Chapter 7 - Pink is Back
Kim and Tommy looked in awe of Jason, as he stood before them, in a white t- shirt, blue jeans, and black ray-ban sunglasses on his head. The two took a double take as Jason started feeling a bit awkward about being there.
"Uh, guys, is there something wrong, do you not want me here?" Jason asked.
"No, no, no," Tommy quickly interjected and invited him in. "It's great to see you again bro, its just, well, we were just talking about you and you happened to show up!" Tommy stretched the truth a bit.
'Good cover Tommy, besides, he's definitely the best person for the job,' Kim thought. "Jason, I can't believe you're here, this is so great, it's like an Angel Grove reunion!" Kim became really excited and looked over at Tommy, they both smiled as they had the same idea going through their minds, 'Jason the White Ranger.'
"So, Tommy, why didn't you tell me that you and Kim were back together?" Jason asked with a smile, but then saw the looks on both Kim and Tommy, and realized there was something wrong.
"Jase, it's not like that," Kim interjected. 'Man would I like it to be though,' she thought to herself.
"Yeah, she just got a job here, so I'm giving her a place to stay until she finds an apartment," Tommy added.
"Oh, sorry about that, I just figured..." his voice trailed, trying to figure out how to fight through the awkwardness that invaded the room.
"Oh don't worry about it, bro," Tommy interjected.
"So what brings you to Reefside?" Kim asked.
"Well, there was a vacancy at a dojo near by, and I've been saving up to buy my own dojo so I could teach my own style, so I checked it out a couple days ago, and I was able to buy it." Jason explained. "I think I should be alright, it comes with an apartment under the dojo, and its right near Reefside high."
"That's awesome Jase, congratulations," Kim replied. All of a sudden, The alarm on Kim's cell phone went off. "Oh man, I have to go to work, I forgot that I have a meeting with all the prospective students who want to try out for the gymnastics team. See you guys later, great to see you again Jason!" Jason and she hugged, and then she walked out and called for a cab to pick her up at the top of the driveway.
"So when are you going to be here permanently?" Tommy asked.
"A week, I'm leaving to go back to San Diego tomorrow, and will be back with all my stuff Sunday," Jason replied.
"Well, if you need any help moving in, just give me and Kim a call, we'd love to help," Tommy offered.
"We huh?" Jason said back to his friend. "I'm not buying into the fact that you guys are just friends. I mean, you guys react exactly the same to everything I say, you look at each other like you guys are in love, I mean, what gives?"
"I don't know, I guess I'm just trying to give her space, I mean she's only been here since Thursday, and I don't want to pop the question to her just yet. I don't want to screw up at least a friendship, especially now that we have to work together as rang..." Tommy caught himself as he started to slip, but it was too late.
"Did you say, as rangers?" Jason asked curiously.
"Come downstairs with me Jason." Tommy led Jason down into his lab. Jason couldn't believe his eyes as he saw, what he could only describe, as a type of command center. "I was actually going to tell you about this at some point, but you kept grilling me about Kimberly." Tommy joked, Jason just stared, and a smile came across his face.
"This is unbelievable," Jason said. "How did this happen?" Tommy sat Jason down and had him watch the same video that Kim watched. Jason watched intently, as Tommy went to get the White dino gem.
"HEY TOMMY, THERE'S AN EVIL WHITE RANGER NOW?" Jason yelled across the room. Tommy walked back with the gem in his pocket, and stood in back of the swivel chair in front of the computer.
"Well, there was, but this video is a little outdated... yesterday, two major things happened: Kimberly joined the team as the Pink ranger, and we saved the Evil White Ranger... somewhat," Tommy said, as Jason stood up when he said those last few words.
"What happened?" Jason asked.
"Well, the guy who was the White Ranger, Trent, was freed from the evil that consumed him when he morphed, but..." Tommy was interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Dr. O, you're showing civilians our secrets?" Conner asked. Kira, Trent, and Ethan followed in and looked coldly at the two.
"Dr. O... awww, that's cute Tommy," Jason smiled at him as Tommy elbowed him on the shoulder playfully. "Do you let all your students come up with nicknames for you, because I thought only Kim was allowed to do that," Tommy elbowed him again in the shoulder, and grinned.
"Oh well, as long as they don't start calling me handsome," the two started laughing hysterically, as the others just looked at them, they had no idea what was going on.
"Dr. O, seriously, why are you showing this guy around!" Ethan demanded. All of a sudden, Kira, looked him over, and realized who he was.
"Oh my gosh, you're Jason!" Kira said in shock. Trent, Ethan, and Conner looked at Kira like she was nuts.
"Jason? " Conner asked honestly.
"Oh my gosh, Conner, this is Jason, THE Jason." Kira tried to explain. Conner, however, clearly was still lost.
"The original Red Ranger!" Kira said. Ethan and Conner looked again, and this time they envisioned him with the original Red ranger suit on, and realized that Kira was right.
"Oh... the original... how did I not recognize..." Conner started mentally beating himself up.
"Hey man, it's ok, your brain is probably fried from all the battles you guys have had with this Mesogog creep," Jason replied.
"Well, since they know you, I'll introduce the new rangers to you, bro: This is Ethan, Conner, Kira, and Trent," Tommy explained.
"Man, it's a pleasure to meet you guys," Jason said as he looked at Trent's wrist and saw there was no gem/morpher on his wrist. "Wait, Trent, why don't you have the white dino gem or morpher on your wrist?"
"That was what I was trying to tell you when these guys came in, my assistant Hayley analyzed the gem yesterday to see if the evil was truly rid from it. The test came up positive, so we tried to bond the gem with Trent, but since the bond between them had already been broken, we couldn't rectify it," Tommy looked over at Kira as she was still a little emotional, but Trent held her hand and squeezed it.
"It's going to be all right, Kira, I'm still here, I can still help," Trent whispered. Suddenly, the alarm sounded, as tyrannodrones and Zeltrax were outside the house, trying to find the unoccupied gem.
"Oh great," Tommy said sarcastically. "Look bro, stay here with Trent, and hold on to this gem, make sure no one gets a hold of it, got it."
"I'll guard it with my life if I have to," Jason replied. "Guys, may the power protect you."
"Thanks buddy," Tommy looked up at his friend and smiled.
"DINO-THUNDER, POWER UP!"
The Woods Outside Dr. O's House
"Oh great, you guys again, you are not going to get in my way of finding this gem!" Zeltrax screamed, as the army of Tyrannodrones attacked the rangers. They were handling them pretty well, but then a monster came out of nowhere and knocked down Ethan and Conner, and then blasted Kira and Tommy. The Monster was about eight feet tall, had gun turrets on each side, and was covered in a blackish-greenish armor. He also held a thick sword unsheathed in his right hand.
"Man, we could really use some help," Kira said, trying to get up. As soon as she said that, she heard a huge Hi-yah, and looked up to see that Kim had gotten there to help out.
"You're no match for me, Pinky!" the monster screamed, and sent Kim backwards with a slice of his sword.
"KIMBERLY!" Tommy went to help her out, but Zeltrax grabbed a hold of him and wouldn't let go. The others were surrounded by tyrannodrones, so Kim was left alone against the monster.
"Well, it seems that I have you all to myself now don't I," the monster proclaimed. The monster, however, was interrupted by a figure in the distance.
"Hey, you better leave her out of this!" Jason said, standing there unprotected.
"Jason, what are you doing! Get out of here!" Tommy shouted, but Zeltrax threw him onto his back afterwards.
"And just what do you think you're going to do about it human?" the monster snarled.
"I'm gonna fight you with everything I've got... including the White Dino Gem." Jason lifted his arm to how a silver wristband with the white gem firmly in place. Suddenly, it changed into a white dino-morpher. "DINO-THUNDER, POWER-UP!" Jason morphed into the white ranger, and proceeded to completely annihilate the monster. He then used his blade to create arrows, and sent them over to damage the Tyrannodrones and Zeltrax. The other rangers then got up and joined their newest member. "You fools should know by now that you don't mess with the Power Rangers!" Jason added.
"You may have won this round, but you have not won the war!" Zeltrax escaped through the portal, and everything seemed like it would be all right. The rangers crowded around the new White Ranger and congratulated him on a job well done.
"Well, how does it feel to be back in uniform?" Tommy asked.
"Pretty good, the only thing missing is a good megazord battl..." Jason was interrupted by the monster that he thought he destroyed... and the monster was now a good 100 feet larger than before. "Guess I spoke too soon."
"I got this one covered, Brachio Zord!" Tommy's zord came forward, and the other zords exited to form the two megazords...
Back at Dr. O's,
9 P.M
"Man, it was awesome to have that power again, just to feel it surging through your veins, and being able to use the zords again, man this is crazy," Jason said with a smile on his face. "By the way, that Hayley was really cool, if I don't see her before I leave for the week, tell her thank you for trusting me with the morpher."
"No problem," Tommy said. "She's great, I could have never done any of this without her help."
"Tommy, I need to pick some equipment up for class tomorrow, do you mind if I use your jeep," Kim shouted from inside.
"No, go right ahead," Tommy replied.
Silence reigned for a moment as Tommy and Jason stared out into the night sky. "You know, have you ever thought about how similar you and Kim are to Trent and Kira?" Tommy shook his head. "Well, Trent was evil, Kira has the pteradactyl zord.
"But Kira is yellow," Tommy interjected.
"Still..." Jason continued. "She was afraid to say anything, so was he. And, if we're getting down to the nitty-gritty, your names both start with the same letters."
"What's your point?" Tommy asked.
"I don't know... when I look at them, I remember how things used to be with you and Kim."
"That was long ago, when we were both teenagers Jason."
"And you still look at each other like you did so long ago," Jason countered. "Maybe it's time for you speak up, Oliver." With that, Jason left to go inside the house, leaving Tommy to think.
