Chapter VII : "Mai" (part 2/ continuation of part 1)
Naru's P.O.V
I can see that my father really mean everything that he said but he is abit wrong. I do care about masako but not the way I care for mai since I Love mai more than myself. I can understand what okuda want me to do that is why I will be doing everything in my power to help mai in this case and to free her from her sufferings.
"fine…I just want to end mari's sufferings…she's here in japan to at least be at ease of all the problems but this came and she can't even rest properly…what you and her fiancé did hunts her every night...hope that your satisfied with it misaki-san…" he said while standing looking so seriously towards misaki-san and that made us all look at her too.
"wait…okuda-san…what are you talking about?" asked yuu-san
"heh! Well…this doesn't surprise me...you can ask her if you want or would you rather me stating every single thing misaki-san?"
"state it!" said haruto-san who just came
"brother…I thought you're going to stay beside mai until she wakes up…" said yuu-san
"well…that what I plan to do but I was just going to give this to satou so that I won't have to call nii-san later when I heard you, okuda saying something about that bastard fiancé of mai and misaki…so spill it now…I don't want wasting my time or be away from mai now…spill it out!" shouted haruto-san
"ok…well…one reason why mari is here in japan is because of her…mari already knows that her fiancé is just using her because of her inheritance and all so he cheats on her…she ask me to help her investigate her fiancé and she even told me that she can still tolerate seeing him only flirting or kissing other girls but…one night…we were following him when he meet your sister misaki in a classy restaurant…they seem to know each other so much that they even enter a hotel…that's when mari ask the president of that hotel for the key of their room..ah! if you're asking how did mari directly ask the president, the answer is because mari deals with this kind of business and the president happens to be in a good partnership with mari's…so now back to my story…hmnnn…" said okuda. While I can feel so much anger building up inside of me and I can see that bou-san, ayako and haruto-san is also the same as me.
"wait…so you mean…misaki is in London?" asked yuu-san
"yes…but we didn't know what she is doing there in the first place…" said okuda
"I remember her asking father to allow her to visit uncle for a week…"said haruto-san
"eh! Really? Uncle didn't say that to me…he even ask me to at least one of us visit them there just 3 days before mai arrive here" said yuu-san who is really in shock
"well…we will know the truth…okuda-san…continue your story" said bou-san
"ok…hmnnn….after mari asked for the keys…she immediately run into the room where they are staying even though I tried to stop her that she might get hurt of what she will see or what but she said 'I just can't allow him to do more than flirting especially with misaki…he destroy everything! I won't let them destroy me again!' is what she told me…after that we reach the room and mari just plug-in the key and there when we entered…they are both naked in bed…doing it…mari..mari burst out into tears and started shouting 'YOU CHEATER! AND YOU BITCH! YOU DESTROYED ME! I WON'T EVER FORGIVE YOU!' that what she shouted…I know you can still remember that misaki-san…mari gave up her love because of the engagement…she need to broke up with her boyfriend and be engage to him but you and him…behind her back…you cheated and destroyed her…" said okuda facing misaki-san with a very mad expression.
"I didn't do such thing! She is just a boring girl that her own fiancé got bored of her and look for someone better! I just happen to be there! I-I-I…*SLAP*" said misaki-san but just before she finish talking we all just heard a loud slap and there in front of her is haruto-san
"haruto-nii…" said misaki looking at her brother with a teary eyes
"DO NOT CALL ME NII! YOU ARE THE REASON WHY SHE ALMOST LOST HER LIFE! THAT FATHER NEED TO CALL OUR ENGAGEMENT OFF! THAT SHE HAD TO SUFFER SO MUCH FROM YOU! HAVEN'T YOU HAD ENOUGH?! HUH! " shouted haruto-san
"nii-san…stop…" said yuu-san while he and seniichi-san are stopping him from hurting misaki-san who is now being comfort by mother and masako
"YUU! SHE IS THE REASON WHY I'M LIKE THIS! EVEN UNTIL NOW I LOVE MAI! SHE IS THE REASON WHY MAI HAD TO SUFFER THIS MUCH! IF IT ISN'T HER FAULT THEN MAI IS HAPPILY LIVING WITH ME!" he shouted again
"BUT! Haruto-nii! I hate her in many ways that's why I did that! But that time when she caught us…her fiancé said to me that 'she is not important to me…she is a boring woman that will be my wife…I might just want an heir then leave her…I don't want a boring woman who can't satisfy me' is what he told me than after that she burst in our room and started shouting at us…I was so shock and afraid at that time…at first I didn't understand what she told us that we destroyed her…aunty told me that she really doesn't want to push their engagement but because it has something to do with the company that uncle needed mai to marry him…she told me that on the engagement day a man who claim to be mai's boyfriend suddenly ruin the party but mai…just announce that she will marry her fiancé and proclaim that she doesn't have a boyfriend…but aunty knows that she was just pretending…that is why I started to understand what she meant and immediately go home but weeks after that mai came here…I-I regret everything…not until she started flirting with my boyfriend that resulted us to break up…"
"I don't believe that mari flirted with your boyfriend…just as mari said a while ago…she didn't do anything like that…she even advice you to ask him and he will surely present an evidence…that is why I want you to apologize to her when all of this is over…I hope nothing bad will happen to her….haruto-san…please don't be mad at her anymore mari may not forgive her for what she did…but…I know that you are aware that mari loss some of her memory because of that incident and…just to say this…mari…she want to forget what happen…she even hang out in a bar at night just to drink until she can't stand anymore…she keep on saying that 'because of him I need to betray him…I love him…but because of my fiancé…I had to break his heart' she keep on saying those…mari almost broke but didn't affect her work…mari…mari…started to do a ritual in order to forget everything…that…that almost took her life if I wasn't there she might not be here by now…that is why I told her to at least rest and go back here in japan…I didn't know that it will come to this…." Said okuda that made us all quiet. This made me regret something that I wasn't able to find her much earlier.
"who do you think mai is pertaining to…that she betrayed or what…" asked ayako
"well…I have no idea about that…since mari never told me…"said okuda
"well…I think I know who that is…right keichi?" said yasuhara that made us all look at him and keichi
"you knew?" asked bou-san
"yup! Since the son of the Nakajima family…in our last case…he is one of mai's friend in paris…and I think that the one mai is talking about that she betrayed is Jin-san…the boyfriend of mai in paris…His American name is Miguel" said yasuhara
"ah! Now I remember…he will be having his engagement here in japan and wanted to inite mai right?"said keichi
"yeah…he's pretty hurt about their break up, I think…" said yasu. After that this gave us a little bit of enlightenment about mai saying that she betrayed someone because of her fiancé.
"so…what is that ritual that you are talking about?" asked lin and this broke the silence
"…I don't really know…I just saw her in her room in the middle of a ritual sign, naked and unconscious…luckily I had a key to her condo that is why I was able to go inside without any problem and was able to rush her to the nearest hospital…she lost a lot of blood and scars all over her body…that time her parents were in a business trip…when she woke up…she told me not to tell this to her parents…"
"can you still remember the ritual sign?"
"unfortunately, no since it is already cover with mai's blood…" he answered
"lin…do you know a ritual like that?" I asked
"I can't be sure yet…not until I know the ritual sign…but…I don't know any ritual that can erase a memory…" said lin
"I know one…but that ritual can really kill you if you had gone wrong…but it had been sealed centuries ago…that is why there is no way that mai can know that" said bou-san
"hmnnn….mari is a smart girl who had a lot of potential and had an esp…it won't shock me if she said that she learned that after seeing a vision" said okuda
"*sign* satou…make sure to guide those who will be staying at the main house…I'll be going back to mai's room…I will stay there until she recovers…" said haruto-san
"yeah…but haruto-san that might take for a while-" said okuda when he suddenly stand up and kinda looking shock
"no-way…MARI!" he just suddenly burst out running that made all of us followed him. When we reach a room with a black door in which okuda is reciting a chant that he was trying to open the door.
"Mari…I know you can hear me…please let me feel your presence…MARI….please! don't let an evil entity to hide you! MARI! AH! That right…now stronger…much stronger mari…there…good…" he says as we saw the door starting to clear and the black is slowly fading away. When the black is gone okuda immediatle recite another chant and I am sure that it is chant for a protective barrier. After chanting he immediately go inside and we all follow, we all saw that he is now holding mai's hand.
"you did great mari…you did well…very good mari…I promise to not leave you again…I promise to protect you….i won't let them get you…" said okuda who is kinda trembling and about to cry.
"what just happen? Can you at least explain it to us okuda-san" said yuu-san
"they…they are making their move…he want mari so badly…he want to get her no matter what…he…if he succeeded…we won't be able to find mari until she died or until he let her go with a pain or burden on mari…I won't let him do that…oliver…lin…please if you don't to lost her again…begin your investigation before it's too late…" he said and with that I ordered everyone to begin their job. Ayako, masako and yasuhara are currently walking around the house while lin, john, and bou-san are bringing the equipment into the base that yuu-san assigned for us to use. While mother, father, madoka and I are still in the room of mai with everyone else.
"can I ask everyone to leave the room now…sorry for being rude but I need to protect mari…I want to secure her safety now…" said okuda who is now sitting beside mai.
"okuda…I want to stay…I want to-" said haruto-san but just before he finish okuda interrupted him.
"I'M SORRY haruto-san but you need to go home to the main house…that is what mari wants…so please…just stay there…I promise, to protect her with all my might…just have faith in us…mari needs her rest so please…leave…" he said. After that we all go out and we felt something strong inside.
"he strengthen the barrier…this will mean that only he can enter and no one else unless he permits it…" said lin who just finish bring the equipment.
"koujo…will mai be safe? He did told us that even with all this barrier mai will still be in danger in her visions" said madoka approaching her husband to hug him.
"maybe…the reason why he put up a stronger barrier or he asked everyone to leave them alone so that he can secure that mai will be safe" said lin while hugging his wife
"what do you mean lin?" asked father
"professor, mai is a special girl who I think improve her abilities that puts her life in danger and that goes the same to okuda who improves his abilities so fast…and I believe that he surely studied a lot of things involving on protection with that he will be having a lot of way to protect mai…I just can't say it now since I'm not really sure what kind of protection he is giving to her" said lin.
"lin, tell yasuhara to do all the necessary research that we will need, I don't want to waste time now that one important life is in danger" I said as I was about to walk away when okuda open the door all of us look at him.
"oliver…mari wants to see you…" he said
"eh? But isn't mai in a state of coma?" asked madoka. Now everyone is present since they all finish what I have requested for them to do and masako is now beside me.
"right now…she's awake already since I place a much stronger barrier inside and outside her room and that will prevent all evil from entering even in her dreams but in exchange it is only I who will be allowed to enter in and out the room but right now mari added some additional energy for you oliver…that is why just go inside and talk to her…I'll just wait here…" he said
"ok…" I said as I was about to enter the room masako hold my arm to stop me
"masako-chan?" wondered mother
"no…please if mai need to say other details…just say it to lin or to bou-san just…just not with naru…" she said
"masako-chan…oliver must do his job…just try to understand it…" said mother
"I can try to understand it but…this is mai we are talking about…the woman that my fiancé loves…so please…naru…" she said as she looks at me
"masako…naru is your fiancé…trust him…" said father
"I do trust him…but…"
"enough...i'll just ask mari to do this on other day…oliver try talking to your fiancé…she trust you but the way she is now…she really hate mari…and just to be clear ms. Hara…I can tolerate anything but just don't see mari as if she will be snatching your fiancé the moment they be in one room alone…" said okuda in which I can see his irritation.
"okuda…just inform mai that I will talk to her later…" I said
"alright…oh! By the way…mari want me to give this to you since she already predicted that ms. Hara will try to stop you from meeting her and bou-san…here is another…she also want me to give this to you…" he said as he gives us a letter that I think from mai
"hey…will mai be fine?" asked madoka
"just trust me…I will keep her safe…I won't allow anything bad happen to her" he answered
"I will take that…" I said as I now walk away and head to the base.
"oliver! Mari…she wants you to be happy…she left you all to change her lifestyle…to finish her study…to be a suitable girl…but returning with a hope that you are free kinda hurt her since she once lost her love because of this arrange marriage…so she just want you to love your fiancé and never cheat on her…that's all…I'll be going inside now…" said okuda while I just continue walking away after he said all those things. Why did mai do that? To be more suitable girl? She didn't have to do all that since I love her the way she is. She lost her love because of that arrange marriage and want me to be happy with masako while she will be away from again, is that what she wants to say. I don't want any of that to happen and masako is fully aware that my heart will never become hers. She is aware that I love mai more than anyone else, even though I may not be the type to cheat but still masako is not the one I love. The one I love is mai and no one else. After this case, I will talk to masako about ending this engagement, I just want to be with the one I love and be married to her, have a family and kids with her that alone will complete my life.
