Chapter 8

Emmett and Rosalie were coming over to us, strangely at a human pace and then suddenly Rose sped at vampire speed and arrived, Emmett right after her.

I said. "I see you guys are back early."

Emmett laughed and said. "And miss a game of Baseball, yeah right!"

I grinned despite myself and Rose had an angry look in her eyes. I frowned and gave her a warning look not to say anything.

Emmett grinned. "You're the one dating my little sister."

I snorted and pushed him. "I'm over a century older than you, little brother."

He smirked and said. "I'm bigger than you, Arya."

I raised my eyebrows. "No one is fatter than you".

He held a hand to his chest. "Fat? Me, I don't think so."

Roy gave a nod when Emmett looked at him and he held out his hand and was about to pull it back when Emmett grabbed it, shaking with a grin. "This one has manners, though he should know better than to shake hands with a vampire." I rolled my eyes and Rosalie ran off, a little farther from us all.

Emmett gave us a sheepish or as sheepish as he can look and ran off after her.

Roy chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "I can see myself getting along with him."

I nodded, laughing too. "Yeah, I don't think anyone could ever stay mad at Emmett, though trust me after a while he gets annoying."

He shrugged and I moved toward Esme and Carlisle.

I sort of dropped Roy off by them and winked at him. "Watch if you can." He rolled his eyes with a smile and I spied Jasper and Alice throwing the ball to each other. I heard Edward and Bella a little, they were getting close.

I ran over to Alice and snatched the ball from midair and rolled away from Jasper and he fell to the ground and he got back up. I waved it in front of them. "Are you looking for this?"

Jasper smirked at me as I tossed it to Alice. "You want to see who can get the ball the most."

I smirked back. "If you willing to lose."

Jasper snickered, shaking his head. "Dear Arya, I never lose."

I flicked my eyes to the ball. "We'll see about that."

Alice rolled her eyes at us, a smile pulling at her lips. "Are we going to play and are you both going to have a conversation?"

I and Jasper said. "Bring it on." Alice threw it back and I and Jasper raced to get it. Unfortunately, I was going to jump for it, but Jasper gotten in my way and we crashed into each other and hit the ground. The sound was like two boulders smashing into each other. I jumped up as did he and we threw the ball around and raced each other for it. I was having a good time, after the times I had with Roy. I heard him muttering at me and his stare. I grinned and waved at him. He grinned at me and waved back, I winked, but he obviously not that he could see it.

I then heard Edward laughing and my eyes widened. "Looks like they're here." Alice grinned and I ran over to Roy, making him jump.

He shook his head with a smile. "I should get used to that."

I put an arm around his shoulder and kissed him on the head. "Roy, you could never get used to me." He rolled his eyes, grinning. Bella and Edward walked over, only to have Emmett, Esme and Alice come over. They were talking, but I ignored it as it was not important.

He asked. "So, what do you want to do after this?"

I shrugged. "Anything, I could stay with you again if you want."

He nodded. "That sounds good, but I have one question."

I raised an eyebrow. "Ask away."

He looked at me, eyebrows furrowed together. "How do you know where I live?" I felt a little awkward at that one, when I first told Edward it would be wired for a human to stay in their room while they sleep, I was not kidding.

I heard him chuckle and I gave him a glare, he was not helping!

I said. "I followed your scent." Half-truths work too.

He looked at me blankly and asked. "You followed my scent?" I nodded, amused by the bewildered look on his face.

Edward called out. "Time to play." I ran on the field and stood between 3rd and 4th base.

I started singing a little. "Take me out to the ball game..." I heard chuckles and Emmett's laugh. He was up to bat and Alice was pitching, Jasper a little bit behind Emmett. He missed the first one and I whistled while giving a clap.

Emmett glared at me. "Just you wait, Arya!" I grinned and looked at Roy, his eyes were lit up in excitement and his eyes were wide. Emmett taped the ground with his bat lightly and said. "Batter up!"

He did hit it the second time and Edward sent me a look as it went to the forest with a CRACK. I smirked as he caught it. We then played and when it was Jasper's turn to bat, he ran to first place and collided with Carlisle. Bella looked worried and Roy watched with almost awe. Emmett was winning by one.

Finally it was my time to bat. I vampire jumped to where home base was. I swung the bat, Rose was behind me.

Roy smiled at me and I winked. "I am going to run this out far."

He nodded, laughing. "That I'd like to see."

I looked at Bella and said. "Dear Bella, watch this! I'm going to shame your dear boyfriend."

Edward called slightly. "Don't count on that!" The ball was pitched and I swung, but missed the first time. I sighed and the next ball was a miss again, my mind felt a little clouded right now. I swore under my breath.

Esme said. "Arya Scott Cullen!"

I said. "Sorry Ma'am." I got ready and when the ball came, I swung and didn't stop to look, I ran. Emmett was coming at me fast and I pushed myself a bit. After Edward, I was the fastest. I just gotten to 'home' again as Emmett was close to me. He tagged me as my foot touched the base.

We looked to Esme; she called out with a smile. "Safe." I faced Emmett with a grin as Edward and Jasper along with Alice cheered. Emmett pushed me a little and I went up to Roy.

He said after kissing me. "That was amazing."

I nodded with a soft smile. "It was, wasn't it?" I circled my hands around the back of his neck and kissed him, without break, not feeling thirsty until I let go.

I shrugged as I saw him huffing a little. "Sorry, I forgot humans need to breathe."

He rolled his eyes at me. "Sorry for being human then."

I pressed my hands to his face and leaned closer. "There is no problem with that, trust me. Even if it drives me crazy I love the flush in your cheeks and the color of beautiful blue eyes."

I heard Emmett got 'Blah' and I rolled my eyes and the flush I was talking about showed up.

I whispered in his ear. "Ignore him, the rest of my family does." I lay on the ground as did Roy and we watched them play for a while. Soon, I kissed Roy and joined in. We haven't actually played in a while. Then since we were having fun, something had to ruin it. Alice froze and Edward went to her side, I went over to them too.

Esme questioned. "Alice?"

I frowned as I saw her glance at Roy and Bella. I asked. "What is going on?"

The others in our family came over and Carlisle asked. "What is it, Alice?" Alice looked worried and Jasper was almost on top of her, shading her protectively.

Alice was worried. "They heard us playing; that changed their course." By 'They' she means the vampires that were supposed to pass over. Carlisle looked at Edward, hoping to get a read on their minds no doubt.

Edward said; his voice tight. "Less than 5 minutes, they want to play."

I asked. "Do they know about Roy and Bella?"

He shook his head. "Not that I can read."

Carlisle asked. "Could you leave?"

I said. "Not while carrying, plus we don't want them to have a reason for hunting."

I frowned as Emmett asked. "How many?"

Alice told him three and of course Emmett wanted to take them on. Out of all of them, only I and Jasper have really fighting experience. If it comes to that of course. In the end, we looked to Carlisle for the answer. Even if the coven was unusual, he was the leader and we awaited his council and final answer.

He did finally answer. "Let's just continue the game. Alice said they were skimpily curious." I scowled, to me when a vampire is curious, a human dies. Edward narrowed his eyes at my thoughts, but I ignored him. Edward told her to keep her hair down.

I said to Roy. "Keep quiet no matter what." He nodded, staying silent.

I grabbed his hand and held it with my other too. "Don't worry; I won't let anything hurt you."

He shook his head. "It's fine." Esme and Edward were talking about how hungry they were. We still played to keep up pretense, buy we stayed close. Rosalie looked angry and I knew why. I ignored it; she could get over it later. Edward looked slightly annoyed, my guess he gotten a peak at her thoughts.

Edward said to Bella. "I'm sorry, Bella. It was stupid, irresponsible to expose you like this. I'm so sorry."

I felt guilt at this, he was right. I said to Roy. "I'm so sorry about this too, being with me is such a danger and I never wanted to do this to you."

He gave me a kind smile I didn't understand. "It's fine, Arya, really. I choose to be with you for a reason even before I found out what you were and after. I don't care, but I do care about is what the kind of person you are and that is why I'm here." I looked at him, love in my eyes along with a little awe at the feelings he could have for a monster like me.

I grabbed his hand and squeezed his hand gently and let go. We smiled at each other and I could fell the eyes of everyone. We then looked ahead and from the woods, I heard the footfalls of the three separate people, no doubt vampires and I could smell the human blood in their veins.

Before they arrived, I saw them. Two were male and the third was female. She had red hair, I mean bright red. The male walked in front had black hair and the other one had light brown hair. I heard Roy heart speed up, no doubt looking at their eyes, remembering what I told him about that.

The one in front smiled and went to Carlisle. "We thought we heard a game. I'm Laurent, these are Victoria and James."

"I'm Carlisle, this is my family. Emmett and Jasper, Roy and Arya, Rosalie, Esme, Alice, Edward and Bella."

Laurent asked. "Do you have any more rooms for more players?"

I tensed my muscles and crossed my arms over my chest. Carlisle said. "Actually we're just finishing up, perhaps another time. Are you planning to stay in the area long?" Laurent and Carlisle were going back and forth and I could tell that Jasper was helping slightly. Carlisle was talking about how we live here permanently and I could tell he was surprised, most of us are killers, nomads or both.

Carlisle said. "Why don't you come back to our home with us and we can talk comfortably?"

They made the arrangements and Carlisle said. "We'll show you the way if you want to run with us. Roy and Arya, you can go with Edward and Bella to get the Jeep." Then wind blew in the area and I stiffened, dammit! Edward, get ready. James spun in a crouch as did Edward. He eyed Roy who looked wide eyed, fearful. I snarled, getting into my own crouch in front of him.

Carlisle said his voice final. "They are with us". My eyes narrowed as James shifted and I moved too, growling.

James said. "You brought snacks?" I snarled again itching closer. Lifting my upper lip to show my teeth, a warning. I fight well, I can deal with him. Laurent was shocked that we were with humans, but Emmett backed us up. I bared my teeth at James, he was the most threat.

Laurent said. "It seems like we have a lot to learn about each other." Alice and Emmett came over to us.

"Arya." My eyes flickered to Carlisle; I gave a nod and stood next to Roy closer than before. I saw Edward grab Bella to pull her toward the car and I grabbed his hand, doing the same. I tossed him on my back without stopping and waiting until he had a grip on me before I started running, just short of Edward, Alice and Emmett behind me. I felt rage; he dare try to hurt Roy? He is not his to kill; he's mine to be with!

We got to the Jeep and Roy asked. "What about your car?"

"I'll get it later. Shh." I let Roy in the back as Bella was next to me and Roy and Emmett, while Alice and Edward were in the front. Roy was between Emmett and Bella.

I growled under my breath at the no space I had and decided to go on the roof. Edward opened Emmett window, I jumped and pulled myself landing on the roof in a crouch, a hand flat on the hood.

I heard Roy said. "What is she doing?"

"Climbing the roof, don't worry." That was Alice. I looked ahead as they talked about leaving, which I already suspected.

Roy yelled. "Wait, what?! NO! Bella's right, stop the car."

Edward snapped. "Shut up, Roy." I growled at his tone at Roy.

He yelled. "No, these are my choices not theirs!"

I swung my head until in was sticking in the window. "What are you doing?"

Roy looked at me with wide pleading eyes. "Arya, please! This is putting my mom in danger."

I frowned. "But staying would put you in danger, I can't have that, I won't."

Alice tried to intervene and I really wished I had another way, but I didn't. Edward was talking

about how James really wanted them and I growled, over my second time dead will that happen! Edward slowed and she began to make sense. I slipped in the car. He needed me more than I needed space.

Alice said. "Look at our options for a minute."

I said. "What options, both their lives are on the line." Edward agreed with me. Bella decided to say she was not leaving Charlie. Roy yelled he was not leaving his mom.

I was stressed and then I said. "Listen if what Edward says is true, this will be a hunt and he will have to die, no matter what. I've been around his type and I don't need to read minds or feel emotions to know this."

Suddenly Alice said. "There is another option."

Edward was pissed and hissed at her. I furrowed my eyebrows at him. He snapped. "It's not even worth explaining, I'll tell you later."

I nodded and moved close to Roy, wrapping my arms around him. "Don't worry; everything is going to be fine." I kissed his cheek, jaw and overall face.

The others ignored me and he whispered. "I can't lose her, I'm serious."

I kissed his hair and pressed my nose in it, happy that whatever he was dulled the smell of his blood. "I know, we'll do our best."

Bella spoke up. "Does anyone want to listen to my idea?"

Edward denied that, but I said. "Go on."

Edward shot me a glare; Bella sent me a thankful look and said. "You take me back. I tell my dad I want to go home to Phoenix. I pack my bags. We wait till this tracker is watching, and then we run. He'll follow us and leave Charlie alone. Then you can take me to any damned place you want."

I raised my eyebrows that actually sounded smart. Roy said. "I could do the same thing with my Mom." I was still worried and so was Edward, but we agreed in the end. I left with Roy on my back once he stopped the car enough and I ran to his home. We saw his mother's car in the driveway.

He sighed. "This is going to be bad."

I said. "Roy, look at me." I grabbed his face with my hands and said. "Don't worry, whatever you have to do or say, will be good. You would rather have her upset then dead." I kissed him and pulled away. He went in the house and slammed the door.

I heard. "Mom, I'm leaving!"

I heard his Mom. "Roy what are you talking about?!"

Roy said. "Don't make it harder than it has to be."

"I miss dad and he was right, I never should have moved in with you. I need a man, not divorced women with nothing to show for it". He ran out stomping and I winced when I actually saw tears in his eyes. "I hate myself."

I sighed and said. "Come on, Roy." He gotten on my back and I ran home, as fast as possible.
