Chapter 31
Gabriel took Sam to an old tree house built in the park which no one had used in years. The afternoon sun was starting to set and his limbs ached as he climbed the ladder, but eventually got up to the top. Gabriel sat down next to him and Sam noticed the Omega immediately beginning to inspect him for damage. Sam whined at the touch, but for multiple reasons other than the aches. His heat had flared when Gabriel had started touching him and Sam struggled hard to keep his instincts under control. Every fiber of his Alpha being told him to mount Gabriel right there and have his way, but the gentleman in Sam resisted. He didn't want the Omega to be madder than he already was.
"That time of the month huh?" Gabriel smirked a little and Sam tried to move away. "It's okay...me too."
Gabriel showed Sam his wings and how they were dripping with oil. Sam swallowed hard, still trying to control the beast inside of him. He lowered his head to avoid smelling Gabriel's scent.
"I've never seen such a submissive Alpha," Gabriel cocked his head, tucking his wings back into his grace. "You sure you are one of those hermaphrodite ones? I mean besides the girly hair. I don't care either way I don't judge."
"No I'm not," Sam chuckled a little, staring down at the grass below them. "But thank you. I just don't feel so big anymore."
"Not since all that mess huh?" Gabriel looked out at the houses and the sun falling slowly behind them all. "I feel ya. I haven't felt myself ever since the mill thing. I'm glad we did it though."
"Me too," Sam's voice was shaky. "G-Gabriel I...I'm sorry."
"For what?" Gabriel was confused.
"I'm sorry for pushing you to talk about the things that happened to you when we were both really little," Sam started listing things. "I'm sorry for ignoring your advances. I was just so scared to be with you. I figured you didn't like me at all and I just felt alone and I was acting on instinct when I lost it to that evil bitch Omega and I just didn't know what else to do and I—"
"Wait," Gabriel turned to face Sam. "You liked me?"
"So much," Sam admitted, bowing his head. "But I figured you'd never feel the same way. I mean you're so cute and special and handsome and I'm just me and—"
"Sam," Gabriel turned the Alpha's head and looked him in the eyes. "Shut up."
Gabriel's kiss was like fire and Sam was consumed immediately. The Alpha leaned in to feel every inch of the Omega's lips on his and he placed his hand on top of Gabriel's as they kissed. Sam had to keep from touching Gabriel, ravishing him the way he wanted to. Every one of his instincts was telling him to, but Sam didn't. He just pulled away and looked into the amber eyes before him. Gabriel smiled and Sam blushed.
"You look cute with flushed cheeks," Gabriel winked and took Sam's slightly shaking hand. "And yes moose I've liked you for awhile too. I was battling my own inner demons and they wanted to fight you so I stayed away."
"I'm sorry I screwed things up the first time," Sam replied. "Can you ever forgive me?"
"Sam you don't think I already have? That was your past. Sure it hurt, but the only thing you can do is move on from it. It's the only thing I can do too."
"T-Thank you." Sam swallowed hard and smiled.
"I was thinking about something," Gabriel introduced his proposition. "I want to take you out somewhere. I know most Alphas court the Omegas, but I'm doing this the other way around because this is the twenty first century. I wish to court you Sammy. If you'll let me?"
Sam was shocked. Gabriel wanted to court him. It was as though all his dreams from early on had come true.
"Yes Gabriel," Sam nuzzled his cheek. "I would love that."
"Perfect." Gabriel smiled.

Dean woke up once again in a cold sweat, shooting up in his bed and shaking. The nightmares from the mill hadn't stopped at all and Dean was running on very little sleep as it was. The bags under his eyes had started to grow bags and the dark shade had increased. His wings still ached now and then from the old injuries Crowley had given him as punishment for not cooperating. And he still had the scars from the muzzle in the pound so long ago. His entire body was flawed in some way now and Dean almost wanted to break down into tears when he looked at himself in the mirror in the bathroom. He could understand why Castiel stayed away. Who would want to see such a broken Alpha?
Dean lay back down and was about to try and get more sleep when he heard a knock at his door. Jody opened it and Castiel stood behind her sheepishly peeking in. Dean covered his body with the sheets.
"Dean," Jody sat down on the side of the bed and ran a hand through the Alpha's hair. "It's not healthy to be without contact with people for too long. I'm a cop I would know what it does to people. Castiel came to visit and I let him in and I don't care how much you argue with me you're seeing him."
Dean was about to protest, but didn't. He simply nodded and Jody stood up from the bedside.
"You two have fun." She left and Castiel came in, shutting the door behind him. Dean looked over at the Omega, feeling Castiel's eyes boring through him. Castiel sat down where Jody had gotten up and Dean still didn't say anything.
"You don't look well," Castiel cocked his head and looked into Dean's eyes. He could see the lingering fear and pain in them. "You haven't been sleeping I can tell."
"I'm so tired Cas." Dean could only manage to say that.
"I can tell." Castiel could smell the lingering heat on Dean and he knew his wasn't totally gone either, but he wanted nothing more than to comfort his friend in the meantime. Castiel laid down on the side of the bed Dean was not occupying and let out his wings. Dean stared at the magnificent raven appendages and wondered how the angel had grown such unique wings. Dean felt the wings wrap around him he stiffened a little. He wasn't used to the contact.
"I'm not gonna hurt you." Castiel said in a calming voice. He started running his hand down Dean's side in an attempt to soothe him. Dean sighed, though he didn't wish to be held the thought of it and the feeling now was quite pleasant. Dean leaned closer. "It's just like when we were young."
Dean felt his heart ache. He longed for the simple days in the pet shop. Part of him wished he'd never been adopted, but the other part was happy. They'd helped a lot of people by shutting down that mill and Dean was thankful he'd been given the opportunity to be a part of stopping it all. Dean felt Castiel's teeth grazing his neck and he felt the muscles relax. Alphas typically did that to Omegas to calm them and Dean wasn't used to it being the other way around. He'd done it to Castiel when the angel had first showed up in the pet store.
Dean eventually closed his eyes, but he didn't sleep at first. Nightmares threatened to creep in until he remembered Castiel was by his side. He felt the warmth of the Omega's embrace and suddenly he didn't feel so alone anymore. Jody had been right. All that time he'd spent alone wasn't good for him and Dean knew if he pushed Castiel away now he'd probably never get another chance. Dean rolled over and stared at Castiel. He stared into the blue eyes he'd seen the first day the small angel had arrived at the pet shop and then he pressed his lips to Castiel's cheek. He kissed his cheek and quickly shot back down into the blankets nervously. Dean waited for something to be wrong, for Castiel to get up and leave out the door, but he didn't. He stayed.
"I doubt you're ready for that Dean," Castiel said. "But when you are better and these things take time, but when you are I'm not leaving you anytime soon. I was mad yes, but I know why you did what you did and I can forgive you for that."
Dean relaxed further after the confirmation and Castiel smiled as the Alpha finally slept better than he had that entire month.
Reviews are appreciated!
Yeah I know this is yet another filler chapter, but this story can only go on so long. I've got one more major story arch and then it's over. I hate to say it, but it's true.
Another note: I go out of town for two weeks on the 21st and I didn't want all of you to think I'd been kidnapped never to return. I wanted to tell you that through an update rather than messaging everyone. It was easier that way.
More to come soon.
