I am so sorry that I have taken so long to get this chapter up to you! I know excuses excuses but I have been incredibly busy recently. I have been on holiday, down to England to see family friends and then they came up to Scotland to celebrate my birthday and have been doing things practically every day so have had zero time to write anything. But I have managed to catch up slightly and so here we have a chapter. I am going to try and sort out a regular updating system so that I can get a chapter up every week so I will try figure that out! Anyway I will stop with the chat and let you read. Let me know what you think! :-)
A couple of weeks had passed and Regina had been sneaking out to have her 'magic lessons' with Mr Gold. Gold had introduced her to three women, who Regina wasn't quite sure of at first. There was one woman that Regina thought was quite weird looking with her half white and half black hair and the woman always wore a big white fur coat. She went by the name of Cruella and Regina got the feeling that she was just as wary of her and she was of the woman. Then there was a woman with dark skin and long brown flowing hair. She always wore green and was considerably nicer than Cruella. This woman went by the name of Ursula. The third woman seemed to be the one who spent the most time with Regina and the one who always seemed to be keeping an eye on her. The woman was tall and slim and had wavy blonde hair, her lips were always painted in a bright red and she was always dressed smartly. This woman went by the name of Maleficent.
All three women had magic and Gold insisted that they would be able to help Regina learn magic as well as himself teaching her. So the five of them were out in a secluded part of the forest an Maleficent and Gold were trying to teach her how to throw a fire ball. Regina thought it a ridiculous lesson. She didn't particularly want to learn how to throw fire, especially not in the middle of a forest but she daren't argue with the adults around her.
"Again!" Gold demanded and Regina huffed in frustration. She was growing tired of this. They had been out here for hours and she had only managed to conjure up a ball of fire three times and had thrown it once, in the opposite direction of where she had been aiming.
"Do I have to?" Regina whined a little. "We have been doing this for hours."
"Again!" Gold repeated not giving Regina the satisfaction of an argument. Clearly some things don't change as Gold quite clearly remembered Regina's whining and frustration the first time he taught her magic.
Regina huffed, a scowl appearing on her face. She held her hand out and tried with all her might to conjure up a fire ball. Sparks flew around on her hand but no fire appeared and she huffed again and dropped her hands down to her leg with a slap. "I think I have had enough with lessons today."
"You are done with your lessons when I say you are done." Gold said firmly.
"I am too tired to continue." Regina threw back.
"Or she just can't do it." Cruella smirked. "Clearly the lesson is too hard for her Rumple. Should have continued with the easy stuff, you know the magic children can master."
Regina turned to Cruella with a glare on her face. She really couldn't stand that woman. "The lesson isn't too hard for me!"
"Prove it." Cruella provoked.
Maleficent walked up behind Regina and she placed her hands on her shoulders. Regina jumped a little but didn't move away. "Relax dear." Maleficent whispered into Regina's ear. "You will not be able to call your magic forth when you are all tense. Use your emotions."
Regina done as Maleficent said and she took a deep breath and relaxed herself. She then held out her hand, closed her eyes and tried with everything she could to call forth her magic and conjure a fire ball. She could feel the sparks in her hands and then all of a sudden she felt a great warmth. She opened her eyes and smiled triumphantly as she saw the fire in her hand. "I did it!" Regina said glancing to Maleficent.
"Well done dear. Now try throw it."
Regina kept herself as relaxed as she could and then took a deep breath before throwing the fire. The fire flew from her hand heading towards Ursula and Cruella. "Oops." Regina winced as she realised where she had thrown the fire ball.
Cruella was quick to intercept the fire and used her magic to push the magic energy back towards Regina and Maleficent catching them a little off guard. The magic hit them and threw them back, Maleficent landing with a thump on the ground and Regina hitting her head on the tree behind her. "Cruella." Maleficent growled as she pushed herself up from the ground, brushing herself off.
"What? So it's okay for me to be burned alive is it?" Cruella said.
Maleficent rolled her eyes and turned to Regina who was still sitting on the ground but was now rubbing her head. "Regina dear are you okay?" She asked.
Regina nodded her head. "I think so…My head hurts a bit…"
Maleficent was about to heal Regina when Rumple grabbed her hand and shook his head. "Don't heal her. She needs to learn from her mistakes." Maleficent nodded her head.
Regina frowned at this but sighed and pushed herself up using the tree as support. "Are we done now?" She asked. All she wanted to do was go back home, well to Emma's as she was still staying with her.
"Yes you may go now." Gold sighed.
As soon as Regina got into the loft she dumped her bag and threw herself onto the sofa. Within five minutes she had fallen to sleep and was plagued by one of the weirdest dreams she had ever had.
She was stood in a cold damp castle, a light glow from the candles surrounding her. Looking around her she had no idea where she was but then she got a feeling that this place was familiar to her. She jumped as she heard a door slam open and she turned to see a woman dragging in a younger version of herself. She could only guess she was around five years old.
Regina frowned and studied the woman. A woman who she didn't know but once again she got a feeling that the woman was familiar to her. The woman had sharp facial features and her dark brown hair was scarped back into a bun. She wore a big dark red dress that you would expect to see on a woman from old times. The woman threw little Regina to the floor and little Regina cried out as her knees and hands hit the hard stone floor.
"You ungrateful little brat." The woman scolded.
"I'm sorry mama." little Regina cried and Regina gasped as she watched it all play out. She looked up to the frowning woman. This little version of herself called this woman mama but she looked nothing like her mother, well not the mother she knew.
"You will learn your lesson child." The woman said as she lifted her hand up and let it fall slapping the child on the cheek. Little Regina cried out again and Regina gasped and a hand flew to her mouth.
Everything seemed to go fuzzy and then as things straightened up Regina watched as another scene began to unfold. She now saw an older version of herself, a much older version of herself, even older than she was now. She could tell it was her, she couldn't explain why. She watched as this older version of herself, dressed in figure hugging black leather trousers and a velvet red coat. Her hair was pulled up into an up do and she looked completely different from what she would expect. The older version of herself paced up and down a line of peasants with a sneer on her face.
"Tell me where Snow White is hiding and none of you will be harmed." She said in a dangerously quiet voice.
"I-I'm sorry y-your majesty. We don't know w-where Snow White is h-hiding." A peasant stuttered out.
Regina watched as the older version of herself stopped in front of the peasant with an evil look on her face. "Wrong answer." She said and as quick as a flash her hand darted out and into the peasants chest. Regina gasped as she watched the older version of herself pull the heart out of the peasant and crush it. Tears began to flow down her face as the peasant fell to the floor and the older version of herself let the dust of the heart fall to the floor. "Does anyone else want to answer my question?"
Everything began to go fuzzy again and Regina could feel her breathing began to quicken as she began to panic about what she had just seen.
Regina gasped as she sat bolt upright, a hand over her heart and trying to steady her breathing. She ran her fingers through her hair as she thought about what she had just dreamt about. It confused and scared her what she had seen. Pulling out hearts…was that possible? Was that some kind of magic Gold was to teach her? If he wanted to teach her that she would refuse. She had to. There was no way she would turn into the woman she had seen in her dream. She couldn't so that to people. She wouldn't turn out like that.
Later on that night Emma and Regina were sat round the table. Henry was out with some friends so it was just the two of them at the loft. Emma had brought in dinner from grannies as she had been working a little later at the station. Regina had been quiet the whole night which was really unusual.
"So…I seen dad today, at the station. He was asking for you, both he and mom are missing you." Emma said.
Regina nodded her head and stared down at her food. "I kinda miss them too, but I'm not sure if I am ready to go back yet."
"Well maybe try having dinner with them or something eh? I think they would like that." Emma said.
"Yea, maybe…" Regina sighed.
Emma frowned a little. "Are you okay Regina? You have been quiet all night."
"Y-yea I'm fine. Just a little tired I guess." Regina said shrugging her shoulders.
Emma just nodded her head but she knew there was something more to what was wrong with Regina but she knew better than to push Regina. She watched as Regina pushed around the food on her plate having only taken a couple of bites. She ate the last couple of bites of her food and then stood up to go and clear the dishes. "You finished with yours?" Emma asked. Regina pushed her plate away and nodded her head. "You sure your okay? You have barely eaten anything."
"Yea I'm fine. Just not hungry I guess." Regina replied.
"Okay…" Emma said as she picked up Regina's plate. "You want it kept for later?"
"Sure if you want." Regina said shrugging her shoulders. "I think I'm going to go to bed." She said as she stood up from the table and made her way to the stairs. She quickly climbed up them.
Emma watched her for a moment and then her gaze turned to the front door as it opened and Henry walked into the loft. "Hey Ma. Did you get me dinner?" He asked as soon as he spotted the containers from the diner.
"Yea, in the oven." Emma said. Henry nodded and made his way over to the oven and took out his food. He sat down at the counter and started to tuck in as Emma started on the dishes. "Good night?" Emma asked.
"Yea it was alright." Henry shrugged. He then glanced around him and then looked back at Emma. "Where's Regina?"
"She went up to bed."
"Already? Bit early for bed is it not…" Henry said.
"I don't know. She said she was tired and she did seem a little off. She was really quiet and she barely ate anything." Emma said.
"You know I have noticed she has been acting weird lately. Have you noticed she has sort of sneaked out for hours a day and then when you ask her what she has been up to she says nothing."
"Yea but isn't that a normal teenage thing?" Emma asked.
"I dunno." Henry shrugged. "I just think she has been acting weird and she still hasn't spoken to Grandma and Gramps has she. She is withdrawing herself from them and I would say us too."
Emma thought about what Henry had just said and could see some sort of truth in it. Regina had been acting strangely and withdrawing herself from everyone. She decided from now on she was going to keep a much closer eye on Regina.
Regina found herself out in a field beside a tree with a young handsome man. The man had his arms around her and she had her arms around him. She could feel so much love for him as she gazed up into his eyes. They were talking to one another but she had no idea what they were talking about, not really. She then felt him lean forward and his lips found hers. She hesitated for a moment, but soon responded to the kiss and her arms wound a little tighter round him.
As she pulled away from the kiss she looked around and saw she was no longer in the field but in a barn, it was night time and she was with the man again. The man she knew as Daniel. They planned to run away, to get away from a life she didn't want. As they prepared to leave the woman from her dream earlier appeared and they both halted.
"Mother I…" Regina found herself saying but was cut off by the woman.
"Don't! You sneak out my house in the dead of night and think I won't notice. How dare you!" The woman sneered.
"Your impossible to talk to. Stop with the magic and listen to me." Regina said. "I want to be with Daniel."
Her mother scoffed and rolled her eyes. "You don't know what you want but I do. I didn't make the sacrifices that I did in life to get you to the cusps of greatness so that you could end up the wife of a stable boy."
"But it's my life."
Her mother laughed. "You foolish girl." And then her face straightened into a glare. "It's mine. after what I had to do, deals I had to make to get us out of poverty, to get us this life and you just want to toss it away."
"Stay strong Regina." Daniel murmured into her ear.
Regina turned to him slightly. She wanted to stay strong. She really did. "Your magic can't keep us apart." Regina said as she looked back at her mother. "I love him."
"I love her." Daniel said.
"And I love her too."
"If you love me you wouldn't try to keep us apart." Regina said desperately.
"And if you loved me then you wouldn't try to run away." Her mother said.
"I'm sorry but this is my happiness. We're going." Regina said firmly.
"No." Her mother said holding her hand up, magic shining on it. "You're not."
"So what's your plan?" Regina asked. "You're going to keep us here forever? Because that's what you'll have to do."
They all stood there for a moment staring at one another. Her mother glanced from Regina and then to Daniel and Regina wasn't sure what her mother was thinking. "So this is your decision?" She asked. "This will make you happy?"
"It already has." Regina replied.
"Then who am I to stop you?" Her mother said quietly.
Regina moved out of Daniels arms and over to her mother. She wrapped her arms around her mother in a hug that she could feel was a rare thing."Thank you mother." Regina said in a whisper.
Her mother then looked over to Daniel. "Daniel…" She said as she moved around Regina and over towards the man. "If you want to have a life together, a family, then there is one important lesson I can import on you. It's what it means to be a parent. You always have to do what's best for your children."
"Thank you." Daniel replied. Her mother gave him a smile and she couldn't help but smile as she watched the man she loved and her mother. "I understand because that is what you're doing now."
Her mother's smile faded "Yes." She said. "Yes…" and then her hand flew out and into Daniel's chest.
"Mother!" Regina cried out as she watched her mother ripping out Daniel's heart from his chest. Daniel fell to the ground. "Nooo!" Regina shouted as she ran over to Daniel and cradled him in her arms."No!" Her mother crushed Daniel's heart in her hand and let the dust fall to the ground. She watched as Regina cradled Daniel in her arms but she felt nothing. She was doing the best for her daughter. That was all she was thinking. "Mother why have you done this?" Regina asked with tears flowing down her face.
"Because this is your happy ending." Her mother replied.
"What?" Regina shouted. She then looked back at Daniel and she kissed him over and over again hoping he would wake up, believing in true loves kiss that wasn't working.
"You have to trust me Regina. I know best." Her mother said."Love is weakness Regina."
Emma woke up with a start as she heard shouting coming from upstairs. She pushed herself up out of bed and headed out of her room and met Henry at the bottom of the stairs. They both gave one another a confused look and then looked up the stairs where the shouting continued. Both walked up the stairs to where Regina was sleeping and as they entered the room Regina shouted out…
"No Daniel!"
"Did she just say Daniel?" Henry asked as he looked over to Emma.
Emma nodded her head. "I am sure that is what she said."
"Could it be the same Daniel?" Henry asked.
"What other Daniel could it be?" Emma said and Henry shrugged his shoulders. "You go downstairs and make some hot coco. I will wake her up." Emma said Henry nodded his head and turned on his heel leaving the room. Emma then made her way over to the bed and sat down on the edge of it.
Regina moved about frantically, tears were flowing down her face. "Daniel…"
Emma took a deep breath and placed a hand on Regina's shoulder gently shaking her. "Regina…Regina…wake up its Emma." Emma shook her a couple more times and with a gasp Regina woke up, shooting up in the bed, gasping and crying as her dream played over and over again in her mind. "Regina your okay."
"I…she…she killed him…the woman…my mother…" Regina stuttered out in-between gasps and cries and soon found herself sobbing in Emma's arms.
