Months later

Sarah couldn't believe it was their six month anniversary. It had been hard when Adam first came back to work because they hadn't told anyone they were together. It had been weird between Taven and Adam because Taven had still been trying to win her over at first. But after a huge fight backstage and threats from McGuiness the two men had finally came to a truce. Tensions were still high between the two and Sarah felt bad because if it wasn't for her the two friends wouldn't be fighting.

"Babe?"

"Yes?"

Sarah was waiting for Adam to get dressed. They were in San Antonio for the next few days so they were going out to celebrate after the matches. She hadn't said anything about her feelings but Adam could tell something was bugging her. Even though Taven and he had made up she was still distant when Taven was around. Tonight was no different.

"What's wrong, Sarah?" He asked as he laced up his boots.

"Nothing. Why?" Sarah said slipping her Kingdom tee over her head.

Adam sighed as he stood up and made sure he had everything. "Because Taven comes around and you turn into the turtle girl or something."

"The turtle girl?"

"Yeah like you retreat."

Can we talk about this later? You go on in about five minutes." She handed him a bottle of water.

"Thanks. And I guess so."

Adam's match was a dark match and for that he was grateful it meant he didn't have to hold back. He wasn't in the mood to hold back and in the dark matches he didn't have to hold back to lose most of the time. He was fighting a newer kid by the name of Americos. The kid was pretty good but Adam knew he was better and tonight he didn't feel like teaching the new guy a thing or two the match went hard and fast. Sarah was standing in the back watching the monitor with the rest of Kingdom.

"Damn! That had to hurt!" Bennett said.

Taven and Maria commented about Adam's attitude change and she knew it was because of her. So much for a good time tonight. Sarah sighed and faked having to go to the bathroom only to go left not right to meet up with Adam before he got to the door.

"Why did you do that?" She referred to Adam slamming Americos' head into the ring post.

"He'll be fine." Adam threw his arm around her shoulders. "Come on."

"Adam." Sarah sighed. There was no talking sense into him when he was in this mood.

Americos' was backstage and came up to Adam. The kid was a good wrestler but Sarah wondered if the boy had any brains! He pushed into Adams and Adam lightly pushed Sarah away from his side.

"What the hell is your problem, Cole?" Americos pushed at his chest again.

"Chill out, man. It's just the ring."

"Fuck you Cole!"

Pop! Americos punched Adam square in the jaw. Sarah gasped and slapped her hand over her mouth to keep from screaming. Adam put a hand up to the red mark and rubbed it. His smile would have confused most normal people but not Sarah or Americos.

"Feel better" He said pulling Sarah back to him.

"Fuck you, Cole." Americos walked off.

Adam shook his head. "That kid can hit." He started laughing. "And take one too."

"Adam!" Sarah laughed. "You're horrible. Do you feel better now?"

He slipped a hand under her chin and lifted her head to look at him. "I still don't know what is wrong with you but I love you so I can deal."

She cuddled into his side. "Love you too. And I think I get it now."

A few hours later they were getting ready to leave when Adam thought about what Sarah had said. What did she mean? Get what? He heard his name being called. He turned to see a few fans waving at him. So he stopped and took a few pictures with them. When Sarah and Maria came out they waved and let the fans get a few pictures before they finally got away. Adam didn't really get annoyed by fans that much but one guy just couldn't seem to take a hint and Sarah being Sarah didn't want to be rude and Maria just looked a little scared and for once in her life didn't say anything. Adam looked at Matt and winked. Michael had gone to get the car out the back door so it was up to them to save the girls.

"Time to go girly." Taven said basically pushed between Maria and the guy.

"Yep. Sorry guys. We gotta be somewhere else." Adam said pushing his way between the guy and Sarah.

But no expected the man to pull a knife and grab Sarah before Adam had a chance to pull her away. Someone screamed and the guy shouted for them to shut up. Sarah had good reflexes and Adam been teaching her some karate. That mixed with the skill she already had saved her mainly because she had instinctively put her hands between herself and the arm with the knife. Adam would have laughed at the very pissed off and annoyed look that crossed her face if he hadn't been in shock.

"Dude! What the hell?" Sarah almost screamed.

"Imma gonna take you with me, little lady."

Sarah balched. What?!" She squawked.

The man tried to force her hands away from his knife welding arm. Sarah held on tighter and waited for someone to do something. It was all surreal and the longer it went on the more she started to fear for her life.

"What do you want, man?" She heard Adam ask calmly and tried to focus on him.

"You took my wife!" The big man said tightening his arm around Sarah's throat.

She felt the sharp end of the knife poke into the side of her neck. Nobody could help her, she realized. She looked at her friends all of them were fighters and they looked as helpless as she felt. Sarah found Adam, he was the closet, her eyes met his and she realized there was no way she was going to die and not tell him how she felt about him.

She knew she could save herself. She had too. The cops she realized just wanted to talk him into letting her go and that was just getting her throat squeezed more and more. Fuck it, she thought. She sent up a quick prayer and acted. And elbow to the man's gut and a heel to his right foot allowed her enough time and space to execute a perfect hip toss. The guy landed hard but not before catching Sarah just below her left ear with the blade. She hissed and kicked him for the hell of it.

"Sarah!" Maria yelled and grabbed her in a bear hug.

The cops stood still as if they didn't know what to do. The man, latter known as Bob Lanley, tried to get back up and grab at Sarah again but Maria pulled her away while Adam and Mike took hold of Bob just in time.

"Hey guys this is where you come in." Matt informed the cops sending them into action.

Before long Bob Lanley was in the back of a cop car with his ex-wife screaming like a banshee at him and Sarah was safe in Adam's arms getting her neck looked at.

"It doesn't look to deep and you shouldn't have a scare. I'm going to clean it up now and I have a pain shot if you want it. You should probably go to the doctor and get a tetanus shot but until you can I'd go to the drug store, it's actually down the block and open all night and get some antiseptic and some bandages."

"Okay thanks." She told the medic.

Sarah jumped when she heard Bob's screaming back at his wife and Adam. Adam responded by squeezing her hand. "It's okay Baby. The guy is crazy and we won't have to deal with him again, I promise."

"Okay all done. Did you want the shot?" The medic asked as Maria and Mike walked up.

"No I'm fine. Thanks."

The medic reminded her about the drug store and Adam promised him they would stop on their way to the hotel. Maria hugged her again and Mike said something about how awesome she was but she was too busy wondering when she and Adam would be alone so she could tell him her feelings. They had shared car so it wouldn't be any time soon.
