Chapter 2

The two trainers had set off to the town of Newedon. Happiny was struggling to keep up so Aylen carried her in her arms.

"I was wondering how are you going to catch pokemon with Happiny?" Matilda asked.

"...I don't know but I know we will figure something out. Right, Happiny?" Aylen said.

"Happiny!" Happiny answered.

"Oh, look there is the town. We should get a rest there and figure our route from there."

"Alright."

The two walked into town, looking around with interest. Aylen stopped and pointed at one of the restaurants.

"I think we should eat there and have a rest."

"I agree."

Matilda walked in. Aylen was about to walk in too but she spotted a boy looking around, nervously and scared. He was walking around and asking people a few questions. They were pointing directions. Aylen watched the boy became more panicked. She became curious and went over to the boy.

"Is something the matter?" she asked.

"Yeah, I was asking the people if they know where the Pokémon center is but they all told me the nearest pokemon center is in the other town and that is

around a two hour walk. However, I don't have that much time. My chikorita is injured."

"Give him to me," Aylen said as she took the chikorita gently.

She examined the chikorita and noticed it was burned very badly. She reached into her bag and took a burn heal. She spray the medicine to chikorita and the burn was starting to get better.

"What happened?" Maltida asked.

"Well, I was walking to this town and," the boy laughed nervously. "Well, I was never really the careful or observant type. I step on a tepig.

"A tepig?" Matilda asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, and it got angry at me and attack me. Chikorita protected me and now he is hurt because of me."

"Chiko," Chikorita spoke, trying to reassure his master that he was fine.

"Well, the burn wound is getting better thanks to the burn heal but you should go to the Pokémon center so Nurse Joy can check over it."

"Thank you so much."

"And next time, you should at least have a burn heal in your bag in case something like this happen again."

"Yeah, and watch where you are walking," Maltida chuckled.

"Yeah, sorry. I was so busy thinking well, uh, you know my parents would always say, "get your heads out of the clouds"."

The two laughed and followed the boy as he walked to the Pokémon center.

"Oh, it seems I forgot to introduce myself. I am Neil and this is my buddy, chikorita."

"Chiko!"

"I am Aylen. This is Happiny."

"Matilda and this is Lilipup."

The three pokemon had begun talking to each other while their trainers were busy talking.

"So a happiny as your starter?

"Yeah, it was my decision."

"Ok...But how are you going to catch any pokemon?"

"I don't know yet but I know Happiny and I can figure it out."

The three had arrived at the Pokemon center. Aylen looked at Matilda nervously and she gave her a reassuring look that it would be fine.

Neil ran in with chikorita in his hands and gave it to Nurse Joy.

"Nurse Joy, can you please look at my chikorita? It got burned very badly by a tepig but Aylen had apply a burn heal to her."

"Of course," she said with a smile.

Nurse Joy took the chikorita and turned towards the girls. She tilted her head and stared at them for a while.

"You two...look familiar..."

"Oh, we get that a lot," Matilda said, nervously.

"Yeah." Aylen said as she nodded so much that one would think her head was going to fall off.

Nurse Joy shrugged and walked off to get the chikorita check.

"That was too close. I thought Emily would find out that who we really are," Matilda sighed in relief.

Aylen nodded as she sat down. "So we helped Neil go to the Pokémon Center, we should continue with our journey."

"Yeah, true. I want to start catching pokémon!"

"Oh, where are you going," Neil asked as he walked over.

"Oh, well, we don't know yet."

"Well, I am planning to go to the next city, White Rose City. That is where the first gym for the Alotri league. I know the city is far away but that can be an advantage. We will go by some towns and forests. I was hoping to meet some wild pokemon and catch them. You know to build up my team to get ready for the Alotri league."

"Oh, we almost forgot about the Alotri league. That would be so cool. We have to join!" Matilda said, excitedly. "And think of all the pokemon I can catch."

"Is it alright if we tagged along too?" Aylen asked.

"Of course! The more the merrier!" Neil shouted.

Everyone looked at him and he blushed in embarrassment. Then Nurse Joy came out with a healthy chikorita.

"Here you go. Chikorita is now healthy."

"Thank you, Nurse Joy."

He took the chikorita and was about to leave but stopped when he saw a poster. The poster contained two pictures.

"Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny is missing? Although they look too young."

Nurse Joy turned her head to the poster and sighed sadly.

"Oh, that is my cousin and Officer Jenny's cousin. They were learning how to be a nurse and officer. They went missing last night."

"Missing?"

"Well, not missing. My cousin left a note stating that she want to be a pokemon trainer and I assume Officer Jenny's cousin also want to be one. After all,they were both really close and also disappeared together. We don't know the details but I do hope they come home soon."

"Well, what is wrong with that?" Aylen asked.

"Nothing. It is just that in their genetics, they are nurses and officers. I am afraid that they won't like being pokemon trainers. It is just not for them."

"But being a trainer is cool!" Neil said.

"I know. But it is not for everyone,"

"How do you know it is not for them?" Matilda said, trying to hide her anger in her voice.

"Because there were others before," Nurse Joy said in a quiet voice. "Things didn't end well."

The three needed to strain their ears to hear what she was saying.

"What do you mean?" Aylen asked.

Nurse Joy shook her head. "Forget what I said. It is not important. I have to go check on the other pokemon. I wish you luck on your journey."

She left. Aylen looked concerned. What did her cousin mean by that?

"Well, I do hope they find those two soon," Neil said as he put chikorita beside him. "Either way, so are you two coming?"

"Of course we are. I don't want to miss the fun," Matilda said. "Now let's go and catch some pokemon!"

Purestrongpoem: I know their personality is different from most of the other Nurse Joys and Officer Jenny. Their decision was already different so it would be alright if they have a different personality than their other relatives. After all, they are different. There will also be villains in the story, they are going to appear next chapter. Please review.
