The Hero clutched her sword to her chest as she listened to Drakath's conversation. It wasn't that she was eavesdropping... something just caught her attention.
"How much longer until the job gets done, Drakath...?" came the voice of a lady.
"You won't have to wait much longer," Drakath replied.
"Oh...I thought you were holding back because of...HER."
"The Chaos Lord? Don't underestimate me..."
"If that is so, then do not forget our agreement. All Chaos Lords must fall. You know that. Prove to me your loyalty..."
"Understood."
The conversation ceased. The Hero found herself holding her breath, and let out a sigh.
"All Chaos Lords must fall...?" She thought.
"..."
The Hero put her sword down and turned.
She let out a scream. Drakath was standing a few feet away.
"Dr-Dr-Drakath! I-I'm not a stalker-Er-That came out wrong... Ah ha... ha ha ha," The Hero blurted out nervously.
"What are you doing here?" Drakath asked, his faced hidden in the shadows. Though she couldn't see his face, the Hero felt Drakath's gaze.
"I-I wanted to say...uh...I forgot..."
There was silence for a few moments. Questions burned inside of the heroine. If she wanted answers, that would mean letting Drakath know she had been spying. Not that she was scared...but she was. Any person who valued their life would tremble at the sight of the Champion of Chaos.
"Drakath...I," the Hero started, squeezing the handle of her sword. She looked down. "I heard...everything..."
Drakath was silent. The seconds dragged on in agony. What else could she say? She'd heard the rumours before - that for the Queen of Monsters to rise, all Chaos Lords must die - but the Hero had hoped it was...false.
The Hero blinked rapidly. What use is this emotion if the person she cared for wanted her dead?
"Is it true? For the Queen of Monsters to rise... Do ALL Chaos Lords have to die? Are you going to...kill me too?" She asked, looking up at Drakath.
The Hero felt something warm rolling down her cheeks...
"NO!" She thought. "I can't cry! Not in front of him!"
The shadow left Drakath's face as he walked near, his green eyes betraying no emotion.
Drakath leaned down, and embraced the Hero. She dropped her sword at the sudden move. The Hero felt even more confused. Why was he hugging her?
She felt her cheeks grow hot, and tried to speak. "I-I-I-"
"No," Drakath spoke softly. This was the first time the Hero had heard him use a gentle tone. It made her feel warm inside as he spoke. "Never."
The Hero knew the Queen of Monsters will be angry at Drakath, but what could she do? This was his choice, and he was on the right track.
Maybe with time, she could convert him to the good side...
