Here is the last chapter for this story. This story was really hard to end, I really struggled with writing the ending so I do hope I did the story some justice. This has been one of the favorite stories to write, especially writing little Regina. Thank you all for your follows, favorites and your lovely reviews you have all kept me going with this story. I have decided, if people would like, to perhaps start taking prompts from people and write some one shots in between writing stories so if anyone has a prompt they would like me to write feel free to ask. I would probably be best at writing Outlaw queen, Evil Charming, Golden Queen (As in father/daughter), maybe a wee bit of Henry and Regina mother and son moments and am happy to give swan queen a go if anyone wants. Anyway I will let you read the last part and thank you again my lovely readers!
Eight years later...
Regina stood in her childhood bedroom, staring into the mirror. She and Robin had been living together for four years now and a year ago he had asked her to marry him (of course having asked David if he could beforehand). It had taken a year of planning to finally get to this day and Regina could feel the nerves and excitement rising up in her. She ran her hands over her dress. It was nothing over the top. It was a simple sleeveless white dress that hugged her figure and flowed down to the floor and had a small glitter detailing at her hip. She felt perfect in it and she smiled at her reflection. Her hair had been styled in an up-do with diamond clips and a few curls hanging down around her face, her makeup simple and natural and all she wanted.
This was the day she had dreamed of for so long. The day where she felt like a perfect princess and was about to marry the man she loved. She let out a content sigh and moved forward to slip on her cream high heels.
"Regina are you…" David started as he walked into the room but stopped in his steps and his talking as his eyes landed on Regina.
Regina spun round, a soft smile on her face as she looked at the man she still called her father. "How do I look?" Regina asked holding out her arms.
"Oh Regina…" David sighed out softly as he stepped towards her. His hands found hers and he held onto them tightly. "You look beautiful."
"You think?" She asked her smile growing.
"The fairest in the land." He replied and she let out a soft giggle.
"I thought that was mom?" She said arching an eyebrow and looking every bit the Queen she once was many years ago.
"Well you can be too." He shrugged and Regina huffed out a laugh. "Are you ready?" David asked his thumbing rubbing her hand comfortingly.
Regina bit her lip and thought about that question. Was she ready? Physically, yes. She was dressed and her hair and makeup were done. There was nothing stopping her from going down stairs with her father and heading out towards the garden where they were holding her wedding. It had been an easy decision for her on where she wanted her wedding to be held and Robin was happy as long as she was on any of the wedding details. The massive garden of the mansion had a huge gazebo set up, bunting, tables set up in a traditional wedding reception way. In another part there were chairs set up on the lawn, an arch decorated with Regina's favourite flowers at the top where she and Robin would soon be married by Maleficent who they had all rescued from the darkness she had consumed for Regina.
"Regina…" David said breaking through into Regina's thoughts.
Regina shook her head and took a deep breath. "Yes I'm ready. Now more than ever."
"Good." David smiled and he leaned over and placed a kiss to her cheek. "Shall we?" He said turning slightly and holding out his arm for her. She gave a nod and they walked out of her bedroom and down the hall to the stairs. "You wait here and let me announce you. Your mother, Emma, Josh and Henry are down there and I know your mother would love this." David said turning to Regina.
Regina rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless and she watched as David walked down the stairs. He stopped at the bottom. "Here's comes the bride." He said making Mary-Margaret, Emma, Josh and Henry turn round. He motioned for Regina to come down the stairs.
She took another breath and held onto the banister as she began to walk down the stairs using her other hand to hold up her dress a bit so that she didn't stand on it. She heard her mother gasp along with Emma and smiled as she saw her family standing waiting on her.
"Oh Regina look at you." Mary-Margaret said as she started to well up. "You look beautiful." She said as she walked over to Regina and wrapped her arms around her.
"Thank you mom." Regina said softly as she wrapped her arms around her. Mary-Margaret pulled away and wiped at her face trying to not ruin her makeup.
"That dress really suits you Regina." Emma said.
"Thanks, yours isn't too bad either." Regina smirked. Emma was dressed in a long green figure hugging dress. A sight that wasn't usual as Emma seemed to prefer trousers to dresses.
Emma rolled her eyes. "Yea just keep up with that smirk and we'll see where you get." Regina laughed.
"You look nice Regina." a now sixteen year old Josh said, stuffing his hands into his suit pockets and looking down as he shuffled his feet.
"Hey check you being nice to me." Regina said gently shoving him.
"Well it only happens on special occasions so take advantage while you can." Josh smirked.
"Don't worry I will." Regina replied. Regina then turned to Henry. Things were still a little awkward when it came to herself and Henry. There were moments where she felt this motherly love towards him but they had tried to find some balance for their relationship and found it didn't matter what they were to one another they were family and loved each other and that was all that mattered. "Is everyone here?"
Henry nodded. "Josh and I have done our jobs as ushers and shown them all to their seats don't worry." Henry smiled.
"Thank you." Regina replied.
"Mommy!" Came a squeaky screech from behind them and a buddle of brunette hair and energy came running towards Regina and jumping up into her arms.
"Hello my darling." Regina said softly as she caught her young daughter in her arms and moved her up balancing her on her hip.
Three years ago her daughter, Grace Amelia Locksley had come into the world. It had been an unexpected pregnancy, but the best surprise she and Robin could ask for. Their little girl had brightened up their world just that little bit more and had helped to make their family just that little bit more complete.
"Daddy out there." Grace said as she pointed. "Waitin' on you."
"Is he really? And why is he waiting on mommy?" Regina asked with a smile that she couldn't seem to wipe from her face. She was sure her cheeks were going to be aching by the end of the day with all her smiling.
"Cause you gonna marry." Grace replied excitedly jumping in Regina's arms and making Regina and the others laugh.
"That's right my little princess." Regina said leaning over and rubbing her nose against Grace's making her giggle. Regina then crouched down and placed Grace on the floor. She fixed her green dress, colour matching Emma as she had made Emma her bridesmaid and Grace her flower girl. She then fixed Grace's hair and in true motherly fashion licked her thumb and leaned over to wipe at a mark on her daughters face. Clearly her daughter had been up to some mischief while she was waiting on her mother getting ready.
"Ew mommy, no!" Grace whined shaking her head from side to side.
Regina laughed a little but caught Grace's chin in her hand and gently held her still while she wiped the mark from her face. "Grace sweetheart we don't want you to have a mark on your face do we? Not for mommy and daddy's wedding. You need to look pretty for the pictures." Regina said and stood once she was satisfied with Grace's appearance. Her daughter was the spitting image of her, apart from the big green eyes that were pure Robin.
"Grace why don't we head to the door and get ready? I think we are going to start soon." Emma said holding out her hand.
"Okay." Grace said about to run over to Emma but stopped and turned running back to Regina. "Wait mommy need to give you somethin'"
"What?" Regina asked she crouched down to Grace's height.
Grace leaned up and placed a kiss to Regina's cheek. "Daddy say to give you kiss and say you the prettiest of all cause you are mommy." Grace said sweetly.
Regina smiled. "Thank you my darling."
Grace then ran over to Emma and she took Emma's hand as she, Josh and Henry along with Emma all walked towards the garden to get ready for the wedding starting. She and Emma waited by the door while Josh and Henry went to take their seats.
Mary-Margaret turned to Regina once more and walked over to her. "You have everything, your flowers, your something borrowed and something blue…" Regina nodded her head. "So here's your something new…" Mary-Margaret said as she brought out a long red velvet box.
"What is this?" Regina asked frowning as she took the box from Mary-Margaret.
"Your father and I wanted to get you your something new for your wedding." She said.
Regina opened the box and gasped as she saw a white gold heart locket lying in the box on the red velvet cushion. "Oh…you didn't have to get me anything…this is beautiful." Regina said as she took the necklace out of the box.
"We wanted to. Open it up." David urged as he took the box from Regina.
Regina did as he said and gasped again. The locket contained a family picture. Her mother and father sat down in the middle with Emma and Regina behind them, Regina holding Grace on her hip. Robin was beside Regina and Henry beside Emma with Josh stood beside Henry. "I love it. Thank you so much." Regina said and wrapped her arms around both David and Mary-Margaret. She then pulled away and handed the necklace to David so that he could place it on her.
"Alright." Mary-Margaret said swallowing back the new tears that had formed. "I'll go and get my seat. You look beautiful Regina." She said again before turning on her heel and walking out to the garden and too her seat.
"Now are we ready to go and get you married?" David asked holding out his arm to her.
Regina nodded her head smiling at David. "I'm ready."
So they walked towards the patio doors where Emma and Grace were stood. David told Emma they were ready and Emma turned signalling to the band and maleficent that they were ready to start the wedding. "Ladies and Gentleman please stand for the bride." maleficent said and the crowd of people stood from their seats.
Robin stood up from his chair, his best friend Little John beside him and he took a deep breath as the music started. He turned slightly to see Emma and Grace walking down the aisle and he smiled as he saw his little girl looking very proud of herself for doing what they had practiced so much without falling. He then turned back round gearing himself up for seeing Regina. He had waited for this day for too long. He had wanted to marry her for so long and finally they day had arrived.
Little John nudged Robin and motioned with his head. "You need to look mate. She is a vision." He said.
Robin turned round straight away and his eyes landed on the glowing angel that was Regina. He had dreamed about what she would look like on this day but his dreams had been nothing close to the real thing. She looked like and was the most beautiful woman there was there. He caught her eyes and he smiled, a smile which she returned but then dipped her head shyly and he could see a blush rising up on her cheeks just making her even more beautiful.
Finally the walk down the aisle had ended and David handed Regina over to Robin, he gave her a kiss on the cheek and turned to Robin. "Look after her." It was a friendly warning but a warning nonetheless and it made Regina roll her eyes but huff out a laugh.
"You have my word." Robin said seriously and it only made Regina smile even more. His eyes then turned to Regina and he smiled at her. "Hello my love."
"Hello…" She said softly. "You scrub up well." She said causing him to laugh.
"And you are glowing. You look wonderful." He replied and she dipped her head feeling the blush rise to her cheeks again.
"Ladies and gentlemen, family and friends, we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the joining of Regina Mills-Charming and Robin Locksley in marriage. With love and commitment they have decided to live their lives together as husband and wife." Maleficent started. "True marriage begins well before the wedding day and the efforts of marriage continue well beyond the ceremony's end. It lives on the love you give each other and never grows old. Today you declare your commitment to each other before your family and friends. Your yesterdays were the path to this moment, and your journey to a future of togetherness becomes a little clearer with each new day."
"And now it's time for the vows…" Maleficent says. "Do you Regina, take Robin to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do you part?"
"I do…" Regina said softy, staring into Robin's eyes and smiling.
"And do you Robin take Regina to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do you part?" Maleficent asked Robin.
"I do." Robin said firmly not taking his eyes from Regina, taking her hand in his and rubbing his thumb up and down the back of her hand.
Maleficent smiled as she watched the bride and groom and then addressed everyone else. "Who has the rings?" Rose stepped forward, rings settled on a green velvet pillow. Although a little untraditional Regina insisted her best friend be the one to give them the rings. "Regina…"
Regina stepped forward a little and picked up the plain gold wedding band Robin had picked out. She took his hand in hers and slipped the ring onto his finger. "Robin, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love. As it encircles your finger, may it remind you that you are always surrounded by my endearing love."
"And Robin…" Maleficent said.
Robin took the golden band with small diamonds glittered all around it and took Regina's hand in his. He gently placed the ring on her finger and as he slowly slipped it on he stared up into her brown orbs. "Regina, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love. As it encircles your finger, may it remind you that you are always surrounded by my endearing love."
Maleficent smiled. "And now by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife." She then turned to Robin. "Robin, you may now kiss your bride."
"Finally." Robin huffed out causing everyone to laugh and he stepped forward placing his hands on Regina's hips, gently pulling her forward and placing his lips onto hers. Regina wrapped her arms around his neck and moulded her lips into his as people cheered and a few wolf whistled.
"Yey mommy and daddy!" Grace cheered, jumping up and down clapping her hands and as Regina and Robin pulled away they laughed and glanced over at Grace who was grinning at them.
"Family and friends, I present to you Mr and Mrs Robin and Regina Locksley." Maleficent said and everyone clapped and cheered louder.
Regina giggled and dipped her head into Robin's shoulder. They then started walking down the aisle, their hands joined. Regina looked over as Robin looked at her and they kissed again, finally husband and wife.
The pictures had been taken and everyone returned to the gazebo to have the wedding dinner and to listen to the speeches. Little John was first up and he recounted many an embarrassing tale of Robin and even a couple of Regina which e received a glare from the woman while telling. Then it was David. David had told many an embarrassing tale of Regina when she was younger, which Regina blushed profusely at. He also told of how much love the family has for Regina and Robin and how he hopes their marriage will last through all battles. Then it was Robin. Robin stood up and cleared his throat. He brought out his notes and glanced down at them before looking around him at their guests who were practically the whole town.
"I'm not sure I can top the two speeches we have just listened to. I'm not going to unload a whole lot of embarrassing stories, even if I have quite a few of Little John that could be told…" Robin said pausing for the little laughter. "All I want to really say is thank you to you all. Thank you to David and Mary-Margaret for raising and helping such a beautiful woman such as Regina, who I am proud to now introduce as my wife." Robin said and Regina reached up and took his hand in hers. "They have helped Regina through the whole stress of organising the wedding, along with Emma, I wasn't quite allowed to decide much of the details…but I wouldn't have it any other way. I am so proud to have Regina as my wife now, along with having our beautiful little girl Grace and I am excited to spend the rest of my life with them and hopefully add to our family." Robin said.
Regina stood up and leaned over brushing her lips against Robins as everyone clapped. They both sat down and once the meal was finished the wedding party started. "Ladies and gentlemen it is time for the bride and grooms first dance." The DJ announced and Robin took Regina's hand in his and guided her towards the dance floor just as their song came on. It was probably not the most conventional first dance song but it was there song: Alison Moyet's Only You.
It had been a song they both loved and whenever it had played found themselves dancing or wrapped up in one another's arms and it wouldn't be long before they found themselves locked in a kiss or two. So it just had to be their first dance song. Robin's arms wound round Regina's waist as hers rested on his shoulders and they swayed to the music.
"All I needed was the love you gave. All I needed for another day. And all I ever knew, only you." Robin sang softly as he gazed into Regina's eyes. "And I mean every word of it."
"You can be really cheesy sometimes Mr Locksley." Regina giggled.
"But you love it Mrs Locksley." He threw back.
"Indeed I do." Regina said before leaning over and brushing her lips against his.
They were soon interrupted as Grace ran over to them, escaping Henry and Emma's clutches as they tried to keep her to the sidelines. "Mommy, Daddy me dance! Me Dance too!" Grace said excitedly jumping up and down with her arms raised up indicating to her parents that she wanted up.
Emma rushed across the dance floor. "Sorry but she is fast. She can dodge anyone." Emma said making Regina and Robin laugh.
"No it's okay." Regina said pulling away slightly from Robin and leaning down to lift Grace up. "She can join us."
"Are you sure? This is your first dance." Emma said.
"I'm sure. What's our first dance without our little princess?" Regina said smiling at Grace who just grinned back. Emma nodded and quickly left the dance floor to leave the trio to dance. Robin wrapped his arm around his daughter and his wife and none could wipe the smiles from their faces. Regina glanced around her, seeing her family and friends and then back to Robin and Grace. Locked away in her mind she had two lots of memories. old and new, some good and some that haunted her but one in particular about a mother who had given her a second chance always stuck in her mind.
Thank you mother Regina said to herself as she glanced over to the open curtain of the gazebo to catch a glimpse of someone she had not seen since that one fateful day. Cora Mills, her mother who had died with her heart inside her, loving her and giving her the best gift she ever could have.
Keep going with your second chance Regina. This is all I could ever wish for. A whisper rung through Regina's mind and she smiled. She looked at her husband and her daughter and she knew she would keep living her second chance.
