Chapter 8: Anarchy

Authors Note: Hey guys remember me…no…? Yeah I know I F'd up. I was so occupied with my Batman stories that I completely forgot. It wasn't until I got a PM from ark1999 and the new Fallout 4 trailer that brought me back to this. So, he is the next chapter of Mojave Misfits, enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own Fallout New Vegas.

Drake was sitting over at the gun workshop cleaning the handguns they had gotten off of a few bandits that they had met on their last trip to the outskirts of Vegas. Some drug pushers had been selling some 'hot' doses of Psycho and The King asked if they could clear it out. He paid in pretty good caps and they misfits had picked up some good salvage for their stockpile and the rest they could sell for a good price. Life was going better than ever in a long time.

He jumped when the blast door burst opened revealing Skye with a panicked expression on her face.

"Drake," She shrieked. "W-We need you, out in the Freeside."

Drake nodded and quickly rushed out of their hideout to see what the commotion was about. Skye led him to the old Mormon Fort. Once inside they were led to a tent by of the of the Apocalypse members. Inside the tent there on the bed was a wounded NCR troop. Mike and Noah were both at his side, being there for their former brother in arms.

"What happened?" Drake asked.

"They found him in a heap on the front of the main doors leading into Freeside." Mike explained. "Apparently he was dropped off by Legion scouts. He wasn't beaten, but he was starved and dehydrated. My guess is the Legion was testing his will to live, because we found this on his person." Mike handed Drake a piece of paper with big red letter print.

"Two days-seven hour-twelve minutes."

"Merciful God," Drake grunted disgust. "Well, who is he?"

"Judging from his dog tags, he was stationed out in Nelson." Noah explained. "My guess is that the Legion moved in and took it. They're growing bolder you guys."

"We'll when the NCR want our help in wiping them off the map we'll be there, Noah."

In an instant the troop reached out from his bed and grabbed Noah's hand. Everyone jumped when he pulled Noah closer.

"Noah…Bagby?" He asked in a weak voice.

"Yes, how do you know me?" He asked a little uneasy.

"We were supposed to get reinforcements from the Dam, but they never showed. After they had tied up my friends they took me hostage, something about a message. I didn't understand it at first, but about halfway to Vegas my handlers met up with a few more. The other group of Legionnaires, they had two girls with them. They looked familiar and when the scouts asked who they were they said their names were Serena and Abella Bagby."

Noah's eyes widened in horror as he put together what was happening, the Legion were using his sisters as bait to lure him out, but why?

"Hey," Noah looked back down at the wounded soldier. "The ones who took me from Nelson, they put this in my pocket." He slowly lifted up his hand and every one of the Misfits panicked when he held out Noah's dog tags.

"I guess Legion took our escape a little more personally than we thought, huh guys." Zach commented. He stopped himself from making another bad pun when he saw Noah's entire body start to shake. "Hey, we'll get them back, don't you worry."

"Don't worry, don't worry?!" Noah snapped. He got up from his spot next to the soldier and stomped towards Zach. Drake and Mike quickly stepped in between the two and did their best to restrain him.

"Settle down brother." Mike said as he held his friend back. "Save your anger for Legion."

"We'll get them back for you man, we just need to think." Drake reassured. "It's almost night time, and they won't risk traveling at night, so we gotta get them while they are camping."

"And how do we do that?" Noah shouted. He pushed his friends back before slumping down into a corner of the tent.

"There is a cave south from here." The troop explained, bringing attention back to him. "That is where they traded me for her. You can find them there."

"I'll put the coordinates into my Pip-boy." Skye said. She placed a reassuring hand on Noah's shoulder. "Hey, you saved me from the Legion, let me do the same for you." Noah smiled at his young friend.

"Thank you, but I should handle this myself." He explained. "I mean the Legion is most likely targeting me because of my tags."

"Nah, they most likely want to get to all of us." Drake said as he handed his partner his trusty Carbine. "We'll all go and help get your sisters back and then we'll take out the rest of those fucks at Nelson."

"Sounds like a plan I get on boards of." Zach chuckled.

"It'll be a win-win for everyone." Mike said.

"Except for the Legion." Skye winked as she readied her rifle. Noah smiled at the loyalty of his friends and nodded.

"Okay we're in this together, so where too?"

(!)

After a quick stop back at H.Q. the group made their way towards the cave where Noah's sisters would hopefully be at. Noah noticed that Drake had picked up some unusual items from home. He had his riot shotgun, but he also brought a caravan shotgun and instead of his duster, cowboy hat and sunglasses he was wearing a large black coat, a baseball hat and some biker goggles. He looked just like a salesman.

"So we have some time to kill," Skye spoke out. "Sorry, poor choice of words, but Noah why don't you tell us about your sisters."

"Why?" Noah grunted.

"Because up until now we didn't even know you had sisters." Zachary said a little defensively. "She was just trying to ease the tension."

"Whatever…" Noah muttered. The rest of the trip was tense as they all just trudged on through the wasteland. Noah's thoughts just kept going back to his sisters and the good times they hand. "Serena is thirty-one and Abella is twenty-nine. We all joined the NCR after they saved us at Shady Sands."

"Sounds like you guys managed to get by just fine on your own." Drake said.

"We weren't any different from any other wasteland family." Noah said. "We made our bones in the NCR. I joined mostly because I knew they would be protected, but all that managed to do was put them in the hands of the worst group of people known to man. Dammit, what were they thinking?!"

"They probably wanted to make you proud, or to give back what the NCR has given them." Mike explained. "Knowing you, you probably would have done the same."

"Don't remind me." He grunted.

"Hey don't worry, we will get them." Skye reassured as she went to check her Pip-Boy. "Oh no, stop!"

Everyone tensed and readied their guns for combat. They all grouped up in formation, but there wasn't anything around for miles. Drake's eyebrow was raised in confusion as he looked to his young friend.

"Skye, what is the matter?" He asked.

"According to my coordinates we are only a mile away from the cave where the Legion is held up." She explained as she pointed in the north-west direction.

Drake pulled out a telescope from his coat and held it up to his eye. After a few minutes of staring out into the wastes Drake raised his hand out to Noah and motioned for him to come over to him.

"What is it?" Noah asked. Drake said nothing but handed him the telescope.

Confused, Noah took the telescope and peered through it to see what Drake was looking at. He squinted through the lens and saw something in the far distance. He focused the lens on what looked like a camp, but it was actually a small Legion outpost. His heart started to race when he saw a small group of girls all locked in some cages. Two were just a couple of farmer girl, but the other two were what made his heart flutter.

"Serena and Abella, they're alive." He whispered to himself. He quickly threw the telescope aside and readied his carbine, but Drake quickly grabbed him and pinned him to the ground.

"Now, hold on a second." Drake grunted as he struggled to keep his friend pinned. "If you go over there, guns blazing, you are only going to end up getting your sister in even more hot water!"

"Noah, he's right!" Mike said. "We need to be smart about this."

"Then what do you suggest we do!?" Noah barked.

Drake got off of his friend and slipped off his back pack. He opened it up and after digging around he pulled out two Stealth-Boys.

"Put these on and listen to me."

(!)

There were seven Legion scouts sitting around the fire, eating gecko meat and drinking purified water. They would occasionally throw some scraps towards their new slaves, but that was about it.

The leader of the camp was eating quietly until he heard footsteps approach. He quickly grabbed his repeater and the rest of his men readied their spears and machetes.

"Show yourself." The leader demanded, aiming his gun out into the darkness.

He watched as a man held his hands up with a caravan shotgun in his left hand and a handkerchief in his right.

"Whoa now, let's all just take a minute and collect our wits shall we?" The man chuckled nervously as he set his gun down.

"What business do you have here traveler?" The leader asked.

"Gentlemen, I am but a mere business man, looking to sell my wares to weary travelers." He looks over the leaders shoulder and over towards the poor girls trapped in the cages. Their eyes shined with a desperation that almost broke his heart. "And by the looks of it, your inventory is in desperate need of some pure H2O." He chuckled, pulling out a couple of bottles of water.

The leader stepped forward and took the bottles of water out of his hands and dropped them on the ground before stomping them into the dirt. The two looked down at the broken plastic and puddle of water before staring back at one another. The Leader loved the look that spread across the travelers face.

"Didn't your mother ever teach you not to talk to strangers?" The Leader asked maliciously. His crew chuckled at the ominous threat.

"Yes, she also taught me not to let good things go to waste," He explained with a murderous look in his eyes. "Like, water, food and most importantly…bullets."

The Leader looked at him confused for a moment before the two were interrupted by loud gunfire from behind. The Leader turned around and to his horror watched as his entire cap was slaughtered by automatic weapons. He then heard another loud bang and soon fell to the ground as his leg splattered blood all over the place.

"As I said," The Leader looked back up at the Traveler who had his shotgun back in his hands. "Never let things go to waste."

The Leader screamed at him as the traveler walked passed him, after tossing an empty shell at his head.

"Good work boys."

"Thanks, but it was you who we should be complementing." Mike said as he deactivated his Stealth-Boy. "I didn't even know we had any Stealth-Boys."

"Yeah, I just picked them up this morning, figured they would come in handy." Drake explained as he grabbed the keys off of one of the dead Legionnaires before handing them to Noah. "You do the honors buddy."

Noah quickly snatched the keys from his friend and rushed over to the cells where his sisters were being held. He fumbled with the lock for a second before he finally managed to open it.

"Serena, Abella…" He gasped. "Thank god you're alive."

"Yes, we're fine." Serena said a little defensively. Noah looked at her a little hurt.

"Well you don't look too fine. In fact you look like you have been taken hostage by the fucking Legion." Noah snapped. Serena didn't respond and just shoved past him before taking the keys from his hand.

While she went over to free the other slaves, Abella on the other hand walked up to her brother and hugged him. He smiled and returned the gesture.

"How have you been kiddo?" He asked as the two broke off.

"Fine, we left the Dam to go help out in Nelson, when these assholes came out of nowhere and wiped out our unit." She explained with a shudder. "Who knows what they would have done if they had their way."

"Hey it doesn't matter, okay." He reassured her. "You're safe, free and heading back to the Dam."

"Oh, we are, are we?" Serena asked rhetorically. Noah stomped over to her fuming.

"Yes, you are." He snapped. "Dammit, you almost ended up God knows where and you wouldn't even be standing if it weren't for me or my friends."

"Oh, you mean the friends you met when you were captured and brought into the Legions stronghold?" She chuckled bitterly. "Seriously, where do you get off giving me orders, last I checked you were a mercenary, not NCR."

"Yeah, well you failed to assist your team in Nelson, got captured and were rescued by that team of mercenaries. So, mission failed on your part."

"Noah, enough!" Mike snapped. "You ever think that maybe this is why they left the Dam to go to Nelson, because their brother doesn't have any faith in them?"

"Shut up Mike, what do you know?" Noah snapped.

"I know that your sisters are alive, I know the people at Nelson need help and I sure as shit know, that if people find out that the NCR ran away after getting beat by the Legion, the people of the Mojave would lose hope in us."

"He's right we have to help reclaim Nelson." Zachary spoke up. "If we do this then Legion will know not to underestimate the NCR."

"And if the NCR would happen to mention that they were assisted by a band of Mercs, maybe people would band together and let them know that the Mojave Wasteland is not their personal training marketing ground." Drake chipped in.

"Come on, Noah," Skye spoke up. "We have five trained mercenaries and two NCR scouts. We'll have them beat in no time."

"Hey don't forget about us." One of the farm girls said.

"Yeah, we want some payback too." The other one said.

Drake looked them over a bit. The first girl looked to be about twenty-two, not a bad looking body, but not tough enough for legion. Her hair was brown and a little short, and to Drake's defense she looked like a young boy.

The other girl had light blonde hair, tied in pigtails, with a smaller build than her friend. Drake rubbed the back of his head.

"Um, looks girls, I know your itching for some payback, but we need people, people who can use guns, not people who can be cannon fodder." Drake explained.

"Hey, best be watching your mouth around me and my sister." She slurred. "Besides, we can hold our own." She walked over to a large duffle bag and dug around for a bit before pulling out some items.

"This is Lucy, named after our Mama." She said as she pulled the lever of her lever action shotgun.

"And this is Henry, named after our Pa." The blonde said as she pulled the bolt on her hunting rifle.

"You two are sisters?" Skye asked. They both nodded. Skye looked over at Drake. "C'mon, let them come, if thy know how to use the guns then they can be of some use, besides we're gonna need all the help we can get." Drake shook his head in annoyance, but finally relented.

"Fine, but you two," The two girls jumped when he pointed at them. "You help out, or get out, understood?"

"Yup!" The nodded.

"What are your names?" Skye asked.

"I'm Samantha," The brown haired girl introduced herself. "Call me Sam, and this is my darling little sister, Jane."

"Great, gather up all their gear then, bullets, blades, grenades, anything that can help us. Skye find out the coordinates to Nelson, see if there is a safe way to get there, without burning through our ammo." Drake ordered.

"We don't have to we can just go to Camp Forlorn Hope." Serena explained. "It's a small outpost set up a few miles away from Nelson."

"Then that's where we're heading." Drake explained. "We move in five people!"

Everyone gathered what they could. Sam dressed into her brown coat and put on her cowboy hat as her sister put on her blue coat and baseball cap. Noah's sisters retrieved their standard issued service rifles and 9mm handguns.

Once the weapons and other gear were bagged they all set off for Fort Hope. There was just one more thing Noah needed to take care of. He sent his team and sisters on ahead and picked up one of the spare machetes lying around. He walked slowly towards the Legion Camp Leader with a dark look in his eyes. The Leader merely shook his head.

"You really think you and your team of nothings can take down an army as mighty as the Legion?" He asked. "You only delayed the inevitable. They are all going to die, like lambs to a slaughter. Your sisters on the other hand-"

With one mighty swing he brought the blade down and landed it in the center of the Leader's skull. Blood poured from between his head and onto the ground before slumping down himself.

Noah walked away and didn't look back.
