Hello my lovely readers! Happy December 1st! Long time no see! I hope that the Thanksgiving holiday was kind to everyone. This chapter might be a little bit longer than the others since I wanted so much to happen at the party. I hope that you all enjoy!
The party had been going on for about an hour before Isabelle suggested the first high school type of game. Spin the bottle. Jess looked on from the couch with a beer in his hand. Zoey was talking to Tyler over in the corner over by the window. It was almost a delayed reaction when he touched her waist and she scooted back. Jess didn't realize it but he was starting to scowl. "If looks could kill." A man said with a chuckle beside Jess. Jess looked up to see Stefan. Jess lightened up a little. "Hey Stefan."
"Come on everyone. Spin the bottle." Isabelle prompted. Soon people were gathering in a circle. Zoey found her way next to Jess who was out of the circle.
"Not in the mood to play?" Zoey asked discreetly. She looked over in time to see Jess shake his head. "Me either."
"Zoey, you're not gonna play?" Isabelle asked, rather loudly. A couple of people looked back at her.
"No, I'm not really feeling it. Besides, this wasn't really my thing in high school." She explained. "Maybe the next game." Zoey crossed her legs.
The game started and Zoey couldn't lie, it was entertaining to watch and sometimes very awkward. While it was going on, Zoey got herself and Jess a couple of shots. She handed one to Jess with a smile. "Bottoms up." She said before turning the shot glass up and downing it. Jess eyed Zoey and did the same. Soon after he got up from the couch and walked over to the window. Zoey stayed on the couch for a few more minutes before going over there.
"Philly looks really pretty tonight." Zoey said sweetly as she looked up at Jess.
"Yeah, it does." Jess agreed. 'Not as beautiful as you though.' He thought. It was then that the music stopped.
Zoey furrowed her brow and walked over to the ipod. The amplification system that was brought seemed to be dead. "We need my ihome. It's in my room. Would you come and help me. It's plugged in in a tricky spot." Zoey wasn't lying, she couldn't easily get to her plug by herself.
"Yeah, sure." Jess replied, following her to her room while trying to hide a grin.
Zoey turned on the light in her room and headed to her night stand. Jess followed, closing the door behind him. Zoey looked back at him. "Sorry, force of habit." Zoey simply shrugged. She genuinely didn't mind. The plug was behind the nightstand and it was hard to move. Jess sat beside Zoey on the bed while she figured out what needed to happen. Zoey didn't realize how close Jess was to her until she look over at him. It wouldn't have taken too much to just lean forward a little bit more and kiss him, but she tried to refrain.
Jess couldn't help himself from looking at Zoey's dark red lipstick-stained lips and then into her eyes. He couldn't for the life of him figure out why he was hesitating at that moment. Maybe he wasn't quite as bold as he used to be. 'Are you losing your touch?' That little voice inside his head asked him. No. He hadn't. Jess brought his hands up to her face and leaned in, kissing her. Zoey seemed to freeze for a moment before her arms came up to wrap around his neck and her fingers started to tangle into his hair. She leaned into him as he deepened the kiss. Zoey could feel Jess's hands trail down her sides to her waist and she leaned into him. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Jess and Zoey both broke away quickly.
"Zoey? You almost got it? This party needs some music!" Isabelle slurred to the door.
"Yeah, almost done." Zoey called back, a blush evident on her face.
He glanced at Zoey, her lipstick was smeared. He was sure that he had some on him. Zoey grabbed a tissue from her vanity and handed it to him after she went in for another quick kiss. He then wiped the lipstick off of him. She fixed her lipstick before speaking. "We should probably get out there. People might get suspicious."
Jess nodded and got up to move the nightstand, exposing the plug. He took the plug out of the wall and handed the whole device to Zoey. She nodded with a smile, turning on her heel as she started to walk towards the door, the device in her arms. Jess followed closely behind her, extending his arm out to open the door.
Stefan was the first person to look over and see them coming into the living room. He seemed to have a smile on his face as he eyed Jess. The crowd cheered when they figured out that they had the music player. They were the temporary heroes of the party. While Zoey was plugging in the player and setting it up, Jess went over to where Stefan was standing. Stefan nodded at Jess when he saw him heading his way. "Congrats." He said discreetly.
Jess furrowed his brow in confusion. "What?"
"You heard me." Stefan gave him a knowing smile.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Jess replied
"Come on, I know something happened." Stefan smiled, taking a sip of water.
Jess finally conceded. "How did you know?"
"The back of your hair isn't smooth like it was before and a couple of other details that only those that are sober would notice." He chuckled slightly. "So, what was it? If you don't mind me asking of course."
"We kissed." Jess stated, a smile creeping his way on to his face.
"As I said, congrats. It's about time." Stefan smiled once more, taking another sip of his water.
The music was soon blaring once again. "Temporary Bliss" by the Cab was playing. Jess and Stefan started to talk about music. Zoey started to sway to the song and Jess couldn't help but glance over to her every once in a while. "How about you get her a drink or go dance with her?"
Jess snapped out of a daze in time to reply, "I'm sorry. I was just being really rude. I would love to continue this conversation.."
Stefan cut him off. "We'll continue it later." He assured Jess. "Go dance with her."
Stefan saw Jess nod and smile.
Zoey felt the music as her hips swayed, she even sang some of the words that she knew. She felt someone start to sway behind her. She looked behind her to find the familiar crooked smirk that she was starting to love. She found his hands with her own and guided them around her waist, their fingers intertwined. Soon the song switched to a slower tune and Zoey let go of Jess's hands and turned in his arms to face him. She looked into his eyes and smiled, a little bit of color coming to her face.
Isabelle happened on this scene and couldn't help but smile. She took out her iphone and took a picture before seeing a cute guy that she had been flirting with and walked over to him. Various high school type of games were going on at that point.
Jess pulled Zoey in a little tighter and they swayed. "Group picture!" They heard someone declare. "They probably should have done that when everyone was sober." Jess whispered in Zoey's ear. Zoey started to chuckle and nodded.
"At least this way it'll be a funnier picture." Zoey smiled and tried to lead Jess to where the group was gathering. They ended up being closer to the back, but in the picture you could see Jess's arms around Zoey's waist. The group dispersed back to their original mini groups once the picture was taken.
Jess and Zoey grabbed drinks, no longer trusting the ones they had left before. They talked and walked over to the sofa. About the the time Zoey was about to sit down, someone bumped into her and she landed in Jess's lap. Her cheeks were now turning into a nice shade of crimson. "If you wanted to sit in my lap all you had to do was ask." He chuckled, trying to make Zoey smile. He succeeded.
Soon the pair were laughing and drinking. Zoey hadn't moved from Jess's lap. The girl pulled out her phone. "Would you indulge me in some selfies?" She smiled. Against his better judgement, he said yes. Zoey smiled really big and brought the phone up. They did one semi nice one, well as nice as they could manage. Isabelle photo bombed one of the pictures and offered to take a few. "How about something cute?" Zoey suggested. Jess quirked an eyebrow but agreed and wrapped his arms around her waist.
Isabelle started to snap pictures of them once Jess's arms were around Zoey. Zoey decided to kiss Jess on the cheek and when she pulled away, Jess leaned in and kissed her. The kiss was hard at first but softened into a tender kiss. They parted seconds later. "Y'all are too cute." Isabelle chuckled and handed Zoey back her phone.
Zoey blushed and thanked Isabelle for taking their photos. Once she had her phone back, she and Jess looked over the photos. "That one's cute." Zoey pointed out at the one where she was kissing Jess's cheek. Jess nodded slightly. Zoey bit her lip as she put a good filter on it and posted it to instagram after the nice picture they took. When they got to the kissing picture, both of them stopped and looked at each other. Zoey pressed the home button on her phone and put it into her back pocket. She leaned in to kiss him tenderly but it soon turned slightly more passionate as Jess's hands cupped her face. They stopped to the sound of catcalls. The pair were both breathing heavily and their eyes were dark with lust.
The party lasted a couple more hours. Jess and Zoey slowed down their drinking and were mostly sober by the time the majority of the people left. It was 2:30 am by the time everyone except for them and Isabelle and Jeff were left. Isabelle and Jeff were too drunk to drive home, so they stayed there. Jeff slept on the sofa next to a bucket and Isabelle took Zoey's twin bed, which also had a bucket beside it.
"Do you mind if I sleep in your room? My bed seems to be taken.." Zoey finally piped up. She had sleep shorts in her hand already.
"No, I don't mind at all." Jess replied, opening his bedroom door and welcoming her in.
The room was nice. It had a messy desk with his laptop situated on it and books stacked around. As she was looking around at the somewhat tidy room, she couldn't help but notice that Jess had taken his shirt off. She quickly turned to give him privacy. She could've sworn that she heard a chuckle but she just brushed it off. Jess coughed to signify that he was changed and Zoey turned back around. Jess's back was now to her. She took this time to change into her short sleep shorts and coughed when she was ready.
Jess smiled and walked over to his side of the bed which was where Zoey was. Zoey smiled back at him. "Great party." She inserted, she was starting to not like the silence..
"I'll say." Jess said with his crooked smile.
Zoey grinned. "I think that we figured out something important today.." She stated as she stepped forward, starting to close in the gap between them.
"I think that we did too." His smile grew a little bigger. "Which begs the question, are we in a relationship?"
Zoey went up onto her tiptoes and kissed Jess tenderly, his hand instinctively went to her waist which was bare when Zoey raised her arms up to wrap them around his neck. Zoey broke the kiss only to say. "I'm in if you are." Jess brought her in closer to him and turned her so that her back was to the bed and started to slowly back her up, but stopped before the reached it to kiss her in return.
Jess slowly lowered Zoey onto the bed as he French kissed her fervently. Her hands wandered down his back as he lowered himself onto her. Soon his hands had found their way to the drawstring of her shorts. "Jess... too.. soon." Zoey said, out of breath. Jess didn't stop right away, but instead his hand traveled up her shirt to feel her stomach and back. Zoey's kisses were turning sweet before she whispered in his ear. "We should probably get some sleep.. There's plenty of time to find out what both of us likes and dislikes.."
Jess paused, but nodded and kissed her quickly once more. Zoey then took the opportunity to maneuver over to her side of the bed and get under the covers. Jess scooted over next to her once he was under the covers also. He cuddled up to face her and put his arm around her. "Goodnight Jess."
"Goodnight Zoey."
