Chapter 10

Roy Pov

I decided since I was going to die here, I would try to protect Bella, since that was all I was able to do. As a guy, I feel I'm obligated to protect a girl, not sexist, but it's the way my Mom taught me, so…

I was frozen though, scared stiff. I wanted to pretend like I was ready to go out and you know, just die…but as much as I loved all the time I had with Arya, I was scared. I didn't want to die. The blood was pumping inside me so much I could almost feel it.

I shook my head slightly, took a deep breath and walked inside with Bella, me ahead of her a little. She didn't say anything, but I could tell she appreciated the gesture, even though I could not do much or anything really against a vampire. I might as well have been paper for all the good I did us. We walked inside the studio, for one it was spacious and 2 floors, one of them were dark colored and the other one was lit. folding chairs were also against the walls.

But considering I don't have the vampire senses, I'm not surprised one bit, even if frustrated me a lot. I heard a voice call franticly. "Bella? Bella?"

I bet that was her mom. I felt my eyes dart around nervously, where's my mom? I then heard "Roy! My baby!"

My eyes widened, it was her! She sounded upset, scared even. She of course had every right to be. I was angry though, how could they reduce my own mother to that?! Bella ran toward the noise and I followed her. "Roy! What did I tell you!?"

What? "Bella, you scared me! Don't you ever do that again!"

This was too confusing and it was even more when I heard a sigh in relief from what I recognized to be my mom and a laugh from the other women's voice. I spun around with Bella next to me and my mouth gaped open at what I saw. 2 normal sized t.v screens showed me on one of them with my Mom and Bella with her's. I remembered that, when I was about 14 and gotten in a MTV bike accident, scared my mom to death, broke my right leg, left arm and was scraped up.

I shook my head slightly as both screens went blue. Bella looked at me in guilt. I knew what she was thinking, I would have been furious if Bella hid this from me, steaming mad. I smiled slightly. "It's fine."

He put the remote down and turned to us, I kept my eyes on him. He said. "Sorry about that, Bella, Roy, but isn't it better your mothers didn't really have to be involved in this?"

I felt Bella slump next to me in relief and I understand where she was coming from. But then I also felt rage, trust me I'm happy my mom is safe, but he hurt Arya so much and I didn't have to do this, Arya already told me, it was just a game.

Bella said "Yes."

I tightened my lips from saying anything, right now was not the time to be angry with him. We had to figure how this would go. And when he kills me, I do not want to be tortured. I felt a cold shiver down my spine at the thought. I still glared at James.

He tilted his head, his red eyes watching me, like a predator. I knew the whole Predator and Prey metaphor more than ever before. He looked at Bella. "You don't sound angry that I tricked you."

Bella said. "I'm not."

He looked back at me. "You on the other hand, seem furious." His mouth was quirking up slightly, like it amused him greatly. It made my lips thin even more. I missed Arya more than ever. James looked back at Bella. "How odd, you really mean it. I will give you your strange coven that much; you humans can be quite interesting. I guess I can see the draw of observing you. It's amazing-some of you seem to have no sense of your own self-interest at all."

James looked back at me and I forced myself to stare into the eyes that struck the uttermost fear in my mind and heart. "You are angry, but not for thinking you I bet."

I scowled. "You got that right."

He tilted his head again. "Interesting." If I saw this guy on the street before I met Arya I would have thought nothing of him, just an average guy, minding his own business and going on with his day. He then stared at us both somehow. "I suppose you're both going to tell your boyfriend and girlfriend will avenge you." That made me sick to my stomach, I knew Arya would. She would be filled with rage seeing me dead and I feel she will almost go insane. Her reaction to them just staring at me was proof enough.

Bella replied back to him. "No, I don't think so. At least, I asked him not to."

James asked. "And what was his reply to that?"

Bella continued. "I don't know, I left him a letter."

I held in the snort, really? How could you say all that in a letter? Sure a warning, but in a letter? The gravity of the situation does not compare. I swallowed once I caught James red eyed gaze on me."Possibly, depending on how she feels."

James mouth quirked in a dark smirk that made me stiff. "Yes, considering her reaction, it makes sense."

His brows were raised in amusement as he stared at Bella. "How romantic, a last letter. And do you think he will honor it?"

I doubt that, Edward was very protective of Bella as Arya was of me. He would go ballistic.

Bella answered him. "I hope so."

I'm not telling him about my letter to Arya, just for what? Something else to mock me with.

James went on with this 'hunt' being too easy for him. He said he had information on us and lured us here with it, getting Victoria to check it out. He then guessed me and Bella would be together, since we were not with Edward and Arya. He then watched over Arya and Edward to see what they were doing, then saw them take a plane to Arizona. The more the red eyed vampire talked the angrier I gotten; he was making my blood boil.

He messed with my family, Bella's and the Cullen's just for the sake of some hunt. James, the monologue guy in this disaster decided to finish up. "Very easy, you know, not really up to my standards. So, I hope you see, I'm hoping you're wrong about your boyfriend. Edward, isn't it?"

James decided to let him eyes look at me. "And I know Arya, wasn't it? She will be furious when she finds your body. Filled with such rage and she will try to hunt me down and I will kill her too."

I scowled deeply at him, anger overpowering my fear. "She will be the one ripping you to shreds." I snapped at him.

I heard Bella's intake of breath and swore myself out in my head at what I said. I don't regret or doubt what I said, but I should try not to piss off the vampire who's here to kill me.

James raised his brows at me. "I was waiting for your outburst." He took out a video camera and balanced on the stereo he used for the videos. He fiddled with it for a minute and said. "I'm sorry, but I don't think they'll be able to resist hinting me after they watch this. And I wouldn't want them to miss anything, it's all for them, of course. You're simply humans, who unfortunately was in the wrong place at the wrong time, running indisputably running with the wrong crowd, I might add."

This guy really enjoyed talking, didn't he? I don't understand why villains like to explain their own plans. James stepped forward smiling and I tensed more, muscles coiled. He said. "Before we begin…"

I felt nervousness stir inside of me, can't he get it over with already! He's driving me insane. I flickered my eyes to Bella and she looked as nervous as I felt.

James said. "I would just like to rub it in, just a little bit. The answer was there all along, and I was so afraid Edward would see that and ruin my fun. It happened once, oh, ages ago. The one and only time my prey escaped me. You see the vampire who was so stupidly fond of this little victim made the choice that you're Edward or his Arya was too weak to make. When the old one knew I was after his little friend, he stole her asylum where he worked- I never understand the obsession some vampires seem to form with you humans-and so soon as he freed her he made her safe. She didn't even seem to notice the pain, poor little creature. She's been stuck in that black hole of a cell for so long. A hundred years earlier and she would have burned at the stake for her visions. In the nineteen-twenties it was the asylum and the shock treatment. When she opened her eyes, strong with her fresh youth, it was like she'd never seen the sun before. The old vampire made her a strong new vampire, and there was no reason for me to touch her then. He gave a sigh and said. I destroyed the old one in vengeance."

My eyes widened when I went through what he said. From what Arya told me…

"Alice." I and Bella breathed out.

James went on. "Yes, your little friend. I was surprised to see her in the clearing. So I guess her coven ought to be able to derive some comfort from this experience. I get you both, but they get her. The one victim who escaped me, quite an honor actually. And she did smell so delicious. I still regret I never got to taste…She smelled even better than either you do. Sorry-I don't mean to be offensice. You both have a nice smell. Bella, you're more floral." He smirked darkly at me. "Roy, I think you have a pine smell."

If I was not disturbed before I certainly was now. Someone describing my well just took the cake. He walked up to Bella and sniffed her hair. I back off a couple of steps. I said. "Hey." I frowned.

He glided over to me and I regretted speaking. He said his voice low and calm. "Don't worry, after I drain the life out of her, you'll be next. Maybe I'll bite you and wait awhile until the pain is almost gone and then snap your neck." His voice grew calm to dark and threatening. The quick death I was wishing for does not sound likely. I knew I was paler than before. He back off a little and said. "No, I don't understand. Well, I suppose we should get on with it. And then I can call your friends and tell them where to find you, and my little message."

If that much scare tactic was not enough (that is what this was), he began to circle the both of us, and that predator look in his red eyes and face. He then crouched, and grinned, a slow grinned that turned out to be all sharp white teeth. I steadied myself, curling my hands into fists, feeling them tremble in this fear that this was it.

I was then horrified to hear Bella running. Is she insane?! That will never work. He then smirked and I stumbled away and before I could blink, his hand incased my throat and I sputtered as he increased pressure. I gasped as I was then thrown far and smashed my shoulder into the ground and landed on my back. I choked back a scream as the agony and head flooded the area that seemed to radiate.

Somewhere close I heard Bella scream and a crack. I tried to scrabble, away somewhere, get out of here, away from my certain death. I felt a grin on the arm with the non-hurt shoulder. I tensed and looked at James through squinted eyes. I saw Bella with a broken leg and blood everywhere. I looked back at the vampire. James grinned. "Did you think I forgot about you? Huh, Roy?"

I pushed away from him and he shook his head, grip tightening and moving me closer. "Since I broke her leg, it would be fair to do the opposite. Hm?"

I shook my head curling away from him and he flexed his hand. A scream tore through my throat as it easily cracked and white hot, blinding pain hit me. A grip on my shirt (ripping it0, tossed me somewhere and I screaming as I landed on my arm. It was agony! It hurt, really hurt so bad. All I could think about was pain. Until new pain sliced across my other arm. I rolled a little in more pain.

Bella than fainted in front of me. I gasped saw her raise her hand in front of her. if the last thing I do is to help someone…

I moved in his way, screaming when sharp pierced my forearm (the bad one) and I closed my eyes with a shuddering breath. It was racing inside me, it burned, and it pulled! Fire was the one thing I could think of. I felt myself getting fainted. I then heard a roar, it was angry and instead of making me feel fear, it relaxed me. The sharp (teeth) thing left me and I passed out.

Arya Pov

I heard an agonizing scream when we got into earshot. My head shot up, Roy! Come on, Edward. I could hear the family a little bit behind us. I raced forward pushing my speed to the max and raising toward that I heard it and then I got smacked with the smell of blood. I growled and jumped where I saw him crouched over a bloody Roy and Bella. I already felt that rage build up. I growled lowly and snarled, roaring loudly at James. He quickly latched onto Bella and Edward came to me, growling the same manner I did. I sped at him and he ran off, Edward at my heels.

Carlisle called. "Arya, Edward come here!" I growled at him, he wanted me to do what? I snapped my head back and froze at the crescent bite on his arm. No! He couldn't have done that! Not, Roy! I felt Jasper and Emmett rush past me to James. I sped to Roy's side. Edward was near Bella.

I put his face in my hands. "God, no. Roy, no, no, no, no!" I pressed my forehead to his. I felt it inside me, the brokenness of him being far gone into what we are by force. It made me cry tearless sobs), but crying none the less. How could I let this happen? I love this human. I felt him stir and he arched up, a scream of pain past gritted teeth. "Roy!'

I heard Edward call Bella's name. Carlisle says. "She's lost some blood, but the head wound isn't deep. Watch out for the leg, its broken."

I finally smelt it in my worry. The blood. It was Roy and Bella. I pressed my hands to my nose and stopped breathing, the ache in my throat driving me insane. But it was in my head. I managed to ask. "Carlisle, what about Roy?"

He placed a hand on my back and then looked over Roy. He frowned as he touched certain places and said. He dislocated his shoulders, scratched an arm deeply that will need stitches and broken his arm." I hissed and saw Emmett and Jasper killed James, I wanted to do it, so bad. Roy coughed some blood. I stared in horror. "Ribs might not be in the best shape either for either of them."

I then remembered something. "He is bit!"

Edward jaw slacked in horror. "So is Bella."

Carisle looked before of us over. "You both will have to suck the venom out if you want to keep them human."

Edward was determined, but I was stiff with fear. I shook my head. "I-I can't!"

"Arya, you have to unless-"

Roy screaming in pain and I could almost feel that pain. They held her down as he sucked the venom away. I watched feelfully as Roy jerked. "Okay!"

Alice came by my side and held his shoulder down. I grabbed his arm and he screamed (I grimaced) and I sunk my teeth in the bite mark. I stiffened with pleasure, the blood (better than that natural animal blood), I'm a vampire, and this is what I'm supposed to be drinking. The nasty venom from before was gone and I still sucked, it wasn't enough…

I was yanked away and fell back a few feet in a crouch. I stood up and whipped my mouth. I crouched by Roy and his eyes opened with a smile. "Arya?"

I nodded. "Yes."

Roy said. "I love you."

I replied. "I love you too."

I looked at his arm in guilt, if I wasn't grabbed…

I saw Bella fall asleep and Edward pick her up. Roy said. "I'm tired."

I smiled. "Then go to sleep." His eyes fluttered closed and I smiled and ran a hand down his cheek. I was extra careful to tuck his arm against his chest as I lifted him by the knees and back in my arms, his head falling on my chest. I ignored the whole conversation until Bella told us what happened, that he tricked them about Bella's and Roy's mothers.

Of course Roy would risk his life for his family. Carlisle gave us a nod and we all ran toward the hospital. I was in relief, because Roy was okay and he was allowed to stay human. We kept to the forest, unseen by humans.

There it is, the tenth chapter. This is almost done. Another 2 or three chapters.

Deidaralover1234: I sort of have a half plan here, to sort of build the story up. I don't know when Roy will be a vampire, but obviously as you saw, not now. They are close, but for now, Roy needs to be a human. Plus more will be explained next chapter.

Gwestiel: I agree with you there, I also love the hunt too. This one was really emotional. It's a good part of the story and really shows things on both sides for the relationship.

As for updates, they won't be every day, since I have other stories I want to update before school starts and I don't have any more prewritten chapters. This chapter was all new.
