"I bought this for our baby the day I realized I was in love with you and that I wanted to be a father to our baby," I whispered as I put the box in her shaking hands.

She opened the box and let out a breath as she took out the 14K gold designer baby bracelet. It had two birthstones peridot and sardonyx for when the baby was due in august, with a triple A grade round cultured pearls.

She looked up at me, her eyes shining with tears and threw her arms around me. I held her close as she cried. When she pulled away, I gently wiped away her tears with my thumb.

"Bella I have a lot to make up for but will you give me that chance by allowing me to be a part of both yours and our baby's life? Even if it is only as friends," I asked, I waited breathlessly for her answer.

Chapter 18

BPOV

Edward continued to sit across from me as the both of us cried our eyes out over his bitch of an ex. After hearing what he had to say, I realized that when he found out I was pregnant he must have felt betrayed and thought his past was catching up with him again. I look at him now and see the man that I fell in love with in Seattle nineteen weeks ago, but there was too much hurt on both sides for us to simply forget and move on.

He handed me a box and told me that he had bought a present for our baby. A fresh batch of tears came to my eyes as I opened the box, my hands continued shook as a beautiful designer baby bracelet was revealed. It was made with cultured pearls and the birthstones for when our baby was due. It was the single most beautiful thing I had ever seen and it meant even more as it came from Edward's heart.

I looked at him with tears falling from my eyes as he said the words that I had been both dreading and hoping for.

"Bella I have a lot to make up for, but will you give me the chance to do so by allowing me to be a part of both our baby's life and yours? Even if it is only as friends," he asked breathlessly.

I looked at him, stunned, unable to say a word I looked over to where Alice and Jasper were sitting by the water fountain before turning back to Edward.

"Edward, you just told me about your disturbing past and what you had been through with your ex-girlfriend. That past is the reason why we are where we are now. I know that I want you in our lives but there will be conditions. I cannot forgive and forget overnight. It will take time and if you are serious about your feelings for us then you will need to work for that forgiveness. You need to prove to me that your whoring days are behind you and that you want us. The interview was a step in the right direction, but actions are louder than words."

I paused to take a breath before I continued.

"What I suggest is that we start off by simply been two people who know each other. Two people who say hello or even have a quick chat if we bump into each other in the street or in our case if we see each other through friends. Slowly we can build up to being acquaintances whom have coffee or lunch sometimes. From there we can try to be friends and see how it goes. You must be honest with me about everything, but if I find out that you have lied about anything, have been with one of your whores or went back to your old ways for even a second during this time of getting to know each other then all bets are off and we'll go our separate ways," I said seriously.

I stood up and looked him straight in the eyes.

"I do not trust you after everything you have put me through, but I do believe that you are been genuine and that is the only reason I am giving you this chance to prove yourself. Do you accept these conditions," I asked as I put my hand out to shake his.

He took my hand and held it while he looked deep into my eyes.

"I wish that it could be different but I do accept these conditions. I will prove to you that the love I have for you and our baby are true. I promise you that I will not let you down," he said sadly.

He continued to hold my hand as if he was afraid I would disappear if he let go. He looked at me with so much sorrow, sadness and love that it took my breath away. We continued to gaze into each others eyes without speaking any words for a while before a throat cleared behind us.

I looked back to find Jasper and Alice standing there with amused smirks on their faces. Edward looked down at our joined hands which were still tightly clasped and quickly pulled away, his face flushing bright red.

"Yeah- erm- well," Edward stuttered.

Jasper laughed while looking between Edward and I.

"Don't worry, I can see how it went and I could not be happier. However Esme rang and she was wondering what was going on and if we would be back in time for dinner," he smiled.

Jasper and Edward looked at each other while having their own silent conversation and Edward looked from Jasper to me and back to Jasper again and nodded his head.

"I think that it would be best for me to go," he said sadly and looked at me before taking my hand.

"Remember what I said. I love you and our baby. There will be no one else. You are it for me and I will do whatever you need me to do to earn your love and trust," he said.

He leaned forward and gave me a chaste kiss on the cheek. He then smiled at Alice and Jasper before walking away. I watched him walk away, feeling so over welmed by everything he had told me.

EPOV

Walking out of the park and away from Bella was the hardest thing that I had ever done in my life. But I felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders and I knew that she was scared after everything I had told her.

I also knew that I would have my work cut out for me to try to win her trust back, but no matter what there would never be another for me and I would go to the ends of the earth to have her and our baby in my life.

As I continued to walk I realised that I had never asked her about Jacob. I saw how pale she went and how scared she got when I mentioned him. I made a mental note to ask her if and how she knew him. I just hoped that the bastard had never hurt her in anyway. If he did, then I would make sure that he felt every ounce of the pain that I felt after everything that went down with Emily.

As soon as I got into my car I started driving, to god knows where. All I wanted to do was go somewhere and think about what my plan of action would be. As I drove around the city, randomly turning, fate stopped me right outside My Little Dimples on Beverely Drive. I had always thought that the store had everything and anything that a baby would need.

I quickly put my car in park and walked into the store. I noticed that a few people recognised me, but I didn't give a shit as I felt like I was on a mission. I started looking at a few dresses, wondering if Bella was carrying a boy or a girl. I decided to get a few things for both, at least that way I would be prepared. I got so lost in my thoughts that I never saw the most annoying bitch that ever walked the planet come up to me until she started talking.

"Hi Eddie," she said in her annoying nasally voice.

I rolled my eyes at the sound of her voice and turned to face her.

"Hello Tanya," I answered in a bored tone.

She looked around the store with a scowl on her face.

"Baby, what are you doing in here amongst the baby clothes," she asked a sugary sweet voice.

I kept backing away from her, but whenever I to a step back she moved closer.

"Tanya, for one I am not your baby. Two, the love of my life is having our baby so I am shopping for baby clothes," I said in a strong voice.

Tanya started laughing so loud that I had the urge to cover my ears.

"Oh Eddie you always knew how to make me laugh," she giggled.

I was going to tell her that I was not joking, however she continued before I could get a word in edgewise.

"I saw the TV interview and trust me when I tell you that you do not need to pretend with me. You are not daddy material and you're certainly not the kind of guy who can have a relationship. Believe me baby we are too much a like and I know what you like, not your baby mama," she purred, putting her hand on my chest. I looked down at where her hand was in disgust and shoved it off me. I looked at her, feeling my temper rising.

"Tanya, keep your diseased paws off me. And for your information, Bella Swan is the girl for me and I am so lucky that she is carrying my baby. I am the luckiest guy in the world right now and I am not going to ruin it over a washed up, skanky, no good whore like yourself," I smirked.

She huffed and turned to leave the store, but not before saying one last thing.

"Eddie when you are fed up of playing daddy, call me," she said and started to walk out of the store.

"Tanya," I yelled after her. She stopped and turned to face me with a smug smile on her face.

"My name is Edward not Eddie. The only people who can call me that are people that I like and you are certainly not one of those," I said with a smirk.

Her face turned red as she ran from the store.

I sighed in relief, hoping that I had seen the last of her before going back and examining the boys and girls baby clothes that would look perfect on my son or daughter.

BPOV

It has been two days since I had seen Edward in the park and I could not stop thinking about him. I knew that we had a long way to go before he would have my trust again but I wished that he had never destroyed it in the first place.

Today was the day that we were to move into Esme and Carlisle's Malibu home and I was to have my twenty-week scan with Elizabeth Masen on Friday, which was three days away.

I wished that there was some way for me to let Edward know, so that he could be there for my scan. I wanted him to see our baby, but without me having to contact him and let him know. He did have a right to be there but Elizabeth Masen was under patient/doctor confidentiality so she couldn't tell him. Jasper and Alice thought that I should swallow my pride and ask him myself.

I stretched in the luxurious bed and looked at the clock on my bedside table which was flashing 10.15 am. I got out of bed and threw on my dressing gown as Alice came storming into my room.

"Hello sleepy head! I hope that you are all packed and ready to move," she joked.

I ignored her, walked past her and headed straight for the bathroom to have a shower. I stood under the boiling hot water, thinking about Edward, wondering what he was doing and if he was even thinking about us.

I was so lost in my thoughts that I did not realize the water had run cold until I started shivering. I quickly got out of the shower and threw a bathrobe on over my shivering naked body.

When I went back into my bedroom I found Alice gone but a pair of denim shorts, a black tank top on my bed and a pair of white flat sandals on the ground next to the bed.

Fifteen minutes later I was dressed and ready to start the day. I walked into the kitchen to find Jasper and Alec arguing about which cereal was the best, Lucky Charms or Fruit Loops. I had to laugh at their childish ways. I sat down opposite them and Esme placed a cheese omelet in front of me.

"Bon appetit," she said, before turning to the counter and making a fresh batch of coffee. I noticed from the corner of my eye that Jasper was grinning at me. I looked over at him, squinting my eyes as I tried to figure out what he was grinning about.

"What are you thinking about Jazz? What do you want to say to me?"

He continued to look at me with a devilish smile on his face.

"So today is the day of the big move huh," he asked grinning like a nut.

I nodded as I shoved a big piece of egg into my mouth.

"You never know who you might bump into in that part of Malibu," he continued to grin wickedly. I noticed Alec giving Jasper a small smile at his comment.

"What the fuck are the two of you idiots grinning about? Is there something going on that I should fucking know about?"

"ISABELLA SWAN. LANGUAGE." Esme yelled.

The two idiots continued to grin at me but decided to not say anything. In the end, I got fed up of the two of them and stormed out of the kitchen to go up to my bedroom. Alice was already there, putting all my clothes into suitcases. I went over to the bed and sat down in a huff as I looked at Alice with a frown on my face.

"Ali, do you know what is going on with idiot one and idiot two ? They were down in the kitchen looking at me with big goofy grins on their faces, as if they knew something that I didn't know. Do you know what they are hiding from me?"

Alice sat down next to me a sigh and looked at me with an apology written all over her face.

"Yeah I do know what is on their minds and no I can't tell you. I'm sorry but I'm sworn to secrecy. All I can tell you is that when you find out, it will be worth it," she said.

I sighed in frustration, knowing that whenever Alice was sworn to secrecy about no amount of nagging would make her break her promise. I kept my mouth shut as I helped her pack my belongings so that we could make the move to our new home with Esme and Carlisle.

Later that afternoon, Alice and I pulled up outside of 31012 Broad Beach Road with Jasper and Alec right behind us. Esme and Carlisle had driven themselves. As soon as I got out of the car I noticed Alice nervously looking at the Beach house down the road from us.

I looked at her in concern, asking her if she was alright. Before she could say anything, Jasper and Alec had pulled up in the Jeep and started unloading boxes. Jasper went over to Alice and started talking to her in hushed tones. When she shook her head at something Jasper asked her, he gave her a tender smile and kissed her before walking towards the beach house that Alice had been looking at, Alec following him closely.

I went over to Alice with my arms folded across my chest as I stared her down.

"What the fuck was all that about Alice? What the fuck is going on?"

She was about to answer me but stopped as we saw Alec and Jasper come back with a third person. I felt like every breath left my body when I saw who it was, with his unruly hair and crooked smile he was unmistakable.

Edward

He walked over to me with his famous grin plastered on his face.

"Wha-What are you do-doing here?" I stuttered.

I'm sure that my face must have been quite a picture because he laughed out loud at the sight of it, but he quickly stopped when he saw that I meant business.

"Sorry Bella, I just had to laugh at the look on your face. You looked furious but adorable at the same time. To answer your question, I remember your conditions and thought that I would simply bump into you and help you, Alice and her parents move in your stuff."

He paused and started to look a little nervous.

"You may as well know that I own and live in that Beach house," he said, pointing at the beach house that Alice had been looking at earlier.

My face flushed blood red at the thought that we were now neighbors and I suddenly forgot to breathe.

Edward continued to look at me as he gave me the crooked smile that I love so much.

"So I guess that makes us neighbors huh?" he grinned, picking up a box before taking it in the house as he hummed the theme song from the Australian soap Neighbors.

I burst out laughing at how goofy his voice sounded.

Esme and Carlisle pulled up outside the house five minutes later with the last of our belongings. I noticed that they did not look particularly happy at the sight of Edward helping, but they decided to bite their tongue and not say a word as Carlisle started moving the rest of our stuff in while Esme went straight for the kitchen to make lunch for everybody.

One hour later everything was moved in the house, my belongings were up in my new room waiting to be unpacked and Esme was setting the table on the patio for lunch. I noticed that Carlisle and Edward had disappeared at the same time only to rejoin us fifteen minutes later. Edward looked like he had been truly grilled by Carlisle and that thought made me smile, knowing that no matter what Esme and Carlisle would always have my back.

We all went out to the patio, sat at the table while Esme served up a cold meat salad and ice tea.

"So Bella, are you all set for your doctor's appointment with Elizabeth on Friday?" she asked while looking at Edward. Edward sat there in stunned silence with his fork half way to his mouth. He shook his head to get himself out of his daze and turned to face me.

"What is this appointment for Bella? Is there anything I should know? Is the baby alright?" he asked worried.

I shook my head and whispered, "It is only my twenty-week check up to make sure that the baby is doing alright."

He shoved the fork full of salad into his mouth as he continued to look at me.

"Can I come to the appointment with you?" he asked nervously.

I looked into his eyes and what I saw there made me gasp. His eyes shined with love and devotion. I knew all along that I wanted him to be there at my appointment, to see our baby with me for the first time, but suddenly it hit me that I also had to give him this chance to be the father that he so obviously wanted to be.

"Yes, I would love to have you there. The appointment is for two o'clock with your mother at the Westside pregnancy clinic," I told him.

He started to relax a little as he continued to look lovingly at me.

EPOV

It had been three days since Bella moved into the beach house a few doors down from me. I would never forget the feeling that I had when Jasper rang me five days ago, the evening before Bella and I met in the park. When he told me that not only was Bella moving to a beach home in Malibu with Alice and her parents but that it was the beach home only four doors from me I was giddy with the excitement. Bella and I being neighbors would triple our chances of bumping into each other. I hated the rules that she had set in a effort for us to be together, but I knew that they were there for a reason and that the reason was for Bella to build her to trust in me so that I could be in both our baby's and her life.

It was finally the morning of the ultrasound and I would be lying if I said that I wasn't excited, in fact I could barely stand still. After everything that had happened with Emily, I did not think that I would ever trust another girl to have my baby. After a very bad start the girl of my dreams was not only carrying my baby, but I had also fallen in love with her and I could not see a life without her by my side. Thinking back on everything that I had done since I was sixteen, with all the girls, it seemed empty now that I had Bella and our baby on the way. For the first time in my life, I feel dirty and disgusted with my past and myself.

When I was helping Bella move her stuff into the beach house, I was not surprised to have Carlisle Cullen pulled me into his office for a man to man chat.

Flashback

Carlisle told me to go into his office before him. As soon as I was inside, I heard the door lock behind me. He turned to face me with the look of a father trying to protect his little girl.

"Edward I have a few things to say to you and I don't want you to say a word until I am finished."

"First is that Bella might not be my daughter by blood but for all intents and purposes she is my daughter and that baby that she is carrying is my grandchild. I know that you and Bella spoke the other day and came to an agreement. I am not happy about you being in Bella's life but I have to respect her decision."

"Second, even though I am not happy with you in Bella's life I have to respect the fact that you admitted that you made a mistake and are willing to be responsible and a father to that little baby."

"Lastly, I swear that if you ever hurt either one of them I will find you and things will not be very pretty for you when I do."

I stood there while Carlisle made his speech. Even though he was threatening me, I was happy that Bella had a family who would help her, care for her and were willing to stand up for her. I felt sick at the thought of ever hurting Bella again and decided that now was the time to assure Carlisle that I was in this for the long haul.

"Mr Cullen, I appreciate everything that you have done for Bella and our baby. I feel the need to tell you that if I ever did hurt her, I would willingly go to you so that you could make me pay. I love Bella and our baby more than my own life and there is nothing that I wouldn't do for them. Everything that happened in the past will be staying right where I want it to stay, in the past. All I can do now is show Bella and our baby how much I love them for the rest of my life and make sure that they know that they are the most important things to me," I said tearfully.

Carlisle surprised me by smiling and slapping me on my shoulder.

"That is all that I wanted to hear. It was one thing to hear it in an interview, it is another for you to say it to my face," he smiled.

He went over and opened the door.

"Come on, they will all be wondering where we are," he said, walking out the door.

End Flashback

As I was reliving my chat with Carlisle Cullen it came to my attention that it was one pm, it usually takes me forty five minutes to drive to my mothers office.

I am usually on top of things but since Sam and Seth went home for a visit, everything has been completely disorganized.

I quickly jumped in the shower for the shortest shower known to man kind before I got dressed and headed to my mother's office to see my beloved Bella and baby.

One hour and ten minutes later, I finally made it to Westside pregnancy clinic. I walked straight in through the doors and rolled my eyes when I saw Sandy sitting behind the receptionist desk. Her face lit up the second that she saw me and I felt nauseous.

"Hi Edward, give me a few minutes and I will get someone to cover for me," she flirted.

I felt like I was going to throw up, knowing that this was the kind of life I used to live and these were the kind of girls that I had spent my time with. Well not anymore I don't, not when I have a beautiful angel like my Bella waiting for me.

"Thanks but no thanks Sandy. The mother of my child has an appointment with my mother, can you tell me if Isabella Swan is in there with her?" I asked, not bothering to throw any punches.

Sandy looked back at me with fury and anger flashing in her eyes but looked through the appointment book anyway.

"Yes there is a plain, ugly looking whore in there with her so if that is the kind of company you are keeping these days then it won't be long before you come back to me," she spat spitefully.

I saw red when she said those unkind things about my Bella.

"You little slutty bitch. How dare you say those things about my girl. She has more class, beauty and grace than you could dream of having. You obviously do not like your job here very much because trust me, you will not have one by the time I leave here today," I spat, my voice laced with venom as I walked past her to enter to the examination room.

I went straight in and was welcomed by the most beautiful sight in the world. My Bella was lying there while my mother put jelly on her swollen stomach. The both of them looked my way and I did not know who was happier to see me, Bella or my mother.

"You are just in time for the show," my mother said, waving me over.

I walked over and took Bella's hand in mine as my mother put the wand over Bella's stomach. Suddenly a noise filled the room.

My baby's heartbeat.

I looked at the screen with tears running down my face before I looked down at Bella who was not doing much better than I was as mum pointed everything out.

"Do you want to know the sex," she asked with a grin.

I looked at Bella to see what she wanted, she looked at me and nodded.

I looked over at my mother and said, "Yes mum, we would like to know," I said tearfully.

My mother's grin got even wider.

"Well the baby here is..."
