Trigger warning: Attempted rape, but not successful

Chapter 30

The days passed slowly and mundanely for Dean and Sam. Dean would often times forget he wasn't in the mill anymore and he'd wake up scared and jumpy, not wanting to be touched or consoled. He'd scream sometimes and hide in the corner of the room rocking back and forth a little until Jody could manage to calm him without making physical contact with him. He'd even gone through a few attacks in public when Jody chose to take the Alphas to the park or to the store. People would stare at Dean and he just knew they were wondering what was wrong with him. He didn't have the conscious notion to calm down though and Jody didn't have the heart to explain. She and Sam would normally just take Dean home or leave him there. He felt twice as bad when they had to do that.

Sam was faring better. His days were spent with books and helping calm Dean down through his attacks. He'd spent a bit of time with Jody learning the basics of life. He'd learned to cook and what cleaning products were good for what surface in the past few weeks and he was planning to learn quite a bit about being a police officer too when Jody wasn't off doing her job. The younger Alpha frequently passed his time reading books Jody brought him home from the local bookstore. Sam was becoming a bit of a book nerd, but Jody cherished the smile brought to the Alpha's face every time she handed him a new one. She'd often find him passed out asleep with the book still open to the pages he'd been reading. Jody wouldn't hesitate to tuck him in no matter his age and she's always mark his spot before she placed the book on the nightstand.

The only time she left them alone to their complete privacy was when heat rolled around. Both brothers kept to themselves, only coming down for food and occasional company. They kept to their toys and their thoughts of the Omegas they hadn't seen since the mill infiltration. Sam's thoughts always drifted to the thought of Gabriel stark naked and wings dripping with oil, waiting for him and longing for him. The thought practically made Sam come apart every time. Dean could only be quenched by thoughts of Castiel taking it from him and whining underneath his touch. The brothers were both raw by the end of each day and tender beyond belief, but it was worth it to picture their interests again.

Gabriel and Castiel were about the same story. The Omegas missed the Alphas something awful even though they didn't want to admit it. Gabriel missed Sam's warmth from the night before their departure from the pet shop as the pair had woken up together in bed. It was like they'd fit together perfectly. Puzzle pieces they were, meant to go together in every single way. Gabriel tried to shake off his thoughts of the tall and handsome Alpha, especially after he'd supposedly led Gabriel on. The Omega found the prospect of doing so almost impossible though. Every dream consisted of Sam taking him everywhere. Elevators, the park bench, in bed, in a car, his strong arms holding Gabriel securely and his beautiful hazel eyes staring into Gabriel's amber ones, it was like Heaven in a bottle. Gabriel would wake up sweating every day of heat week and having to satisfy himself. Nothing quite felt like Sam in dreams though and Gabriel feared nothing ever would.

Castiel was in a similar predicament. He couldn't understand why Dean had shied away from his touch so much when they'd finally slept in the same bed after the mill fiasco, but it was nothing like Castiel's dreams. Dean was very handsy. His fingers would trace every inch of Castiel's muscled and milky colored body and touch lightly with the feel of a wing feather in all the right places. Places which would make Castiel shudder and groan. He'd wake up every day of heat insatiable for no matter how hard he tried he couldn't replicate how Dean made him feel in dreams. Both Omegas were just grateful Bobby left them alone during what they called 'hell week'.

Once Sam felt comfortable enough being outside without his pheromones being overpowering he started to jog around the neighborhood Jody lived in. He loved the feel of the air rushing onto his skin and he just felt all around good when he ran. It was like getting away from all the problems of the waking world and feeling free for just a moment in time. He closed his eyes and took in the smells of springtime nearby. He took in the flowers, the freshly cut grass, and the pheromones of other Alphas and Omegas. Sam stopped immediately and tried to block out the smells which assaulted his nostrils and he tried hard not to remember the things he'd done.

Those very same pheromones had been the cause of him losing Gabriel. He took a deep breath and continued on walking. Without warning when he opened his eyes though, three Alphas came out of nowhere. They stared at him as they sat on the wall nearby. It was like they were observing him and checking him out. Sam had always heard of Alphas singling other Alphas for fights during the heat season, but Sam was sure if he walked past the group they'd just leave him alone.

He was wrong...

"Hey there mutt," the biggest Alpha hopped from the wall and smirked, blocking his path. "What's a wimp like you doing on this side of town?"

"What's it to you?" Sam glared. His aggressive Alpha side was coming out and though he knew it was best not to mouth off at them he couldn't help it.

"Considering this is my turf," the Alpha growled and showed his wings. "I'm surprised I even let you in without permission."

"Well I'm just passing through so step aside." Sam tried to push past him.

"I don't think so," The Alpha motioned for his buddies to join him. "No one talks to me like that."

Sam was pushed down to the concrete and he groaned when his back hit the hard surface. He looked up at the Alphas who were advancing on and circling him. The other two goons had big grins on their faces as the main Alpha lifted his wings over his head, one sign of dominance, as he stared down at a helpless Sam. Sam let his wings out too and tried to assert his dominance, but the Alpha stepped on one and instead of a growl a tiny squeak came out of Sam's throat. The Alpha laughed heartily and started to reach for the zipper on his pants.

"I think it's time I show this punk who owns this territory," Sam heard a zipper being pulled down and he immediately went into a submissive panic mode. He had never been taken before much less endured what some Alphas did to lesser Alphas to show they were boss. And it was a little more than extreme humping of the leg. "What do you say boys?"

They lined up and agreed with their buddy as he began to advance on Sam. Sam screwed his eyes tight shut and prayed to God he would get out of it alive, but he felt a presence in front of him and he opened his eyes to see the last person he'd ever thought would be there.

"Step away from my mate!" Gabriel snarled and his eyes went white with grace. He held his wings up defensively and even for an Omega Sam had to admit he looked pretty damn threatening. The two lesser Alphas cowered a bit, but the head Alpha stared. And wait? Had Gabriel called Sam his mate?

"Your mate stumbled into the wrong hood buddy," the Alpha replied. "I was just going to teach him a lesson."

"Lesson learned," Gabriel said, not backing down. "I suggest you three leave before I have to hurt you."

"A lowly Omega, hurt me?" The Alpha began to laugh. "I'd like to see you try."

"Fine," Gabriel said and cocked his head ever so slightly before grabbing the Alpha by the collar and lifting him up as best he could for a short angel. "You've tried my patience long enough."

The Alpha began to choke as Gabriel tightened his grip on his neck. The other two Alphas watched in horror as Gabriel threw the Alpha down onto the pavement and Gabriel pinned him, nipping his neck for dominance and lifting his wings over his head. Sam watched in amazement. Gabriel got up and the Alpha laid on the ground in shock.

"I'm top dog here now," Gabriel announced. "This is my territory. Now get the fuck out before I hurt you worse!"

The Alphas complied and scrambled to their feet, flying away in haste. Gabriel nodded and turned back towards Sam. He extended his hand to help the Alpha to his feet.

"You okay Sammy?" Gabriel asked with compassionate eyes.

For once Sam didn't know how to answer. All he saw was the same Omega he'd stupidly pushed away defending and saving him. Sam stared at Gabriel with wide eyes before shakily and silently hugging him tight. Gabriel sighed and accepted Sam into his arms.

"There there Sammy," Gabriel consoled the Alpha. "Let's get out of here. I know just the place."
