Chapter 8

Marian still had the taste of the most eligible bachelor in Kirkwall and possibly in all of Thedas on her lips. Her knees were weak and her eyes hazy. She found it hard to look away from his eyes no matter how much Fenris was on her mind, the man in front of her was very attractive and very appealing. He had everything a person man or woman looked for in a partner. He was kind, gentle, attractive, humble, well grounded, brilliant, and need she say he had a castle back at home and a whole army to defend her if she went with him. She could live the perfect life with him and just like Fenris he would love her, but he wouldn't resist saying it like the elf. And he'd stay loyal through everything just as he did now. He wouldn't leave her in the thick of the night.

The concept of having the perfect man and life offered to her with no strings attached made it incredibly difficult to turn away from his embrace and the bench. But she did it anyway to do exactly what he told her to do.

Her hand grazed over his on the bench as she walked away. As if her body and mind were rebelling against her decision to go and find Fenris. She heard his breath heavy as his thumb quickly rubbed over her outer palm while he had the opportunity. He was letting her know his offer would be here if she ever wanted to find him again.

It was even harder to walk away now knowing he was undoubtedly watching her backside.

She finally made her wait outside of the Chantry door. The place that she had gone to for answers. She only had more questions. She could hardly breathe even in the fresh air. She needed a drink and she needed one bad.

Hawke hears crashes and screams coming from the inside of the Hanged Man. Cautiously she opens the door and is momentarily shocked at what she sees. Not only is Fenris the one her heart sang for in the middle of battle, but he was surrounded. At the top of the stairs by Varric's room she saw the magister Fenris struggled to get to. There was no doubt on who it could be.

Danarius.

And Fenris had come here to defeat him on his own. Fenris knew he had a hold on him and he still came alone. She was almost offended, but the thought of Fenris dying before her eyes stopped her from caring about her ego.

As he fought off the undead that kept rising, Hawke made her way around the scene. For the moment unnoticed by all, she took the chance. She threw a ball of fire at Danarius's feet thus dispelling his forcefield. Once that happened he knew she was there and caught her eyes, but he still didn't have the time for a counter attack as she was already done summoning her next spell. A storm of ice came down on Danarius and without his forcefield up the shards were merciless. They were sharp enough to cut through his clothes and cold enough to burn his skin and still she felt didn't do enough pulled out her staff andraised her arm ready to beat the man while he was still on the ground, but Fenris's voice stopped her.

"Hawke"

It was a coarse whisper, desperate and exhausted. She looked to him to see he had defeated all of the corpses in his rage. But when their eyes met he wasn't angry. He was just so calm. maybe because she was there or maybe because he was trying to stop her tears that were now streaming down her face. She hadn't realized until now what Danarius made her feel. A pure hatred.

Fenris came to her side and lowered her staff. As much as he would love for Hawke to stab Danarius to death in front of him he just couldn't let her do that. She had always been good. If she killed Danarius she would be killing without remorse and that wasn't who she was. Besides Danarius was his to kill and torture.

He brushed aside the hair from her cheek and then turned to Danarius. "Let me."

Danarius gave Fenris an evil grin. "You can't kill me I command you not to."

"You Danarius are no longer my master."

With that Fenris leaned to the floor by Danarius's side. Spit in his face just because he could. Punched his gut three times just to hear Danarius squeal in pain. And then forcefully and ever so gracefully shove his glowing hand into the magister's chest and squeeze his heart until Hawke from three feet away heard squishing sounds. As Danarius took his last breath Fenris ripped out the heart and threw it to the floor where Hawke put it to flames. There was no chance this evil man was ever coming back.

After minutes of Fenris staring at the body and coming down from the high of adrenaline and newly found freedom Fenris got up.

" Fenris you came alone, you could've-"

But Hawke was cut off by a searing kiss where Fenris backed her up to the nearest wall and fisted her hair. he didn't pull away until her knees were shaking and she was leaning on him for support.

"Hawke, I love you." He was finally free to give her every emotion he had. No Danarius in the way anymore.

Before she could even register the weight of the words he had her up against the wall again. marking her face and neck with claiming kisses and bites.

She felt so undeserving but she couldn't escape it. He wasn't letting her. Because he didn't know what had transpired at the Chantry just minutes ago. If he did-

"Fenris, I love you too, but-" Her guilt was fueling her. She had to tell him.

"No more but's I am yours."

"But-"

He swooped her up in his arms and was carrying her up to an empty suite of the Hanged Man. Too impatient to travel the distance to the Hawke Estate. How could she tell him now, when all she wanted to do was take what he had to give? Over and over again. Now that there were no limits.

"But Fenris this morning you left and I-" She almost confessed, but he incorrectly assumed the direction of her thoughts.

"You were hurt. I know. I regret putting you through that again. But I couldn't wait any longer Hawke. I couldn't watch myself hurt you any longer. I had to deal with Danarius as soon as I woke up and saw your face, the face of my future. "

There was a creak as he kicked open the suite door.

She had already forgiven him though. In part because the wrong she had done had been greater.

"But-" Running out of excuses." We left a mess downstairs."

He dropped her onto the bed. Kissing her neck and lifting her blouse.

"And I'm celebrating."

"But I"

He found the front latch on her bra. "Say that word one more time, I dare you."

Guilt overpowering her now and having no other option but to face the truth she blurted it out.

"Me and Sebastian kissed!" She had to say it. She regretted it, but she'd regret lying to him for the rest of her life even more.

There was a moment of silence. Emotions swirled in the air. Fear and anxiety boiling up inside of her when his hand suddenly felt cold to the touch and his eyes clouded.

She didn't know what was worse, whether or not he would leave her or whether or not he would stay and she would face his rage. Instead a tiny miracle happened.

He smirked at her and leaned down against her lips.

" And?"

Hope you all enjoyed. Please don't be afraid to tell me how you felt. Comments, suggestions, and critiques are all welcome. Sorry for the ridiculous wait as always. I do mean to come on here more often to update, things just end up taking all my time. Hope you will be here next time. See you all later. Much love .
