Previously

We were suddenly broken out of our daze when we heard a loud cough. I looked towards the footpath to find Alice and Jasper watching us with amused looks on their faces. The person that was with them that looked like he wanted to pull my head off of my body and use it as a football was Bella's brother, Alec. I thought that now would be as good a time as ever to leave. I turned to Bella and shoved a card with the number of the cell phone that I had bought, specifically for anything baby related, into her hand.

"Remember anytime you need anything, day or night, ring me,"I whispered in her ear and gently kissed her earlobe before getting up.

I walked past the other three people who were staring at our little exchange.

"Guys, always a pleasure," I said, happily as I practically skipped down the road to my house.

I walked in through my front door and sighed in contentment. I flipped the light switch on and came face to face with a person that I had never wanted to see again.

Chapter 20

BPOV

I watched as Edward walked away heading towards his own home with a big grin on his face. I suddenly drifted into a dreamworld where everything was perfect with Edward, hopefully some day it would be. I was painfully unaware of my brother and friends standing around me until I felt a pinch on my left arm.

"So are you going to tell us what is going on or am I going to have to torture it out of you?" Alice squealed, jumping up and down. I started to feel dizzy simply watching her.

"Well, Edward and I decided to go slow in our relationship and he wants to do all the daddy things when it comes to our babies," I said enthusiastically.

Suddenly the three of them were looking at me shocked, their mouths wide open.

"What's wrong? Do I have ketchup on my face or spinach in my teeth," I asked while wiping my teeth with my index finger.

The three of them continued to stare at me and surprise, surprise, it was Alice that started talking first.

"Bella, did you just say babies? As in more than one," she asked.

"Shit," I muttered to myself. I wanted to tell everyone about the twins all at once with Edward by my side.

I was about to answer her when I heard a crash coming from a few houses down. I looked down to the house that the noise was coming from and saw a chair flying through a window. What frightened me was that the chair came flying out of Edward's window and I could clearly hear the shouting and screaming that followed.

Jasper looked at me and then went running towards Edward's house with Alice, Alec and I following closely behind.

We could hear some girl screaming and Edward telling her to get the fuck out. Jasper looked at me with a worried look on his face.

"Jesus, this is all we need," he said while trying to kick the door in.

I was about to ask him what he meant when he kicked open the door. I came face to face with Edward sporting a black eye and a split lip while standing there with some skank who I could only describe as a psychopath.

I ran over to Edward's side and reached out to touch his face. He looked at me with so much hurt and love in his eyes that it broke my heart. I looked over at the skank with fury and anger blazing from my eyes.

"Who are you and what the fuck do you want?" I spat furiously.

She looked me up and down before turning back to Edward.

"Is this who you are fucking now Edward? The little girl that you knocked up? You certainly took a step down," she sneered at him.

Edward turned to her a with a look of pure loathing.

"Emily, this is the last time I am going to say this. Get out of my home and out of my life. You are nothing to me. You are a sick bitch and you are lower than the gum stuck on my shoe," he said, his voice laced with venom.

She looked at him with the deadliest stare I had ever seen before she looked straight at me.

"You know, he is only making sure that you get rid of that baby that you are carrying. He has no heart. He made me get rid of mine and trust me he is going to do the same to you," she growled before looking back at Edward.

"We could have been happy. You ruined my life and now I am going to do the same to you. You have not seen the last of me," she spat out before walking out the door.

I felt insecure about what she had said until I looked at Edward. However all my insecurites vanished when I saw him looking at me affectionately. I knew then that we could face anything as long as we were together.

EPOV

Fucking whore, that is what I called her in my head. I could not believe my eyes when I turned the lights on after walking in the door only to find Emily there. The girl that had played me for a fool and broke my heart when she pawned her baby off on me as mine before ruining my reputation by spreading lies saying that I had made her have an abortion and that she was depressed of the said abortion before I callously dumped her. She ruined my life and now she was back again, just when I had finally found happiness.

I pulled Bella into my arms and kissed the top of her head. Alec was giving me death glares while Alice looked between Jasper and I with a confused expression look on her face.

"Is someone going to tell me what the fuck is going on and who the fuck that was?" she asked furiously.

"I would like to also know the answer to that question," Alec spat in my face.

Bella took a step back and went into the kitchen as I told them both the story about Emily and the trouble that she had made. I barely noticed Bella coming back until she placed a bag of frozen peas on my eye. I looked at her and smiled.

"Thanks baby."

When I started talking about Jacob's part in my past, I noticed Bella going pale as Alice wrapped her arms around her.

"It's a good thing that you know now and that you never let things go any further," she said to Bella. I then remembered that I meant to ask Bella how she knew him and thought that there was no time like the present to find out.

"Alright girls, enough is enough. How do you two know Jacob Black?" I asked.

Alice and Bella looked at each other and then they both looked at me. Bella started to talk but Alice beat her to the punch.

"Jacob is a guy that we met at my aunt's house party, she threw it for us so that we could get to know the other girls in the school that we planned on attending. He took an interest in Bella and sort of asked her out."

I felt myself getting angry,furious at the thought of that mongrel anywhere near my Bella. I clenched my hands into fists, trying to stay in control as she continued.

"When she turned him down, he said that they would meet again because they had begun to get to know each other," she said.

I saw that Bella was very close to tears so I went to her side and pulled her into my arms.

"Calm down baby, he is not going to get anywhere near you. It is you and me against the world," I whispered soothingly.

She buried her face into my chest and tears flowed from her eyes onto my shirt.

She calmed down after about ten minutes and looked up at me from under her eyelashes.

"I'm sorry for acting like a baby, especially when you are the one that needs our support right now," she whispered while wiping her eyes.

Alice hung up her cell phone. I had not even realised that she was talking on it.

"That was my mother. I told her what happened."

I was about to interrupt her but Alice put her hand up to stop me.

"Don't worry Edward. I did not tell her who was here and what your story was. I only told her that you were attacked by an intruder. Anyway she asked for you to come down to our house for tea because there is something she wants to talk to us all about," she said.

I really did not want to go anywhere, especially with a black eye. I was racking my brain for a better solution when an idea came to my mind.

"Alice! instead of us going to your mother's why doesn't she join us here? I have a lot of food in the fridge and I am desperate to try my new barbeque," I pleaded with her.

She smiled as she speed dialed her mother before putting the phone to her ear. Alec and Jasper disappeared into the game room to start a game of guitar hero while I turned to Bella. I put the bag of peas down on a table, my black eye forgotten.

"Are you alright? Are the babies doing alright?" I asked putting my hand on her swollen stomach.

"You're seriously asking me if I am alright when you were attacked by your crazy ex- girlfriend," she asked smiling sadly.

I put my fingers under her chin and lifted her face up to mine so that I could look into her eyes.

"I do not give a shit about that bitch or myself. I am worried about you. I do not want you to have any further stress in your life. You need to remember that you are carrying two babies. The three of you are the most important people in my life and I love all three of you," I said before softly brushing my lips against hers.

She leaned in closer to me and I found that I could not pull away. The last time we had kissed was at the premiere in Seattle and her lips tasted like strawberry and banana, just like I remembered.

Her hot mouth moved over mine, my hands sliding up and down her back, caressing her hips and pressing her body closer to mine before my hands made their way back up to her neck.

"Bella," I muttered thickly as my fingers stroked her neck. Her hands slid up over my shoulders before she tangled her fingers in my thick-bronzed hair.

The kiss deepened, my heart pounded against hers as we pressed close to each other.

I drew my head back to look down at her; her brown eyes looking up at me as they glittered with desire.

It was that look that brought me back to my senses. I promised that I would go slowly with her but here I was I practically attacking her.

"I'm sorry Bella," I said, breathing heavily.

She pressed her index finger to my lips and whispered.

"No, don't apologise Edward. You see, I wanted that to happen just as much as you did."

I know love but I promised you that we would go slow. When you call to me baby, when you look at me with those big chocolate brown eyes, I just cannot explain what it does to me. My heart skips a beat and I become desperate to have you in my arms," I whispered.

Before she could say another word we were interrupted by a throat clearing. I looked up to see who it was and Alice stood there with a look of pure happiness on her face as she gazed at us.

"Just to let you two love-birds know, my mother will be here in one hour and she will be bringing a guest. She said that there was something very important that she needed to talk to us about," she giggled.

"Well in that case I will set up the barbeque and put the steaks on," I smirked. I quickly gave Bella a kiss on the cheek before walking outside to the barbeque.

BPOV

As I watched Edward walk away my lips were still tingling from our kiss. I could not help but think that he was quickly making his way back into my heart and that thought alone scared the shit out of me.

"Ahem, Bella, earth to Bella, come in space cadet," Alice joked.

I shook my head and looked at Alice.

"Erm, yeah, what!"

"From how hot that kiss looked it certainly explains why you cannot form a single sentence," she giggled.

I took a couple of deep breaths before taking Alice by the hand and dragging her into the den. I closed the door and leaned my head back, closing my eyes.

"Oh Alice, What am I going to do?"

She took me by the hand and led me over to the couch.

"Bella only you know what you want to do. Listen to your heart and ask yourself what should be done," she said.

I sighed as I listened to her.

"Well, my head is saying that he has hurt me badly and I don't know if I should take a risk with him again. But at the same time my heart is saying that he is the father of our babies. He has learnt his lession and he is trying to make up for the fact that he was an asshole in the past. Alice, I want to listen to my heart and give him this chance but I am still scared."

She nodded in understanding before she began started talking.

"Bells I will be first to admit that if you had said this to me ten weeks ago, I would have been telling you to tell him to stick his feelings were the sun doesn't shine. But I see the way he looks at you and somehow I know that his feelings are genuine. All I can say is that you need to listen to your heart and let it lead you. It will not steer you wrong," she said.

I put my arms around her to give her a hug when we heard a knock on the door. It opened a crack and Edward's head popped in.

"Hey girls, just to let you know the barbeque is about ready and Jasper is looking for you Alice," he said before looking at me.

Alice jumped up shouting, "I'm coming to you Jazzy-bear."

Edward took my hand and whispered.

"Come with me, I want to show you something before Esme arrives and we go outside."

He led me up the stairs and into one of the bedrooms. I was speechless at what was there. The room itself was in the process of being decorated. In the middle for the room was a table with rolls of blue and pink wallpaper. Over in the corner of the room a rocking chair was next to the window over looking the beach. Two cots and changing tables were still in their boxes and there were at least fifteen bags of baby clothes.

I looked at Edward, a single tear escaping from my right eye. He gently wiped the tear away with his thumb while gazing into my eyes.

"I'm sorry Bella, I did not want to make you cry. I only wanted to show you this room so that you would know that the babies would always have a place with me. My mother knew that I was doing this so she came here with the wallpaper yesterday and I had already bought the clothes before we knew that it was going to be twins. The second I got home from the clinic, I went online and ordered the furniture from home depo. They delivered it all th..."

I was so overwelmed that he had done all this that I stopped him from saying anymore by pressing my lips to his. He hesitated for a second before returning the kiss.

After kissing me for about five minutes he pulled back and looked into my eyes.

"I take it that you like the room," he laughed.

I smiled up at him with tears falling from my eyes as he kissed my forehead

"Please don't be sad baby. I wanted this to be a happy surprise," he said emotionally.

I wiped my tears away with the back of my hand, completely unladylike.

I leaned in to kiss him again when I heard a squeal from Alice outside. I rushed over to the window that was looking out over the beach and saw that Eleazar was hugging Alice while Esme was standing next to them. I felt bile in my mouth, thinking that if Eleazar was here then Carmen was not far behind.

"Fuck this," I spat and ran from the room to where Alice was with Eleazar and Esme. Alec and Jasper where standing at the grill cooking steaks, completely obvious to everything that was happening.

I glared daggers at Esme and she at least managed to look shame faced.

"I know what you are thinking Bella and I should of told you that Eleazer was going to be here, but there are a few things that I need to tell you and Edward. I just finished explaining it all to Eleazer so I thought that it was best that he was here with me," she said sheepishly.

I felt Edward coming up behind me before wrapping his arms around my waist.

"Alec, Jasper, turn off the grill. Why don't we all go into the Den to talk about this," he said with his head resting on my shoulder from behind.

We all nodded and followed Edward inside. I sat down next to Edward and held his hand tightly. He looked at me nervously as he took his hand from my grasp and placed it around my shoulder.

Esme sat down opposite us and looked at my swollen stomach while bitting her lip. It was then that I knew that what she had to tell us had something to do with my babies. She took a deep breath before she started.

"First I want to apologise to all of you for everything that has happened. If I hadn't sent you to Carmen none of this would have happened," she said to me.

I could see that this was affecting her and I wanted nothing more than to get up and comfort her.

"After the two of you ran away to Jasper's, Carlisle and I went to visit Eleazer and Carmen. Lets just say that I did not tell you the whole story of that visit."

I looked over at Alice and she simply shrugged her shoulders at me before looking back to her mother.

"When we spoke to Carmen, she told us that Kate and Irina were not her only daughters. She said that she had another daughter who was taken away by her father when she was still little. She did not see her again until her sixteenth birthday which was fourteen years later. A few months after they were reunited, she told Carmen that she was dating the most popular guy in school, that she was pregnant and the father of the child was making her have an abortion. She had the abortion only for the boy to dump her claiming that she was cheating on him with her foster brother," she said avoiding eye contact with both Edward and I.

I looked at Edward and it was obvious that we were both on the same wavelink.

"Esme the boyfriend wouldn't happen to be Edward and the girls name Emily would it," I asked, my hands shaking. Esme looked up at both Edward and I with a surprised look on her face.

"Yes! Did Edward tell you about this already?" she asked looking at Edward.

"Yes I did and before you pass judgment on me let me tell you my side of the story," he said.

Esme nodded as Edward went into details about when he first met Emily and Jacob, to catching Emily cheating on him with Jacob and the fact that the date of conception was long before he had sex with Emily for the first time.

She nodded as tears fell down her face and Eleazer looked tormented.

"Esme what happened with Emily left a whole in my heart and it stayed broken until..." he paused, looking at me with love and trust before continued.

"...Bella came into my life. I know that I was a bastard to both her and our babies, but I was scared. I understand that that does not excuse my behavior but I am going to spend the rest of my life making it up to her and being the best father possible," he said adoringly.

Esme gave us a weak smile before continuing.

"I know Edward. Everyone is entitled to a second chance, but remember that if you hurt her or the babies again there will not be a third chance," she said.

I started to talk but Eleazer spoke up before I could get a word out.

"That is all well and good Esme, but we need to tell them what we are really concerned about," he said sadly.

Esme nodded before pulling a letter out of her purse and handing it to me.

"Read this before you ask any questions."

I opened the letter and Edward and I put our heads together so that we could both read it.

Dear Esme,

Well it has been a long time since we have spoken. I was hoping that you had a chance to think about what we spoke about?

I was in touch with Emily and understandably she is very upset about Edward knocking up the little tramp, especially since he made her abort their child.

I have seen the interview that he gave publicly announcing his love for the little whore and the little bastard. Just to let you know, she does not deserve to have that baby inside her when my daughter is suffering from what he did to her.

All I will say at the moment is that she had better be careful. When she lived here with us, I noticed how clumsy she was. You would not want her to have an accident and for her to lose that baby, just like Emily lost hers.

Carmen

I started shaking as tears fell from my eyes. Edward got up and started throwing everything around the room, breaking many priceless antiques. Jasper and Alec jumped up and held onto him so that he was forced to calm down.

"How dare she! She ruined my teenage years! For years I let her win by living a life of misery and now that I have finally found happiness again she wants to take it away," he screamed furiously.

I got up to go over to him but Alice and Esme held me back.

"Don't Bella, he is not thinking or seeing clearly at the moment. He might not mean to, but he could hit you by accident and you have those babies to consider," Esme said calmly.

"Bu-But you do no-not unders-understand Esme. Emily w-was here earlier. Who do y-you think gav-gave him the black e-eye and split lip," I stuttered.

Esme looked from me to Edward, a worried look on her face.

"Its ok! Let me go," Edward said to Alec and Jasper. Jasper looked at me and I nodded for him to let him go. The second that he was free he came over to me and folded me into his arms.

"Don't worry baby, No one is going to hurt you or our babies," he cooed.

I broke out into full blown sobs, burying my face into his chest.

"I can't stay here and neither can Bella. She is twenty one weeks pregnant with twins and I need to take her away from all of this and make sure that she is ok," Edward said to Esme.

Esme started to object but Eleazer stopped her.

"I think that it is a good idea Esme. I have a feeling that he will keep her safe," he said. Esme looked at him wide-eyed.

"Eleazer she is only sixteen years old. The last person I trusted her with was your wife and look what happened," she snapped.

Eleazer looked tortured and broken when she spoke of Carmen but he quickly composed himself.

"Besides, where will they go? They cannot go to Elizabeth's because she knows Carmen and they live close to each other. She cannot go back to Forks until she is eighteen and legally an adult because Charlie and Renee have it in their heads that if she does not have an abortion, the child will instead be put up for adoption the very second it is born," she continued.

I gasped as she said that because I did not know that, that was my parents plan. I looked over at Alec and he looked as shocked as I did. At least he did not know about it either. Esme got upset and looked at me.

"I'm sorry Bella. I did not want you to know about that," she whimpered.

Edward held me tighter before looking over at Esme.

"We can go to Emmett and Rose's place. They have plenty of room," he said. I looked up at Edward.

"Will Alice be coming with us too?" I asked hopefully

Edward looked over at Esme, asking her with his eyes. Esme looked at both of us and shook her head.

"No sweetie. She is going to stay with me and go to school."

Alice looked like she was going to protest but Esme gave her a stern look that clearly said do not argue with me.

"Ed, what about the movie? We are supposed to start shooting in eight weeks," Jasper asked.

"Jazz I do not give a shit about the movie. Besides we will be staying with Emmett and he is the assistant director of BITE 2. He will be able to help me sort it out, but my first concern is for Bella and our twins," he said.

"Yeah, about that. When were you going to tell us that she was carrying twins? Do you know the sex of the babies," Jasper smirked.

Esme put her hand up to stop us.

"Ok boys we are getting off track here. I will only agree to this if you promise me that you will contact me twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. If you miss a single phone call we will have the police involved," she said, her eyes flashing.

Edward nodded and agreed with her before walking out of the den with his cell phone.

Alice came over to me.

"Oh Bella, I will miss you. You are much more than my best friend, you are my sister and I love you," she cried.

"I will miss you too. I love you too," I said emotionally.

Alec came over to me and took me into his arms.

"Bells, if he does not treat you well let me know. I will come back and kick his ass. I love you baby sis," he whispered into my ear.

I pulled back and glared daggers at him.

"Baby sis! I am two minutes younger that you. Sometimes you make it sound like there are two years between us," I told him.

Before he could reply, Edward came back into the room.

"I spoke to Emmett. He is expecting us tomorrow," he said as he looked at me.
