You're one of a kind you know that Emma."
" Hey we all are one of a kind there is no 2 people who are identical. I couldn't have gone through this last month without you. Just so you know I had a crush on you since the first moment I saw you. True that I was scared, but I knew that I wouldn't forgive myself if I let you go... But I think I have some shopping to do before tomorrow so if you guys don't mind I'll be leaving you. " I kissed Daniel and left
" Can't wait for tomorrow" Dan said to me
I left I had to pay visit to my mom to buy something for our date not knowing what to expect made it hard, but I knew that something would hit me so that I would know what I want. But I didn't know that girls continued the conversation with Dan after I left.
Daniels POV
" So what are you planning for Emma?" Girls asked pretty much instantly after Emma had left
" Well I have kind of a game night with good food and a little trip down memory lane..." I said
" Sounds like a plan to me. It doesn't need to be all fancy yet, just enjoy since you guys finally can, but isn't it a little early for a trip down memory lane? After all you've been going out for just over month and most of it you had to hide..." Alex asked
" That doesn't make the time any less special. We been through so much from finding who I am to convincing her parents, trust me I have a plan how to make it work. I want to make her a night to remember..."
" You're right this last month has been a life changing time for all of us. I never thought that I'd see Emma go head to head against her mother like that, even if it is for a boyfriend. That tells me that you're something special for her. Take good care of her whatever you're planning..." Jes said
" Of course I will don't worry abaut it. She means almost as much to me as you guys do to her. You guys have been her life untill now and I still want you guys be part of it, but as I said to Emma last weekend, all of your lifes are changing now. Just remember to take time for eachother too allright? "
"Maybe we should take a girls nightout at somepoint we haven't had one since the whole dating thing startted." Alex said
"Well I guess I'm off too still have couple things to set up before tomorrow so see you guys later and good luck with your date Alex" I said
" Thanks I'm probably gonna need it..." Alex said
I left, I knew that they probably would talk even more when I was gone.
Alex's POV
" So what's up with you Jes? You seem to be distracted by something, wanting to have a date on the weekend?" I asked little curious
" Well yeah I haven't had a official date with her yet and she has allready met my mom and you guys having dates of your own I'm begining to think that why not... Just not sure why she hasn't asked me..." Jes said
" Well you know that there is an easy fix for that right? Just ask her out take her to the movies and something it doesn't have to be any more complicated than that. I asked Jack out first and Emma asked Dan so why don't you ask Melissa?" I said
" You're right, why not I'm not hiding and wanting to go out with my girlfriend so why not... I just allways thought since she's so into me that she would ask me out at somepoint, but maybe she wants me to take the next step..." Jes said
" So you're gonna call her?"
" Actually I'm not gonna, I'll go visit her right now surprise her maybe even meet her parents who knows. So bye for now." Jes said and stormed out
Well that was new, girls just going with the feeling without that much thinking. I thought to my self and left too.
Emmas POV
My mom got her job back from Ralph Lauren pretty soon after she got back together with my father. She gives me to use her discount but only if I can tell her why I need it and I think this is the best excuse that I can have, besides I still had the money from my birthday so I couldn't have a better use for it than this. Everyone there allready knew me and pretty much knew what I wanted on the moment I step in..."
"Oh hi Emma, coming to shop I see. Your mother is in a meeting at the moment and it can take a while.. " A familiar clerk said
" Well could someone else show me around then? Of course I'll need my mom before I go out but I maybe could even use someone others opinion this time other than my moms." I said realizing that my mom maybe didn't agree with what I had in mind...
" You do realize that we have to run anything you want by your mom, don't you?" Clerk said
" Of course but I still can still check some stuff out right? So is someone else available or do I come later?" I asked
" How abaut our newest employee Rick you would be his first customer if you give us feedback of him we might give you discount without telling your mom..."
" Well sounds like a plan to me, he probably wants show what he can do so why not..." I said wanting get pretty much anyone expect my mom
" Well I'll call him" He said and moment later an obviously gay guy came to desk
" You called sir?" Rick said
" This is young ms. Emma Geller She wants to shop something for some upcoming event would you mind assisting her?"
" Not at all, but Geller any relation to the Rachel Geller who works here?" Rick asked
" Yes this is her daughter but don't take any preasure just becouse of that, just do what you normally do and you'll be fine."
" Of course, this way " Rick said
" Please, call me Emma" I said
" So Emma what can I do for you today?
" Well this may sound insane but I want to impress my boyfriend, you know maybe show a little more so do speak, but without showing too much." I said hoping that he would understand
" Well I think I know what you're looking for... Wait for a second" Rick went back and came with couple tops for me to try out
Ten minutes went by when I tried a top on I realized that it showed a little more than I origingally planed but it otherwise looked so good on me that I wanted to get guys opinion on it even if couldn't get it past my mom. Too bad that my mom had allready gotten out of the meeting and was wating for me outside.
" I don't know this might show a little more than I planed but you're a guy what do you think?" I asked as I came out of the fitting room
" I'd say it looks good on you, but don't you think that it shows a little much as you said?" My mom said
" Mom I'm not planning using it in church or anything like that this is more for the date."
" So Rick told me, I thought that Daniel eats from your hand pretty much. Why do you want to offer more?" My mom asked me
" What, I can't put little extra effort for my date with my boyfriend? I haven't been able to put any extra effort yet and you know why I want to celebrate of being finally able to date without fear."
" I don't say that you can't look good on your date. I'm totally fine with if you want show little more, even that is somewhat acceptable but the real question is, do you feel good? Just looking good is not enough, if you don't feel good inside too..." Mom said and I startted to see the point
" You're making a good point I should think abaut myself too. I thought you were resisting just becouse, but you're actually making a point now. Do you have something in mind that might fit a little better?" I said
" Well you've gotta remember now, that I'm at work, this is what I do. I cant be against something just becouse, I don't want you to wear it, now if I think that you shouldn't wear something then I have to have a reason for it... Well I'll go check if I find something that might serve a little better your purpose" Mom left and went checking something
" I'm sorry Emma I couldn't hold her..." Rick came back
" Hey don't worry abaut it, I know how to handle my mom." I said back
" That's good and that top looks good on you too..." Rick said
" Yeah but it just doesn't feel something I would like to wear, sorry abaut that"
" Don't you worry abaut it I'm sure we can find something for your date..."
" How abaut one of these?" My mom said coming from the back with couple more ideas
" Well you clearly gaught the idea what I had in mind, so I'll be right back" I said going back to fitting room. But my mom and Rick took couple steps back and continued talking without me hearing it
" I know I'm gay and its none of my business, but what has she done to her boyfriend that she needs to impress him? I would say that she could wear just abaut anything and she would impress any straight guy." Rick asked from my mom
" She's just nervous since she first time has to face him alone. Untill now she have had allways friends to back her up, I guess she wants to find a little more confidence by showing a little more and so on, of course I have a little plan to mix things up a little. She has never been that good with guys and lets just say, I didn't make it easy for her to date this guy either." Mom said
" I wouldn't be so sure abaut that she seems to know what she wants and she doesn't just want to show off, but she cares abaut her looks. There is more to this than there is to the eye I would say. She seems to be confident, she seems want just a little upgrade for her looks for her date. But if you haven't made it easy for her yet why do keep teasing her?" Rick asked confused
" I will give them everything they're gonna need for a succesful date but they are gonna do it a little diffrently than they have planed..." Mom said
" Well not my business anyways but I'd say that take it easy on them they shouldn't be put trough so much..."
" I will but this came badly out of nowhere that I don't have a choice..." My mom began
" Choice of what?" I asked coming with the best top out of the three she gave me to try
" Well... I kinda need you to cancel out on your date tomorrow..." Mom began clearly upset
" You can't be serious, you know how long I have waited for this. That's the reason I came to here too. What's the excuse? Better be a good one before I even consider canceling. And why couldn't you tell earlier?" I asked getting seriously pissed off
" First of all I only found out today that I need you to babysit for Jake tomorrow, Phoebe and Mike have a date of their own and you know allready that Alex is gonna go over at Monicas so I don't want to even ask them and your dad is out of town untill late night also. Emma I wouldn't ask if you weren't my last hope... I'm not asking you to stop seeing him I just need you guys to rescheculde your date. Your next date is on me if you take this..." Mom said pretty upset
" Well I guess I can't leave you in trouble. But you owe me big time for this... Could we say that this top and new pair of jeans is on you too?" I asked
" Well I guess, I really have no choice so you have yourself a deal... By the way that top looks amazing on you" Mom said abaut my black and pink top , to be honest I've never been such a big fan of pink but this looked so good on me that I decided to make an exception.
" Too bad that I can't wear it tomorrow..." I said
" Don't be so sure abaut it " my mom mumbled so quietlly that I couldn't hear
" Did you say something?" I asked
" No nothing at all, see you at home, honey. Love you." Mom said as I left
" Love you too" I said and left
I left and of course realized that I need to call to Dan, I thought that there is something going on but decided to let it go for now
" ...Yeah of course I understand, you can't leave your mom to trouble like this, how abaut next friday then? Same time?" Dan asked as we talked
" Sounds like a plan to me. But lets try to see at the weekend too, okay? I don't want it to be complite disaster. I love you" I said
" Hey love you too, don't be so harsh on your mom I'm sure she didn't want to do this, otherwise she wouldn't have offer those things. but bye for and yeah lets try to catch up weekend." Dan said hanging up the phone
Jessicas POV
I was pretty much as scared as possible but I knew that I wanted to do this. Melissa wasn't in the closet as far as I knew so if I happend to run to her parents then just introductions and that was that... Well atleast in theory that was how easy it was... I just hoped that everything would go allright. So I arrived at Melissas place...
" Yes, can I help you with something?" Woman asked me I regocnized her as Melissas mom we haven't talked much so I understood that she won't regognize me
" Well most certainly hope so, I'm looking for Melissa, am I at the right place? Name is Jessica Miller " I introduced myself
" You are at the right place, hey now I regognize you, you go to judo with Melissa don't you? Well come in I'll get her for you." Her mom said clearly a little confused what I was doing there
" Thank you, sorry didn't catch your first name?" I decided that Melissa can tell what's going on
" Oh sorry abaut that, please call me Rita. Can I ask what the visit is abaut?" She said happily
" Well if you don't know, then your daughter will tell you if you get her here..." I said
" Okay, Melissa you have a visitor." Her mom shouted
" Okay, I'm coming who... Oh hi Jessica didn't expect you" Melissa came out of her room and stopped
" Well hi there, well decided to stop by. I just introduced myself and was kind of surprised that she didn't know me any better than just from judo..." I said trying to tease a little
" Well you know I didn't expect you to come here, but if you want to tell her then go right a head. Or should we maybe talk private first outside?" Melissa said a little confused
" Trying to call my bluff with a bad hand are you? Well I say your call, if you want to fill me in first then of course, but if you want me to tell I'm okay with that too I'm not scared. You should know that..." I said realizing she thought that I'm still scared
" Fine lets go have a little walk shall we, be back in a moment" Melissa said to her mom
" So what was that all abaut you haven't told your mother that we're dating?" I asked with a little curiousity
" Well no, she does know though that I am keeping an open mind so do speak abaut dating. I just didn't expect you to come visit me like this I haven't done this to you, you know? " Melissa asked
" You know it's kind of two faced to ask me to be honest to my mom and friends and not to tell your own mom. I'm not blaming you just saying. Your mother seems like nice person and if she knows that you have an open mind as you put it, then I see no problem of telling her." I said
" Yeah well I wanted you to know before we tell, if you think I'm hiding by coming here then think again I just wanted fill you in."
" Well that's what I expected to be honest I didn't think that you're hiding. Just wondering. By the way, do you want to know why I came in the first place becouse I didn't just come to meet your mom..." I said getting little nervous
" Well please tell me, I do have one idea you might come for, but I want to hear it from you since you want to do it."
" Well I wanted to ask you out, you know movie maybe some food you know the basics, dont you?" I asked nervously
" Well I guess my mothers precence got you little nervous, but to be honest it's good to see that you haven't lost your courage anywhere and of course I was thinking abaut calling you later abaut same thing but you got to do it and I'm happy that you did, so any ideas what could we watch?" Melissa asked
" Trust me, after everything you've but me through I'm not that easily scared. Well to be honest haven't been checking for a while that what goes on nowdays on the theaters. I guess you can choose since I asked, right?" I asked not sure what she would answer
" Fine by me my place is also empty if you want to come over afterwards... I'll check something for us anything you definetly dont wanna watch?"
" Nothing too violent or over romantic otherwise I can watch pretty much anything" I assured
" Well our taste isn't that much diffrent, I see what can I do and call you, okay?" Melissa said and startted to walk away
" Erhm, Melissa aren't you forgetting something?" I asked
" Like what exactly? Oh yeah love you and see you later" Melissa asked clearly a little scared
" Okay I don't need Emma to see that something is bothering you... I trusted you when I needed to tell my mom now I want to know what's going on. Talk to me, I know that you've done this before but you're scared but abaut what." I said
" I-I just, I mean you are allways thinking everything as your next challenge you're scared at first but when it comes to the real situation you just go with the flow. When you kissed me in front of Emma and rest of the coffeeshop or now you just took my challenge of meeting my mom like it was nothing. While the truth is that my mother knows that I may be dating a girl but. I'm still scared to death... I want to be with you, I just didn't think that you would use my own weapons against me." Melissa said putting her head to my shoulder
" Melissa... Look at me, do you think that I'm not scared? Do you think I haven't been scared abaut the whole thing. You just can't give in to fear that's all. If Emma has taught me anything it's that fear gives us power it makes us think more. I've learned to think much more than I ever did thanks to you. I even outsmarted Emma for long time. We all fear but we can't let fear control us. Let's go meet your mom, okay?" I said trying to comfort her
" Fine lets go I want to get this over with." Melissa said
" So you're ready?"
" As ready as I will ever be. You weren't ready and you managed to pull it off so why not. Mom we are back." She shouted and my heart startted pounding of my chest
" Well took you girls long enough, I guess you had more to talk than originally planed. So what did you want to tell me?" She said looking like she would allready know
" Well I trust that Jess allready introuduced herself, but she's not just my friend and a great judo rival she also my girlfriend now..." Melissa had clearly won some of her fear
" Is this true? Not surprising for Melissa but I never thought you would be too..." Rita said to me
" It is true and trust me you're not the first one who said that they never thought me as one too. I kept the idea complitely insane too when Melissa first talked me abaut it... But after that its been pretty clear that I want to be with your daughter" I said
" Well I have nothing against it you should know it Melissa... So how long has this been going on?" Rita asked us
" Well abaut month and a half, we have been playing around eachother couple weeks she has used all her energy to get me out of the closet. But we haven't had a real date yet but we're planing on changing that tomorrow" I said proudly
" Well I say good luck on you two, but why didn't you tell me didn't the whole Rose thing thought you anything. You lost one girl allready becouse you didn't want to tell me..." Rita began
" To be honest I wouldn't have told you either before last weekend. I've been more of a reason to I have been affraid, but now that I know that my mom is somewhat okay with this I'm not holding back anymore." I Said
We talked just abaut anything and everything and filled the whole story to Melissas mom too. She was sure that we will make an awesome couple so she had nothing against us. We still had to decide what to watch tomorrow but to be honest I didn't care anymore I just wanted to be with Melissa everything else was just irrelevant
Okay maybe should seriously try to cut these chapters a bit. Decided to make this pre date thing to its own thing so don't worry we will continue next time with: The one with diffrent kind of dates
