Nat POV
"Please sir! This is a huge misunderstanding, you have to let us out! I have a lawyer for the band, and I am confident we can straighten this out!" I sighed. Cooper wasn't able to contact anyone before the police came and arrested him as well.
"Shut up twerps!" The policeman at the desk growled. "I don't care whether you all are rock stars or not, we're getting to the bottom of this kidnapping. And we have several sources commenting on the rocky relationship between the person of interest and all of you."
"We didn't do anything!" Our voices bounced off the walls.
"I said SHUT UP!" The man glared. Alex nudged me in the side.
"He doesn't look like a good kind of police officer..."
"This is no time for games, Alex! We need to get dad to help us get out of here."
"Nat, I was being serious! He's kind of creepy!"
"Alex. Not now! We need to find out what happened to Rosalina!"
"Dude, I don't want to be the one to break it to you, but we can't do anything about Rosalina until we get out of here." Thomas kicked the bars. "Which, I'm going to guess is not soon."
Rosalina POV
"Well, hello there Miss Tai. What a lovely surprise. This was quite the unceremonious way of meeting, however, and for that, I must apologize." I glared. I hated him. I hated his smirk, his laugh...and I absolutely hated that I was sitting here, stuck, and tied.
"The police are going to find you. My dad is going to find you."
"Your dad? Why, Rosie, isn't he on a work trip to Nevada? He's always working, is he really going to notice you're gone?" I screamed, leaping to my feet. Before I could even think about crashing into him, I was wrestled to the floor.
"And you know what, Rosie? Even if your dear old dad does know that you've been kidnapped, he won't be looking for answers here...In fact, I think the world is already getting their answer, and in the end, it won't be me who is paying the price."
Nat POV
"Officer! This is ridiculous! We didn't do anything to her! She's our BEST FRIEND!" They were pulling in the girls, and Cati was in hysterics. Her nose was running and her wrists were raw from trying to escape the officer.
"YOU CAN'T KEEP US HERE!"
"Ma'am, we already explained to you. This is for your own protection. We've already seen one of your band members kidnapped and we would hate for the same people to strike your band again. We're only trying to offer our protection services during this crisis-"
"Well you can shove your protection services-"
"What my fellow band mates would like to say is that we simply don't understand. Most people offered government or state protection after a serious crime would not be forced to stay in the prison, with other criminals. We should be given a separate guard, and be allowed to stay at the hotel."
"With all due respect Miss, your friend Rosalina was kidnapped from right under everyone's noses. According to all of your testimonies, she was right backstage with the main singer of your band, before she disappeared. And while it seems very unlikely that this involves any of you, besides being the by-standing victims, we need to make sure we have the whole story before we start the investigation. The sooner you comply, the sooner we will find your friend."
"So we are suspects." Lianna and Cati looked directly at my band before turning back. "This is ridiculous. We'll answer any questions you have, but we want Rosalina back just as much as anyone here. I don't think there is one person here who has kidnapped Rosalina-" Was she saying she thinks my band is innocent? Does Cati believe that we had nothing to do with this? I sighed in relief.
I know she hated me, and I know Lianna thought she had to protect Rosalina from me, but at least they knew I'd never do anything like this. There's some hope; not everyone's against us.
"Hey, hey it's the girls!" David leaped up from the floor, and he and Thomas began to rattle our bars.
"We swear we didn't do anything! Please! Help us get out of here! Tell them we're innocent! We had nothing to do with this!" Lisa went to reach toward Thomas, but Trina stopped her. She spoke loud enough for us to hear, and her pitying gaze towards Thomas told me she felt bad for what was going to happen.
"Lisa, we're the innocent ones. We're only being held for questions, but the Naked Brother's Band is being held because the police think they kidnapped Rosalina. I don't believe they had anything to do with this situation, but now is not the time to look like best friends..."
"You've got a smart manager there, girlie. You wouldn't want any of us big bad policeman to notice anything off about your behavior and say...pull you in for more intensive questioning?"
"What are you-"
"Well, the boys were performing on stage, so they had to have some sort of accomplice help them out-" Lisa sucked in a huge breath and glared, while Thomas began banging on the bars even harder.
"Don't you dare talk to her like that! Lisa didn't do anything and neither did this band! All of you are crazy! You should be out there scouring every corner of this city for Rosalina! But you're more concerned with how you can make up some huge story to make us sound like terrible people! I've had enough of all you people!"
"Thomas, dude. You've gone insane!"
"You're not helping either! I want a policeman who is actually going to do his job and find Rosalina!" Quassim and David tried to pull him away from the bars and get him back to sitting down. But Thomas was angry and we all knew they angry-Thomas was not a person who we could calm down easily.
"Thomas, it'll be okay. I'm sure these people will come to their GOD-DAMN SENSES and know that none of us did anything because WE'RE JUST KIDS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD AND WHAT DO YOU THINK WE'RE DOING NO! I'M NOT GOING IN THERE YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!"
"My apologies Miss uh, Trina. But we've been told to hold any uncooperative person who refuses to aid us in this search for Rosalina. Your friend will be released when she can confirm that she was in no way involved with the kidnapping."
"And the boys? What about them? Officer, you can't really believe that a group of teenagers carried out a kidnapping?"
"I hate to tell you this Ma'am, but it's not looking so good for those boys. You see," The policeman kneeled next to the chair, and Nat finally got a good look at his bearded face. His eyes were beady and his cheeks, fat. His face was not consoling, but almost...gloating? No. That wouldn't be right. Why would he be gloating?
"You see, the boys are in a very precarious situation, because they are the only people within 500 kilometers that have a real motive." I couldn't take it any longer.
"MOTIVE?! WHAT MOTIVE WOULD WE POSSIBLY HAVE?"
"Reports have repeatedly shown that the relationship between you and the victim,"
"IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. WE MAY HAVE BROKEN UP BADLY AND I MAY BE DATING CHRISTA BUT THAT'S NO REASON TO KIDNAP SOMEONE! THIS IS INSANE! I HAVE AN IDEA! WHY DON'T ALL OF YOU SPEND TIME TRYING TO FIND ROSALINA INSTEAD OF JUST WAITING AROUND FOR NEWS REPORTS. THIS IS WHAT YOU WERE TRAINED FOR."
"Nat, this isn't really the time..."
"BACK OFF ALEX! THOMAS IS RIGHT! NO ONE IS ACTUALLY DOING THEIR JOB IN THIS STATION BECAUSE IF THEY WERE, ROSALINA WOULD BE HERE BY NOW."
"NAT. Nat, stop." I felt Christa grip onto my shoulder tightly, and I knew she was leading me away from the bars. I could see the rest of the girls arguing with the police, and waiting for their cross-examinations. I could feel Christa leading me down next to Thomas, who was hugging Lisa, who was crying. I couldn't even make eye contact with anyone, except Cooper. He was the only person who would be able to get us out of this.
But he just shook his head. He used up his phone call to call our lawyer, who promised to call my dad, but there was no telling what would happen until we got here. We, and the Star Rockers, were completely alone, and according the police at the desk, the rest of the world was against us.
Alex was right though. There was something off about these police officers, and I just couldn't put my finger on it.
