Oh would you look at that a new chapter appears much faster than the last time! lol The writing bug has caught me and I have managed to fire through this. This is where we are going to start the drama. The drama will be a slow sort of drama to begin with, building up to the big moments and the ultimate sort of twist that I have only recently got together myself in my own head lol However I will let you read this and let me know what you think and what you think may be going to happen!
A couple of months had passed and Regina and Robin were more loved up than ever. They spent most of their time together and if they were not together they were either on the phone of texting one another. Right at this moment in time they were not together. It was Regina's sixteenth birthday and they were just finishing off a quiet family meal as Regina insisted she wanted no fuss for her birthday although she had wanted Robin to be there and David had said no. Well is actual words were no way. Regina of course had not taken this well and had decided to give David the silent treatment something Regina was very good at and could hold onto until David eventually broke down and gave in.
So even though it was her birthday meal she still wasn't talking to her father, talking to everyone else but whenever he tried to talk to her she would just nod her head or shrug. The meal ended and Regina helped Mary-Margaret clear the plates away.
"Are you going to keep up this silent treatment for long Regina?" Mary-Margaret asked with a sigh. She hated when Regina and David were at one another's throats. It made things around the house so awkward. Regina shrugged her shoulders and Mary-Margaret rolled her eyes. "Well you may as well go and take twister out if you are going to be in this mood."
"What? But it's my birthday why can't Josh take Twister out?" Regina whined.
"Because Twister is your dog. I seem to recall when Emma got her for you that you said you would always walk her and never moan about it." Mary-Margaret said.
"God my life is so unfair!" Regina huffed and she stomped out of the kitchen and into the hallway. Emma, Henry, Josh and David were clearing up the rest of the table when they saw Regina stomping out of the kitchen and across the hall to where Twisters dog lead was.
"Where you off to Regina?" Emma asked.
"Taking my dog out for a walk because apparently to some people I can't have a day off chores even when it is my birthday." Regina snapped and roughly pulled the dog lead off the hook. Emma, David, Josh and Henry each looked at one another not sure out to respond to Regina's slight outburst. It seemed Regina wasn't in the best of moods that day even if it was her birthday.
Mary-Margaret walked out of the kitchen having heard Regina's outburst and rolled her eyes. "Oh Regina stop with the dramatics please. You're not going to be out that long with Twister are you? Once round the block and back again."
"Yea well…" Regina started quickly thinking on her feet on what she could fire back to her mother. Her anger was rising. Everything she was annoyed about building up inside her. She needed to vent, to rant, to get it all out. "Maybe I won't come back!" She snapped and turned on her heel to head for the front door. She stopped as she opened the door realising she didn't have Twister with her. She closed her eyes hating that she wasn't making the dramatic exit that she was hoping for. She turned slightly and shouted, "Twister!"
Twister came running out of the living room and across the hallway towards Regina. Regina connected the lead to her collar and then stormed out of the house, slamming the door behind her. Everyone stood in silence for a moment not sure what to say about Regina's outburst. It was Henry that was the first to speak up. "So...That was…"
"She's in some mood…" Emma cut in and Henry nodded his head in agreement.
"Yea, her moods have increased recently." Mary-Margaret sighed. "I think it must be her age."
"All that because she is a teenager…wow!" Emma said.
"Was I that moody?" Henry asked.
"Boys tend not do outbursts like that." Emma shrugged. "Well shall we get this cleaned up and settle down before Regina comes back? Hopefully she cools down and comes back in a better mood."
Regina stormed down the road. She was fuming. Why did everyone have o be so annoying? Why did her parents feel the need to make her life so unfair? All she had wanted was for Robin to come to her birthday meal. It hadn't been much to ask really. From there her mood just seemed to spiral and as she walked a little further down the road she started to realise that maybe she had flown off the handle slightly and taken her mood out on everyone who really didn't deserve it.
She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. She was just so tired and annoyed recently. She hadn't been sleeping. She had been feeling weird and had been having bad headaches that wouldn't seem to shift even if she took painkillers. She just felt funny all the time and she couldn't explain it. She looked around her and decided to walk a bit longer to cool down and then go back. Face the embarrassment of saying sorry for causing a scene and try and enjoy the rest of her birthday night.
She could feel Twister pulling on her lead and she tried to pull back a little to stop Twister from moving so fast but as she did that Twister pulled on her lead again and the lead snapped causing Regina to fall back and Twister to run free away from Regina. Regina gasped and pushed herself up from the ground not caring about the scrapes on her hands. "Twister!" Regina shouted.
It all happened so fast. Twister ran out into the road. There was a screech of tyres. A howl and then there was silence. Regina held her breath for a moment as she stared out into the road where Twister now lay motionless. She shook her head and ran out into the road and over to where Twister was lying.
"Oh my god!" She said in a whisper as she knelt down on the ground. "Twister. Wake up." Regina said as she started to cry. The man who had been driving the car got out and crouched down beside Regina. "I…I'm…" Regina stuttered but she had no idea what to say.
"I'm sorry. I was too late to stop." The man said.
Regina shook her head. She had no idea what to say to the man. She didn't really blame him. She blamed herself and her stupid bad mood. "I…don't know what to do…" Regina whispered. She then felt around in her pocket and pulled out her phone. She looked through it until she got to the one person she needed at that moment in time, even if she wasn't supposed to be talking to him right at this moment in time. She pressed call and put the phone to her ear. "Please pick up. Please pick up."
"Hello…Regina?" David answered.
"Dad I need you." Regina said tearfully down the phone. "Something's happened…with Twister and I don't know what to do."
"Okay…Regina where are you?" David asked, a worried tone to his voice.
"Erm…" Regina said looking around her. "I'm on main street. Outside Mr Gold's shop." She said glancing back down at Twister. She hated how Twister looked. So lifeless.
"Okay Regina I will be right there okay? I won't be long."
"Please hurry Dad. I need you." Regina said.
David hung up the phone and Regina looked back at Twister she placed a hand on Twisters side and could feel that the dogs breathing was laboured. The man from the car was now stood up, talking on the phone and pacing back and forward. Regina could feel the tears quickly falling down her cheeks. She couldn't stop them. She wanted to help Twister but how could she? There was nothing she could do. "Just hold on Twister. We will get you help."
Regina moved her hands over Twister and suddenly she could feel something inside her, something intense. She had butterflies in her stomach and it rose through her and then she gasped as she saw light coming out of her hands. The light shone over Twister, flowing over her and then disappearing into her. Regina stayed motionless as the light worked its way over Twister and then in a moment the light was gone and Twister raised her head off of the concrete and looked at Regina. Regina gasped and fell back slightly in shock. "Wha…What the hell?" Regina whispered to herself.
"Your still a witch." The man spat.
Regina looked over at the man and raised her eyebrows at him. What was this man talking about? She was still a witch? She had never been a witch. This was the first time anything like this had ever happened to her. She had no idea what was going on. Twister stood up and walked over to Regina nudging her with her nose and Regina looked back at her dog. Her dog that just a moment ago was lying on the concrete road looking so lifeless.
"We all knew they couldn't stop you. We all knew there was no second chance for you!" The man snapped.
Regina looked back at the man in shock and slight fear as she could see how angry the man was getting and she had no idea why. She had never done anything to him before…she barely knew him. "I'm sorry sir…" Regina said as she pushed herself up off of the ground to stand up. "I don't know what you are talking about. I'm not a witch." Regina said.
The man scoffed and laughed a little. "Don't play that game with me witch. I just seen you use magic. How long have you been hiding it?! How long have you been hiding under the Charmings protection?!"
Regina shook her head not having a clue what this man was going on about. She didn't have magic. She had no idea what had just happened but surely it couldn't be magic…But then Emma had magic…maybe it runs in the family…She really needed some help, her father's help. The man in front of her was getting angrier by the minute and she wasn't sure what to do. "I haven't been hiding anything and I haven't been under the Charmings protection. I am their daughter and I am just as shocked as you are about what has just happened."
"Don't give me that crap! I know who you are!" The man shouted and took a step towards Regina.
Regina gasped and stepped backwards bumping into the man's car behind her. Twister stood in front of Regina and growled at the man. Regina closed her eyes not sure what was going to happened next.
"Hey!" Came a shout from behind them. Regina opened her eyes and glanced behind her to see David quickly walking over to them. She sighed in relief. "What the hell are you doing?" David shouted as he approached them not liking how close the man was getting to Regina.
"How long have you been hiding that witch? How long have you known she had magic?!" The man asked angrily pointing at Regina with a stabbing finger.
"Regina doesn't have magic." David replied firmly.
"Oh but she does Prince Charming. I just witnessed her using it to save that damn dog." The man snapped back.
"Well surely that is a good way to use magic if she has it." David shot back.
"Her…" The man said stabbing his finger towards Regina. "Having magic is not a good thing. We both know who she is…" The man stepped closer to Charming and quietly said into his ear, "And we both know what she could do with her magic or have you forgotten the days of the Evil Queen? Have you gone soft for her now you 'raised' her?"
Regina looked between the man and David in confusion not being able to hear what the man had just whispered into David's ear. David stepped away from the man. "I have forgotten nothing. Now I advise that you leave now and stay away from my daughter." David said firmly as he placed a hand on Regina's shoulder.
"Mark my words people will find out about this Charming." The man snarled as he walked over to his car.
David shook his head slightly and guided Regina over towards the side of the road where his truck was parked, Twister following closely behind them. David let Twister into the back of the truck and then opened the door for Regina. "Get in." He said. Regina nodded her head and she climbed into the truck and David closed the door behind her. He walked around the truck and then got in the driver's side. He looked over at Regina who was staring out in front of her looking shocked and a little scared. He reached over and placed a hand on her knee making her jump slightly but she relaxed as she looked over at David. "What happened Regina?" David asked.
"I…I don't know…it all happened to fast. I was walking Twister, She kept on pulling on the lead…she must have seen something she wanted so I kept trying to pull her back and slow her down…like you told me to do…" Regina paused and David nodded his head to tell her to continue. "I must have pulled to hard and the lead snapped. Before I knew it she had run out into the road and the car had hit her. I rushed out and she looked so lifeless she wasn't moving and her breathing didn't feel right. I had no idea what to do. Then that man got out the car and he seemed really nice at first. He apologised and everything." Regina said.
"Okay…So what happened after that?" David asked.
"Erm …I phoned you…" Regina said slowly trying to remember everything that happened. "I didn't know what to do and I was scared and you were the only person I could think of and the only person that I wanted." Regina said. "I'm sorry about earlier…"
"It's okay. I'm sorry too." David said. Regina gave David a small smile and he held his arms out to her. She fell into them and held onto him tightly as he wrapped his arms around her. She started to cry a little and David rubbed her back soothingly just like he did when she was a child. "So after you phoned me Regina what happened?"
"Erm…I don't know…all I could think about was how I wanted to help Twister. I wanted to make her feel better but I didn't know how. Then I reached out and placed my hands on her and I started to feel weird…I can't really explain it but it was an intense feeling. Then this light shone out of my hands and then Twister was stood up looking like nothing had happened. It was then that the man started saying things to me. He called me a witch and asked me how long I had been hiding my magic an how long I had been hiding under your protection. I didn't understand what he was talking about dad. I have never used magic before. I had no idea I had magic." Regina finished and looked up at David. "You believe me don't you?" Regina asked.
"Of course I do princess." David said and pressed his lips to the top of her head. "Come on let's get home. We can have some hot chocolate, and sort everything out."
David opened the door and Twister ran into the house and through to the living room, lying down in front of the fire. Mary-Margaret, Emma, Josh and Henry looked on in confusion not expecting to see Twister looking so well after Regina's phone call. Regina and David both walked into the living room, Regina looking very pale and still in shock from what had happened.
Mary-Margaret frowned with worry and stood up from the sofa and walked over to Regina cupping her face gently in her hands. "Regina are you okay? What happened?" Mary-Margaret asked quickly.
"I-I…" Regina started but trailed off.
"Regina why don't you go upstairs and lie down. I will fill everyone in on what has happened and then I will bring you up some hot chocolate okay?" David cut in seeing Regina was having a hard time dealing with everything that had just happened. Regina merely just nodded her head and pulled out of Mary-Margaret's grasp. She turned on her heel and slowly walked out of the room and upstairs. Twister seeing Regina leave the room quickly got up from where she was lying and followed her.
"David what the hell has happened? Regina looks…" Mary-Margaret said worry in her voice.
"Awful." Emma finished.
"Come sit down and I will tell you." David sighed. He walked over to the sofa and sat down, Mary-Margaret following him and sitting down beside him. "When Regina was out Twister managed to get off the lead. She ran out into the road and was hit by a car."
"Hit by a car? But she looks fine." Henry said with a frown.
"Yea well she wasn't fine for a bit…that's why Regina phoned me. She had no idea what to do and she was scared. Anyway before I got there Regina did something…She used magic." David explained.
"She used magic? But…Regina doesn't have magic." Emma said in confusion.
"So we thought but it appears Regina's magic is manifesting. Perhaps the turn of her sixteenth birthday has something to do with it I'm not sure but Regina has magic. She said light shone out of her hands, she felt funny, an intense feeling and then before she knew it Twister was standing up as if nothing happened. The only thing was the man that knocked Twister down seen Regina using magic and well he…He looked angry. He called her a witch asked how long she had been hiding her magic and hiding behind us and using us for protection. When I got there he looked pretty angry and well he was standing too close to her for my liking. I'm not sure what he would have done if I hadn't have turned up." David said. He could feel the anger rise up in him as he thought about how that man acted towards Regina.
"So he was angry Regina had magic?" Emma asked.
David nodded his head. "He said to me that Regina having magic was not a good thing and well he brought up her days as the evil queen…goaded me slightly asking whether I had forgotten those days because I have now 'raised' her."
Mary-Margaret sighed. "Do you think he will tell anyone about what he saw?"
David shrugged his shoulders. "He said he would but I don't know if he actually will."
"So what should we do?" Henry asked.
"We should probably go and talk to Gold. See if he can tell us why Regina suddenly has magic now and see if he can advise how to deal with it." David suggested. "But I think that can wait until tomorrow. Regina has had a pretty rough night and after all it is her birthday…a birthday that I think may be ruined."
Mary-Margaret sighed at that. She had felt so angry at Regina when she had stormed out and now she was just very worried about her. "Your right. Talking to Gold can wait until tomorrow. I'm going to go upstairs and convince Regina to come back down here…we can watch her favourite movie or something…whatever she wants to do…David you go and make the hot chocolate you promised her and Emma and Henry why don't you get some snacks and maybe organise her birthday cake. We haven't done that yet and Josh you find Regina's favourite movie."
Everyone nodded their heads and they all stood up and went to go and do the jobs they had been assigned. Mary-Margaret quickly climbed the stairs and walked down the hallway towards Regina's bedroom. As she got closer she could hear that Regina was crying and it broke her heart. She peered in through the small opening of the bedroom door and saw Regina lying on her bed, Twister had her head resting on the bed beside Regina and Regina was stroking the top of Twisters head as she cried.
Mary-Margaret knocked on the door and pushed it open. Regina looked up to see who was coming in not bothering to wipe her tear stained face. "How are you sweetie?" Mary-Margaret asked as she walked over to Regina's bed. Regina shrugged her shoulders and stared at Twister. Mary-Margaret walked around twister and sat at the top of Regina's bed where her head was. Regina moved a little and looked up at Mary-Margaret who patted her lap indicating to Regina to put her head on her lap. Regina moved up a little and did just that. Mary-Margaret moved her fingers to Regina's hair and began to stroke her hair knowing it was something that calmed Regina down, it always did when she was little. "Talk to me Regina. Tell me how you feel. Don't keep it all bottled up."
"I-I feel…" Regina started, but stopped as a sob escaped her. "Confused, shocked and scared, so scared…" Regina said whispering the end part. "I don't know what to do, I don't know how to control it all. I have felt weird for a few weeks now but I had no idea what it was."
"You have been feeling weird? Why didn't you say something?" Mary-Margaret asked.
"I don't know. I thought it was nothing. I just had a headache every so often and felt…I don't know how to explain it…just weird…but tonight I felt it, but ten times what I have felt over the past couple of weeks. It was just so intense and it was like it ran through my whole body and I couldn't control it, I couldn't stop it. I really didn't know I had magic mom. Honestly I didn't." Regina said as she quickly sat up, looking into Mary-Margaret's eyes with a fearful look.
"Oh honey…" Mary-Margaret said as she cupped Regina's cheeks in her hands. "I know you didn't know. I believe you. Don't for one minute think that we don't believe you okay?" Regina nodded her head slightly and Mary-Margaret pulled her over a little and wrapped her arms around Regina while Regina rest against her.
"I was so scared mom. First I thought I lost Twister and then when I used magic and Twister was okay again the man that knocked her down started getting angry with me and I don't understand why. I didn't hurt him or anything. I didn't do anything bad, did I mom?" Regina said looking up at Mary-Margaret.
"No you didn't do anything bad Regina." Mary-Margaret replied. "The man was maybe just a little shocked about it all and didn't handle it very well but we will sort it all out okay? Tomorrow we will talk to Mr Gold and see what is going on. But I don't want you to worry okay?"
"Okay." Regina sighed slightly.
"Now why don't you come back down stairs and we can finish celebrating your birthday." Mary-Margaret suggested.
"I don't know if I feel like it mom…" Regina said quietly.
"Come on…we can watch your favourite movie. Your dad is making some hot chocolate and Emma and Henry are preparing some snacks." Mary-Margaret said. "Don't let this ruin your birthday honey. It's not every day you turn sixteen. And tell you what I will talk to your dad and see if he will let you invite Robin round for dinner tomorrow night…"
"Really?" Regina asked as she sat up a little to look at Mary-Margaret who nodded her head. "Thank you mom." Regina said as she wrapped her arms around Mary-Margaret.
Mary-Margaret smiled and hugged Regina tightly before pulling away and standing up from the bed. She held out her hand to Regina. "Come on. We have a movie to watch."
"Okay…I suppose a movie and snacks wouldn't hurt." Regina sighed as she placed her hand into Mary-Margaret's and let her pull her up from the bed.
"Of course it won't." Mary-Margaret replied. She then pulled her hand away from Regina's and moved her hands up to Regina's face using her thumbs to gently wipe the stray tears away. "Now no more crying. It's your birthday."
Regina gave Mary-Margaret a smile and they both walked out of the room, Twister close behind them and walked down stairs and into the living room where everyone was waiting for them. The lights were dimmed and on the table a simple chocolate cake sat with a candle in it. Regina looked over at Mary-Margaret and David giving them a questioning look.
"We know you said you didn't want a birthday cake but…" David started.
"Well it's not right to not have a birthday cake for your birthday so here we are." Mary-Margaret finished. "Now come on…make a wish."
Regina walked over to the cake and knelt down in front of it. She looked down at the candle and wondered what she could wish for. She had the best family, even if she did sometimes get annoyed with them. There wasn't much she wanted to wish for…well apart from her problem that was soon to develop. Her magic. So she closed her eyes. Took a deep breath in and blew out the candle.
"What'd you wish for?" Josh asked as the lights were turned back on and Mary-Margaret went about cutting a piece of cake for everyone.
"I can't tell you, it won't come true then." Regina said.
Josh rolled his eyes a little. "Like it would come true anyway. that stuff isn't real."
Everyone sat down and David patted the bit of the sofa in-between himself and Mary-Margaret for Regina. Regina gave him a smile and she sat down beside them and Mary-Margaret handed her a piece of cake on a small plate. They all sat back and pressed play to start watching Regina's favourite movie 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' to finish off the celebration for Regina's birthday all not realising that what had happened tonight was just the calm before the storm.
