Well... this is awkward... Hi guys... I haven't posted for nearly three months... I'm a terrible person. *nervous laughter* I will be honest here, this chapter was really hard to write since my original plans for this story kind of got messed up so I had to change some things a little, plus writer's block is an a-hole and I couldn't write at all. Here's a little update on my stories!
Titan Slayer- Here's your chapter. I'll get you another one soon. Expeditions are always hard for me to write since I try my hardest not to make them all sound exactly the same, but... Yeah it's short I'm sorry. I'll try to get the next one out as soon as possible.
Attack on Fangirls- I have literally NO ideas for what to do next... I would appreciate it if I got some ideas from you guys.
Branded by the Heart- Yeah... I may or may not put that story back up... Most likely not unless you guys are able to twist my arm. With that out the way, here's the new chapter!
Three months later...
"Help me..." a desperate little voice called out.
"Who's there?!" I called out, trying to see through the world of dark nothing. I floated in a dark void, alone. I could see nothing...I could hear nothing...I felt nothing...I was all alone in the dark.
Please help me..." the little voice pleaded again.
"Where are you? Who are you? Hello?!" I cried. The voice was silent. My heartbeat quickened with fear, but I didn't know what I was afraid of. I jerked my body in all directions, trying to pinpoint where the voice came from. I tried to activate my slayer eye in order to see in the dark, but it wouldn't work. I raised my hand up to my eye to feel it and the skin was smooth. I had no slayer eye.
"Mommy..." the little voice whispered behind me.I turned around and saw a little girl with her chocolate brown hair tied back in a braid. She stared up at me with a plain, emotionless expression. Her pink flowing dress swayed as she floated in front of me.
"Reeta?" I whispered, "What are you doing here?"She didn't answer; she simply stared at me, emotionless. I stared at her in awe, reaching a hand to touch her. Hesitantly, out of fear she would disappear, I gently touched her cheeks with my fingertips.
"Reeta..." I breathed with tears in my eyes, "I miss you..."
She stared up at me with the same dead eyes. A boom pierced through the quiet darkness. It echoed in my ears and caused me to falter away from Reeta a step. When I recovered, I glanced back down at Reeta. A gun wound was on her chest, the blood staining the rose pink silk. She fell back. I tried to reach out for her, however as soon as I touched her I woke up.
I jolted awake, sweat pouring down my face, palms, and chest. I was trying to recover my breath as my heart pounded painfully in my chest. I desperately reached for the matches, sparked a light, and turned on the lamp, making sure to extinguish the match. I clumsily fell out of bed and stared at my reflection in the mirror.
My eye is still there... My eye is still there... My eye is still there...
I could feel my body tremble with every second I stared at my eye. I gripped tightly on the dresser, trying to hold myself up.
She's gone June. Reeta is gone. She's been dead for a year.
I nodded my head in confirmation to my own thoughts. I lifted my head up to look at my reflection again. My eyes were puffy. Tear streaks stained my cheeks. I stared at my slayer eye that was puffy and watery from crying. The one thing I enjoyed about it; I enjoyed the fact it still allowed me to cry.
Mira and Elli ate together at the same table at Survey Corps HQ. The slayers were assisting them on yet another expedition. The plan was this time that they would reach Wall Maria and find a way to seal the two slayers ate in the cafeteria, with few Survey Corps soldiers.
"Hey Mira, I have a question," Elli stated.
"And what is your question?" Mira replied.
"Is Captain Levi your boyfriend?" Elli bluntly asked.
One soldier glanced over his shoulder a little in interest but didn't pay much attention.
Mira blushed a deep shade of pink, "W-What?! No of course not! He's our superior!"
Elli had a mischievous grin on her face, "But you like him right?"
"N-N-No! No I don't!" Mira exclaimed with more embarrassment. Another soldier glanced over and chuckled a little.
Elli raised an eyebrow, an evil smirk painted on her face.
Mira gulped and hid her face with her hair sheepishly, "Maybe I do a little bit..." she replied shyly while twirling her hair with her fingers.
"I knew it!" Elli cried out proudly, "You like Levi!"
"Don't yell it out!" Mira exclaimed.
Elli began to sing, "Mira and Levi sitting in a tree..."
"Stop that!" Mira cried.
"K.I.S.S.I.N.G!"
"Cut it out!" Mira's voice grew a little more frustrated.
"First comes love. Then comes marriage. Then comes a ba-!"
"ENOUGH!" Mira yelled desperately. By this point, everyone's eyes were on the two from Mira's yell. Mira gulped and whispered to Elli, "There is no love. There is no marriage. And there certainly won't be a baby in a carriage!"
Elli laughed hard to the point where she would go silent at Mira's completely embarrassed face, with little tears in her eyes. She wiped them away and glanced up, seeing Commander Erwin walk by. She smiled wide and got up, "Commander Erwin!"
Erwin looked up and was greeted with an unexpected huge hug, "Oof... It's nice to see you're doing well Ms. Golder."
Elli stared up at him and excitedly asked him, "Do you want to train later today?! I've gotten a lot stronger!"
Erwin nodded and patted her head, "I was hoping to see you in order to train. Yes, a training session will be nice."
Elli jumped down excitedly, "Yes! I can't wait!" She saluted him, however her fist on her heart was turned on the flat side instead of the side. Erwin grabbed her hand and gently turned it.
"This is a proper salute," he told her. She corrected herself and smiled proudly. He patted her head and went back to his duty.
"Go slay those Titans for us Commander Erwin!" a man cried in the crowd. "It's humanity's strongest Captain Levi!" another person cried.
"Shut up," he grumbled as he rolled his eyes and grabbed the reins tighter on his horse.
"If they knew how much of a grump you actually were they wouldn't be cheering you so much," Hanji commented.
I rode a horse in front of the carriage carrying the slayers. As we passed by we could still feel the crowd's cold glare on us. They were still uneasy about us. However they said nothing.
"No cheer for us," Ace growled, "Of course."
"Society fears the unknown Ace. They'll come around one day," I replied. "Until then, we'll keep our alliance with the Survey Corps strong," Slane commented, "do what makes them comfortable."
Ace rolled his eyes and stared forward bitterly. I sighed, seeing there was nothing more I could do for him. I took in a deep breath until I inhaled a familiar odor. I turned my head to the left where the odor came from and saw a brunette boy, standing among the crowd with his back turned to us. One of the cadets who would be graduating I assumed. He turned his head a little to talk to his blonde friend and I caught a glimpse of his green eyes. I sniffed the air again. The scent of titan was heavy inside him. Slane and Ace were also staring at the boy with narrow eyes, trying to figure out what was wrong.
"You two smell it as well?" I asked them.
"It's too strong to miss," Ace commented.
"We can all agree on that if Ace can smell it," Slane teased.
"Shut it Slane!" Ace snapped, "You have sharp eyes, not a sharp mouth!"
He smirked, "I will try to tone down my sharp mouth when you gain a sharp mind."
"Hey what are you trying to say?!"
"Boys..." I sighed, "Titan boy..."
"Oh right," Ace replied, "What do we do?"
"Nothing for now. The boy should have no reason to shift unless he wants Military Police and the Survey Corps hunting him down. When we return, we'll seek him out and give him a special treatment like the rest of the titans we've faced. We can't trust someone who has ties with the titans," I ordered.
"I agree. It's better to get rid of a threat before it hurts someone," Slane commented.
"Open the gates!" Erwin commanded.
The bells started to ring as the gears at the top turned and slowly rose the gates. Once the gates were completely open, the Survey Corps ran outside the walls quickly. I looked back at the slayers.
"Shift and stay in your pack formations!" I ordered.
I kicked my horse to run faster up to the middle of the formation. Shortly after shifting, Con, Mira, and Alph were running beside me in their slayer form. Ace and Slane's pack went off in their formations.
Nearly a half hour of riding brought us to our first town inhabited by giant cannibal civilians, slowing lurking the streets. The sound of my horse's hooves pounding on against the gravel floor almost echoed against the walls. The stench of titans overwhelmed me. It's stench was similar to a man who had just finished working out and covering himself with the rotting skin of a corpse. I wanted to throw up. With so many titans in one place, it was almost too much. I couldn't focus on the sight in front of me.
"Alpha June look out!"
I glanced up and saw a titan's hand preparing to stop my horse and trap me. I gasped and harshly yanked back my reins causing my horse to yank its head back and desperately try to brake itself. However, the titan cupped both me and my horse inside its hands. I quickly reached for my pistol however I froze when I heard the sound of metal and skin. The hands around me let go and the titan fell back. I looked up at the soldier who saved me. Around the age of twenty, he had long dirty blonde hair that fell down to nearly his shoulders. He had looked back at me with a slightly proud and relieved face.
"That was a close one. Are you alright?" he asked me.
I nodded my head, "I'm okay. Thank you."
He nodded his head and used his gear to fly back up to the rooftops and away from my sight. I stared at where we flew off and sighed in relief to me still being alive.
I overestimated myself and it nearly costed my life.
I heard a small roar behind me. I looked behind me and saw Alph run up to me, followed by Mira and Con. I lifted the cloth on my eye and stared him in the eye.
"Alpha! Are you alright?!" Alph asked worriedly.
"I'm fine. It just caught me off guard," I explained, "This damn smell... it's so intense."
"Alpha, you can't let it throw you off!" Mira cried, "We're all suffering from it and if one of us falls so do the rest of us!"
"Yeah... Yeah you're right. Alright, everyone split up and slay as many titans as you can. We're clearing out this town."
They each nodded and scattered in different directions. I nodded in approval and turned around to my horse. I took his reins and guided him to the side of the road. Once I made sure he wouldn't run off, I used a group of stacked boxes on the side of a building to climb up to the rooftops. Once on the rooftop, I got a visual of the area. There were titans in almost every direction, all of them now moving with a little more motivation. I noticed one titan standing still with its hands at its sides, dripping with fresh blood. My eyes widened in horror.
"Holy crap..." I commented.
The titan turned its head with the body of the human it was devouring still trapped in its jaws. His arms weakly dangled and his skin was pale from blood loss. Although his face and hair were tainted with blood, I could still recognize him. The man who saved my life... My hands tightened into a fist as I glared at the titan. I jumped off the rooftop onto the ground and ran over to the titan. I drew out my pistol and dagger, approaching the monster from behind. With each step I took, a fire inside me grew stronger and stronger, causing me to go faster and faster. I broke into a run and used the momentum of my run to stab into its ankle, forcing it down. The titan fell over in surprise and released the man from its jaws. I jumped up onto its back and sprinted down to its nape. I stabbed into its nape and carved deep in order to get its nape. The blood smeared onto my hands, burning them but I ignored the pain and continued. I finally managed to pull out its nape, sitting back, feeling the burn of the blood on my hands.
"I'm weaker than I thought," I whispered to myself.
A small groan came out of the man. I jumped in surprise; I thought he was dead. I jumped off the titan's back and hustled over to the man lying on the ground. He was barely breathing and blood stained his clothing as well as dripped out of his nose and mouth. He looked up at me, wheezing in order to get air.
"Alpha J-June..." he struggled to mutter out.
I kneeled beside him and took his hands in mine. Seeing this man like this started to bring tears to my eyes, "You saved my life... I wish I could've saved yours..."
He shook his head gently, "I served humanity... by helping one of its hopes...Knowing that... makes it all worth it..."
I bowed my head and a wiped away a tear that started to run down my cheek, "I wish I could've repaid you somehow."
"Repay me?" he smiled a little, "Making my death not in vain... is enough... so live and fight for humanity... All... of y...ou..."
His hand felt heavy in mine as his eyes closed and his head sat back onto the ground. He made one heavy deep breath until it was just silence.
I closed my eyes and sighed. "You won't be forgotten. Rest in peace."
