Well, I don't actually have much to say today. :) I hope you are enjoying this story, and please review! I don't own Black Butler or it's characters!

Simply One Hell of a Writer

I didn't say a word. Too many thoughts were stuck in my head, and I had nothing to say to the raven haired butler.

The dress the Earl had told Sebastian to change into was….extravagant, but intricate. I suppose I shouldn't of been suprised. It was a light shade of lavender, the sleeves opening to reveal white lace. The bottom section on the dress was covered with delicate white flowers, leading down to the lace peeking out of the hem. And, thankfully, it was simpler to put on than the one I wore now. Something else stood out about it, too….I've seen this dress somewhere before...but where?

"In principle, someone like I would not be allowed to see your skin, let alone touch it-" Sebastian spoke to me as he tied a black ribbon around his eyes, so he could no longer see whilst he changed my dress. How…polite. I did not see the need for his assistance, but my role as a 'fair lady' would mean I would be unable to change myself. I bit my lip, holding back the frustration and annoyance bubbling up inside me. Why was I…feeling so much today? Why couldn't I hold them back, push the sentiments away until I no longer feel anything, like I've done so many times before? What had changed about me…and how? I had too many questions with no answers. I shook my head to try and clear the useless worries out. Your only concern should be getting your job done, and getting out before anyone finds out it was you.

"but the situation demands expediency." He finished, and taking the cuffs of the dress on my outstretched arms. I glanced up at his face, those ruby eyes now hidden behind cloth. With a swift, almost effortless motion, Sebastian pulled off the tea-stained dress.

Now I was left standing, with nothing but the underclothes and corset on. Despite the fact that I knew the butler could easily peek through the blindfold, I hardly felt any shame or modestly of course…those feelings were long gone. The only embarrassment I felt now was due to my actions. I held back a groan, making sure to wipe my face of emotion, of the turmoil inside. How could I have dropped such a small thing? A teacup! Many of my knifes are lighter than those teacups, yet…I still let it spill.

The black-clad butler slowly picked up the mauve dress, his back to me. "Then please, excuse me." Once again I closed my eyes, clearing my mind. Focus. No more time for silly feelings or 'worries'. Don't forget who you are and what you've done…and what you must do.

"It fits you perfectly, Milady." I heard his smooth voice from my left. I slowly opened my eyes and glanced towards the mirror in front of me.

It did.

The dress felt just right on me, the folds fitting in all the right places. My fair skin looked well with the pearl necklace and earrings that accompanied the dress. My long russet hair, tied back in a silk bow, fell down past my shoulders, along with a single white rose, pinned to the top of my head neatly. I see in the tall mirror that my mouth had hung open, the only thing which exposed my surprise. After fixing the edge of the dress, Sebastian stood. "The teacup may have been a bit too heavy for your hand. Please forgive my inconsideration." It wasn't! Something tightened in my chest; Anger.…But then, why did I drop it?

He bowed slightly to me, and I shook my head. "My Master would like to give this dress to you if it would be not too much trouble. Please accept it." Give me the dress….?! I don't even deserve to be here…Wait, what am I even thinking? Focus! Your job is to eliminate Ciel Phantomhive, and that is exactly what you shall do. No distractions. No mistakes…Focus.

Sebastian seemed to devoted to Ciel…For a second, I wondered if his perfect butler demeanor would crumble with Ciel's death. Then I told myself it didn't matter. You're not here to wonder about how others feel, or feelings at all. "Why are you so dedicated?" I said softly, glancing up at him though my eyelashes, telling myself I didn't care about the answer….Or do you? He sent me a smile, and replied simply. "You are our valued guest. This is the least we can do…Oh, the guests for tonight's ball should be gathering shortly." With a click, the butler closed his pocket watch, and gave me a smile. "Please excuse me for a short while. If you would stay with Lady Elizabeth in the guest room for now." We left the room in silence, my mind still filled with ridiculous thoughts.

Through the window I could see the nobles were beginning to arrive for the ball. The Earl and Sebastian stood outside as well, greeting the guests as they had done for me. "Welcome to the Phantomhives." They said, both bowing to the pairs of nobles. A man, dressed in a trench coat and hat, ran towards the Earl, looking as though he was catching his breath. He looked nothing like the nobles…I peered closer, straining to hear the conversation from where I watched. I was able to make out pieces of their conversation. For a moment, a voice whispered in my head Why do you even care? But I quickly shoved the question away, with the others in the back of my mind. Now was not the time. "Sorry…you…busy day." The man said. I considered going to the first floor to hear better, but I might miss something. "…Detective Aberline." A detective? "Why….here….day of…" I leaned closer to the windows smooth surface, but I could only hear bits of what they were saying. "Due to the many cases….ladies…. missing….ball….patrol." Missing ladies? Patrol? "Went Missing?" "Yes… youthful… unforgivable mongrel!...Scotland Yard….perpatrator…cooperate with us!" Hm. I walked away from the window, heading towards the phone. It was time to make the call.

"You're calling on schedule. I take it the infiltration was successful."

"What a simple-minded girl! She really thought you were a fine lady and invited you to the Phantomhives right away. Remember. Kill Ciel Phantomhive at all costs. Get rid of the servants and that damn butler if you have to. It's revenge for the Azzurro and the Ferro family. That butler has a lot of tricks up his sleeves, so watch out…"

"Although it should be a trivial task to you, the 'Mad Dog of Venice,' expect hitman."

I hung up, the boss had spoken. 'Mad Dog of Venice'….Frankly, I never liked that name, but it made no difference. It doesn't matter. Now, focus.

"Tighter! Even tighter!"

Lady Elizabeth's cheery voice came through the door as I entered, and I saw that she was stripped down to her undergarmets, gripping the bedpost, head bent over. Her maid was pulling on the stings of the corset tighter around the young female's body. She sounded as happy as ever. Does she ever feel anything other than joy? Or does she-No, it doesn't matter. Remember? Focus. The opportune time will come soon. "Today's a special day so tighter!" Lady Elizabeth called, her face flushing pink.

"Most certainly!" After the maid finished tying up the corset, Lady Elizabeth turned, noticing my presence. "Onee-sama!" I forced a small smile, ignoring the warm, strange feeling in my gut at the sound of the….nick-name. Focus.

"Look at this dress!" Although I didn't care, I noticed she looked…rather adorable. The dress she wore was pink, obviously, with dark pink ribbons and white lace. A dark bow was in her blonde curls. She twirled for me, smiling from ear to ear. "Isn't it cute?" I nodded, tilting my head to the side as I continued to fake a wide smile. "Great! You look also very cu-" She paused suddenly, blinking in surprise. I tensed, my false smile dropping instantly. "Isn't that…" I followed Lady Elizabeth's gaze to the photographs on the mantle of the fireplace. This dress….belonged to Rachel Phantomhive! That is why the dress is so familiar. With another smile and clasped hands, Lady Elizabeth finally said. "You look wonderful in that dress, so please show Ciel at the ball…" I felt a stabbing of pain in my chest as she smiled at me….No, not pain…something else….What? It hurt…yet….Was it?…No….I can no longer feel guilt….Right? It couldn't be guilt. Why should I be guilty? I'm just here to do my job. What I was hired to do.

Her delicate hands reached out to me, and I lifted my own to take hers when a sweet-smelling aroma came into the air. It smelled like….Lady Elizabeth fell at my feet, and my head began to pound. What…What's going on? No, it couldn't be!...If they figured out my purpose, then why gas his fiancé as well, unless…. "Milady!" The maid called, but she sounded thousands of miles away. A faint ringing began in my ears, and I could feel my legs turning into gelatin. The maid collapsed, and I looked frantically around the room as I noticed the purple fog. It's too late. I already…already…breathed it…in. Panic fluttered in my chest, and the ringing in my head increased. I tried to reach for my knife, but my limbs weren't responding. Damn…The world seemed to blur around me, and I felt my body hit the floor. Just as the edges of my vision were darkening, I heard a soft voice.

"No need to be afraid." A hand caressed my cheek, gently, lifting my chin to meet two blurry blue eyes, and blonde hair. Familiar…looks…familiar…"Ah, even your sleeping visage is lovely."

Everything went black.

"I finally have you in my hands, my cute little song thrush."
