Chapter 6 - Pink is Back

Tommy laid on his bed, bruised from all the fighting, as he thought of the recent events that had occurred. The past couple of days had been a blur, so much had happened in so little time. And as some problems got better, others got worse. His relationship with Kim seemed okay, and it seemed that their friendship was really getting somewhere, as if they had truly put the past behind them. Unfortunately, his heart still belonged to her, she had seemed to have stolen it forever. But who was he kidding, even after everything, the teammate and roommate deal, dancing and holding each other in their arms, he knew Kim didn't want to go back to the past. Did she? Unfortunately, he couldn't ask Kim now, because she was asleep on the guest bed. There was also a more severe problem, well at least to the rest of the team. Tommy's thoughts trailed to a replaying of what had just happened.

"The White Ranger had dished out much more to the rangers than Kim had seen before when she had faced him. Conner and Ethan were almost done for, I was getting thrashed," thought Tommy. "Kim and Kira were on the same page, but it just didn't seem like it was enough. He kept striking us, and even though we were using our powers, it seemed like he was even more powerful than before. Kim and Kira both got slashed across their chests with his blade, and Kira then de-morphed, because she had received a huge amount of damage, more than the rest of us. That's when it hit me."

"GUYS, STOP FIGHTING!" Tommy yelled. The others looked at him, including Kira and Trent, as he thought of his plan. "This has got to work," he thought to himself. "Kira, I know this is going to seem absurd, but go up to him." Tommy walked over to her and whispered the next part. "Hug him, embrace him, your love may help him, and if sees his friends..." Kira ran over to Trent when Tommy told her, and before Trent could strike, she wrapped him into a huge embrace.

"Get off of me!" Trent pushed Kira away, but he didn't raise his blade to her, he continued just to stare at her.

"Guys!" Tommy yelled to Conner, Kim, and Ethan. "We have to show him who his true friends are." "Black ranger, power-down. Come on Trent, we care about you man. We're your friends."

"YOU ARE NOT, MY, FRIENDS!" Trent charged Tommy and Kira, but then stopped himself before he could harm them.

"Come on guys, you heard the good doctor," Kim agreed.

"Dino-Thunder, Power Down," the others said, as Kim, Ethan, and Conner emerged from under the spandex costumes.

"Look, Trent, I know we've been fighting, but, this is where it has to end, I can't keep doing this, knowing that it's you inside of there..." Tears started to well up in the young singer's eyes. "Trent, you have to listen to me, please don't let the evil consume you..."

"AHHHH!, stop it, stop it with this, fight me..." Trent's words were stopped by Kira's constricting hug.

"You can't do this, especially not to me... because, because, I'm too in love with the real Trent to let the evil inside the White Ranger to take over!" Kira started bawling as she held Trent in her arms. All of a sudden, a white glow began to shine on Trent.

What appeared next, was Kira embracing Trent, unmorphed, with his wrist finally free of the White gem. The others looked on while Kira and Trent looked into each others eyes. Kim and Tommy looked at each other during the whole ordeal, as if they were reminiscing of when they were younger and in love.

"I... I... Kira, I don't know what I..." Trent was interrupted by an unexpected kiss from Kira, when they parted, Trent knew that he was forgiven, and the others just smiled at the two. "I love you too, Kira, I..."

"Finally, the two of you realized that, geez," Conner said enthusiastically. "Always giving me dumb looks for being wrong and making stupid comments, well this tim..." Conner looked up and saw everyone looking at him. "Let me guess, I ruined the moment."

"You're darn right you did!" Kira said with mock anger. The six laughed.

"Well, I hate to ruin the romantic mood guys, but we've got some business to take care of, why don't we get back to the lab and show Trent around, and analyze the gem to see if we can use it to create a White Ranger that can be useful to the team," Tommy explained.

They traveled back to the lab only for Trent to receive a shock.

"Hayley, you're in on this too?" Trent couldn't believe that his employer had been helping out the rangers all this time.

"Yeah, you didn't think these five could handle themselves on their own, do you?" Hayley looked at Tommy as she remarked sarcastically. "Do you think I would let them out of the house without a visual aid to let me chaperone these crazy kids?" All six chuckled at the comment.

She began to analyze the gem, and it take long to find the source of where the evil was coming from. "So, that's what happened." "Hey guys, I think I got something..."

"Well, what's the scoop, is Trent our new White Ranger?" Kira asked excitedly.

"More like your knight in shining armor?" Conner commented. Kim and Tommy both winced at that comment.

"I think so, Mesogog or one of his goons must have done something to emote an evil energy pattern which surfaced when Trent morphed," Hayley explained. "However, I think I was able to disrupt the energy signal that was used, so we should have a sixth ranger."

"Awesome Trent, you're going to be the Good White Ranger now!" Kira said. Tommy walked over to him, and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Look, Trent, I just want you to know, you have a choice in this, you can walk away from this responsibility, and no one will fault you for it," Tommy explained. "However, we would love to have you as a member of the team, so I would like to extend the invitation to you become a true member of the Power Rangers."

"I accept the duties, and will guard the White dino gem with my life," Trent replied, as Tommy put the gem in Trent's hand.

Tommy stirred from his flashback, knowing all too well what happened after it. "Geez, I thought that was it, we had our new ranger, and we would be unstoppable against Mesogog," Tommy thought to himself. "I can't believe that Trent can no longer be the White Ranger. I guess it makes sense, the bond of the gem and Trent was destroyed, so maybe once you stop bonding with a gem, you can't be bonded with it again?" But what are we going to do, I mean, Trent said he would work with Hayley, which is great, but we have an unoccupied gem, and if Mesogog finds out, he will be looking to take it from us before we find a replacement." With that thought, Tommy fell asleep because of his exhaustion.

It was a late morning for Tommy, who had struggled all night to sleep. The thoughts of who would take up the White Dino Gem was constantly on his mind, with the only thoughts strong enough to supplant those were the ones of the former flame who was staying with him.

Tommy walked into his kitchen after taking a shower, to notice Kim rummaging the cupboards. "I knew I should have went grocery shopping," Tommy said as Kim turned around and smiled at him.

"Well, you may have learned to be more punctual, but you're still as forgetful as you used to be," Kim chuckled as Tommy followed suit. Suddenly, Tommy's face got very serious.

"You know, I feel really bad for Trent and Kira. Trent seemed so happy that he was going to get a chance at redemption for what he did as the Evil White Ranger, and when he found out he no longer could..." Tommy just looked down, realizing how bad Trent must feel, and how hurt Kira must be right now. "At least I got a chance to make everything right,"

Kim walked over and put a hand on his back. "I think everything will be fine, Tommy. Besides, they have each other to get through the situation, and Trent is still going to be helping out, he seemed pretty enthusiastic just being able to work with the power rangers, even though it's only behind the scenes."

"I guess you're right Kim, not to mention, we can't dwell on it anymore. We have to hurry and find someone to bond with the gem before Mesogog can get his slimy little claws on it," Kim nodded in approval. Tommy let out a sigh, he wanted to focus on him and Kim, he didn't care that she had only been back for a few days, he still loved her, but he needed to clear this up first. He decided to resort to humor to break the awkward silence. "It would be really nice if a ranger candidate would land right on my doorstep right now." They both chuckled a little, and then stood silent as they heard a knock at the door.

"Tommy, you don't think..."

"No way, it's probably Conner and Ethan telling me they have another bet going concerning if we made out or something..." he blushed as he realized Kim probably thought he was alluding to something more. "I didn't mean for you to think that I..." Kim looked at him, put her hand up to stop him and smiled, and then gave him a hand motion to tell him to open the door.

"Look guys, I don't know what bet you guys have in sto..." Tommy's voice trailed off, leaving Kim curious enough to come to door.

"Who is it To..."

"Hey guys!" the visitor said. Kim and Tommy looked at each other in disbelief then looked back at the visitor, and responded simultaneously.

"JASON!?"
