Hello Lovely readers! Let me just start off with an apology for how lacking I have been in the update department. Things just have been super crazy and I haven't had the time to write.. I will try to update more frequently. And now without further ado, Chapter 7.

I do not own Gilmore Girls or Jess Mariano. I wish that I did but I don't..

Zoey had been gone almost two hours and Jess had serious writers block. Everything that he typed sounded wrong or idiotic. He needed a break. Jess turned his gaze from his computer screen to his phone. 'Should I text her?' It was the same question that he had in his head for almost forty-five minutes. He didn't want to put a damper on her plans if she was having fun, but he also wanted to make sure that she was okay. Jess decided to pick up his phone and text her.

'Hey Zo, I think that I might want to join you guys. Which club are you at? -JM' Simple enough, harmless even. Jess rose from his desk and look down at what he was wearing; sweatpants and a tee shirt. He walked over to his closet and picked out a pair of jeans, changing into them effortlessly as he heard his phone buzz. He paused before retrieving it from his desk.

'I don't remember the name, but I know that we're only a couple of blocks from the apartment. It's the one on the corner of the street that my work is on. Hope that helps. -Z' Jess tried to think of where she was talking about, and then he remembered. "Oh." He said out loud to no one in particular. The club that she was describing was one of the nicer ones. Jess stuffed his phone in his back pocket as he picked a button up shirt. As he was halfway through buttoning it closed, he wondered if it was too formal. He shook his head and ushered the thought away. It looked fine, it's not like he was wearing dress pants with it.

Jess finished getting ready and closed his laptop on his way out of his room. He double checked that he had everything he needed before he left the apartment. The club wasn't too far away and it was nowhere near as crowded as he thought it would be. He got in within 30 minutes. It helped that he knew the guy manning the rope. It took his eyes a few minutes to adjust to the lighting. The inside of the club didn't seem to big and most of the place was the dance floor with a bar off to the side. Jess thought that he should start there before he tackled the dance floor.

Zoey was having a great time with her friends. They were drinking and just letting loose. This was the second bar that they had been to so far, and Zoey liked this one better. The alcohol had put her in a dancing mood and every song had a great beat. "To Freedom!" Zoey heard Isabelle cheer as she put an arm around her and took a shot. The rest of the group was at a table, talking to each other and sipping on their drinks. Zoey smiled. This was exactly what she needed. She was done wallowing and feeling sorry for herself. That was when "Timber" by Pitbull feat. Ke$ha came on. It only took two seconds for Zoey to be pulled onto the dancefloor by Isabelle.

Jess sat on a bar stool sipping on a Sam Adams as he watched the dancefloor. He really wasn't a fan of "Timber" but that was because Luke's daughter had come to visit and couldn't get enough of the song and had to play it almost constantly. A girl who didn't even look old enough to be in the club tried to approach him, but he assumed that his expression wasn't the most inviting since she suddenly turned the other way. Jess casually surveyed the dancefloor once more, not seeing his roommate. Well, she had to come up for a drink sometime, right? He didn't even bother with his phone, since he figured that she wouldn't hear it if it went off.

Zoey danced with Belle until the song switched over to "Really Don't Care" by Demi Lovato. "I'm gonna get something to drink." She called to Belle. She girl smiled and nodded. Zoey made her way to the bar until she was pulled into someone who was semi-aggressively swaying against her. Zoey looked back, slightly put off, to find a good looking guy who happened to also look like a total tool. She tried to push away from him, but his hands were on her waist. The guy was squeezing tightly. Zoey took a moment to compose herself before she felt him start to grind on her. "Excuse you.. I'm not interested. Now let go of me before I knee you where no man wants to be kneed." She warned him forcefully. The stranger went wide eyed and stepped away. "Thank you. Have a good rest of your night." She said as she straightened her dress and started back to the bar. It was only two steps before she realized that a familiar guy stood in front of her.

"I'm impressed." Jess said with a smirk. "Not every girl would have gone straight for that threat." Zoey blushed slightly.

"Thanks. My dad taught me well, and I didn't have any pepper spray handy.. I'm just happy that you could make it tonight. You looked a little tense when I left." She replied as they walked to the bar to the beat of the Demi Lovato song. It didn't take long for them to order. Zoey thanked the bartender and took the drinks. "Why don't you come and meet the group." She offered as she walked towards the table where her friends sat.

The group, which consisted of four other women and a couple of guys, looked like they were in high spirits and were in deep conversation. Jess only recognised Isabelle and one of the guy from the diner that Zoey worked at. "Guys!" Zoey called over the music. "This is Jess. Jess this is Danielle, Anna, Stefan, Claire, Isabelle, and Tyler." Jess nodded as she introduced each person. He doubted that he would remember all of their names later, but he would try. "It's nice to meet you guys." He responded politely over the sound system.

Conversation and drinks flowed for the next hour. Familiar beats would come over the loudspeaker and the girls would drag the boys out to dance or just dance with each other. Jess would occasionally catch himself watching Zoey dance when she didn't pull him out there with her. Tyler was also at the table watching the girls. "Really something, isn't she?" Tyler said with a knowing smirk. Jess looked over at the guy who was a little shorter than himself. "Who?" He responded, taking a sip of his beer.

"I think that you know who I'm talking about." Tyler responded, glancing over at Jess.

"Clearly I don't."

"..Zoey. I couldn't help but notice you watching her. You have a thing for her?"

"Oh, no. We're just roommates. I want to make sure that she's okay. Why, do you?" He inquired casually.

"We've been friends for a while, but no. Just being observant." He said, drinking his beer.

Another half hour passed, making almost two o'clock. By then the majority of the group was drunk, including Zoey, who was laying her head on the table trying to sleep. "I hate to ruin the fun, but it' probably time to go. I should get her home." Jess told everyone. The goodbyes were slurred and loving. Jess put his arm around Zoey's waist to steady her while she walked.

"Thanks for coming out tonight." She slurred as they entered their apartment building, seeing the elevator with a sign. "Out of order? What is this, Big Bang Theory?" Jess only smiled as he got them up the flights of stairs and safely into their apartment. Zoey stumbled to her bedroom with a little bit of help from Jess. She smiled at him once she was seated on the bed. "Tonight was fun." She said, Jess leaning against the doorframe.

"It was." He grinned. "I'm going to bed though. Tomorrow's going to be rough.." Jess stood up straight and started to close her door before he heard her speak. "Yeah, it is.. Goodnight Jess." She said with a sleepy smile. "Goodnight Zoey."
